Yeah, I think it can possibly work with the Playseat seat, but a "real" seat works better. Plus, I was able to sell my entire Playseat which covered the cost of the NRG seat.👍🏾💪🏾 Good luck with your rig and thanks for watching, JuanosPLAY!

Where did you buy the side mounts for the rig? At Fanatec or Simlab? Nice setup! I ordered the exact same last week and now I am looking for a cockpit 😃
Ive been waiting till I get some more space to get a rig. Ive been considering the GT1 Evo and the TrakRacer TR80. I keep looking at others that might be similar price or less, but I keep coming back to these 8020 rigs. They look great and seem to be nearly infinitely customizable and upgradeable. Personally, Im going to try and find a GTi seat for which ever rig I get. I just love the plaid lol
That's the cool thing about the 80/20 rigs, paul roberts. You can customize them however you'd like, so that GTi seat should work just fine and look cool, too! I highly recommend it. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, Brandon Farkas, and congrats on the new rig. I got my castors from Sim Lab, but anything durable should work. I absolutely love them and I move my rig around quite often. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Awesome looking rig. Well done. Having it on casters should work well for you. I think I would add a cup holder at some point. With the 80/20 hardware there's all sorts of things you can add whenever you want. Great video. Happy Racing! : )
Thank you, Mark Black. The caster wheels have been working out great as even though I don't move it that far, it would be a true pain without them. And it is amazing all the things you can attach to these 80/20 rigs. Cup holder might not be a bad idea. Thanks for watching!
hey, I just bought that rig, I will have it in about 2 weeks. Can you tell me please if the metal part for the pedals is adjustable, I mean the angle for pedals ? Btw. great review.
Hi, daxus. Yes, the pedal plate is adjustable fore/aft as well as tilt. The GT 1 Evo is very customizable and I've been very happy with it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
That was my original plan, FUELHEAD HD, but I didn't see how to make it work once I got the GT1 Evo. Some people say you can unbolt the center post from the seat (I believe there are 4 screws underneath), but by that time I had already ordered the NRG seat. If you happen to make it work, post back on here to share with us. I'd be curious to learn how it turned out. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I'm happy you enjoyed it, Bill Gulker. Once time allows, I plan on adding some more videos to this series so keep an eye out for them. In the meantime, thanks for watching!
Thank you. I don't have the link, but I bought them directly from Sim Lab when I bought my rig, so if they still sell them, you should be able to find them there. Sorry I couldn't help more, but thanks for watching!
Great video, I'm thinking of adding the podium mount for my DD1, could you please tell me the measurements of the mount to see if it could fit my non Simlab rig. I just need the measurement of the distance between your uprights basically.
I measured about 19-1/8 inches or 48.5 cm (485 mm). Although, Sim Lab lists their sizes as 480 mm, 500 mm, and 600 mm. I believe I have the 500 mm version. Hope this helps a little and thanks for watching!
nice video man, did that long screw where you used to mount the butt kicker to the profile came with butt kicker? or what's the roughly length or ideal length of that screw should be so it doesnt have to be used with multiple washers lol
Thanks, 623baller. Yes, that screw came with the Playseat Buttkicker package. I'm not sure what length the screw is, but a few millimeters shorter would minimize the washers necessary. Buttkicker may post the specs on their site for reference. Hope this helps a bit and thanks for watching!
I got them from Sim Lab. I knew I wanted the rig to be mobile so I ordered them when I ordered the rig. Their price was pretty reasonable and they work well. If course, if I ordered them separately, shipping may have been as much as the wheels so, if you're in the U.S., be sure to bundle the little stuff with the big stuff in your order. Thanks for watching!
Great video, but you need to either move your rig closer to the tv, or mount it to your rig just above the wheel, for a more immersive sim experience. or just get a VR set up...
Unfortunately, the way my setup is, I can't move any closer to the TV, Carbon Hippo, but I've been racing that way for many years now so it doesn't bother me. I do have VR, but some times I don't feel like fiddling with everything just to get a quick race in. One day I'd love to get a better visual setup, tho. Thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics Well I hope you do get around to mounting a monitor to your rig (preferably a triple set up). you'd be happy you did. And Yeah VR can be a hassle sometimes, I mainly use it for Elite Dangerous now. Which is one of the best experiences you could you have using VR. Keep up the good work mate.
Any info on the degree angle of your pedal base? I own the sim-lab TR1 rig with the same pedal base (plus the same seat) and would love to set it similar to yours.
Hi, sonyx5332. Unfortunately, I do not. It was just based on some trial and error until it felt right. Play around with it and you should find your fit, though. Sorry I couldn't help more, but thanks for watching!
How vertical can you lift your rig on one end? I need to move through hallways so my idea is that I would lift the rig vertically to a degree on one side, to help pivot in the hallway and then I will wheel it like normal.
It's pretty heavy so I haven't tried to lift it like that. This is also why I got the casters so I can roll it around when I need to move it. Here's hoping you can figure something out, though. Good luck and thanks for watching!
I got the shifter mount from Sim Lab, as well. They sell two types and I got the slightly more expensive one that has a bit more adjustability. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Once you get the angle correct, seat comfort is fine. It's very supportive, but you've got to figure out which angle works for you. Also, if you're a big person, you may want to look at a seat that's a little wider. This one fits me perfect, but I'm not that large. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
with your seat, did you have to buy extra hardware to mount it to the rig with the seat sliders ? or does simlab include those parts with the rig, i just bought the same rig and im looking at the same seat.
Hi, Ryan Blanchard. I bought the Sparco seat sliders from Sim Lab, but I'm sure you can get other types elsewhere that might work better. The NRG seat came with the side mounts. Combine those with the extra nuts and bolts that came from Sim Lab and that was all you needed to mount it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
All in, it's rather pricey, Joey Segreti. The Sim Lab chassis was just under $500 USD. Don't tell my wife.🤣 But she agrees it's cheaper than real racing. Selling my old gear helped offset the cost, too, and I bought that piece by piece over a number of years. It didn't cost as much when new, but because the demand was so high this summer, sim equipment retained its value, making the new purchases a bit easier. I'm happy you enjoyed the video and appreciate you watching!
@@lawdog516 Thanks. That's one of the benefits of the aluminum profile rigs since you build it yourself. If you can source the aluminum yourself, it's a little more affordable, but you need to know what pieces you need.
I'm 5'8 so you'll definitely have to extend your seat rails a little further back than I did, Bobby Brian. But as far as sturdiness, it will be totally fine unless you are looking to add extensive motion to it, like 6DOF or something. And this rig may even handle that as it's really sturdy. Possibly, if you're planning on mounting a lot of additional accessories to it, the P1X might be better, but it also might be overkill depending on what you're trying to accomplish. Hope this helps a bit and thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics thanks ! Nope I will not add many things , maximum a shifter (I prefer the paddle shifters ) I have Just a ts xw for now but I will upgrade to a dd wheel in the next 1,2 years
@@bratosin1 If that's all you plan on adding, it should be totally fine. I just messed around with mine this evening and it is totally solid. And I've added a couple of things since this video. Hope to share my updates shortly.
You may have gotten the last batch of the silver finish! Cherish it my dude. Do you usually play with your screen that far away? That would drive me nuts! I think you'd find it's a lot easier and more immersive to play with a screen right in front of your wheel, even a 24' on sim labs single monitor holder would do you a lot better. Unless you use VR and aren't showing it for video purposes lol. Ordered my GT1 Evo on August 10th, when I completed the order it said 4 week lead time. A few days later it was 4-6. Now it's 3-4 weeks! Here's to hoping it arrives around this time next week.
Ha! Yeah, I think I did get the last of the silver ones, Bill Ding. And it's funny. A number of people have mentioned the distance my rig is from the TV. The TV is 58" so it doesn't seem that far away. It's not as optimal as something attached to the rig, but it's not bad and I use it for all my gaming. Also, I do have VR, as well. I'll probably include that in a video at some point. Thanks for watching and try to remain patient. Your rig will eventually get there and it will be worth it! Thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics Something about the silver looks so good. And hey if it works for you then it works! Keep in mind people use 49" screens 30 cm away from their face lol. But honestly you have VR so you already know what a perfect FOV feels like! If you decide to try it, you can get simlabs Evo monitor mount and try it out. I'm jealous of your Podium DD, that's gonna be my next purchase (after a super ultrawide probably). Glad to see you have it mounted on something as worthy as it is!
@@BobbyDuwitz I'm just happy I got the silver because it was cheaper.😜 While you're jealous of my DD, I'm jealous of all you guys with triple monitors. Right now it just doesn't work for my setup, but who knows what the future holds. VR is cool, when I use it, but sometimes I don't feel like fiddling with the setup. Sometimes I just want to sit down and do a quick race or 5. Plus, I love clean graphics and VR doesn't provide that quite yet, so there are plusses and minuses with everything. I do love the rig, tho. Much easier to get in and out of than the Playseat and as you know, way sturdier. The next thing on the wishlist is one of the new Nvidia 30xx cards. Then maybe the triples will come after that.😅
@@AutoAcademics Cheaper and it attracts fewer scratches, and I just think it looks really nice in silver. Triple monitors were great to have, I had to stop using them tho because I wanted to move my rig (wheelstand) away from my desk so that I can use it for non racing stuff (the 3 monitors were right up to the edge too, not good for mouse and keyboard). VR was the solution to that, especially since I just don't have enough ports on my graphics card to have triples AND dual monitors on my desk lol. Totally get you with VR being a hassle to set up and use sometimes. Sometimes it's nice to not be trapped in the virtual world, also nice being able to see the pretty and expensive gear that we all love lol. I want to be able to alternate so I picked up sim lab's single monitor mount for ~$80. Just got the shipment confirmation today, should be here by Tuesday!!!
@@BobbyDuwitz Nice! If I didn't need my rig to be mobile, a monitor stand would be ideal. My main problem is that I use my gaming PC for other types of gaming, not just sim racing. If I ever figure out a better solution or focus solely on sim racing, I'll definitely move toward ultrawide or triples, especially if and when I get a new 3000-series video card.😉
I'm interested in the seat measurements. I'm building my rig from scratch as sim labs don't ship to my country but seat buying is hard for me, I'm 220lbs, hip width is about 22 inches
Be sure to check the dimensions before you buy, Hylon Ochoa. My seat (FRP-300) wasn't listed specifically as a Large, even though that is what was listed on the sizing chart and my seat fits me perfectly. As I mentioned in the video, I'm nowhere near 220 😅, so it would be real snug on you. I doubt my seat is Large, but I honestly didn't know what size it was when I bought it so I guess I got lucky.
I couldn't get my seat slider to work since I have a Sparco EVO XL and the handle wasn't wide enough. I just bolted the seat to my P1-X rig and the seat slider is collecting dust in a closet.
Yeah, while those seat sliders are nice to have if you can get them working properly, they can be a real pain if you can't. As long as don't don't have to adjust your seat for others you should be fine, though. And enjoy that P1-X!
Yes, I still use it and love it, King Fisch Racing. I've added a couple more accessories to it, as well. Hopefully, I'll get another vlog out shortly about it. Unless your desk is a standing desk, I don't think this rig will fit under it. The steering wheel uprights are kind of tall and with the seat attached, it would definitely have to be a tall desk. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I had to source the seat separately. Sim Lab does sell seats, but they are very expensive to ship to the U.S. I got mine from CariD, but you can find these NRG seats at a lot of online retailers. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I've been on numerous lists for a 3080 or 3070 since they launched, DeathSaveArcade.😢 Hopefully, I'll get one soon or I'll just wait for the 40xx. 😅 My OG Rift handles my VR fix for now. Thanks for watching!
It actually didn't say, but I believe it's medium based upon the fit. I'm not a big guy (approx. 5'8, 170lbs.) and it's rather snug on me. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Hmm. I think I did see that, George Howard, but then there were the issues of getting it bolted to the chassis. There were a lot of things I hadn't thought through carefully enough, but my new setup is MUCH better. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I have a Rift, as well, but don't use it as much as I used to do to the resolution and time it takes to get set up. I agree, FOV isn't perfect, but it doesn't bother me, so I make due for now.
Yeah, they don't come with a seat, Christopher Nixon. Sim Lab does sell seats, but depending upon where you live, shipping can be very expensive. They even state this on their website. The rig, however, is fantastic and if you can source your own seat, it's totally worth it. Happy shopping and thanks for watching!
Hi, Pradeep Farkya. Yes, the rig was delivered to my door. I had to bring them in and down to the basement, though, so you may need a friend to help get the larger boxes upstairs. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
If I remember correctly, a size wasn't stated when I purchased this seat, ARunto. Based upon how it fits me, I'd say it's a medium, tho. Hope this helps a little and thanks for watching!
Yeah. As you can see, the TV is mounted on the wall and I can't get my rig any closer. Fortunately, it's a 58" plasma tv so it doesn't bother me too much. I would love triples, but have to figure out where to put them. Thanks for watching, Micah Curtis!
Where you see Sim racing exploding was bad for the consumer is the opposite imo as now it us so popular then more companies will make Sim gear so in turn price will drop as it has already so it is great for the consumer in the long run. New sim racers who started in lockdown due to covid have no idea how much hard work and money us sim racers who have been in to the for years. Trust me 3 or 4 years ago was so hards, DD wheels were £2000 plus then £800 to £2000 for a wheel rim no P1 cockpits or anything so you have it easy now IMO
I'm not sure what the width of that seat is, Jake D, but theoretically it should. These aluminum extrusion profile rigs are very configurable. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Unfortunately, I don't know offhand, KINA Pets..., but you can probably look it up on their website: sim-lab.eu/shop/product/slc001-gt1-evo-sim-racing-cockpit-446#attr= Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I got it from CARiD.com. This is not an endorsement, as they took quite a while to ship it, but in their defense, it was early on during Covid and the seat arrived with no issues. Hope this helps, The Fisch Family Adventure, and thanks for watching!
@@MarkFisch Sadly, I haven't had much opportunity to race because my motherboard died a few weeks after this video. I love my sim lab gt1 evo in black. Lol and i had issues with sim lab but in the end my rig and all the add-ons were free lol. I bought my gt1 evo and got it and 2weeks later I came home to a whole new sim lab gt1 evo for free I was never charged. Then when I ordered mine 1st rig the didn't send a shifter mount I ordered. So the sent me the right shifter plate, cup holder, keyboard tray, mouse pad, button box mount and 5red and 5black slot cover for free 😂😂 so I got so much more then I paid for every add-on I wanted and an extra whole rig for free 😂🤣 so then I bought a triple monitor stand and all the parts weren't right so I got the parts and half my money credited back. @@mattrittman No problem. Happy to help!
Great video, love your setup
Thanks for watching!
This motor is so heavy so I got my wife to hold it 🤣 good video man!
LOL It was either my wife or my little daughter. LOL
Thanks for watching, Brawne Lamia!
Great vid! I too just got a similar rig but am looking to add casters myself. Which ones did you get as I’m looking for something similar. Thanks!
Thank you, Brandon Farkas, and congrats on the new rig. I got my castors from Sim Lab, but anything durable should work. I absolutely love them and I move my rig around quite often. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Great looking rig thanks for sharing
Great video, hope you fixed your FOV since then
Ha! Field of view is pretty much the same. No way to get the rig closer to the TV. But that being said, I mostly race in VR now. Thanks for watching!
Great stuff bro!
NICE!
Thanks for watching, Ticona2!
hey, I just bought that rig, I will have it in about 2 weeks.
Great video👍
Just a question, I have a playseat evolution, would it be possible to mount my seat on a. GT1 Evo rig?
That was my original plan, FUELHEAD HD, but I didn't see how to make it work once I got the GT1 Evo. Some people say you can unbolt the center post from the seat (I believe there are 4 screws underneath), but by that time I had already ordered the NRG seat. If you happen to make it work, post back on here to share with us. I'd be curious to learn how it turned out. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics Fast forward, you need the seat sliders from playseat, got an answer on Reddit. Anyway ordered a Sparco seat for 300 bucks
@@FUELHEADHD10 Nice. You should be happy with that.
Awesome video, I may have missed in but did you get your seat in medium or large? Thanks!
I believe size large was all that was available when I ordered and if that's true, I wouldn't go any smaller. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Great video. Thanks for making this.
I'm happy you enjoyed it, Bill Gulker. Once time allows, I plan on adding some more videos to this series so keep an eye out for them. In the meantime, thanks for watching!
Nice setup, do you happen to have a link to the caster you bought?
Thank you. I don't have the link, but I bought them directly from Sim Lab when I bought my rig, so if they still sell them, you should be able to find them there. Sorry I couldn't help more, but thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics ok np
Nice setup - ENJOY!
Thank you, CharlieLima. And thanks for watching, too!
pretty sick rig, hoping we get some gameplay
That's in the plans, Juan Delgadillo. Thanks for watching!
I see u added Caster wheels set did u get the sim lab ones or some set off amazon
Thanks for the video! Which NRG seat did you go with?
Thanks, Jeremy Knorr. I got the FRP-300. Really is a nice seat, but it'll fit snug if you're a big guy. Thanks for watching!
Was it the large model or regular?
Hey bro....where did you buy the mounting for the ClubSport Shifter SQ V 1.5 from?
I got the shifter mount from Sim Lab, as well. They sell two types and I got the slightly more expensive one that has a bit more adjustability. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Great rig. Abismal FOV
How's the seat comfort wise? Would you still recommend it for 2-3 hour stints?
Nice!
Thanks for watching, Eric Smith!
Wow that was an interesting video, if I can ask, what does your setup cost??, thanks Chris
AutoAcademics WOW it looks like it would cost much more expensive than that !!! Thanks Chris and thanks for ALL your great videos
@@lawdog516 Thanks. That's one of the benefits of the aluminum profile rigs since you build it yourself. If you can source the aluminum yourself, it's a little more affordable, but you need to know what pieces you need.
That seat slider took me forever to figure out lol
That part was truly a pain, C.L. Lawrence. Thanks for watching and by the way, nice name!👍🏾
Do u think is sturdy enough? I love the smaller footprint (vs p1x ) , I'm afraid also the gt1 evo is to small in length (6.1 height )
I'm building my rig from scratch as sim labs don't ship to my country but seat buying is hard for me, I'm 220lbs, hip width is about 22 inches
its an nrg frp300 you can get them in different sizes. I was 220 and I fit into a large .
Hey just an FYI, you can bend the seat slider bar out as much as you need. It'll bend no problem
how much was shipping to the states ?
It was about $170.
Are u still using this cockpit how do you like it. Wonder if it will slide under my desk if I add wheels
@@AutoAcademics I ordered it Friday!!! Will Use it with my fanatec v2.5 I hope there is a spot for my button box!! Thanks for ur help
@@KingFischRacing Nice and congrats! I had to order an additional arm from Sim Lab for my button box, but it shipped quickly and works great.

Did the seat come with the rig or did you have to purchase it elsewhere if so where did you find it?
I had to source the seat separately. Sim Lab does sell seats, but they are very expensive to ship to the U.S. I got mine from CariD, but you can find these NRG seats at a lot of online retailers. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@@AutoAcademics Thanks for the reply I seen your seat for $175 NRG is that the same one?

What size NRG did you get? The large or medium?
It actually didn't say, but I believe it's medium based upon the fit. I'm not a big guy (approx. 5'8, 170lbs.) and it's rather snug on me. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
My PlaySeat pole was removable? Four bolts and it comes off.
Hmm. I think I did see that, George Howard, but then there were the issues of getting it bolted to the chassis. There were a lot of things I hadn't thought through carefully enough, but my new setup is MUCH better. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Hey man where did you get the simlab decals? None in my kit😡
Mine came in the kit, Ewen Black. Maybe they'll send you some if you reach out to them.
U need to go vr tho that fov is off I'm sure n vr is awesome I got rift s but I hear reverb g2 is the way to go if ur pc can handle it
I have a Rift, as well, but don't use it as much as I used to do to the resolution and time it takes to get set up. I agree, FOV isn't perfect, but it doesn't bother me, so I make due for now.
I just canceled my order after you said No seat. Thanks
Is the rig delivered to door..wondering if i have to lift from bottom floor to 5th floor.
Hi, Pradeep Farkya. Yes, the rig was delivered to my door. I had to bring them in and down to the basement, though, so you may need a friend to help get the larger boxes upstairs. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
what size NRG seat did you use?
If I remember correctly, a size wasn't stated when I purchased this seat, ARunto. Based upon how it fits me, I'd say it's a medium, tho. Hope this helps a little and thanks for watching!
Great review, but you seem to be very far away from the TV.
Yeah. As you can see, the TV is mounted on the wall and I can't get my rig any closer. Fortunately, it's a 58" plasma tv so it doesn't bother me too much. I would love triples, but have to figure out where to put them. Thanks for watching, Micah Curtis!
VR is the key word here
Where you see Sim racing exploding was bad for the consumer is the opposite imo as now it us so popular then more companies will make Sim gear so in turn price will drop as it has already so it is great for the consumer in the long run.
Would a GT omega xl rs fit on this rig?
I'm not sure what the width of that seat is, Jake D, but theoretically it should. These aluminum extrusion profile rigs are very configurable. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
What is the thicknss of this 80/40 profile?
