This episode actually scared the crud out of me when I was little.
It’s because of the monster, right?
Same.
Agreed. That monster looked way more scary when I was five!!!
As a side issue: I do NOT remember G and P being so violent!! Gumby drives an army jeep like a sergeant in battle, has knowledge of firing military-grade missles, uses the P.I.T. maneuver to topple and potentially kill the monster, and then the marshall shoots the monster at point-blank range, then gets eaten by the thing?!?
Same here
2:26 it's a chase score music from " night of the living dead.
I love the way Pokey's eyes bug out when he's surprized or scared hahaha
The Blockheads do the same thing lol
😱 yikes
I Love Gumby so much. Gumby was such an awesome and great animated show by Art Clokey, Gumby and Pokey are both my absolute favorite Gumby characters, and The Glob was a brilliant Gumby episode from the 1960's.
I thought I imagined this...but no. It's less terrifying than I remember, but still...wow
The first episode where Gumby has a cutout mouth, which would become the norm for him from that point on! It was also the last episode for a while where Art Clokey is Pokey's voice actor, after which Dallas McKennon (Gumby's voice actor) would take over the role, before sharing the role with Clokey and Norma MacMillan in the late 1960s episodes. (Then with the 1988 revival series, Art Clokey would be Pokey's primary voice actor again.)
Only one other time after this one did Gumby not have a completely cutout mouth. In the 1988 episode "Mirror-raculous Recovery" he has a rubber band mouth without the black fill-in in the center as he normally did. That was the first episode made for the 1988 series though,I think anyway, based on the extremely flat lighting and all of the characters looking rather sloppy and unpolished, and Goo was designed in her original sea lion form before being designed like a mermaid in the remaining episodes of the 80s episodes.
In a perfect Chester (from Gunsmoke) impersonation:
"That monster ate my ice cream cone. 'n it was a super double dip too." LMAO!
This episode (I remember it from 1964) always cracked me up! 😄
I remember this terrified me as a kid. Still does tbh
1:53 2:27
Pokey: Gumby, that monster’s still chasing us.
Gumby: **slurp** hold my ice-cream.
Monster: *Chasing Gumby to eat him alive*
Gumby: *casually eating ice cream like “lol, so what?”*
Cowboy: *calmly tells the monster to leave or he’ll shoot him.
Then gets eaten alive and continues to shoot the monster
Narrowly escapes and starts crying not because of a traumatizing experience, but because his ice cream got eaten.*
Me: This is truly an American cartoon with American heroes. 🇺🇸
Gumby , the original action adventure hero !!!
I love Gumby 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
The music heard when the glob was chasing them was a stock cue heard as the end theme to The Texan starring Rory Calhoun.
I randomly just thought about this and now I'm here
Dill Pickle is the most nonchalant Wild Westerner I've ever heard. XD
Woah this went left real quick😂😂😂
Oh no! The Glob Monster!! 😯
Ha, I get it
One of several Gumby episodes that were believed to have entered the public domain.
Man i used to LOVE this show as a kid😂
I remember this episode terrifying me as a kid
So if Gumby is making another clay person, does that make Gumby a mad scientist?
I have this permanently etched into my mind, I watched it so many times, I always thought the ice cream looked delicious. Also I can’t be sure but I think my first nightmare was related to this.
Creepy Gumby episode . The only other one that comes close is the dough and the oven episode. Somebody had some disturbed ideas
This is the last time we’re Art Clokey (creator of Gumby) voices Pokey until 1967, 1987-1988 and 1995.
4:14
permanently etched into my little brain with how that motherhubbard scared the piss out of me when little
0:48, Reel D-41, TC-48, is a ZIV Tune, the first of 2 ZIV Tunes in this episode. The other are start at 4:11, TC-68.
2:26, Reel D-41, TC-416, Heavy Agitato, used on Night Of The Living Dead, and Hideous Sun Demons. It was used on countless number of TV programs, many years ago.
Gumby: "Bullseye!"
*licks ice cream
This episode has 6 cuts from Reel D41, They are TC-402, TC-404, TC-48 (ZIV), TC-414, TC-415 The Texans theme), and TC416, but not in this order.
4:11, Reel D-3, TC-68, is a ZIV Tune.
This episode terrified me because as a child I misheard "ice cream " for "eyes" and thought the glob just ate his eyes and spit him back out. I then proceeded to just hide under my blanket for the rest of the episode and was too scared to watch the rest.
Holy shit
Gumby: the movie
Yeap, I'll have to admit that this scared me too. I was about 3 or 4 years old when I first saw this. Even today when I think of monsters this is what I envision. Either that or an angry wife or an IRS Agent.
I wonder if Pat Buttram did the voice for Marshall Dill Pickle, sounds just like him.
No, it’s Dallas McKennon.
This is the first time we’re Gumby has a cutout mouth.
is that Dennis Weaver voicing Marshall Dillpickle?!
No, it’s Dallas McKennon.
What's that stock music at 0:16?
I have a bad memory but, I remember that filthy rat. The Glob!
wow they really used the soundtrack for night of the living dead here
Marshal dillpickle dies in endgame
i once had a nightmare after watching Gumby where all the characters were screaming and getting killed in awful ways like the horse was torn limb from limb
this actually happened. I had a generic creepypasta dream, I was like 6
1:18 yikes 😱
1:06 1:08 1:04 1:07
Love the German plane
it seems to me that they rewrote the story line with Gumby so that he can withstand Ice Cream. originally it was story lined so that Ice Cream made Gumby so cold and stiff that he couldn't move, which was shown in The Little Lost Pony.
What's that stock music at 0:16?
If anyone remembers Gumby The Movie from 1995, this episode was shown at the beginning on the TV screen on the moon.
Ha. I just noticed it!
Same here man!
But, there's a small difference I heard in the movie. I believe Pokey said "Gumby, I can't get the top off this thing yet" while the cartoon was playing. But this episode clearly shows different.
68corvette08 I recognized it too
68corvette08 hell yes, I remember that.
I saw this in 1973, and it scared me for years afterward. So cool to see that there was good reason for that!
+James McCoy lol
+Kabillion Channel wtf gumby sux
+James McCoy I remember as a toddler in the late 80s watching this shit & I thought he was made out of gum because of his name and look. So because of that I used to try to make the characters out of gum I chewed abd fucked up mad school clothes doing it lol. My folks didn't let me watch that shit again until junior high school. Good times; weird show.
What scare you
James McCoy ytttttyygytThe has u r
that monster scared me when i was little :O
Kind of embarrassing maybe, but
just I loved Gumby as a child, I
love him as an a ----- an holder kid !
Thank You for the youthful treat.
That Glob used to scared the living shit out of me when i was little
I already love monsters and dinosaurs, and this was just one of those many treats in GUMBY. :)
I predicted the monster just wanted ice cream.
gumby is the stuff of nightmares
These are great with the original sound and voice tracks!
+MindMeme Agreed. A funny thing is, on this short, both versions seem to have the same voice cast, with Dallas McKennon as Gumby and Marshal Dil Pickle, and Art Clokey as Pokey.
I remember watching this when I was younger. I loved it! It seems a little different after all the years, though. My dad mentioned it and I was SO excited to see it! It's not as cool as I remember it..
+Moriah Davenport I agree!
Wow. Plastic toy ICBM missiles complete with launcher. I guess every kid had those back then.
Aww, so that monster only wanted some ice cream!
+wileyk209zback The cue when the monster escapes form the book (the one in "Pre-Hysterical Hare" when Bugs starts the projector) is from "The Texan"-TC-415A Heavy Agitato-the Texan Theme! Numeric title corrected as of 6/16/17
Wdvggsgwwwsqqfgdh fr best if hi what you are talking about her I can but cheek on a stick gu
Gumby remains me my childhood 👦
The moment I like is when The Glob smashes into the book 3:32
Do you see how it looks at the camera in confusion?
That Sheriff is very brave to deal with The Glob 4:29
If a 9-shot six-shooter can't stop a clay monster, nothing can.
Reminds me of that original Johnny Quest episode with the electricity-eating blob.
I miss season 1 Gumby's voice and looks. :( He was so cute.
Oh my stars and heaven! Gummy has created a monster!!! lol lmbo
GUMBY dumb ass not Gummy .
An episode I saw over forty years ago was so damn weird... a strange crate fell off a truck and Gumby, Pokey and Nopey got pulled into some oddball place everything was unexpectedly strange!
Yes, very similair to IN A FIX< OF CLAY AND CRITTERS> Though the title is John Steinbeckian, the story is more Lewis Carroll/C S LEwis./TOlkien like.
The music used during the title screen was used in Night of the Living Dead.
+cinemafanatic2010 The music where the blob comes out of the book and Gumby gets onto the SAM launcher is also used in Night of the Living Dead. William Loose was a composer of stock music for film and TV. He started at Capitol records in the mid-50s, right around the beginning of the "Gumby" series. When I heard this I thought that Gumby might've borrowed the music from NOTLD, until I realized this cartoon predates the Romero classic by ten years!
Steve Flood Do you think these tracks are available online?
The was also heard in the end titles to The Texan.
Here is the source: ruclips.net/video/NV2H4iydxOk/видео.html
CinemaFanatic Productions it is the same music lol👻
Reminds me of the thing in basketcase
This is a classic
I used to wacth this show
I know this was a year ago but still I enjoy this show very much ever since it was on dvd
Or animation lol
I remember watching this episode when it first aired, and it scared the bejeebers out of me! It's still creepy to this day IMO. Outstanding clay work on the Glob!! // I wish RUclips would prohibit the use of foul language -- especially on sites like this one that cater to young people.
DITTO.
Screw the danger, I'm not letting go of my good ice cream cone
*OUT OF THIS HOUSE*
*O U T O F T H I S H O U S E*
i like this and it,s cool
I'll bet the monster got brain freeze from all that ice cream
In season one Gumby couldn't eat ice cream because it would make him cold and stiff
Character development
I saw a stop motion on this
Hi
1:03 wtf is that is scare for nothing
wow uploaded on 2015? YA.... ARE U SUREEEEEEEEEEe
Isn't it a bit ridiculous how both Gumby and the Marshall use guns on the thing?
Guns don't work on blobs or globs...
I remember seeing this as a kid and being creeped out by the glob.
but still, a glob is basically a giant bacteria.
Why would it have teeth?
Clokey never had a fact-checker.
I guess back when this was published imagination was everything.
It's pure fantasy for kids dude, and in fantasy anything goes, esp in the world of claymation.
:')💜
So much product placement
DO A BACKFLIP
DO A BARREL ROLL
Why is gumbys voice weird in this episode
he had a cold
You're too high cookie that's why .
@Stickman Cartoons not a different voice actor. The same guy voiced Gumby from 1955 - 1995. His name was Dallas McKennon. This was an early episode, so McKennon was a little younger, whereas in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, his voice aged quite a bit
Gumby always freaked me out idk y
How freak you out
same
cuz its clay but i love coraline
I don't remember Gumby being this sinister. My daughter was scared out of her wits and I was afraid too
Tom Cho gosh then you don't wanna see the episode "small planets". That's scary with the kid and piano X(
What scare her
Kawaii Lannie or into the dough from the 50s episodes
Hey that song sounds like Night Of The Living Dead (1968)
I KNOW! I JUST HEARD IT! IT'S SO SURPRISING!
gumby banging horses
1:03 ruclips.net/video/4PcCMTZoWok/видео.html
I wonder if the people that became republicans thought Gumby was some sort of demon so they joined the GOP?
+crypto457 I'm a GOP Gumby fan.
THIS STINKS! SO NOT REAL GUMBY
