Yo wot mine was 20 bucks well worth it cause its been 3 years i mean pretty good time for a 20 dollar mic/headset but i started making friends n joining bug ass parties with a bunch of people n thats when my headset died …… but 80 is a bit much cant lie..
This was helpful, i didnt think of reversing the HDMI cable and that that would have any effect what so ever. Sound went away over night, restarting the tv and ps4 while having their power cables disconnected didnt help, but doing so AND reversing the hdmi cable reversed restored sound. So odd, thanks for the heads up.
None of these fixes worked, but to be productive i found a suggestion that said to go to your tv remote select a different hdmi channel then go back... this was the only solution to my problem, wasted 45 minutes reinitializing, hope to save someone from that
I think I know how. First go into settings. Then go devices. Then audio devices. Now go down to output to headphones. Choose ‘all audio’. Hope this helps!

Remember if you reset all the audio settings and the audio working through your tv and not the headset make sure you change the (output to headphones) setting back to (all audio) in the (audio device's) section of the (Devices) section in the (Settings) read steps backwards
I fixed it!!!!! My ps4 is connected to optical to soundbar. Suddenly tv had no sound from hdmi from ps4. Only on soundbar. Tv showed hdmi/dvi dvi. Went to my old samsung and went to setting on remote. Made dvi to game or tv. And walla my sound is baaaack!!!!!! Played alot with the remote till I got it. The problem is when kids play with your remote. God bless.

Even if I set the main audio output as hdmi to tv. It always worked. Just tonight. Then did settings and thought my optical cable is now screwed. But i changed it again some settings. At least I have sound through optical cable now. But I also want it through the tv when the soundbar is put off. My samsung tv has only 1 hdmi insert port. What do you think friend?
When I go to audio output settings there is no HDMI output choice and I haven’t been able to hear you through my headphones on and it’s progressively gotten worse starting from the very bad lagging and cutting out in audio then changing into literally no audio coming through my headphones. Hi i know this is old but i just replayed my ps4 after like 4months for ragnarok. My volume is all at max using hdmi and used to work great and had to lower it in games since it was too high but today all is maxed out and i games but its like 30-40% lower then before. im not sure what to do, tried changing the hdmi cable tried my headphone directly but same results :(

Whenever I plug in earphones into the controller and I try to turn down the sound on the tv, it stays the same, so if there is 0 sound going on the tv there is still sound through the earphones, I need help
So I can't figure out the ps4 issue. I have my samsung tv hooked to an arc supported samsung sound bar in the arc port. My ps5 is connected into the the sound bar. And audio is never an issue. My ps4 however it's connected to an hdmi port on my TV. It will pay out of the speaker briefly but cut back to the TV speakers for no reason. - we discovered that it happens when we switch from game to ps menu and vice versa - switch from a standard hdmi port to the gaming port doesn't make a difference. - we tried alot of online suggestions, but nothing seems to work Does anyone know what's going on and why it doesn't stay playing on the speakers? I don't care about arc features for the ps4, I just want to use my speakers and only speakers for sounds to come out of. All cables are 8k compatible.

Another thing to add is go into settings - system - voice operational settings (turn on) - view guide, then follow voice commands. Hope this helps.

Yea for me it was the same. Unplugging TV and ps4 did the trick. Switching hdmi ports didn't do it and switching out the cable didn't as well.
