In a bit of irony, Tom Holland has said that for “Homecoming” he was as far from his actual home as he had ever been. Then for “Far From Home” they filmed just a few miles from his home.

    "But he (Cap) didn't die!"
The remaining Avengers would likely rather let the public assume that Cap died so he can spend his remaining years in peace rather than have to explain that he went back in time to live out his life privately as a married man (and probably under a fake identity) and is now elderly.

fun fact: In civil war, when tony announced becks invention as BARF not a single member of the audience laughed at it. In beck's memories 31:02, he clearly remembers it as the moment tony made fun of him and his intelligence in front of the entire world. It just goes to show how unstable Quentin beck really is.

You're not alone in thinking Spider-Man is the best superhero. He's been the most popular superhero in the world for over 30 years (as determined by the amount of money he makes in terms of licensing and merchandise sales). Batman sometimes beats him in the years a Batman movie is released because of all the movie merchandise, but every other year belongs to Spidey.

@@Bar-Lord We'll see. At the time it came out, I mostly enjoyed (original) Ultimate Spider-Man (the character) more than 616-Spider-Man, but I wasn't really a big fan of how most of the villains were changed. It also didn't help that basically outside of the Ultimate Spider-Man supporting case, everyone else in Ultimate Marvel was an incestuous psychopathic cannibal. ...and that was the heroes.
The new Ultiamte Spider-Man may be getting Peter and the MJ relationship right, but it remains to be seen if they'll also do the villains and the overall world well.

Flash Thompson is different but also similar in the 90s cartoon. He starts off as this shallow character that bullied Peter at school, but he also grows to become someone quite likeable. In the comics Flash grows up to be a real hero, and a lot of that is because he admired Spidey.

6:11 *"Does anyone have any neighbourhood questions"*
I love this line so much as it just showcases how differant the MCU Spider-Man's journey is to the comics. The MCU Spider-Man was brought into the whole Avengers world after a few months as Spider-Man. Tony Stark even made him his first suit and took Peter under his wings as his mentor. Peter takes part in the Civil War and then goes off to fight Thanos on Titian all in his first few years as Spider-Man making him only 16 years old by the events of Far From Home.
While in the comics Peter started out by himself (had his friends and Aunt May of course) as Spider-Man, making his own gadgets like Tom Holland originally did but without Tony Stark coming to him at just 15. Peter met up with the Fantastic Four in his first 2nd comic ever because he wanted to join them, Peter assumed they got payed for being hero's. Peter in the comics has a strong relationship with the F4 but we never got to see that in the MCU because of Fox owning the rights to the F4...
I'd say it wasn't until Peter started College that he began to interact with The Avengers but he was still great a street level hero, A Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man. During the Civil War comic Peter would've been early to mid 20s this being when Iron Man gave him his Iron Spider Suit the inspiration behind the MCU Iron Spider suit we saw in Infinity War, Endgame, and what he's wearing here at 6:11. It's pretty much just *What IF...? Spider-Man was mentored by Tony Stark*.
I know that there's fans who don't really like Spider-Man was handled in the MCU and would've preferred build up to this like a few solo Spider-Man films first and then introduce him to The Avengers and Civil War etc. But I guess Marvel wanted to get Spider-Man into the Avengers narrative as fast as possible. There's always the original Spider-Man films for us fans who want a more solo Spider-Man experience closer to the comics origin.

53:28 Never in a million years would I expected to see J. K. Simmons return to play J. Jonah Jameson. Little context, Simmons played the character of J. Jonah Jameson in The Simpsons. Jameson in the comics is a publisher and editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle a fictional New York City newspaper that shines a negative light on Spider-Man. Peter Parker during his High School years and into College worked at the Daily Bugle taking pictures of Spider-Man, sadly an element not featured in the MCU.
So for the MCU it looks like the Bugle has become a digital show online in the vein of Alex Jones Show. Moving away from the Newspapers, it's like 2023 in the MCU at this point so I doubt newspapers are making any money. Other modern examples is him creating his own radio show or podcast, leaving the bugle behind etc. But often returns and everything is online now with papers etc.

I almost hate how much I like this one. I grew up with the Spider-Man cartoons and comics and this is to me what the typical Spider-Man story is. The deception and mystery of the villain even though we kind of know. And contrast to the decent nature of Peter which he tends to project on other people as decent people will in real life. And youth and innocence in Peter being betrayed by the revelation of the corruption of the old. The other I think like is the DaFoe one. That same element is there. In all that and me being very familiar with the illusionist known as Mysterio they still got me anyways. They did that well of job convincing me to look the other way. Something I have been keen to since childhood and that is a good job done.

I don't think anyone brought this up but 4:01 Betty Brant was actually Peters first girlfriend in the comics, both of them dated dating during his High School years. Betty would later start dating Ned Leeds an aspect that is depicted in this film, until they both broke up. I wouldn't of minded a little connection between Betty and Peter in the MCU, would've changed things up before we got to MJ.
Liz Allan from Homecoming did have a thing for Peter during his introduction in *Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962)* but she was dating Flash at the time so nothing really happened. The Liz of the MCU is more based on her character from Spectacular Spider-Man (2008 - 2009) Animated Series both in visual design and connection to Peter. The show had this really interesting love Triangle going on between Peter, Liz and another character you haven't met. She was dating Flash as well like the comics but her connection to Peter was highlighted throughout the season until she broke up with Flash.
Peter also had another relationship in between Betty and MJ but I'll not say anything for spoiler reasons. Simply put you haven't met this person yet so It could be a spoiler. Speaking on MJ, Peter never actually met MJ until he started college at 18, so a good 4 years into the comics. Alot of iconic Spider-Man characters were not introduced until 1965/1966 during Peters college years. Alot of renditions like the Ultimate Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, and the MCU decided to bring many of these characters into the High School environment allowing Peter to meet these characters earlier in life to allow these characters to grow alongside a High School Peter Parker.

The big hint that "Nick Fury" is not Nick Fury comes in a line you didn't include here, when Spider-Man asks why other heroes couldn't be used instead of him; when he suggest Captain Marvel, "Fury" says "Don't invoke her name," which is kind of reverent coming from Fury but appropriate for Talos, who was saved by her.

16:33 Ah yes the whole Marvel Multiverse with it's alternate universes etc. Earth-616 is actually home to Marvel's Mainline Continuity so where most of the comics take place, the original version of these characters. Each universe has it's own designation allowing people to keep track of all these "dimensions". The problem with the MCU being known as 616 is that there's already a universe called Earth-616 that being the mainline comics, to Marvel fans Earth-616 refers to the comics not the MCU. The MCU actually has it's own designation that being Earth-199999 and plus the comics and MCU are very differant so naturally fans would prefer if the MCU wasn't called Earth-616.
16:34 Earth-833 mentioned as the home Earth of Mysterio (Later find out he's lying) is actually the universe of Spider-UK. We know next to nothing about this reality only that William Braddock is Spider-Man, Spider-UK. There's other universes as well like Earth-1610, better known as the Ultimate Universe. A Re-imagined and modernized continuity that began with Ultimate Spider-Man in the year 2000 with a 15 year old Peter Parker. Gave writers a chance to change things up and modernized origins of characters while taking chances, all releasing alongside the mainline comics.
The Ultimate Universe is by the more well known alternate universe in Marvel Comics as it spanned across Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Fantastic Four, and The Ultimates, basically The Avengers but by a differant name. Not to mention spin of comics following differant characters etc. Another well known universe at the moment would be Earth-1048 the setting of the Spider-Man video games made by Insomniac Games, along with there up in coming Wolverine again. Pretty much having your own universe allows you to break away from the mainline continuity and showcase your own version of the Marvel universe.
But in the end I guess this doesn't matter as it's revealed that Mysterio was lying this whole time.... Still I always wondered if he had insight into alternate universes or maybe he just pulled two lucky numbers out of nowhere to surplice us comic fans. Seems less lucky when Kevin Feige the President of Marvel Studios has been referring to the MCU as 616 as well so who knows.... Kevin does I guess lol

... And that complex explanation is why I stopped collecting comics. 😏I got tired of keeping track of the main timeline, the Ultimate timeline, etc, etc.

    • @LittleGalaxyBoy
      @LittleGalaxyBoy 5 месяцев назад +3

@@Caseytify Personally don't mind it too much as long as it's easy to track. The designations are VERY random though, 1610 or 616 means nothing to the average reader or viewer. While DC is much more logical from a first viewing with how it starts from Prime Earth, also knowns Earth 0 and then just goes Earth 1, Earth 2, Earth 12 etc.
I guess people would assume that Earth One would be the mainline universe but in the comics that's just a universe with a younger versions of character who are just starting out their careers, also has a more grounded overall tone etc. Never really looked into the reason behind the numbering system in Marvel, gotta be some inside jokes or something.

When Peter disabled the drone trying to kill Brad on the bus he jumped in and out of the same hole within seconds of a moving bus. The Stark defense drones Peter battled against where are more advanced than the Ultron drones in avengers age of Ultron movie all of the original avengers with the help of the Visions Wanda and her brother Pietro. Being a comic fan seeing Mysterio on the big screen was a trip because I never in my life thought I'd see his dumb fishbowl head in a movie. Granted, the trouble he gives Spider-Man (and other heroes) is very cool.

He is Amazing, He is Spectacular… no coincidence you are finding the same adjectives that Marvel comics has used in the titles of Spider-man comics series.
Glad you didn’t already know Mysterio was a bad guy. The reveal was clearly much more impactful than for those of us that knew him from way back. I/we were just waiting for WHEN the reveal would happen.
I hope you can carry on and not get disheartened or spoiled by the haters coming out since the Infinity saga concluded and you can just enjoy the process like they did👍

If you like female characters and Coulson, cannot suggest enough Agents of Shield. The stories that show tells over the seasons, IMO is more compelling than 90% of the MCU.
Watching reactions to this movie in particular make me jealous. I wish I could watch this not knowing who Mysterio really is

This is one of those situation where people who weren’t aware of comic history probably had more fun than those who did. People who did know about the comics knew pretty much what was happening with Mysterio as soon as they saw him. Though, my mother, who didn’t know the comics, suspected Mysterio was the villain because no other actor was announced to be in the movie. That was more process of elimination.

  • @TheHappyWhale

Mysterio did some terrible stuff in the comics. Thing that jumps to mind is tricking Wolverine into killing all of the other x-men with his illusions by making him think they were villains. It's really a brutal scene, especially as you realize what is happening.

The Sony stuff is... complicated. Essentially the Sony movies, aside from the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies are part of the multiverse, so they do exist in the MCU - kind of - but are not part of the main MCU cannon.
In short, you should watch the other Spider-Man movies as they will be diving into the multi-verse soonish, and you should check out Fox X-Men movies as well, but just don't go in thinking it's all part of the same world.

A running joke in the comics is that Peter absolutely hates when people rush the name. The way he expresses it is to say stuff like "I can't hear the hyphen!" I know why you do it sometimes (you do it with Iron Man too) is a result of it being a second language, but I can't help but hear Peter admonishing you for skipping the hyphen when it happens. 😅

As cool as we think it would be to live in the MCU, it would be just so stressful to live in a world with Super Heroes because of all the attacks they would have to deal with. Imagine this, you go to work one day and before you can get out of your apartment, you see Thanos and Apocalypse team up against The Avengers and X-Men, wrecking the city and you're like "Not my car, not my car...NOT MY CARRR!" now your day is as wrecked as your car. 😂. Stressful, huh? 😂

The avengers have been disbanded ever since the events of endgame so going forward don't think about where they are because besides losing two of their main members they also lost their leader black widow. Also you should know when go back and check out the previous Spider-Man movies the MJ in this movie is different from the original MJ who is more comic book accurate. The MJ in the original Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies is Mary Jane Watson. The MJ AKA Michelle Jones Watson MCU character is a mixture of two different characters Spider-Man dated from comic books. The first character is character is Mary Jane Watson and another character called Angelica Jones who is red-headed mutant superhero who goes by the name Firestar.
