sorry to be off topic but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost my password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Bishop Jaiden thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
If you go through a sponge first with the hole saw it will fill the hole saw bit. Then you just wet the sponge in the middle and as u apply the presser to the glass the sponge will compress and release water and keep your glass nice and wet. Saves your other hand to keep it steady. Hope this will help you more............. might be quicker x
I was gonna buy the bit a few weeks ago, but I brought my 40gal up to a glass repair shop and he drilled it for me for 20 bucks, but i got the 40gal for free, I ended up turning it into a vivarium that now houses an anole and live tropical plants with a mistking misting system. I only needed the hole for a uv light. Thx for makin the vid , maybe Ill buy a diamond bit and attempt it myself next time.

One of the best and very informative video I've watched!! Well done and very helpful! Thank you for showing us the proper way to drill glass!
Will never drill a tank but best explanation of the process I've seen. Eventually a German syphon system like Greg Sage uses. U need to drill for a sump but not a trickle filter.
People seem to be very intimidated by this. But it's actually quite easy: Measure thrice, and drill slowly. Cory covers all the key points, excellent tutorial! The last tank I drilled was a $600 WaterBox. Same principles apply. (I like sumps) ...And draw an arrow on the template lol. full kits like EShopps come with templates if you want a full box. User preference though, stand pipes and weirs work just as well
You guys... what a great DIY!! I have to admit that I'm a little bit scared about drilling tanks, but you guys have taught me well and I feel like I can handle it now 😂 Thank you so much for sharing..... everything looks incredible!! The wood in the fish room looks so beautiful 😍♥️ Have a blessed day 🙏🤗🌿🌿🌿❤️
So, Ken has decided I need to occupy a different third of the basement and have even more room. Will definitely be using these tips. Can you explain fill hole verses drain and what keeps fish out of overflow?
Are there any restrictions on how close the bulkhead can be from the edge of the glass or trim? Aside from your great point about the nut fitting properly. Thanks!
Thank you Cory & Steenfott for doing this video. Appreciated information. I've 2 questions ahoyld you sand out the hole to remove sharp edges and is there a certain way one must install bulkhead to prevent leaks etc👍
Thanks Bob. I just watched his 5 year old video on drilling tanks yesterday where he did not use tape. Maybe you can cue Cory in on that so he can update his content.
Hello I think this video was a great subject to cover and you nailed it! As a super green fish keeper I'd like just a bit more advice please. I have a 10 gallon tank that I want to drill but as a rookie I don't want to drill to low. Will placement of the hole make my water line to the middle of the hole? Is there any way to raise the water line back to the bottom of the black rim? Thank you for your videos Bud
So you would build the same overflow that Cory built here. If you drill your tank in the middle. Screw on your bulk head, get a 90 degree pvp adapter, and a piece of straight pvc and cut it to length (however far to the black rim) After that you will be able to turn the 90 degree adapter down to lower the water, then move it back up when you fill up the tank.
It is pretty easy but crackincking and injuries can occur alot of precautions is needed people can sure this is indeed a well needed vidio for many however and much appreciate also on Actually tups however for those that use them saudering irons come in handy to put drain pipes also. Just for thought.
Do you have a brand aquarium tank that you know doesn't have the side glass tempered? I bought a 55 gallon from petco a while back for that dollar a gallon sale, tried this, and it shattered on me. I guess you're saying the 40gallon tanks are more likely not to be tempered?
Great video as always brother! We unfortunately have to drill one more hole in the 1000 GALLON saltwater system that we didn't even think about. This will be a vertical cut, so..should be interesting! Be sure to check us out.
Could you not clamp a piece of wood cut to the same ( minus the hole ) dimensions as your template, in place of the tape, extra support no chip out and doesn't allow it to drop through?
you should do a video if you can't drill a tank and want a sump but don't want to buy a 100 dollar overflow box I was thinking about using a powerhead.
I need to evolve my operation before I will have choice pdo this. WHen the time comes, this would certainly give me confidence. This week's trick will be installing an under sink RO system. I need someone to kick my butt so I don't just do a dodgy install at my basement laundry tubs as a cop out. Haha
All you need to test if it's tempered is some polarized sunglasses, why would you put a drill anywhere near a tank without looking? Ok, they mentioned that at the end...

@Bishop Jaiden It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
@Lochlan Seth Glad I could help xD
I will never do this but it's interesting to learn how - just because.

When I build my new fishroom i am hoping to have it more organized so knowing how to drill is very useful.
Definitely....he is very informative 👌
Bring in Dean. We need more Dean from all of the channels
Cory always professional , awesome tips !!
Yes, very informative 👏
Don’t know if I’ll ever do this but I know where to look for instructions if I do!
I want to say a MASSIVE thanks to this video as I just drilled my first tank after watching!!
Nothing but success ❤
Mr Steenfott, you've done it again! Another excellent vid👍🏿
10:32 Where do I buy the bulkhead and the overflow drop you installed?
Well done Bob and Cory!!!
Steencoop you guys rock!!!!!
Take a pair of polerized sun glasses. While looking threw them til them side to side if you see lines appear in the glass its hardened.
Love this. Reminds me of old school Koopy vids, hanging out, relaxed, just doing a thing and how to do the thing step by step.
👍💓👍
Great video
What size intake / bulkhead do you usually use on a 20 long?
Thanks
sweet dude! Drilling my 40 gallon tomorrow!!

Thanks Uncle Cory!
Cory makes it look so easy 👍🏻

You're the best bro, thanks for sharing. I'm always so nervous drilling tanks, you made it look so easy though.
Cory is a braver man than I am...I have cracked many a tank trying.
Very nice guys! Thanks for the tip!
Are there any restrictions on how close the bulkhead can be from the edge of the glass or trim? Aside from your great point about the nut fitting properly. Thanks!
Where did you buy the bulkhead fitting?
Thank for shared
Thanks guys

Great video!!
Thanks, Bob and Cory, for the super helpful video! 💙🐟💦
Yes 🙌
Where do you get that exact bulkhead he used?
What's the recommendations on checking if the tank glass is tempered
instead of using tape, clamp a bit of wood on the inside. it will give you a much cleaner cut and also spread the pressure of the clamp
I am terrified of power tools but aspire to have an auto water change tank someday!
Thanks Bob. I just watched his 5 year old video on drilling tanks yesterday where he did not use tape. Maybe you can cue Cory in on that so he can update his content.
Good information!
anyone know of a source for the overflow/bulkhead shown in the video?

great video!
Hi sir great video
I'm still too nervous to drill a tank 😳
But if I ever get over the fear, I now know how - thanks Bob and Cory💕👍
Would a bucket underneath keep from breaking the bottom?
What is the overflow attachment?
I have 20: 20 tall tanks i need to drill. I keep putting it off.
Stuff a piece of sponge/insulation/paper towel inside the hole saw. Saturate it with water. It will automatically feed your drill.
Do you have a brand aquarium tank that you know doesn't have the side glass tempered? I bought a 55 gallon from petco a while back for that dollar a gallon sale, tried this, and it shattered on me. I guess you're saying the 40gallon tanks are more likely not to be tempered?

How come you do not run sandpaper around the hole after it is drilled to take away all the sharps?
Oh great now gonna have that song in my head all night. Thanks Bob. Just kidding, best wishes. 😎 👍
White screen on phone behind glass, polarized shades. If you see bars and line shadows do not drill.
Hmm interesting never done this even when in the shop
Why not clamp a solid board underneath it will support far better.
Could you not clamp a piece of wood cut to the same ( minus the hole ) dimensions as your template, in place of the tape, extra support no chip out and doesn't allow it to drop through?
What tool for cleaning around the hole
1,000 grit wet sanding
Clamp another piece of wood underneath?
Drilled 42 10 gallon tanks between the last 2 weekends.... what a nightmare on such thin glass!!
There are easy ways to see if tempered glass or not. I drill with the fish in the tank just lower the level.
you should do a video if you can't drill a tank and want a sump but don't want to buy a 100 dollar overflow box I was thinking about using a powerhead.
put another piece of wood underneath to prevent chipout

If you use polarized sunglasses tempered glass looks like oil on water.
Great info.
Also you should be wearing safety glasses, just sayin'. 😎
This gave me bad flashbacks lol
❤️👍
just lay a towel in the tank to protect from glass falling
Not only to prevent falling also to prevent chipping. Like cutting a branch. U first cut top some and the bot, or it will tear
:) 👍👍
All you need to test if it's tempered is some polarized sunglasses, why would you put a drill anywhere near a tank without looking?
Ok, they mentioned that at the end...
Masks?
For what, there is no dust with the water.
Covid though
1st
Great vid!
