Greetings from Norway! A lot of fun to follow your videos Jake. It must be such a pleasure and "dream come true" experience to work with a studio like that.
If you press some flat material at the exit end of the hole, you should be able to avoid any chipping. For example, clamp the guide on the start side and a flat wood on the back.
@@TheReeferYT Good luck! Make sure to take a break if the hands start getting tired and support the drilling machine with two hands. Also, make sure that you don't end up at the end pushing through the hole and smacking the drilling the machine against the glass. One last thing: don't drill too close to the edge.
Very cool video Jake. I have been dragging my feet about moving a 200 gallon glass aquarium into place because I want the "movers" to first flip it in the garage to drill holes for an overflow, and then move the tank, basically couldn't imagine how to drill a hole on a vertical surface without an absolute ton of water.. but DUH! drill the inside and the tank catches all the water. Now I can move my fricking tank! And I'll just get the overflow whenever.
Great video! Love the updates and how the Vicarious Studio is coming along! Err... Reefbuilders Studio! Hey a good tip for gluing larger pvc is to use a larger applicator. The larger pvc cement jars have a much larger applicator for bigger pipes! Or just get a variety pack of applicator brushes! Thanks for the update!!!
Looks fantastic! This has totally inspired me to drill my 72gal that I've been putting off for months. Will be my first tank drill so I've been kinda nervous!
Another great video everything’s looking great!!! Take it from a plumber often times very slow small leaks are joints that someone forgot to glue!! Maybe not but double check. Often times pvc will hold pressure with only primer for a while
Hey Jake, I was just wondering if you have any videos on how to drill a tank that has been running for years. Thanks for always putting out great content!
I'll have to drill my first tank next month, so this is perfect for showing me what not to do. 😋 The studio is really starting to fill up.🤨 Excited to see what else is in store Jake! 🥳
Wouldn't you want the elbows of the back drains to be at a 45 to have the water have more drain flow so it is a drop off the drain instead of being level with the tank tops?
Hello Jake. This is a totally off topic question. I saw a review you had done a while ago for Aqua Medic Algae Scrapers. They're excellent but there's problem. Where can you get replacement blades? I only see them available in the UK, which means 5 blades will wind up between the product and shipping cost around $38 which is a bit crazy. If you can refer me to any better source for the blades I would really appreciate it. Note, even at Amazon, they appear to be getting the blades offshore at about 28 for 5 blades. Thanks in advance.
What if you were to notch out a groove for the water to flow directly over the drill bit on top of the jig. Great tip though for drilling glass. I wish I watched this 3 years ago before I bought my little press lol atleast it's another trick in my book now, thank you Jake😁👍🏼👍🏼
Mateeee, you missed a perfect opportunity to edit in a “yeahhhhh” . CSI Miami style when you put those glasses on. I’m disappointed. 😄 Great video as always mate. Keep em’ coming. Side note. That 1.5” riser pipe, love the idea, but my first thought is that all that head pressure/weight of the water in the pipe can’t be good for the pump, or is this absolutely fine?
You have NO idea how much I appreciate this. I didn't think you could drill aquariums right-side-up.
Totally getting a sump now.

Thanks un02122! I'm going to have to drill my old 75g freshwater in December. Will keep that in mind! 😃

This might be my favorite picture of Jake, that is a bad ass thumbnail 😂🥲

I'm digging it. It's giving off a cool Aquarium Gallery vibe, but for saltwater! I've never cared too much for freshwater if I'm honest.
Great vid sir. I get the feel of that "motivational speaker" Ty who started in his garage showing off his car.

Pretty much the same way - lower the water level, and come in from the outside so you don’t drop the drill or get too much glass dust in the water
Great video....absolutely love that huge spacious studio👍👏👏👏congrats!
All coming together Jake😎👍
Best commentors in the world!
Studio looking great. Thank you for sharing

Can also wrap some emery cloth or sand paper around pvc pipe and clean up hole edges ... should be swimming fishes soon 👍
Thank's for the video Jake!
Great update Jake can’t wait to see the new fish
Could you have just branched out the pvc return lines that were already there to come over the top of the tank with the loc line?
Good job bro I was nervous watching you drill I've never done one so you can see why, looks great can't wait.😉✌
Where is you’re store going to be? Also how are you going to get all the glass dust out now?
it's not a store, it's a studio strictly for making videos like this. Glass dust is not a problem, it's like fine sand
I would suggest every single hole front and back use 2 piece of rubber cascade and apply a thin layer of silicon to prevent water leak.
Nice shades bro studio looks tops

Sorry I don’t know
What’s vape flavor you got?? Brass knuckles?
Cool! Thanks Jake.

I still don't have the nads to drill a tank 😂an this is why my fuge isnt set up but ima have to drill pretty soon for my horn shark an eel tank
Feeling good last night 🤔🍻. Everything is coming along nicely jake.
Love it more vids! everything else doesn’t matter
Hi Jake , great videos keep them coming , can you tell me the name of the song you use on the video?
Good Time - Snake City
Thanks
looks good
Nice ! 👌👌👌
Great job on this video👊👍
How did you drill the tanks with water and critters in it
just drop the water level and you will be fine
Scuba Guy I'll probably take it all the way down as I need to change the substrate and pretty much start all over from scratch
Drop the water level and pray to Poseidon
Very carefully 😃

Does anyone know what low pH does to your aquarium?
It doesn’t do anything to the aquarium itself, but the animals inside might care depending on what they are.
I have a pair of green chromosomes and on Sunday I will be getting a pair of clownfish
Chromis not chromosomes 😂
Man you shoulda had me there before you did all that..
Five holes in one week...nice work. Jk
