  • MINIMALIST BULLET JOURNAL SETUP 2019 | Flip Through. Let’s get planning and organizing! In this week’s video, I will share my minimalist bullet journal with you. We’re going to do a flip-through of my bullet journal setup for 2019, and I’ll share how I schedule my weeks and my content calendar.
    If you’ve never heard of bullet journaling, it’s basically a flexible analog system that helps you keep track of your goals, your schedule, to-do’s, significant events and milestones as a way to stay organized and motivated.
    I just started mine in October of 2018, and I have to say I really love it. Secretly, I’m also kind of a stationary geek. :-) So if you just want to get inspired or learn how to start a bullet journal yourself, you’ve come to the right place.
    My bullet journal has a very clean, simple, minimalist aesthetic to it. You can find a lot of beautifully designed journals here on RUclips, that blew me away, For me though, I prefer to keep it very basic and quick to use. My weekly spread for example, takes about 1,5 minute to design. That way I can use the rest of my time to work on the tasks that are actually on my to-do list, instead of designing my weekly or monthly spreads. But if you prefer to get really artsy, then a bullet journal is definitely a great canvas to work your magic on. :-)
    What did you think? Think you’ll ever take up bullet journaling? Let me know in the comments!
    Lots of love,
    ♥ Vera

    FINALLY, the perfect bullet journal tutorial! So many I've seen are so decorated & busy that you can't even see what you need to see - your schedule! I mean, isn't that the whole purpose of a journal/planner? TFS!

    Thank you for the inspiration.
    I've been eager to try bullet journal, but most of the examples on RUclips are either confusing or too decorative, it gives me headache.
    Your style is very simple.
    Even though some of the pages doesn't suit my life, but I can still draw some inspiration and rearrange it to follow my needs.
    And since you explain it one by one and flipping through without speeding up, I don't get anxious watching this video.
    Again, thank you very much.
    I'm so glad that I decided to subscribe to you.
    Your style is very relaxing and simple, really helpful for my busy brain.

      I'm so glad to hear that Zo Arai! 😄 That's the effect I'm always going for with my videos, life is busy and hectic enough, so let's find a moment of peace and tranquility for ourselves as much as we can 😄 Like you said, the spreads can be adjusted to fit your needs, and i also love that it's easy and simple to setup and use. Have a wonderful Sunday! 🍃

      I agree... This is my second year bullet journaling, where it was quite complicated and just confusing + I compared it to other which made me feel bad. So, I ended up making my own bullet journal and it's not necessarily a journal as it's in a huge folder... as mine ran out of pages. I realised that a journaling of others doesn't make it truly yours unless you improvise.

      Try to find the video (or book) by the originator, Mr Carol Ryder. Everyone else is trying to go above and beyond his system. You will find that his system is as simple as possible. No drawings, graphs nor washi tape!

    Out of all the bullet journal videos I have watched, yours is definitely my favorite! I love watching people design their journal, but I constantly find myself thinking I could never keep that up and I would never use that spread. Yours is so practical and definitely minimalistic and I will be doing that for mine! Thank you for sharing :-)

    Seeing your minimalistic and simple bullet journal is like a breath of fresh air! Though I am an artist myself, you won’t find ANY art in my journal. I need it to be as simple as possible (as well as my apartment and clothes). That way I don’t have anything cluttering my view and my mind, and it’s so much easier to be focused.

    I was an instructor in my past life and for professional development we were provided a planner and classes on how to utilize a planner for our job. Franklin Covey, DayTimers, DayRunners were huge along with the expense of planners and refills. It was long ago but turned around my organizational skills, productivity. As things have changed, iPhones etc. Bullet Journals have come into our lives. All the art, colorful pens, spending time coloring and drawing defeats the original purpose to the Bullet Journal. Yes to each his own, but when you spend time being artsy, it cuts into productivity. I won't even recreate the calendar but like the simplicity of Ryder's listing the days. Can't imagine spending so much time coloring and toting around a pouch of colorful markers. I also learned in my training the "KISS" method. "Keep It Simple Stupid" was the motto at that time - maximizing productivity. Also learned the quote" "over-analysis paralyzes analysis"

    Thank you Vera, I really appreciate because it really IS a minimalist version of a bullet journal, and I agree with what you say about spending more time on other priorities of mine than spending a lot of time designing it. I certainly will use some of your tricks to build mine, which I currently have in mind !

      I'm so glad Blushy Ginger 😄 I think a bullet journal is a great way to practice being less of a perfectionist. If you look at mine closely, you'll see lots of small mistakes, but I just decided to let them stay there. A bullet journal is a tool to use, and I think it's not the end goal to have a perfect one 😊 So I'd say, just try it! ✌🍃

    Thank you so much for making this video! I need to get myself organized and have been looking for a system that doesn't make me feel overwhelmed. I've bought planners that I didn't use as I should for 2 years now and have watched a few bullet journaling videos that were very overwhelming because of how intricate and fancy they are. I felt dizzy. I just want something simple and at the same time, a little more structured than just a list, which is how I've been doing it. Your minimalist bullet journal seems like a good start for me. Thank you for the inspiration!

    Vera. I love the flexibility of bullet journals and you can start a journal anytime. I like to create my own system as well and a bullet journal allows me to tweak the format as I go..I don’t use the annual spread. I use my Google calendar for that. I use a 2-page daily layout in my journal so that I have the second facing page for notes. I do like your YT planning and check list pages. However, I noticed that you also add the YT task list to your daily page. Is this not duplication? Perhaps you have a specific reason. I love that your journal is both simple, yet creative. I have seen some very “busy” bullet journals. I put a few stickers on mine and got tired of the clutter. I am back to clean and simple.

    • @SimpleHappyZen
      @SimpleHappyZen  5 лет назад +3

      Thanks so much for sharing Patricia, I'm the same way, I prefer mine plain and simple! 😊 To answer your question, I write the content schedule in the monthly but also my actual tasks that I have to do for the videos in the weekly. That's because I usually group my tasks (one week I film 2-3 videos and edit them all the next week for example). Adding them to my weekly schedule allows me to get that organized and keep track of my progress. If that makes sense 😊

    Hi everyone, I've been getting some questions about the 2019 setup, so I'd like to answer them here. :)
    I started this notebook in October 2018 and filled it in for these last three months of 2018, as well as for the entire year of 2019. The future log and monthly log (in my case content calendar) are already filled in entirely for 2019, as I showed in the video. The weekly spreads are filled in for 3 months and I will continue to use exactly that same format for 2019 as well. The lists are also the same setup, I'm going to use them in 2019 and once they are full I'm just going to copy them exactly as they are. So the notebook is already in the 2019 setup. :)
    Thanks for watching, happy bullet journaling!

      This is by far the most simplistic version of bullet journal. I started few months ago bought all the fancy stuff and stopped maintaining journal because i couldnt keep with the artsy stuff. You have inspired me again in a more simplistic way. I know wont waste the money i spent on stuff because i will organise my life in a better way, infact have started organising it with getting rid of unwanted stuff. I will use those pens and materials to make greeting cards and all.
      I am so happy that i subscribed to your channel. More than that am happy i came across your videos at this point of life where i am opening myself to embrace the life universe wants to give me.
      Thank you. Lots and lots of gratitude to you... i will try connecting with you soon to share my feedback on what difference did minimalism and journaling bring to my life.

    hello Vera. My days are really super full of activity because I am an entrepreneur and I have an artisan company. My work commitments include: purchase of materials, payment of suppliers, accounting, organization of work, paying attention to deadlines for deliveries, shipments, invoices, meetings with potential customers, contracts, contacts with customers all over the world, replying to emails, to phone calls, production of products that are all made by hand (so I have to sand, paint, assemble, place decals and stickers ..) ... And besides all this I take care of my animals (6 cats, 1 dog, 1 parrot) , of the house (shopping, cleaning, bills, repairs, etc.) and I attend an Academy of Theater so I also have to practice acting. In the evening I always walk an hour. Needless to say, around 9.00pm I'm exhausted. Do you think the BJ could help me sort out this chaos or would it take me too long to organize it? So far I have always used a pre-printed weekly diary (for example Moleskine), but I notice that often the space to mark everything is too skimpy. In the meantime I approached minimalism just to get more order around me and less stress. Thanks for your valuable advice!

    • @SimpleHappyZen
      @SimpleHappyZen  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Jessica, sure sounds like you have a lot on your plate! :) I think a bujo can help you out if you keep it very simple and functional. It takes me about 1-2 minutes to set up a weekly page, so then it's not too much work. Especially if you have lots of different things going on, getting organized can be time well spent. It will help you to make everything else go much more smoothly. If you want, try it out in a cheaper notebook (or perhaps you already have a notebook you could use) for a few weeks to see if this is something that can help you. You can always get an 'official' bullet journal later, when you know you really want to do it. Good luck with everything, let me know if you have any questions!
