Mell "We went over a lot of info today."
So so true but this is important. I think I understand but I could be wrong so its
✔✔ First Phase Prep - 4:55 ✔✔
✳Whilst hair is wet apply:
1. Moisturizing products e.g leave in condition.
2. Products containing glycerin or other humectants such as 2:17.
Tip💡: On curly and coily hair brush evenly for best distribution but ensure looser curls or wavy textured hair is very wet first.
✔✔ Second Phase Style - 7:59 ✔✔
✳ Section hair for better control then apply:
1. Curl enhancing/defining cream ( Note: it is okay to use products in this step which contain glycerin however ensure that in the poduct listing there are occulsive sealing ingredients that counter it such as petrolatum, mineral oil , coconut oil or dimethicone)
2. Gel or mousse for hold that contains polyquaternium-4 (Or these 10:24 really important for dealing with humidity)
Tip💡: Define curls using denmin brush. Style using the 90 degree technique shown here I think.
ruclips.net/video/P2r4EhEOz64/видео.html
Tip💡: Dippity doo is lighter than the Aussie which has a heavier cream which is better for thicker hair.
✔✔ Third Phase Finish - 10:30 ✔✔
✳ Begin hover diffusing I think this is the technique
ruclips.net/video/TZYZEl_cylc/видео.html
Pro tip💡: If humidity is high air dry inside.
🚨⚠ Don't forget happy hour while diffusing. Yes correct me if I am wrong Mell but I believe this is mandatory.
✳ Once dry apply final occlusive product.
Tip 💡: Holy Grail for real humidity and thick hair 11:43
✳ Scrunch and fluff.
✳ Refresh in a couple days. Get products that can be apply on dry hair.
Now for bloopies💜💜💜💜💜

Mel you know I want that superfreaky parody.
And one more thing in the GGD Great Glycerin Debate you said:
"We have been really hard on glycerin in previous videos?" 1:21
We??? Me didn't say jack so u could hang your head in shame by yourself lmao.
Ah Texture Tuesday I love you and I learnt a lot thank you Mell this was funducational and Amanda we missed you today but thank you for everything you did to make this possible.
DAMN this was nearly as thorough as my storyboard! I so appreciate the effort haha ❤️❤️
You are my hero for listing this!!! :)
Thank you for posting this! I was just feeling overwhelmed with the amount of info!!
Yes I got something like Aussie curl cream, Aussie mousse, then Aussie serum or frizz ease... it was alot of AMAZING info so thanks for the summary I can go back to when I try this routine 😊
Thank youuu!!! ❤️❤️❤️
just saying: your summer series should be called hot curl summer 🤪
GURRRLLLLLLLLLLL you did something there. Yas🙌🏻🙌🏻
Ahhhh yassss
I second this!!!!!!
TOTALLY agreeeee!!!
Turn it up and throw a tantrum!🤪
Mel do more videos talking about people with a looser curl pattern please!!!!!
I second that! I'm just starting out with trying to enhance my naturally wavy hair and it's been trial and error so far. I have a lot of hair that's not really that fine, so I've always been generous with my products the way curlies are, but I'm finding that for my wave pattern, less is more. I also have stringy clumps at the bottom of my head that don't hold a curl the same way as the hair on the top. Any dedicated insight on type 2 hair would be helpful.
Yess
+1 for loose, swavy curls videos!
@@mcorrales87 if you have lo get wavy hair try sleeping with it damp in 2-3 braids it might turn out great.
Yes pllzzi have loose waves n fine wavy hair thin as well I can get curls but I need helppp
Please make a guide for thin, fine curly hair!
oh yes I would love this! If I use products like Mel my hair ist straight, flat and absolutely not good.
@@jess_hairstrengthstory I have my routine for fine thin hair on my insta. @hairbymorganshay
Yes!
I appreciate that you recommend drug store stuff and not just trying to sell us on high end. Thanks for helping me understand and appreciate my curls
Ya'll better get out your note books! Cuz the best teacher in town is teachin, and she's damn well doing a good job!!! Love you Mell.
YASSSS thank you love u!!💖💖
Girl you’re single handedly getting me through this quarantine with your golden content
wow i am so honoured
Yes yes and..... Yesss💕😁
Mell you completely saved my hair. I've spent all of middle school in braids because I had no idea how to take care of my hair. Seventh grade I was so close to picking up a straightener but then I saw your channel. Let me just say you saved me from going down that path and I've never been happier with my hair and my body. Thank you so much for that. My confidence is all because of how you helped me. Thank you so much
Rania Asad please explain me what you did... I’m having troubles with my hair too and I don’t know how to solve them 😞
Last time I was this early corona was still a drink

This definitely shows that the "curly girl method" is not the only answer. You can use a combination of methods and products for your custom routine but not one routine is good for everyone. Mell doesn't follow the CGM an her hair looks amazing. The proof is in the pudding.
rainepanda Exactly what i was thinking. She uses silicones and yet her hair looks just perfect!
I tried curly girl for a few weeks and my hair was a mess, I now use products with no silicones or sulphates. I have recently looked back on photo’s and my hair looked better with using them. So thinking of starting over and doing what I use to do years ago.
I've been DYING for your humid weather tips! I live in central Florida and the actual temp was in the upper 80s by the end of February this year! Early March and the heat index was mid 90s!
Floridian hair, don’t care 🤷🏻♀️
SAME!!!!!
I always look for tips for humidity hair! Especially those who live in Louisiana and Florida! I live in Texas and the humidity is off the charts. Even keeping makeup on my face is a challenge
Yep! I was laughing when she talked about it warming up and perfect time for glycerine, which is between 40 and 50 F. Lol, that's winter for us in Southeast Texas.
Yeah it pretty much stays in the 80s here in South Carolina with 80-100% humidity 🥵 no glycerin for this girl lol
Can you make a video on how to choose the products that are right for you hair
I love how you give us cheaper alternatives to some of your more pricey ones. Especially since we are stuck at home! Your hair is gorgeous. I am new to Curly Girl methods, and I mix some of that but since I saw one of your videos, I now get all my info from you and listen to my hair! You are a God-send!
For those of us with loose wave, any advice is appreciated🥰 btw love that eyeshadow color on you, beautiful!!
Yes please! Routine for looser waves :)
I think she's done one in the past, but really her tips work for wavies too. I've followed a lot of her tips and my hair actually curls now and not just wave a bit
Ok⛺🎦📺🎡🎭
Yes ok📺🎦⛺🎺🎷🎹🎻🎼🎶🎵🎤🎧📼🎸〽
Oh my God, being a curly girl is hard 😂 you have to check the weather forecast and check the humidity or for any rain or wind lmao
But I do be seeing all hair textures looking crazy with these conditions too so we’re all in this together 😂❤️
I thought I was the only person who used John Frieda Frizz Ease products, so glad Mell likes it too
Hi does help hair that is really dry. But we you put some gel on it it becomes oily
Your hair grew alot mashallah ❤
just wanted to say that you inspire me in my curly hair journey❤
Nice to see a fellow Muslim like me watching this, السلام عليكم 💕
@@leilakabgrad123 عليكم السلام fellow muslim❤😂
I love how your videos are both informative and hilarious 😂
I used ur theory with the products I had on hand. My over grown haircut needing 40 yr old self had some of the best curls i have had in a month! Thanks so much!
Hair length GOAL !!
gurl, I literally opened youtube to watch your old Spring video for styling tips before I wash my hair today and saw you uploaded a new one! Your timing is *chef's kiss *
I live in Florida & I'm an entire poodle most the time, cannot wait to try these tips! Mel you not only have the most Beautiful hair I've ever seen but your nails are Devine! 🔥
Yayy I clicked right away ! My hair has never looked better since I started using a denman brush on my 2c/3a curls ,thank you mell for helping my curly journey as a 16 year old curly headed child 😂💜
I have the same texture but the denman brush helped me it’s awesome 👏🏻
Annie Petersen same for me. I didn’t know that brush until I watched her videos.
Annie Petersen starting out so early you will have great hair your whole life 🔥
I have 2c/3a curls too and I am 15 I want to try Denman but I am a broke 15 year old whose parents think it is ridiculous to spent huge amount on a hair brush lol so I use a normal brush 😂😂 but it works 🤷🏻♀️😅
salwa as denman brush is 10 dollars on amazon maybe save up for it and get it there
Love your new hair tone👌
Me too 😍😍 I like my colour nice and natural looking!
this woman is amazing, i laughed so hard with the HHEO formula🤣❤️ love it so much! Really helpful information in the funniest way ever, where? HERE by Manes By Mell 🤭❤️❤️❤️❤️
You’re so kind 😍❤️❤️❤️ glad you loved it😘😘
@@ManesByMell you are awesome! 🥺❤️❤️ thanks to you for always giving much needed light and laughs 🥺❤️
Talk to us about dry summer climates! Humidity is almost non existent. Loved this one and the explanation it all makes so much sense now!
Wow, your hair looks fabulous! Wish I had curls like that.
I always assumed "prepping" was wash and condition. Your sense of humor is amazing 😊
I love your way of teaching 😍
I’m glad you like it 😍😍
Love that you really talk about thick course hair and still using dimethicone.
Question: Does anybody else have curly hair on the front of your hair and straight (or stringy) hair in the back?
melissa meza yes !!!!
Yup! At the nape I shaved it off too, I wanted an undercut, but It grows back straight at the root and into waves. Its crazy lol
Same!!! Makes me not want to keep going on transition journey if only front is curls and back is straight 😞🥺
Yes!!!! Mel, what can we do? Will my straight hairs ever curl? Help!
OMG YES. My hairline is literally a different curl pattern/texture than everything else. I have no idea what to do.
This video helped me so much. I've been dealing with super frizzy and rough hair for months. I did the strand elasticity test and it broke almost immediately. I went to my products and all of them seem to have a lot of moisturizing ingredients, so I was lost. THEN (!!!) I noticed all of my styling products have glycerin within the first 3 ingredients. I live in the south, where it's always humid even when it's freezing.
So I started over. I clarified and followed with a good mask, and switched out my products so I'm only using 1 with glycerin, and layering plenty of polyquats and sealing ingredients over that.
One. wash. was all it took. My hair is completely different, just from getting rid of about 90% of the glycerin.
Thank you!! ❤️
Giiiirl, your advice literally saved my hair 🎉 When I started retraining my hair to be curly, I didn’t really know what to do, but your channel saved my ass 🙏🏻 Getting ready for the ‘hot curl summer’ 🌟
yes currlllll!!!
Thank you! I was so confused for almost almost 2 years, now I think I finally understand.
Oh hi it’s my main girl mell, your curls are life.
😍❤️❤️
Please continue this series !
Do you maybe have some tips for more wavier, fine hair types? I always struggle with getting volume cause my waves/curls form mostly at the bottom of my hair. The rest just falls flat on my head
fussfo definitely style hair upside down, put products in when the hair is soaking wet so the hair doesn’t get weighed down when drying. I avoid products with Shea butter and heavy moisturisers because my fine hair gets greasy and straight easily.
Same here! Styling upside down helps to a degree, but it usually goes flat when my hair doesn’t quite need a haircut, but has gotten a little heavy since the last one.
I find sometimes my hair needs more protein and less moisture so styling products with moisture can help but also the right shampoo and conditioners. I mix my hair cream with water and spray it on so it's evenly distributed. It's a difficult balancing act for sure for our type. Maybe try finger coiling or the jump rope technique.
I would love that! I have
Curl type: 2B
Hair texture: Fine density
Porosity: Medium porosity hair.
This is the BEST and most informative video ive seen on curls. THANK YOU! I needed this information exactly!!
Thank you so much for your channel! I just discovered your channel this week during the blessed quarantine, and what an eye opener! I've been on my curly journey for about 3 years and I've watched A LOT of videos trying to figure it all out, and I have to say, I've had so many a-ha moments watching your videos, and I've learned more from you in this week than I have in the last 3 years. Thank you! I finally had a run of 2 successful wash and styles! That's anazing for me. I can finally wear my hair down most of the day instead of putting it in a bun on top of my head for 6 days until it's time to wash it again and have only 1 good hair day a week. I finally feel like I'm starting to know what I'm doing. Long way of saying THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for sharing this with me and welcome to the channel 😍🥰
🤣🤣 ‘she’s a purple freak!!’ 🤣🤣 I love the videos - always informative and fun but the bloopers at the end are just amazing 🤣🤣🤣 Never Change Mell your like an explosion of joy every texture Tuesday!!
I was missing you so much that I was watching your old videos on loop.
🥺😍😍❤️ them throwbacks are all gems tho 😂😂🙌🏻
Thank you! Humidity tips are so necessary in south Texas! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! xoxo
“ Like a hydrated HUG” ❤️☺️
Girl... YOU ARE MY FAVORITE!!!!
Your so nice, funny and smart. Be blessed.
Thanks for the humid video! Can we also see a dry climate weather hair routine? :)
I love watching your videos. I have learned so much over the past month when I stumbled across your video of your wash day routine. I've always had super thick, super curly hair and my Tío is a hair dresser. He gives me alot of tips, product suggestions, always cuts my hair according to my curls. I've learned that I've been using the right products - the wrong way. I would just plop on my curl cream or gel and get to the rest of my day after washing. Watching your videos, I've learned what a wash day should look like - and how to properly refresh my hair when needed. I got a big hair cut this past weekend ( went from down my back length to just about chin length) and my Tío said that my hair looks the healthiest it has been in the last few years.
Yooooo. Who is the one loser that had the audacity to give this a thumbs down LMAO. Y'all are crazy. As always, Mell brought it. Great tips, education and tutorial on the why and how to get those lucious curls. Thank you Mell!
Maybe the CGM anti-cones police... 😒
Oh no it’s two now 😞
I was thinking the same thing
You know there always gotta be a hater or 2 lol but if you ain't got no haters you ain't POPPINNN LOL
I was a bit shocked to see the thumbs down. It’s a funny and informative video. You can’t diss that!
Brilliant! One of the best channels for explaining how to care for curly hair. My fine curls still require lots of begging, pleading and praying but I'm getting there 😂 would love to know if mell has any content about how to protect curls from the rain and wind? I live in the UK where there is constant rain and wind - at least when we're not stuck indoors!
My mom used to use that John Frieda serum on my hair way, way back. It's the OG.
I'm watching this video the third time to memorize it. It's the most useful glycerin related video ever!
Yesss !! At work in my break about to catch 10 minutes in 🤣🤣🤣 l💜🌀💜
😍😍😍💜
Irish summers are prefect for this... Yus... Two weeks of the year!
“She’s a Purple Freak!! Purple Freak!” 😆💜
Girllll lavender looks so pretty on you 💜
My hair is more like your seester's, coarse, thick, looser curls. You mentioned that when applying leave in to apply to really wet hair and then brush it in for all over coverage but should I be applying my stylers to really wet hair also? I get wet frizz and it all goes to shit
if you can, try to apply most of if not all, your products in the shower, it helps a lot in terms of avoiding frizziness
You can watch her video on how she styles Amanda’s hair
PLEASE a video for fine wavy hair!!!! THANK YOUU!
I literally never comment but I love your channel so much. You've taught me loads about how to care for and style my 3b/c curls. I had no idea I was doing everything wrong until I started watching your videos! Now I love my curls more than ever. Still aiming for your luscious curls and THAT VOLUME THO?!! Lots of love from London xxx
aweee well thank you so much for commenting!! I love to hear that im so glad i could help! xoxoxo
I love your channel!! What would you say about hotter and drier climates? I live in Southern California and its almost always 80 degrees or above. And the summers are so so so hot. Hoping this series answers those questions! So excited about it!! Also I added these Aussie products to my cart at Target.
Sometimes I have a hard time paying attention to what Mell is saying because I'm just sitting there staring at how beautiful her hair is the whole time XD
Can you do a video on your thoughts on perming hairs? Who should get one? What types/kinds are there? DIYs ya or na? And anything else that we should know about perms 💁🏻♀️
I love the bloopers the best. "She's a purple freak, purple freak." 😂😂
I always love your pink/purple makeups, they suit you so well!
Awe thank you!
Hi Mell!! 👋🏽 First! ❤️ Thanks for this in depth info about glycerin!! It is the devil for my high-porosity hair, but I’m gonna try it again now that it’s the spring time! ☺️
I see you 😍
Watching this in the Walmart hair isle>>>>>>
I love how creative she is with her content and using catchy ways to help us remember things. You go Mell! Love your videos!
I just discovered your channel and Im obsessed! You are so fun and so knowledgeable!!
ladies with straight hair envy curly hair ladies, this video proof curly hair need extreme care unlike straight hair
Mells makeup is so pretty
Can you do a video on styling tips for people with loser curls/early in the transitions
These are some of the best most entertaining curly hair videos I’ve ever seen!
I’m turning 32 tomorrow and have been styling my hair all wrong my whole life. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Mell since I truly made the decision to take care of my curly locks, your videos have been my guide and inspiration - thanks so much. Hoping you can do a vid for looser curls, thick hair and a very hot and humid climate (I live in Hong Kong). Thank you 😊
I'm early for the first time in my life 🤣 yaaass to spring curly tips

I love your hair and you inspire me and my curl hair

I would love to see a video on how to style and maintain curls on the lake and camping! I'm new to the cgm and I'm nervous about keeping my curls this summer!

Hair info and review...awesome!
But your makeup now, sooooo soft and pretty in pink - wow!
“HHEO” reminds me of the Banana Boat (Day-O) song in the Beetlejuice movie. Lol Anywho, this method has always worked for me. 👍🏼🥳
Just what this Caribbean girl needed!
Finally at the age of 28 I’ve learnt to love my natural curls, thank you.
I like that u give the scientific info of the ingredients outcome.... something lacking with other curly girls channels 🥰. I need ur own products, for sure!!!!!
I have wavy hair (2b-2c) and have a really hard time getting my hair to hold its curl. Do you have any tips? Product recommendations?
Rachael Bakker I have the same hair type and use the not your mother’s curl talk gel. It holds my curls really well and you can use a lot of it and it won’t get flakey or anything.
Try using a product high in protein..I have your hair type but low density and I find if the protein adds a certain springyness to my hair allowing for my wavish curl to hold and keep its shape
I use the Aussie gel or LA gel (with the herbal essance mouse)
Spiralicious jessicurl
Mel !! I live in Florida. I start work in a lab, at 5am the freezer is -37 degrees Fahrenheit ( America ). Lunch at 8am. I have very fine grey (corkscrew curls that don't like to hold). My favorite products I love have poly4 and now i know why!!! Thank You
Who made it to ‘purple freak’?? ;)
As always a great video!!
😍🙌🏻 you’re a champ! Thanks for tuning in AND sticking around ❤️❤️ see you next time xoxoxo
Thank you! I learn so much from your videos. You do an excellent job explaining everything in an easy to understand way.
I'm so confused, I've always seen/read/been told that silicones are terrible for curly hair and should always be avoided, but Mell is using/recommending them? This makes me think they aren't as bad as I've been led to believe?
Your curls are poppin! Thx so much for this information!
Having wavy hair is so frustrating!! Wish I had a defined curl pattern
Curlies wish they had wavy hair
Can you do a video on how to style and take care of short curly hair?
When you just bought new hair products and this video comes out a few hours later ...:') rip my wallet 😆
hahaha dont be discouraged, all the rules still apply! PSF and HHEO!
@Brijanet Figueroa Ooh, I've always wanted to try their products! Let me know how it goes for ya :) Hope you enjoy them!!☺️
Your curls look so good in this!!!
they really were ballin on a budget
Spring into summer spirals... all I could think of was quarantine does have me spiraling 🙁
You make me laugh so much. Very enjoyable viewing and my new favourite curly youtuber. Thank you for mentioning about wavies- I don’t have curly hair , mine is everything between 2a and 3a, but I still think your info is helpful to me. Anything you can mention in future videos for wavies too would be fab. 👏👩🦱
Do you have any input on water quality and how it affects hair product choices?
I live in Ontario and the hard water here makes my hair feel a little more coarse, makes my curl come out and stay in my hair longer.
When I go back home to Vancouver each summer, the soft water makes my hair feel really soft, and I have almost no curl, and products behave differently. It can be frustrating trying to predict what types of products to use with the soft water, because I have been in Ontario for 18 years and have become so accustomed to the methods I use now on a daily basis.
My hair is naturally normal/fine, Med thickness, wavy.
Your Input on water quality and product choices would be appreciated.
Nisiepie N. Man! Good question! I have hard water also and looking forward to answer
Omg, hard water is tough. I use apple cider vinegar rinse to get the mineral build up out.
Thanks. I live in Florida where the dew points always around 70 or higher.
What if the gel I use also has glycerin as one of the main ingredients? Should I just coat my hair with an oil?
1. Light purple looks so good on you and 2. I appreciate the easy to understand way you present information!
How can I get back into using silicones?? I feel like my hair has never looked more dull 3 years into the no-cones journey. I can’t find any products with soluble silicones in :(
ah isnt that ironic! Sorry to hear about your hair woes! make sure you have a good cleansing shampoo (one with sulphates will do great) and dont be afraid of having them in the ingredients! Try shopping for products that claim to help your hair goal, so to achieve shine, de-frizz, conditioning etc and you will find it! I have shared so many on this channel, one of my favourites like Verb curl cream is a great one!
IIRC, if the silicone has PEG in the name, it is water soluble. Lots of my products have them. Pleas, though, correct me if I’m wrong.
How HOW does anybody dislike your videos!! You have helped me so much with my curls @manesbymell!!! Love from Oregon!!!💜
