Oh yes, especially that HObbyline HO-scale 0-4-0 Yardbird steam engine and tender, and of course the Lionel 2035 O-scale steam engine and tender! Figured I'd see you here :P
@@michaelquinones-lx6ks Interesting. Along with Lionel purchasing Model Power to re-enter the HO-scale market. (I have at least a couple of Model Power products with Lionel branding.)
@@ZakWolf Thank you very much for responding to my comments, Also, AC Gilbert was in 'HO' as well, Though many of their sets were rebranded Varney or Mantua (Tyco) though you like to know.
@@Pizzagamer2K13 Well, this short was produced in 1959 because they knew it would possibly premiere some time in 1960. During that time, along with "In a Fix", they produced the newly-animated bits from when the 1956-57 episodes were divided into 6-minute shorts.
@@ZakWolf And I also have a theory about “Tree Trouble”. Since the last Gumby Show in 1957 was “In The Dough” and not “Tree Trouble”, so MAYBE Tree Trouble was made for a different reason around 1958. Another theory is that “Tree Trouble” might have aired before “In The Dough”. What do you think?
I think this Gumby episode may be one reason I got into model railroading! The train Gumby gets as a prize is an HO-scale 0-4-0 "Yardbird" steam engine and tender made by HObbyline, while the larger train Gumby bullfights is a Lionel 2-6-4 steam locomotive (number 2035.) You really do have to wonder if any of the animators on this show were into model trains...
Also worth of note is how whenever they featured the Lionel 2035 steam engine on Gumby, they'd animate it on Kusan's two-rail O-gauge track. I imagine since they were just moving it by stop-motion animation, they decided to go for realism with the track, as in real life the Lionel 2035 can only operate on three-rail O-gauge track (the minimum being O27).
Yep! It was also seen in a few other episodes (most notably "Point of Honor"), and also appeared in the "Davey and Goliath" episode "All Alone." It's fun to point out all the different model trains the Clokeys used throughout their stuff.
Neat! I remember those steam train sounds being used on "Sesame Street" as well. (Back in the 70s "Sesame Street" used several of the same sound effects as the 50s Gumby shorts did.)
I know, right? As long as Gumby had to shrink himself so he could ride on that HO-scale steam locomotive, he could've made himself small enough to climb into the cab! After all, he did that in "Toy Crazy."
My Gosh!! I remember this one from my childhood. I literally have not seen it for fifty years!!
there are 3 DVD collections of Gumby out now

every time I watch Gumby I drool over the toys that are quite collectible these days
especially all the vehicles used in it!

@@ZakWolf Lionel would purchase HObbyline when it wanted to get into 'HO' scale.

Love gumby😊👻
This is from 1960 along with “In a Fix”.
More like from 1959, produced when they were preparing the series for syndication that year.
@@ZakWolf But at 0:35 the note says “April 8, 1960”. So it should be from 1960.

(1:13 - 1:49) Hey. that's the shovel-crane thing Gumby bought with the royalties from an earlier short! :P

0:49 name, manufacturer, date released, and engine classification.
It was made by HObbyline in the 1950s, a "Yardbird" 0-4-0 switcher steam locomotive and tender car.
The title says it all.
Note: The PRR steam train sounds are from here: ruclips.net/video/aeuLArBAiFI/видео.html

Anyone know the name of the ho train in this?
It's made by HObbyline, and is a Yardbird 0-4-0 steam engine and tender.
wileyk209zback ok thanks
Probably Bachmann or Athearn those are model 🚂 train brands that I’m familiar with
Devon Hague thanks
Watchandreact i’m a model railroader myself
Gumby your supposed to ride inside the cab of the steam engine🚂 not on the cab roof

i thought it was cool when 2035 lifted his front in the air and spun his front bogey around like he is mad
Yup; it's amazing what the Clokey animators could do with a Lionel train!
It was pretty cool
