That would make sense considering this show was put out by the ULCA, now the ELCA to teach young kids about Christian ethics through the medium of television.
My generation grew up to this inspiring show but it saddens me how unmoral selfish we've all become , you would think we would have all become better human beings
This was one of the few choices I would get to watch on a Sunday after church at my house growing up. It was either Davey and Goliath, Larry Ferrari playing his organ or Al Alberts Showcase. I guess that's why I always was outside playing with my army men and digging holes in the yard instead of sitting inside watching TV on Sundays. :)
I appreciate the message, the innocence, and the positive. Why don't you read up on the history of this show and especially "clay animation" maybe you won't LOL and find it tooo funny.
In the NY area it ran sunday mornings mainly. Saturday was for all the latest, new, cool cartoons, Sunday mornings had all the lame ones. We mostly made fun of it.
Davey was actually a good neighbor. He helped to take Mary home to her mother. But for the others, they got a good neighbor balloon but they were bad neighbors because they didn't help Mary get home. But Davey did.
@robert32568 Chocolate ice cream won't hurt the dog. Only cacao hurts them, like Dark Chocolate. It has a high percentage of cacao. Milk Chocolate, like a Hershey's Bar, has a very low percentage. Chocolate ice cream has nearly zero cacao in it.
Dick Beals' Davey was more light and airy and had more of an accent about it; Norma's had less of an accent to it, and it sounded more harsh at times, but both people did a good job at capturing the character, they especially shined whenever Davey was angry, sad, or really happy. think
ADULT LIFE! - McJuggerNuggets (Note: I am not really saying that, I am joking because if I really said that, I would be mean to that girl that fell off the Wagon.)
Yes, claymation in general is very creepy. i remember Gumby and Pokey used to freak me out too. The religious aspect of Davey and Goliath makes it particularly frightening.

Maybe some of these kids cartoons might be “old looking“, but you can’t deny the message. That’s why I like a lot of kids story books, cartoons, and TV shows. I truly do not understand the grown-up TV shows anymore. Comparing the kids shows the grown-up shows be like comparing I happy kids birthday party To a never ending miserable documentary on atrocities worldwide. How can you call the latter entertainment?
Were Lutheran kids really like this back in the 60s? At 7:30 I feel like the glasses boy was trying to figure out whether to help the crying helpless girl or victimize her. She's so dumb and annoying, I was hoping something bad would happen to her.
Where in the Bible does it say “anybody who needs our help is our neighbor”? Mark 12:31 kjv came from Leviticus 19:18 kjv...so the neighbor is a neighboring Israelite from tribe to tribe...they were the only people who were ever given the Commandments Psalms 147:19,20 kjv lol
Thank You for posting this!! I use to watch it all the time... I loved it.. They show true meaning and love.... ❤❤❤❤.....
Its a shame this isnt seen today. Such good lessons
t
Love David and Goliath series. Haven’t seen it in forever ❤
What a great show I watched as a kid with an important message. Society is in need of these shows now more than ever before.
Totally agree!💯💯💯!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing this video poor Mary, good Davy & goliath who helped the girl story reminded me of the good samaritan.
When I was little I remember laughing so hard when Jimmy's balloon popped lol. I'm almost 50 these shows are old!
God is amazing and loves us and we should love each other. I am still learning at 45.
Barn fire the good old days I sure miss lighting a fire in the front lawn . What could go wrong 😂
This reminds me of the good Samaritan story. 😍😍😍
That's what it was based on.
That would make sense considering this show was put out by the ULCA, now the ELCA to teach young kids about Christian ethics through the medium of television.
In fact, Davey decide to make a decision to give up fun things by helping this girl with the Wagon and taking her home.
This was a beautiful show. One of the most progressive shows of the 60s. Perhaps THE most.
And you'll recgonize the background music in everyhting from YOGI BEAR to REN AND STIMPY..curotesy of J.Seely and Jack Shaindlin.
@@SteveCarras AND Gumby.

We watching this show all the time back in the 70s, but we didn't take its moral lessons seriously. Even our parents laughed at it.
I sometimes thought that God popped Jimmy's balloon because he ignored the lost girl!
Watching this as a moral orel fan is hilarious 😭
You should check out Davey and the son of Goliath.
It's the middle point of the evolution from Davey and Goliath into Moral Orel
Fr, Moral Oral is just a dark Davey and Goliath, the characters look a like too lol
Watching moral Orel as a davey and goliath fan is immaculate. Bravo Dino
I love both
I do too@@Sebman1113

I think Mary and Sally would be good friends and could play dolls and tea party together 😊
They almost look like sisters
"How'd you kids like to rake my leaves?"
"F*** you, gramps! What are we, social services?!"
There should have been a 'Gumby meets Davey' crossover episode that would have been something.
I appreciate the message, the innocence, and the positive. Why don't you read up on the history of this show and especially "clay animation" maybe you won't LOL and find it tooo funny.
R.I.P CLOKEY. GREAT HUMAN
Lmao 😂 i remember watching this a few years ago, still funny af
I remember watching a couple episodes in the 2000s i just never knew the name.
This is one of the original shows that I would have seen in the 60s growing up and it seems to me they had this show on Sundays where I lived.
In the NY area it ran sunday mornings mainly. Saturday was for all the latest, new, cool cartoons, Sunday mornings had all the lame ones. We mostly made fun of it.
Some of the people commenting could use God in your lives.
wow we watch this in church when i was a young Davey and Goliath a good Christian show
I pray you be saved and know the Lord and we can be good neighbors to one another. :)
I loved this show as a kid
Wait a minute, in the beginning Davey gave the ice cream to i don't know how to spell his name but the dog, BUT IT WAS CHOCOLATE😱
robert32568 lol bad Davey!!!

Chocolate ice cream has nearly zero cacao in it.
I guess Davy doesn't know chocolate kills dogs
That poor girl!
Thank you for an inspiration cartoon for children and adults to learn the ways of God
My fav cartoon as a child
Wtf? This isn't Moral Orel.
Because it's a parody of Davey and Goliath
I really hate moral orel
And I really saw it and it's horrible
It's better than moral orel ;)
Dick Beals voiced Davey in the 60's,then Norma McMillan in the 70's. Both voices almost sounded alike!

I liked the episode about the sick neighbor ❤
The days when there were morals in our society. All of us the kids in my NY neighborhood watched this when were were very little in the late 60s
“Great big balloons 🎈 “. , said Goliath. 🎈

I agree with you. At least you have a heart.
I hope I get a red balloon 🎈
1:50 Davey just killed Goliath feeding him that chocolate ice cream.
Did people use to have open fires in their lawn? lol
Yup, and smoked indoors, free ranged their kids, and ignored seat belts.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm sure we all appreciate the irony.
The mom could of least said thank you !!
Be a good neighbor. Just like State Farm
Remind me of Oral Moral. The Show that airs on Cartoon NETWORK after robot. Chicken
And a crappy one at that. The writers are parodying a show that they clearly don't even understand.
Nothing worth watching there.
That story reminds me of “The Good Samaritan”
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"Good Neighbors scene"

Moral Orel is a better Christan claymation
Moral Orel is a piece of crap. The writers are lampooning a show that they clearly don't even understand.
Girl running @ 12:12 you're welcome. Also, I wanna big hat that says "MAYOR".
The magical trubador saints of the lord have no faces... :o
13:44 Take that for not helping that girl that fell off her wagon and was hurt in the park!
See? God IS watching
And has a a sense of humor.
6:19 it all falls apart! Yo! She bust her arse bad. Lol
7:11 yo... Now that was Savage!
Can put my finger on exactly why, but this show always creeped me out when I was a little kid. Watching it now it still sends a shiver up my spine.
Yes, claymation in general is very creepy. i remember Gumby and Pokey used to freak me out too. The religious aspect of Davey and Goliath makes it particularly frightening.
The intro with the horns also spooks me. Don't know why.

Until now
Geese telling dad he gives Davey hard time over a quarter when he already got jiped
A quarter was pretty good for a kid back then
Sally helped Davey get a balloon for herself and the family of Davey and Goliath as well.
7:33 Young Bill Gates was a Butt
7:33 That’s Teddy, not a Young Bill Gates.
7:34 ADULT LIFE!
Since when does a Mayor wear a hat proclaiming himself as The Mayor ? Pompous ?
This is young children. I would think you are old enough to understand that.
This episode made me SO MAD as a kid... too bad John Quiñones was a thing back then lol
I wonder what color balloons were offered
Don't worry Racist thier were no white balloons. .

I didn’t know this was a Christian show
It was produced by the Lutheran Church

Oh, it's the millennial generation.
I miss the days when kids were taught things like this instead of how to be drag queens.

I agree with the message of helping people but it's stupid that the little girl can remember her first name but not her last name 💨
