Me: That's gotta be the worst 4K Blu-ray I have ever seen!
Disney: So it would seem!
"You have got to be the worst 4K transfer I have ever heard of"
"Ah, but you have heard of me"
Everything just screams 2K IP uprezed to 4K with that one. I willing to bet Disney doesn't even have a 4K restoration workflow for their older film-based properties.
You are correct, they are the cheapest when it comes to remaster.
MOST 4K blu rays are 2K DI anyway...
@@bryanp4827 I wouldn't say most. Depends on the time period of when the movie was made. Anything from 2003 to 2015 or so was probably finished on a 2K DI. But after that, for movies that weren't effects heavy, you're looking at 4K and above. And anything from before 2003 is from a film source -- so any remastering efforts for films of that era are going back to the original camera negative whenever possible -- which is going to give you 4K and up in terms of resolution.
@@Downhuman74 yes, they are getting better now, and so they should
Aren't most movies with CGI a 2k upscaled to 4K anyway? What's the difference on this one?
Absolutely. That is a terrible disc.
I doubt it’s a new transfer. It’s likely a up convert. Disney has stopped most of there scanning and closed their post facility. Any work being done currently is the lowest bidder sadly.
Always a topic I've been interested in maybe even a worst of all time blu-ray/ 4k top ten or somthing !
We got 4 pirates 4k movies here and they all are bad.
My favourite Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Looks like it'll be sticking with my Blu-ray copy.
The bluray is still sooo good.
I guess I have no choice but to keep the blu version. This is one I definitely wanted to upgrade to 4k. Sad.
I have the original 2003 dvd. Before they made the menus weird on bluray. Great dvd
There is now a new contender for the title. "Gorgo"
I just found your channel. It’s great. Have you seen the 4k version of 1975’s Rollerball? I haven’t heard feedback from anyone on it.
How is the bluray of pirates of caribbean? Better than the 4k? I want to buy it but don’t know which one to get
The Blu-ray is great, still holds up 17 years later, both in picture and sound.
The blu ray is a lot better hell streaming it on Disney plus is better
Good to know, I almost bought it cause it was heavily discounted.
How is the standard Blu-ray look compared to the 4K? I only had the DVD and just bought this on 4K, but haven't watched it yet...
I knew it's gonna be Disney but i didn't expect its pirates of the caribbean😢
alot of studios just dont want to bother or care for physical media anymore so they cheaping out with these releases like here ya go be happy
My worst 4k buy was Black Phone. Super dark and washed out...very disappointing
THE 4K RELEASE OF "FACE OFF" IS A PURE "DISASTER" ALSO! They corrected it vertically but CROPPED so heavily on the sides (compared to the us collectors edition bluray) that all cinescope-feel and the vision of the director and cinematograph was destroyed! King Lorber should not get any other movie-rights!
If someone didn’t already own the blu-ray, is the blu-ray version in this 4K release a good one or is that DNR too?
I've heard it contains the original
Blu-Ray, that doesn't have the DNR.
@@brickvengersassemble8266 thanks!
Pirates could be joined by T2 and ALIENS; the evil DNR botoxian plague trio of bad UHDs. And all 3, being such coveted titles makes it quite heartbreaking for fans! LOTR extended edition 4K is hovering above them, teasing them, but not as bad as these three.
The worst 4k disc I have ever seen was final fantasy 7 advent children complete. I honestly couldn't belive how bad it was. It literally looked like DVD quality.
How to boycott Disney+? I have already stopped my subscription. I missed my MCU. But I hate Disney+.
I'm very very curious as to how this looks and sounds but I'm definitely not ever gonna buy it, so I guess I'll never find out lol
Add Saturday night fever 4k to that list
Its a good thing I've decided to not get it and keep my blu-ray
Crazy I found the newest Priates movie on 4k at big lots for 10 bucks
You're most definitely my go to for info on physical media. I don't make a purchase unless it has your seal of approval.
I think the worst 4K disc is Terminator 2
He said it's toe toe with terminator 2
You think or you have seen it?Because lotta of folk commenting it that is bad,but never actually seen it themselves
@@romualdspizans3163 yes I have seen it, I bought it on Amazon 3 years ago, and it looks horrible compared to my 2009 T2 bluray
Its not the worst. Not even close. Actually the whole movie isn't. Yes the parts that are bad are really bad. Bar scene with excessive DNR. Intro looks great etc. Goodfellas is another bad one up there
Not even close the one I got isn’t bad at all but there is multiple versions so maybe I got a good one
I bought it as well. Returned it.
Ah man I have that one
Thank god I own the 2003 dvd 📀
Yup same. Much prefer it over the bluray, apparently the bluray has a weird menu as well
I know this doesn't have anything to do with this particular video however I do have a question does anyone know if the 2006 movie The Guardian with Russell Crowe is available on 4K I would like to add it to my collection
Is there a database that tracks quality across 4K discs?
Wow! I had just bought that 4K disc from Big Lots last week for $9.99....😂
blu ray pleb here. they look great to me for the price i'm getting them used.
Nothing wrong with blu-ray !
My pick is American Graffiti but George wanted it to look that way. The director isn't always right. He wanted it to be grainy when he shot it, now he hates celluloid and wanted it to look digital.
Ha the 4k edition been fixed for the 5 film 4k collection?
Good thing I pretty much just buy their blu rays.
What makes this even worse is the fact that Disney was one of the best studios in the early Blu-ray days. For example the Narnia films, the National Treasure films, classic Disney animations and the Pirates of the Caribbean films were some of the best Blu-rays. Those are loaded with special features and picture quality and audio are incredible. Some time in the last 10 years they just stopped caring. When 4K arrived, they started to release those very late. And the best Disney 4K releases are only little above average. Nothing compared to Sony. Disney 4K:s are always in a 66 gb discs with almost zero special features. They definitely does have the money but they don’t use it to physical media. Such a shame with that catalogue.
Both T2 and pirates are the worst 4k discs
I was like number 420... Honored
They were almost all gone at te wal mart
Typical Disney, especially with their "Atmouse" track. People have suspected in the past families have complained the home theatre mixes were "too loud" so they defaulted to a "Family friendly mix". Not sure how true this is but this is no excuse to have a separate lossy dynamic friendly mix if they care about it so much. Original mix should always ALWAYS be there.
Disney continues to ruin absolutely everything.
Even worse than PREDATOR Ultimate Hunter Edition? That had the worst, most artificial, distracting, wax doll scrubbing I've ever seen. Like I thought they were playing a joke on consumers. I can't imagine any movie being worse than that!
Why is it so hard to give top notch quality. Surly u wanna sell at ur best not piss people off a sell shit and wonder why no one buys to reviews
why would anyone even watch that, let alone own it...
Damn, wish I watched this before I bought mine. Lol
fuck the emoji movie is on 4k
You have to see the Platoon 4k!
As in, its bad?
@@dicksi12345 it’s terrible
Kinda weird, because a lot of people say that is best of the series.
Been looking for dragon ball z the American/Canadian English Dub from tv with the Bruce falconer Music…I’d literally but all the seasons if I can find it lol
You’re a ttip! 😂 great short drop!
imho its Oblivion. The 4k looks even worse than the dvd ffs...
Can someone tell me if it’s the same version of 4K that they have on Disney+ just interested?
Streaming services can’t even match the quality of a Blu Ray, even “4K” streams are still lower quality than Blu Ray.
Depends on the source of each hence my initial question.
They should let Criterion do the 4K release of this movie and see if their release is better than what Disney put out.
Oh the misery of being a home theater enthusiast.
(I am one don't sue me.)
Disney can fix this.
POTC curse of the 4k image
What would be Dope is if Disney dropped their IMAX Enhanced on 4K Blu-ray.
It's a shame, too, considering Disney's recent 4K releases of Cinderella and Snow White (the animated ones) were pretty well-done
WOW oof now that's a suck fest. I want to see this movie again. I haven't seen it in so long.
My last Pirates outing I said before my friend clicked play that this is the 5th one and he was like "I think this is the fourth one" and then later on slyly reiterated it being the fourth ugh if i was more confident in my thinking of it at the time I'd have schooled his ass! Though to his defense those later ones were so irrelevant they started blending together 😂
Good to know about this one though so I'll just dig up ye ol' bd wherever it may be while on the prowl in the seven seas yarr 🏴☠️
The Star Wars OT was a terrible transfer as well.
Disney is only after a few bucks
DVD looks better
Nothing is worse than Jumanji 4k
New it!
Your singing is so beautiful!
let's just all agree that NO Disney 4K release is worth even entertaining. NO Disney physical release has any reason to be owned. There is no redemption - they want people paying for their streaming so they can fund uninspired and hokey content like all that Star Wars mess.
Only good Disney release is Avatar 1 and 2.
The Nightmare Before Christmas looks grwt
They’ve definitely turned it around this year. Cinderella, nightmare, avatars are great
@@jacobhaley7144And Snow White.
I actually like the Star Wars sequels they have produced. Can't wait for them to issue the complete Mandelorian series on 4k.
I agree & disappointed for this release because the curse of the black pearl is my favorite film in the series. Puppet master the little reich is another bad 4K release I recommend no 1 to pay for the 4K it's awful.
Try t2 4k that's worse
Terminator is the worst. Up there with Batman 89
Thanks for being honest it’s great
Reather buy bluray
Why are people want to buy forecase shit you guys gotta go back on 1080p tvs and 1080p blu-rays
4k tvs with 4k ultra blur-Rays Are just a waste of money? It's overrated in trash. I don't see why people are upgrading. They should just go back to the way it was back in the past.
Old news!
T2 🤮
Common Disney L. This company needs to die already.
So much hate for some grain that they’re willing to scrub it to death and ruin it for good. It’s true that you can’t fix stupid.
Personally the worst 4k transfer was the original Friday the 13th, just a waste of money. You can clearly see all the effects on people's body whenever they were killed! I think Low budget movies like this should just stick to solid blu-ray transfers!
The quality of the movie itself cannot be used to judge the HD transfer. You see past the special FX which means the transfer was properly done.
I'm watching Titanic on 4K. I'm not going to say the transfer is bad because some of the CGI is more apparent in a few shots. It's dated CGI. No hd transfer or clean up will fix it unless they actually redo the CGI.
Bro that movie is like 10 years old
*21 years old
@@noahbones1221 damn
@@woodsy395 ik. Makes me feel old lol
I think HEAT is up there too.
It's a bloody awful film, so no great loss!
The movie is amazing. Shut up.
ANNNND the movie was garbage!😂
No, it's a great movie.
Did he just refer to film grain as "great"? Film grain goes against the very concept of 4K. 🤔
Tell me you don't know anything about film, without telling me you don't know anything about film.
@@TheatreStyle Well I know enough about film grain to realize that its not how we actually see things in real life, thus its an artificial eye sore...You may percieve film grain as some sort of cinematic goodness but I don't find it appealing to watch movies as if the video was recorded in a sandstorm. 😏...(apart from scenes that actually are supposed to be within sandstorms 😁)
Film grain is amazing, we need the grain as it comes from the films elements. How anyone can watch a film with heavy DNR use is beyond me. Film grain rules
You just made the most ignorant statement on the entire Internet. Congratulations for being the biggest re**rd on Earth.
@@tonyorobyeah you don't know what you're talking about. Film is composed of grain and it scrambles to create an image once light passes through. Any removal of the grain is just removing parts of the image. Hence why transfers with heavy DNR looks like crap. DNR is used to remove the grain.
Disney make's fortune's with his movies in cinema but bring's worsth 4k's on the marked always weak dolby atmos sound on 4k bluray😡
That really sucks, this is one of my all time fave movies, and one I would definitely buy on 4K Blu-Ray. I’ve been watching it on Disney+ , and it looks and sounds good, they must have done a different mastering of it I guess. 🫤
