Having read the comics and knowing who Mysterio is, my lips were curled in a Grinch smile the whole time when I saw this in theaters with a bunch of people who didn’t know. And then it turned into a jaw drop when Spidey’s identity got leaked world wide…
I was never a comic reader, but I knew the 90s Spiderman cartoon backwards and forwards. So yeah, Mysterio wasn't a twist for a lot of us. I'm glad Addie enjoyed it though.
I must confese they tricked me. I really believed Mysterio was coming from another universe and that he was a good guy in this one but he probably would turn evil in the end, similar to what happened with Baron Mordo. So when the big reveal came I was almost as surprised as my friends who don´t read comics.
ya fr, watching the trailers beforehand, I didn't think for one second that this guy was good
It's funny: I had no information going in, but there was something about how they introduced him, or maybe the globe head, or maybe Jake Gyllenhaal was just being very good at subtly projecting... but I was wary of him from the start.
I hadn't read the comics but I knew Mysterio was not the good guy. But the end reveal was totally not expected. lol
Phase 3 is officially over now, and here we go to Phase 4!
Talking exclusively about the movies, you have Shang-Chi and Eternals before Spider-Man: No Way Home. Without spoiling anything, No Way Home starts immediately after Far From Home, both movies could be aired back-to-back and they still make sense.
But now, by release order, it's time for WandaVision. Be prepared, it'll be quite a ride.
Loki should definitely be watched before No Way Home though.
@@DragonbIaze052 It obviously helps, but it isn't mandatory. No Way Home explains what needs explanation sufficiently well for the purposes of the movie.
@@vinnycordeiro It's less for the sake of No Way Home and more for the overarching narrative of everything together.
Fun little bit of trivia - the bald henchman with glasses who works with Mysterio (and was screamed at by Obediah Stane in the first Iron Man movie) is Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie in A Christmas Story, which you just watched for your channel. Yes, it's the same actor.
And you will definitely find out just how big of a problem it will become for Peter after Mysterio revealed his identity. 😉
Lol for a sec i thought you meant peter billingsly!
He is also the first character to make a return in over a decade.
He was also one of the executive producers on Iron Man and he was doing it as a cameo. It was pretty cool to see him back.
My favorite part of this film was Happy's heart to heart with Peter. Both of them were still mourning the loss of their friend, but Happy also helped Peter come to terms that he doesn't have to become the next Iron Man. Rather, he should just continue being the best Spider-Man around.
Nick Fury and Talos will return in their own limited series titled Secret Invasion coming to Disney Plus this spring.
Ugh I can’t wait for you to see how this story continues in Spider-Man No Way Home 🤐...so excited! 🤗
I absolutely looove your reactions and your facial expressions during you reactions. And also the fact that you seem so into the Marvel Universe movies. Can't wait for the next one :) Cheers from France.
Let's give Addie a round of applause for officially completing the ENTIRE Infinity Saga, (despite jumping ahead with Black Widow (2021) to get to Hawkeye (2021) during the holiday season). 👏👏 Amazing reaction. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) is a great coda to Avengers: Endgame (2019) for Peter Parker. I saw this movie in IMAX, twice. First with my girlfriend & a good friend of ours and again with my dad when it was re-released as an extended cut. And now, on to Phase 4. BTW, nice captioning at 8:09.
And speaking of Jake Gyllenhaal, I suggest October Sky (1999), Donnie Darko (2001, DIRECTOR'S CUT), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), Jarhead (2005), Zodiac (2007), Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer), Prisoners (2013), Nocturnal Animals (2016, also starring Amy Adams), and Ambulance (2022, directed by Michael Bay).
@@alextan1478 Nightcrawler is also good, and Bubble Boy is hilariously stupid. And big "Ups" for the Director's Cut of Donnie Darko, one of my all-time favourite movies. 👍
@@alextan1478 I agree with almost all of these. Prince of Persia was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, which was disappointing since I love Gyllenhaal and Ben Kingsley and I was a huge fan of the game.
More fun little trivia: The teacher who's wife used the blip as a cover to get away, first appeared in The Incredible Hulk as a college graduate student Bruce Banner bribes with pizza to get use their computers. Same character, just 15 or so years older at this point
Another cool thing to note is that: 18:04 William is not only Ralphie in Christmas Story, but also he is the first character to make a return in over a decade.
@@qjinx1 Now the only one left is Ty Burrell.
Remember in Captain Marvel Fury told Carol that people only call him Fury. Not Nick, just Fury (if you want to jump down the rabbit hole of how long he has been using a double thinking about everytime “Maria Hill” called him “Nick” in past movies) ☺️
For instance, in the Infinity War after-credits scene.
Given that's how Talos got caught the first time I'd expect him to know this. I'm more inclined to think Nick only going by "Fury" changed in the several decades between those movies.
@@TheNeilBlack I think Fury and Talos began using it as a code
To be fair that was in the 90s. He may have let a few people call him Nick later on 🤷♀️
Fury in Captain Marvel: “I can’t eat toast if it’s cut diagonally.”
Fury in Age of Ultron: Eats diagonal toast 😳
I can just imagine Tony's reaction when Peter calls ACDC Led Zep, it's the same reaction I have to that line, a mix of hilarity and utter disappointment🤣
BTW, Peter's science teacher was in the Incredible Hulk. He's the student that Bruce Banner bribed with a free pizza to let him sneak into the lab. t's been confirmed that he's the same Character, he graduated and is teaching high school science.
Another great reaction to an awesome movie from one of my favourite Reactors. 👍✌❤
10:21 The way Addie lights up and says "Hi" when a beloved character pops up onscreen is endlessly endearing. 😻
Hi
@@ImAlsoMerobiba That's not as endearing, but good effort. 👍
🤮
@@erikawilliams9558 What's your problem?
Fun fact... you recently watched A Christmas Story .... fast forward many many years later, Ralphie (Peter Billingsley).. makes his first Marvel appearance in Iron Man (1) .... 18:06 ... and this is his second.
Speaking of Iron Man ..... NEVER speak poorly in any way of Iron Man in front of Addie!!! 22:44 ... the most deserving, "How dare you?!" EVER
As soon as there are Addie shirts that read that, I'll be placing my order!
Then there's Peter resembling Tony while he's working.... at this moment someone starts cutting onions
This was a great start to the weekend!
Take care of yourself, Addie!!
William is also the first character to make a physical appearance in over a decade.
Fun fact: In the comics, Mysterio was actually a member of the ORIGINAL Sinister 6, which consisted of Doc Ock, Vulture, Sandman, Electro, and Scorpion!
Also, I CANNOT wait for your reaction to No Way Home!!!
The words “that’s what she said“ came out of my mouth as soon as you put it up on the screen😂
10:18 The way your face lit up when you saw Nick 🤩😍😻
25:00 i also teared up right now re-watching it lmao you're not alone
Great job with the MCU reactions!!! Hope you have a Happy New Years!
Whenever there's a neat and tidy happy ending in a Spider-Man story, be wary. One of the biggest overall themes since the beginning is that a lot of the time for Spider-Man to win, Peter Parker has to lose.
I love this one. I argue that the first fight against Mysterio is the best 1v1 fight in the MCU! Most of the time the heroes struggle to win but Peter really takes a beating in this one and it's against someone with no powers!
As somebody who knows Mysterio as a top-ranked Spidey villain from the comics, it's always amazing to watch and see if reactors who don't know will catch on. Most get a hint, some are completely gobsmacked…but I think you're the first one I've seen who didn't suspect Mysterio was evil, but still knew that Peter giving away the glasses was a wrong decision, just in terms of his character arc.
Your use of flipped video still spins my head; watching a whole movie with Fury's eyepatch (mostly) on the wrong eye was sooo strange. And I loved you calling Mysterio's attack on the "elemental" as reminiscent of "Dr. Strange magic", since original Spider-Man artist Steve Ditko's other creation was in fact Dr. Strange. If the art direction gave them such a consistent look, that's very cool.
Betty and Ned's "fling" is another tribute to the comics. As you might remember from the Tobey Maguire movies, Betty and Ned are very different characters there (she's Jameson's secretary, he's a reporter) and that was based on the comic books. What they never showed you in the Tobey films was that Betty and Ned were married for a very long time. So having them (well, different characters with their names, anyhow) as kids with a summer fling was a cute inversion.
This was such a great movie! Also, fantastic reaction! I really enjoyed all of the Spider-Man movies, and I absolutely cannot wait to see your reaction to "Spider-Man: No Way Home"! It's going to be awesome! 😀
18:04 William is not only Ralphie in Christmas Story, but also he is the first character to make a physical appearance in over a decade.
In the comics, Mysterio is a special effects technician who applied his knowledge to criminal activity. At his best, he could be just shy of an outright reality warper, making it almost impossible to fight him because you could never tell what was and wasn't real. I love how this movie, instead of "editing down" Mysterio's abilities to fit within the "reality" of the MCU, asked what Beck would need to pull off Mysterio's best stunts from the comics, so gave him a full crew to back up his special effects setpieces. It really shows why Mysterio is one of Spider-Man's most enduring rogues, because when he's at the top of his game, he's so much fun and gives Spider-Man such a challenge.
And the reason for Talos being Fury in this is the writers realized the real Nick Fury would never have let Beck's plot get this out of control. So kudos to Fury.
Ben Mendelssohn is amazing as Talos. I love the attitude 😂
The thing I love the most about this movie is how masterfully they hid the big reveal, even on all the promotional material. As a fan of the comics, I knew what Mysterio was supposed to be, but watching the trailers, and then the movie itself, I kept second-guessing myself, wondering if they had actually changed this character for the MCU, for some greater purpose. And then that moment happened in the movie, and I wanted to do a standing ovation right then and there. Just chef's kiss
Loved the reaction “my little heart” classic!!!
Hi Addie! You have been a lot of fun to watch react to so many of our favorite movies, thank you. I just want to say that after having been here a while, your reactions are getting better and better. You really put thought into your commentaries and you know how to make it fun.
finally finishing off phase 3 and the Infinity Saga
End credits is a nick fury setting up secret wars
can't wait for her reaction to, '...No Way Home'. Will her mind be blown?
That was a great read! I used to do em for radio so I appreciate it!
When I watched it in the theater there was a fire alarm, and we had to exit about a third of the way in, but they left the film running so we reentered during the reveal (granted as a comics fan, not a surprise, but it sucked not seeing the buildup). We had to guide the projectionist in rewinding.
"He's from Earth, just not YOURS..." nice touch there.
Will just say that as an avid Mysterio fan since the 90s animated show first introduced me, the big illusion sequence that ends in Spidey getting hit by the train is pretty much everything I wanted to see from the character
Haha, I’m happy you enjoyed this movie, Addie! I thought this movie was a step up from Homecoming! I like the way how this whole movie had played out! I remember the audience cheerfully roar at J.K. Simmons’ return as J. Jonah Jameson! I had a blast checking this movie out in theaters! I hope at some point you check out both Venom films before you get into the next Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movie! Again, great reaction, Addie! I hope you had a great Christmas & New Year holiday! :D
The you can't trick me anymore is one of my favourite lines from the mcc
Congatualtions on the sponsor, Addie!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽I always like to see young talented reactors doing well. Good catch on the fake Nick in the car. I did not pick that up. But, I did question the second Nick asking who he told. Those end credits were somthing else. Really looking forward to your reaction for "Spider-Man: No Way Home"!
I love that instead of them having Spider-Man be perfect and avoid everything, they just show how strong he is by constantly hitting him with cars and trains. But the happy ending, he doesn't get those.
Peter’s Spider Sense can be blinded if his enemy is someone he thinks he can trust. That’s why it didn’t go off when he was talking to who he thought was Nick Fury.
18:07 Hard to believe this was the kid from "A Christmas Story".
Woooo!! Congrats on getting this far! It's been such a journey and even with Endgame done and Phase 4 officially over, there is soooo much more to come, maybe even the BEST one yet lol can't wait for more Addie, please take care and much love 💕🙏
In many scenes during the movie, Mysterio's henchmen can be seen wearing baseball caps keeping an eye on Peter.
When Peter gets to the airport, Mysterio himself is there.
Which proves that Captain America's disguise of wearing a baseball cap would actually work.
Nice detail to note, and potentially note for the Secret Invasion show when it comes out, that Talos also had Nick Fury's eyepatch on the wrong eye.
I will forever crack up laughing at the dramatic middle finger Brad gave Peter 😂
Great job doing the ad!
"Even dead, I'm The Hero" is hilariously Tony Stark. always with the jokes
25:00 That's a perfect "proud dad" and "passing the torch" scene)
It's cute how you are not getting the, "Peter Tingle" innuendo.
Addie back in the 1967 Fantastic Four cartoon they faced the Skrulls, and Stan referred to them in differnent things as Dam Dirty Skrulls
There were a lot of “that’s what she said” opportunities in this reaction.
Tony still being a big part of this movie is a little hearbreaking.
I absolutely love the romance between Peter and MJ in this movie! as you say, teenage awkward is so relatable!
Best part is the that what she said joke🤣🤣 8:08
Don't know if you noticed but when Peter met Beck Fury told Peter "He's from the earth just not YOUR earth. That was a hint of this not being the real Fury. Marvel actually released a trailer featuring the Night Monkey. Shield created a new division called S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient World Observation and Response Department). They are the first line of defence for the earth.
Addie, one of my favorite movies is Fantastic Four (2005) i think you would like it
18:00 the bald guy with glasses was the kid in A Christmas Story as well.
And exec producer on Iron Man
He is also the first character to make a return in over a decade.
Thank you for all of your reactions, big fan!
Jacob Batalon(Ned) and Angourie Rice(Betty) are also in an entertaining fantasy film titled "Every Day."
Ay you posted this on my birthday
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
In this movie, I was really glad that they brought in a bad guy they haven't used yet (Mysterio) in any of the previous Spiderman movies. I can't wait for you (Addie) to see the next Spiderman Movie "No Way Home". When you see the next Spiderman movie, you'll be glad that you've seen all the previous Spiderman movies including all the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield movies. I hope the first week of this new year has treated you good so far. I also hope this new year brings you a lot of joy and happiness and leaves you with a lot of good memories.
"eeeM Jaaay!" Addie Angel 😇. You are so sweet 🌷🩷🌹❤️
Been here since the start, definitely a huge fan! Can't wait for you to watch WandaVision!!!
Been waitin you to watch it for quite a while :D
Addie , in the intro to the cartoon Spiderman and his Amazing Friends, from 1983? they were shown fighting a giant fire monster, and there was never an episode about it, so i always wondered where it came from in the marvel universe.
You mean the giant fire monster that Firestar and Sunfire fought?
The "that's what she said" was hilarious.
Something that probably didn’t sink in for me until I saw a making of for Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 a that in order for Peter to be heroic, his life has to suck. It’s easy to put on the suit and be a hero when things are going well for the alter ego, true heroes, fictional or otherwise, are the ones who do heroic deeds when it’s really hard to be that hero. There are some good things in Peter Parker’s life, but they are fleeting and temporary. There will always be someone or something that comes along to kick him down again and the ending of this movie is perhaps the biggest kick the MCU has given him since Stark’s passing… and yet, he keeps getting up. That’s what makes him Spider-Man.
In October we're officially past the blip ourselves too btw. Like in real life.
"Oh yeah, we're screwed." Yeah. Just, yeah.
I cant wait for you to start the TV shows! Wanda Vision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye. Oh man sooooo gooooood!
Addie at 28 min and 25 seconds of your video is the armor of the Black Knight , an avengers character that might be appearing in a movie that you will watch probably soon if you haven't already, i'll just say Winter is Coming
YEAH ROAD TO NOW WAY HOME BABYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!.....
I just got a scam...
IM SO EXCITED FOR UR REACTIONS TO WANDAVISION
Beck didn't send that video to the Daily Bugle. William did. Should the plan go wrong, I guess Beck trusted William to download and manipulate the footage of Spidey shutting down all the drones and make it look like HE attacked London to make Mysterio look like the hero and Spidey the villain, and expose his (Spidey's) true identity. Also, you don't ghost Nick Fury, you don't annoy Nick Fury, you don't question Nick Fury... You just don't friggin' mess with Nick Fury, period.
P. S.
NO bots!!! I am dead friggin' serious!
Watch hacksaw ridge
As others have said, we comic book veterans knew about Mysterio. The multiverse head fake kept me guessing.
There's some good stuff ahead; I don't know how many of the series you're going to watch for the channel. They're all worth watching for their own right.
If you already watched Black Widow, the only movies left are Shang Chi, then Spider-Man: No Way Home. I was very pleasantly surprised by Shang Chi; I was expecting a low grade Kung Fu ripoff. It's really quite good.
Eternals
Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness
Thor Love and Thunder
Wakanda Forever
Shows
WandaVision
Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Loki
What if?
Moonknight
Ms Marvel
She-Hulk
you're only one phase behind us now
I have finally had time to watch this video and I loved it!!! The one time I couldn't watch the video as soon as possible and it was for this movie!! I've been so excited for this since your Winter Soldier video and Antman and the Wasp video lol
Anytime you commented on their hat disguises I just grinned evily knowing this movie was coming up
Fun little fact, you can actually see a ton of Mysterios workers all throughout the field trip stalking Peter in disguises. It's not that impressive that we don't notice them cause we don't meet them yet, but the really cool fact is that Jake Gyllenhaal himself is also hiding with a hat in plain sight since the beginning as he's stalking Peter before we find out he's evil and we never notice it!!!!! The hat thing actually works in real fricken life!!! It's so insane and I love it lol
The real Nick Fury would have known Mysterio was fake the moment he saw him
They do nothing with the aunt may learning the secret and just jump into this new movie
Not that anyone cares but when MJ and Peter figure out Mysterio, the bridge they are walking on is called Charles Bridge. Beautiful area! Sometimes, there’s people selling souvenirs on the bridge and you can see St. Vitus Cathedral from there!
The question is: how long have the Skrulls been impersonating Fury and Hill? Have they been Skrulls the whole MCU👀
Oh snap! Addie got a sponsor! Heck yea :D
In this episode Addie discovers the Parker luck; Nothing ever ends well for him
Hi Addie I really enjoyed your reaction to spiderman far from home I still remember watching this movie in 2019 in the summer in theaters. Jake Was amazing as mysterio🔮💚💚 And you know that Tom Holland and zendaya are actually dating in real life It's a real Peter Parker and MJ couple.
Great shirt, I might say.
I can't wait for you to get to Spider-Man No Way Home, you will really really enjoy that, and may Shed some tears too!
I don't know, I always thought of Addie as too much of a true romantic to be a purveyor of dirty minded double entendre quips! @8:05-ish. Lol!!
I can’t wait for you to start Phase 4 with the series and movies combined
Mysterio was always such a cool villain because he didn't have powers only technology and illusions .
No Way Home is just fantastic. Looking forward to that one.
Yeah, who would believe that Peter Parker is actually Thor?
Well, you've now officially caught up with me in Marvel. I guess I need to start watching stuff again so I don't fall behind!
8:08 Nice ❤️
You’re one step closer to NWH! 😊
Many of the older Marvel fans like me were able to read their comics since Tales to Astonish in 1961.
“Who’s got ma sheeewwwws!”
Addie you also should watch Daredevil (at least the first season) in some point, before catching up with the movies... Since I'm guessing you will be invested in the shows for a while.
Addie, You're gonna start watching Daredevil series (originally one of Netflix's Marvel shows) soon, right? Like, pretty darn soon?
You should watch the 2 Venom movies before Spiderman No Way Home. Also probably start the X-Men franchise as well.
Yes X-men please
The X-Men have nothing to do with this.
@@Caseytify yes but if she's going to continue with the universe, it'll eventually tie in with other parts. Rohan was just making a general recommend for MCU reactions.
@@Caseytify it kinda does and will eventually.
@@adi_2 No should doesn't.
She's already done Hawkeye series. And she didn't watch the Netflix Daredevil show.
So watching these non canon Fox Films just because the same actor appears is non essential .. if it were shed have to watch the X-Men before her next react of WandaVision. But doing that may or may not disappoint her opinion of WandaVision
Even Dead I’m The Hero is easily the best acronym in the MCU.
