  • My printer had a clogged black nozzles. This is a quick example of how I got my printer to print all colors 100% again. It is ok to use aftermarket ink. My ink cartridges that I had in this printer were Epson brand and still got my nozzles clogged, so based off that I know I can use aftermarket cheap ink since this is the worst it can do as well but is a fraction of ink price.
    Cleaning Solution Recipe Suggestion:
    Mix 40% windex type Window Cleaner, 20% ammonia, 40% hot water. Cold water is fine too, but hot water makes the solution warm and is more effective.
    (40/20/40)
    Another good solution for cleaning printheads is LA's totally Awesome" brand cleaner from dollar tree or dollar general. Mix 50% Cleaner /50% water (50/50)

    Thanks a lot for this video! I had a completely clogged magenta print nozzle. I bought an on-line cleaning kit after watching a popular video. The fluid cleaned the other nozzles just fine, but not the magenta one. And I could tell right away due to the pressure I had to apply to force the fluid through, even after letting it soak overnight. I then made up a 4 to 1 solution of Windex to ammonia and tried again. Within a couple of minutes of sitting, the pressure I had to apply went way down and I was able to unclog it. After running the Epson Nozzle Cleaning procedure a few times, the printer works like new again. Thanks again!

Very refreshing and impressive that you did not use this demonstration to sell us some secretive cleaning kit that you have developed.

    My compliments on this video. It was a lot of work. I started with reasonably good black printing and all 3 colors would not print. A scary moment when I tried to power up the unit, it came up with 0x9A errors on the screen. Power cycling wouldn't cure. I found other web references to this and let it sit unplugged for about an hour, held the power button down for 60 secs and while continuing to hold the power button, applied power with the button pressed for another 60 secs. Error was gone. Had to run a few Nozzle Cleans and all is good now. Thanks for the information.

    Thank you so much! I did manage to take out the whole print head first as per your other video. On the syringe I attached a piece of shrink tubing (5mm or 3/8" diameter) used for electrical wiring. After heating it up with a lighter, it sat quite well on the syringe's nozzle and also fit well over the ink intake nozzles on the print head.

    If I may add a suggestion - take your printhead out and clean out while it's out of the printer. You can also soak the whole printhead in the solution but make sure to use an air compressor or such to blow out any excess liquid when done and let it air dry overnight before reinstalling it. The circuit board is fine to get wet and soak as long as there's no power going to it until it's completely dry.

    It worked.
    I didn't have any amonia. I used 4 parts windex and 2 parts 90% alcohol. I used a syringe and a .25 inch diameter tube from the hardware store. My total expense was 25 cents for tubing, the syringe was free at the CVS, and $3.50 for a bottle of 90% alcohol. I had to put downward pressure on the syringe since the .25 inch tubing was slightly too big. Now my printer check page shows all four colors.

      You most probably either shorted the printhead out or delaminated it. Epsons are nothing but trouble. Next time get a printer with combination printhead-ink tank cartridges like HP or Canon. They are easy to remove, unclog and refill and when they finally bail out you don't have to trash the whole printer. Buy a set of remanufactured cartridges for a pittance and off you go! Leave Epsons where they best belong: at Epson's warehouses collecting dust. Maybe one day they will understand not to design their crap with Planned Durability and time bombs built-in.

Hadn't known how to be able to move the print head freely - turning it off in mid-print was the answer! Thank you! OMG! It works! My Epson WF-2750 was printing horizontal lines (different colors). I use it once in a while and I will follow your recommendation on printing 1 page/week to prevent this happening again. This is what I did: I used a kitchen syringe (the ones for the Turkeys) ;D, 8 parts of glass cleaner with ammonia (the only I had) and 2 parts of 50% Alcohol (the only I had). I cut 1 inch (approx) of the aquarium tube and luckily fitted into the syringe. The problem color was the M and I did a total 15 ml done in 3 parts. I did 3 ml approx on each of the other colors. I had to change the paper towel 4 times in total.
    Head Nozzle report at the beginning was: Black 100% good, Magenta 60%, Yellow 100%, Blue 95%
    Head Nozzle report at the end: B 100%, M 95%, Yellow 100%, Blue 80%
    I calculated the percentage based on the printed sheet. Magenta got A LOT BETTER..... BUT, Blue got worst!! Anyways, I was lazy and decided to leave it like that for now. I Just needed to print my 8 y.o. son's school project and now it's 95% quality on the printed pictures Vs. 60% that was before.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! :)

    Don't forget to clean the cradle on the right. When the printer is off & locked the print head stays over this small tray and that's where the goo stays. No matter how clean your print head is it will sit in the goo when you turn off = recontaminating the head. Finally mine is working again- that was the problem.

    Thank you 303 had a massive problem with the printer not working. Thought I could fix it by buying £130 worth of Epson ink and paper only to find it didn't make much difference. Did the flushing with antibacterial spray / bleach with warm water. Could see the ink was flushing out. Should have worked fine, but the printer refused to accept the inks back in.... £130 down the drain. Managed to get the printer working on and off, by replacing the inks one by one. Still gave me a lot of hassle. Got something going when I pulled the cable out and replaced it, again adding the inks, one by one. I then stacked the printing requests, so the printer didn't have much time to think about things... it worked. Could have something to do with drivers... maybe. Think the printer may need a firmware update... who knows! If you have some more advice would appreciate your help. Thanks again

    • @Gavichap
      @Gavichap 4 года назад +1

      NEVER update printer firmware of *ANY* brand! Those slimey monopolists have third-party carts blacklists built in the firmware to ward off "unauthorised" cartridges! You may end up having to trash your newly-bought carts which were working fine the day before! Next time buy a printer with combo printhead/ink tank cartridges as they are a doddle to take out, clean, unclog, refill and reuse. When they finally give up the ghost, you replace just the carts for a few euros, instead of sending the whole printer to the recycling centre. Also, no waste ink tank counter time-bomb! Avoid Epsons like anthrax as they are a disgrace.

    I think I followed correctly, but after reinstalling the same cartridges., the printer would not recognize any of the cartridges. There is a mixture of Epson and generic. I replaced one of the generic with a genuine Epson and it was not recognized either. I tried putting a shim behind the cartridges to push them to tighter contact. No joy.
    I may have powered the unit up prematurely after cleaning, but since then I've tried various combinations of plugging and unplugging.
    Any thoughts?

    What size was the tubing that you used?

  • @Gavichap
    @Gavichap 2 года назад +2

    I prefer *not* using any tubing at all, to avoid it getting loose under pressure and spray liquid everywhere (which is very bad for electronics, especially the cart chip daughter board). I simply force the syringe nozzle onto the cartridge spikes. It always provides with a tight and firm coupling. No leaks, no uncontrolled spraying.

Word of caution: if your syringe is a tight fit on the cartridge spike head, you've got to be careful not to break the spike off wiggling the syringe on or off. Learned the hard way...aaaaand now I need a $26 nozzle head...from China...

    Hello-
    I’m trying to unclog my Epson Workforce and I’ve tried a few different methods-
    I used a syringe with about 2” of tubing, filled it with with the warm solution (8 parts windex 2 parts alcohol) and it would leak down into the heads. But very slowly. So I then tried to flush them out (pushing and pulling up on the plunger).
    When I did this, a few of the colors flooded/flushed back into the syringe. Leaving me to believe the ones that didn’t are the ones that are still clogged. So I ran a few more tests (printing & head cleaning). But still no black. I then tried your method with shorter tubing. But the solutions just leaking out.
    I’m not sure what to do next. I can’t really let it sit because the solution does go down into the heads.
    That said, I’m just wondering if you might have any other recommendations I can try?
    Thanks so much.

      Try soaking the printer nozzles in solution overnight or like 8 hours. and try Flushing the nozzles after that. Also you can expedite the soaking down to an hour if you make the solution warm. I hope that helps. Epson nozzles can give a hard time and sometimes seem like they permanently clogged and won't budge. I hope that's not the case for you.

      One of a few things. If you are using refilled ink, colors may be cross mixed. For example just a drop of any of the three colors in yellow, will make it not yellow anymore, and so on. If all cartridges are filled properly, run a "clean printhead" cycle to purge ink into printhead. Good luck!

      I can verify that this method works cause I just cleaned a WF3540 that was sitting unused for 4 years. It took a whole lot of flushes (I used an entire ajax bottle solution mixed with isopropyl alcohol 8 to 2 portions) I used a flexible tube (from a fish tank) to properly attach the syringe to the ink valves. Also a whole roll of paper towel that I folded sections of, and put under for every flush. It took a couple of hours but the result was rewarding.

  • @lexaracquel
    @lexaracquel 2 года назад +1

    If you can't recognize your cartridges after this method then you accidentally sprayed liquid into the flex cable that connects to the printhead and caused a short, which then blew the F1/F2 fuse inside your printer motherboard. Also leave your printer off for a good while after doing something like this (minimum 24 hours).
