Parkside/Lidl multi purpose tool - Is it any good?

- Lidl recently had this 20v cordless mutli purpose tool for sale at £19.99. As I already have the Parkside 20v cordless impact driver that had a 2Ah battery, I thought I would give this tool ago. I was really impressed with extraction facility on this multi tool, as it left virtually no dust after sanding.
Disclaimer: How I use my tools, equipment and PPE is down to my choice. I use these based on my experience of using and operating these tools. Do not think because I have done something a certain way it is safe for you to do say. Always follow manufactures safety guidelines.

The more Parkside stuff I see, the more I am impressed, especially for the paltry sums they charge. I think I need to get a little Parkside action in my life!
I'd rather buy these Pete for tools I'm not sure if I need, then invest a large amount of money in one and only use it once
Straight to the point, & i like that. saw them in Lidl on Saturday but knew nothing about what job they could do,
However i do now, still use my Dads 1980s tools ,thank god Lidl is around the corner from my house

Pretty good. I was looking at your review because i wanted to buy one. Got today the Parkside one and it's the newer version, a lot more skinny and light. I really like it.

Thanks for a useful presentation/demo, with a nod to Peter Millard! I have this tool and concur that it's pretty good value (It does vibrate a bit, but it's not something one uses all day long).
For the price, I don't think anyone can complain about it. It does certainly do a job.

I have a corded worx one and couldn't do without it,it has got me out of some right problem jobs,this one seems to be quite good,the one thing you could do is review the blades as the bi metal ones I had from torx were crappy,saxon were roughly the same as well cheers mate good video
I've seen the Worx stuff, looks a nice bit of kit. I shall bear that in mind about an update on the blades Malcolm 👍

That's actually now becoming a regular comment with the 12v version. Perhaps there was an issue when they made them. I've never had an issue with any 18v parkside tool I've bought
I had same issue. Switch to blue bosh since and we'll extremely expensive but work years.

Thanks James, we seem to have the same opinion, what i`ll do first is purchase a drill unit battery and charger, test that out then if i like i`ll then be looking for the multitool. I`ve wanted a multitool for some time. Thanks once more. Tony

Have I missed these at lidl, got the battery impact driver and battery sds, with 2ah and 4ah batteries, can't fault for the price. Really want a multi tool next.
I expect most stores have sold out now, there may be the odd one or two in a store, but it was about 7 weeks ago they had this on offer
Good video I never thought of cutting mortise joints even hinges I no what your thinking it'll look rough but only if you go to the line then finish with chisel but on outdoor jobs brilliant.. I don't no why anyone would give a thumbs down your explaining about tool you bought that is a good tool just my two cents

@@JamesManCave your welcome mate I gotta admit Lidl and aldi I'm addicted to buying I can't go in with out buying something obviously I'm going in to buy something but tool wise today I got a 3 in 1 combi square excellent tools parkside and workzone I wanted a parkside track saw but had none in ended up getting the workzone one I think parkside do more cordless tools then workzone
Yes, their tools for the money can't be knocked. The Lidl tools are rebadged einhell tools, which I have noticed wickes are not starting to stock
@@JamesManCave no they shouldn't be Einhell, it's also just a reseller... Some of them are ordered in big quantity custom to lidl that's why quality varies
Einhell would cannibalize their own customers, they make A and B quality in the same line up...lidl eats their customers in Europe everywhere
@@kitecattestecke2303 they are indeed Einhall, they quote Einhall service number for repairs, and parts can be bought from Einhall them self. They have a newer range of tools out now, so I'm not sure if these have changed

Bought the 12 volt model at Lydl here in the United States works pretty good

Just watched your Parkside multi-tool review. At £20 pounds I don't see a lot to grumble about. However, I was a wee bit reluctant to buy it when I first saw it on sale, as I bought the cordless drill/driver from the same stable, and found it severely lacking. The chuck kept coming loose, letting drill bits fall out, and it is really heavy and badly balanced. I only bought it because someone bought me a strimmer with a 20v battery and charger, and I it was reduced to £24.99 with an additional battery and charger. So, a countersinking machine for about 7 quid. Okay, don't mind that it is less than perfect at that price.
Having watched your review of the multi-tool, I think I'll grab one next chance I get.

I've only had good experiences with parkside stuff so far, I've also got an impact driver, it's surprising how good it actually is. Only thing I'm not sure about these tools in the longevity of them 👍
had 2 tools, both stopped working soon and without no serious reason. try to avoid it since
I find the best grip to use it, is to turn the blade at a 90 degree or 45 degree, I find that easier.

Was tempted by this but got the 12V one which is easier to handle the 20V one seems cumbersome in tight spot. Nice review mate.
Thanks buddy, as I've only got the 20v one I can't comment on the comparison to the 12v, but I would imagine it's easier to handle 1 handed as well
James' Man Cave yeah I've got some of the 20V too and the batteries are all inter changeable however the annoying thing is the 12v stuff isn't!
I have two different 20V and one 12V (10,8V actually) multi tools (meec and this parkside for 20V, einhell for the 10,8V) . The 10,8 V was too weak and when plungecutting the blade could get stuck and machine stop running and it would be hell to get it loose. That has never happened with either of the 20V variants I own, not even in tropical hardwoods.

Cool video. If you hold it firmly and walk it into the corners it works great.
Try with the Japanese woodcutter blades and reduce the speed to 1 for first cuts. Tool is a bargain for its price of around 30 pounds
I got the saw the other week.. I only had the 1.5 amp battery.. maybe that's why yours seems more powerful with the 4amp battery
To be honest, when I first used it before I did the video, I used it with the 2 Ahr battery I have and didn't notice a difference. Sharper blade perhaps?
i have both batteries, makes no difference, blades supplied are a good medium quality, better than the cheap blades in diy stores, but not as good as the expensive blades, which make all the difference to quality of cut and battery life

Aldi have a new ferrex range now 20/40v made by erbauer but the comments on RUclips are disabled that puts me off. The tools are good but apparently the big 20/40v batteries are crap but there 20v 2ah are fine they do a drill impact driver grinder saw and Strummer and mower
Yes, I saw all that advertised in there latest leaflet. I had a look at it all online, and there is nothing I can buy that I don't need. I'd like to test some of it, but I can't buy a tool for the sake of a youtube video 😕
I have one (bought sept 18) used a lot but today the tiny driveshaft broke . So motor spins but no effect on the head. 3yrs garanty so its going back. I need new one.
I only kept mine about 18 months in the end, used it twice. But I sold it on eBay with a battery for more then what I bought both of them for from Lidl!

I'm not aware of any online shop, unlike Aldi, these tools can't be ordered off the Lidl website. But, this is the website parkside list in their manuals for spares and batteries, might be worth dropping them an email.

6:11 - If you're using the same piece of sandpaper, it will naturally produce less dust, because it's removing less material. The sandpaper is a lot sharper for the first 10-20 seconds of use. Maybe you did replace it with a new one and just didn't mention it, of course.
@bina nocht - Yeah, I know, should be every 5 seconds, but I'm lazy.
Not 100% sure but chance is that the foam sole of the sander will come loose. At the high setting it becomes so hot that the adhesive meldt.
Well I can't say that I've used the sanding part to much since this video. But I guess time will tell

How do i get blades on
bought the 12v version from Lidl and it burnt out before much work done - good for soft wood but not for floorboards or that level - vibrates wrists to numbness whilst achieving v little progress - small hand saw infinitely quicker if not blind access
I can't comment on the 12v range as never owned any, or tried any. I believe this range of tolls (the 20v) are made by einhall, which seem to get reasonable reviews

Could you send me a link to that video? I bought a bosch blade but the hole in the blade is too small to pass into the parkside tool. Can the locking mechanism be screwed off?

I have the drill circ saw and jigsaw I want the grinder etc but it's impossible to order online but aldi make there's easy
This annoys me with lidl, aldi probably sell more items then lidl due to the online availability

thanks 4 the review. good. do oscillators always cut this $**tty? i guess, it has nothing 2 do w/woodworking but for some rough though small (since the tool doesn't seem 2 b anywhere close 2 a heavy-duty 1) cuts, right?
I think the tool will always leave a rougher cut due to the action of the blade. Usually if your cutting a hole out in something with this tool, it's going to be for something to fit in or over it, so the rough edges are hidden
I use the corded version of this on all sorts of wood, some really heavy duty stuff. It's actually pretty great and is much quicker and leaves a nicer cut than using chisels or whatever
@@pardontillinghast4989 corded tools may b better and more powerful. i prefer corded 2 cordless 146% of the time. it may leave different edge than chisels but it depends on the way u clean the surface. razor-sharp chisels will beat this tool 1:1000 in terms of clean/smooth cut. but it's a different story.
@@nskmda yeah but try doing a plunge cut. Even using it as a saw gives decent results.
Will the erbauer blades fit this multitool?

That would be quite a bit of work for this multi tool. Have a look out for the reciporcating saw that parkside do, that would be ideal for those jobs. Not a great deal more in price either

tried to sand wood with this thing and it broke in 20 minutes, instrument connector broke. Dont waste your money

Well they're certainly not £19.99 now. Paid £75.00 for one recently (new but without battery and charger) and it lasted just over a month put to domestic use.
Not great quality I'd say.
Most off the time Parkside is good working in (new) demostrations, but... I have a few 20 volt tools and nearly all !! are beginning to break down after limited time of use. When you have a lot off work, do NOT buy this. My Dewalt, Milwaukee and especially Makita keep on working. The only thing that untill now did not break down on any machine are the batteries, these should be good quality, but what is the use off batteries when you have all your tools broken?
The fact you have even mentioned DeWalt, Makita and Milwaukee in the same sentence as parkside tools show your understanding of these tools, and clearly you are not its target consumer
Parkside live on the darkside if you are lucky you’ll see the light cos they are shite 😝 Not built to last. Open one up and have a look inside that’ll make for a good review.
I don't think anyone buys one of these tools expecting it to outperform any established brands

Top tip, *DO NOT STORE THIS WITH THE BATTERY ATTACHED!*
This will kill the battery as the electronics are switched on all of the time....
I modified the storage box to allow the battery to sit near the tool but not attached....
The same thing goes for any battery tool......

It's called an intro, the case for some people who store their tools in the cases are interested, if you didn't like the video, you didn't have to watch! 👀
