Was this the match of the 2018 US Open? Comment ⬇️!
Yes it was... By far..!
@Aquawelll Just you wait! More and more videos coming all year long
This could be The Greatest US Open match of all time
@Aquawelll Coming soon!
@@LazyDoc333 Wow! High praise
Nadal has played so many incredible matches in tennis history... So many

muskula nikhil yeah cause Wimbledon is slow...
rafael nadal is one of the top 5 players on hard court and grass court of all time I believe
Because he is the greatest
Man i could watch thiem nadal battles all day long. Probably the most intense matchup in tennis history.
Who’s here after Thiem claimed his first major in US Open?
Me
Thiem would have beat Djokovic if he faced him tbh but it would have been a great match to watch with Djokovic sliding
@@premmohite9358 if if if doesnt exist! But yeah true...
Not me.
GOATKOVIC
their hug at the end of the match tells it all!!
Yes, it's a beautiful one !
@Paul Xu Nah. Kyrgios is wrong though. With Thiem it's different. Nadal has so much praise for him and they are great friends. There are only 2 players Nadal would hug after being defeated (Thiem and Schwartzman)
@Paul Xu Didnt nadal hug djokovic after AO 2012?Hmmm
TheFlash3237 and Del Potro, and what about the 2008 AO when Nada put his arms around Federer, when he was crying?
@Paul Xu AS i thought you aint replying stupid troll.
At 32 you are not supposed to win battles of physical attrition against someone 8 years younger but this guy just refuses to loose unbelievable
Murthy Krishnan , he retired in the next match against Del Potro . Obviously this match took a toll on him.
@@gbolabodba It was definitely a physical battle of the highest magnitude, but both these guys are amazing
There is someone 5 years older still winning slams
@@thomasbrunkle8389 Yeah when he doesn't face any of the big 4 he does win slams!
V Yeah totally forgot that one lol
It’s really unfortunate what’s going on with Thiem nowadays. I hope he returns to this level. First set was practically perfect 🤩
How do you come back from a 6-0 blowout against a player who pretty much played out of his mind?
The heart of Nadal is incredible.
Well not only Nadal has an amazing mind set but Thiem could not keep it up and crashed as well. He did not play too well after that. More than Nadal upping his game, Thiem lowered big time.
Same thing this past RG. Gets 2nd set and then completely dissapears.
@@federicorusso4378 right! becuz NadaLOR...
@@federicorusso4378 Were the other 11 times he won RG also not because of him?
@@federicorusso4378 No he didn't crash. Maybe he could have won set 3 but you are forgetting or conviniently ignorant about how well Nadal played the big points. In fact Nadal had chances to win the 4th but didn't capitalize. Sorry, this was one of the best matches I have ever seen on a hard court. Period.
Shows nadal’s true character. It’s fight or flight. Clearly he fights.
Best battle of tennis
Best come back after a bagel :)
Best intensity on court
Best FairPlay and mutual respect from both players in the end
Conclusion: Pure class. Direct access to tennis encyclopedia
One of the best matchs of all time
Gotta love Rafa. He is the most badass athlete without the tattoos, piercings and trash talks. His muscle and raw talent speaks for itself.
Ronaldo 🤔
Sports has nothing to do with those things. Except maybe trash talk
There is no trash talk. Tennis isnt the nba or nfl.
@@lukash9193 tell that to Nick kyrgios
tattoos and piercings don’t make a difference
thiem is the only player that i like from the newgen. he is my second favourite after nadal.
Yes, mine too, after Rafa.
He's not new gen. 26 year old you are supposed ti not be teenager anyomore
@@matteo964 he is 25 and i agree that he is my favourite player, after Rafa.

Among the young rising stars, Thiem’s got the most potential
don't forget tsitsipas
When djokovic and nadal are gone the thiem tsitsipas era can beginn
@@lukash.4690 it seems to be getting late for Thiem he's 27 already and by his age Federer, Nadal and Djokovic were already multiple Gram Slams winners. However, I don't doubt Thiem eventually will win a Major tournaments soon
@@josequintero8615 tell me 10 guys with multiple grand slam titles when they were 27 in this sick era! You just cant compare anybody to djokovic nadal or federer.
José Quintero He already has.
The most entertaining player of the year was obviously Nadal. He played epic matches against Delpo, Novak, Karen and Donimic.
And against Schwartzmann!
Very hard draw
So unlucky to win only one slam that. Fully fit nadal would have won one more slam that year!
@@patricksweeney5308 Yeah I think so as well. Are you referring to the semifinals?
@@patricksweeney5308 I wouldn't say conspired, he was very unlucky, because of the stupid Isner vs Anderson match his match with Djokovic had to be interrupted and with teh rain they had to play it indoors which really is a huge advantage for Djokovic, only a point here and there and Nadal would have won that match in four sets it was that close, maybe the closest grand slam match of all time.
Match of the year!
Nadal-Del Potro at Wimbledon is a great match to
Stefano Gabrielli Nadal djoko too
Everybody nadal match is awesome vs big oppenets
Now Dominic is the US open champ, that's what consistency is,
US open 2020 champ, congratulations Thiem.
This has to be one of the best matches ever. The intensity...😱 shot making...🙆♂️
Thiem played one of his best matches in his career, yeah but.. Nadal... is a beast.
Joshua Nreblöw Nadal honestly could of easily of lost this, this was a coin flip
His best hard court performance, he usually is far better on clay, but it doesn't really matter how good you are on clay against Nadal on the French Open you simply lose, Thiem lost the last 3 times in a row to the beast.
This is why I love tennis. Absolutely gripping.
Yeah.... Not only by hands..... Most of the times with legs too....
A match for the ages. Thiem should've taken this one down the stretch but the great Nadal just doesn't give in. Great match!!
Heart break for Thiem at Us open 2018
Heart break for Thiem at French Open 2018 and 2019
Heart break for Thiem at Aus open 2020
Now he is a Grand Slam champion
Don't forget he lost two times in a row in the atp finals...
Even the audiences still not believe they just witnessed one hell of a match!!!
Nadal means every point is earned by every earnest effort. A true matador of tennis.
Nadal it's the definition of hard work, not talent.
@@DeNiS-xd7nq wrong on all counts. He can hit shots no one else can.
@@DeNiS-xd7nq Maybe not as talented as say Fed game wise.. but to say he has no talent lmao... You don't win 12 RG with just hard work. Ferrer is the example of hard work but unfortunately no talent.

One year later, Nadal gave us his greatest performance on this court & won the whole thing. Such a great legend and titan of this sport. Never felt so proud to be a die hard fan of yours Champ. ❤️❤️
debatable i think his us open wins against djokovic were super impressive
@@spencerrosant5794 As a whole tournament I think 2019 and 2010 were his best years at the USO.
Their games are so similar-- like they are playing themselves -- and wow, it's fabulous tennis. Bravo!
Closest thing to Nadal vs Nadal you'll ever gonna get, if only Thiem had a two handed backhand.
Wow...the mutual respect between the two at the end. Remarkable sportsmanship. Nadal has spoken highly of them not just for his tennis but his character. 👏
Thiems backhand is a mini nuke. It's different from Wawrinka Because he can generate so much pace. Incredible weapon.
that hug was gay
@@guineapig55555 How is their sexuality relevant? This is a tennis match not a bar. You are looking in the wrong place.
The most emotional match for me.

Thiem is the best player! Incredible! Every hits and shots amazing thats why hes my idol
One of the Greatest US Open Matches of All Time.
One of the best matches in tennis history.
Thiem won usopen.
I want more Thiem vs Nadal on hard courts.
Thiem energy + unusual shots near the nets.....
Awaiting French open 2019 finals between this duo.
Nadal reigns the clay court, but Thiem may do some magic in the match.......
Man, honestly I heard this player Thiem just during this Roland Garros 2019. Quite weird I didn't heard it before, since I watch tennis quite a bit and I know the main top male players. When Thiem won against Djokovic I thought that it was Djokovic's "fault", since I underestimated Thiem. Now that I'm aware of his skills, I'm excited for Nadal vs Thiem 🔥
@@tomswiss7128 he's been on the rise for couple of years now. This clay court season he beat Roger, novak and even Nadal. They call him prince of clay but alas Rafa is too strong.
Dude this guy has made it to the semi finals of Roland Garros or better in the last four years in a row, he lost To Nadal in the last three years 2 of which have been in the finals, he thrashed Djokovic just a couple of years ago in Roland Garros and defeated him this year in a 5 set match, he is basically the second best player on clay right now after Nadal. How the hell do you not know who he is?
@@gherbihicham8506 I started informing seriously about tennis matches just two months ago; prior to that, I just knew random stuff and Thiem was not part of it
unbelievable Thiem!!! fantastic highlights...
This is the best match of the last 5+ years

Who is here Before the 2020 US Open finals. Hopefully Thiem will have his time today to lift his maiden grand slam
But your comment is after the match I guess
PhenomeNADAL!!
If I had to bet money on someone coming back from a bagel. It would be this man Nadal. What mind the man has.
If not the greatest tennis match ever......
What a epic match... i thought thiem had nadal at the end but he missed that one, can happen but it's so sad he was defenitely just as good as nadal was.
Thiem his best game ever. Unfortunately he was playing against the phenomenon Rafa who never ever give up ❤️
Another classic match!! ANYONE else agree??
Thiem was so unbelievable strong at these days. Only player who has a nearly 50% win rate head 2 head against the big 3. - Hope he can manage a comeback with now only 29 years. I hope he finds the way back. This match was one of the greatest i have ever witnessed.
One of the best matches of 2018
the best matches from eternity!Nadal GOAT
One of the most intense and physical matches in history (with AO 2012 final) !
Nadal vs verdasco ao 2009 trumps both of them
the best match of 2018! if you wanna see the real highlight watch the match!
One of my favourite matches ever
Poor Theim was gutted. But this match cost Rafa four months off Circuit.
What Thiem needs to do to win a Grand Slam is to start winning smaller tournaments to get to the top 2 ranking, in that way he can have a chance to face 1 instead of 2 of the big 3 players in his draw ... history shows that he has the ability to beat 1 of them but not 2 in consecutive matches ...
Invented Caesar I wouldn’t exactly say this match because overall his season was exhausting. He went deep in pretty much every GS before USO and then on USO as well.
@@88feji federer ranks top 3 in wimbledon 2019, but still, even the great legend himself cannot beat both nadal and djokovic at the same tournament..sometimes, what u need is 10% of luck
@@muhammadhasif737 And both Rafa and Nole played badly.
Rafa wasnt aggressive at all and was actually losing long rallies, was scared to put forehand down the line.
Nole was doing insane amount of error and nothing was working but his legs and brain.
@@88feji history shows that he has the ability to win against Djokovic in a grand slam but not Nadal, what he needs to do is avoid playing Nadal to win a grand slam.
Truly, Thiem hs improved by land slides. T future stars of tennis. But it remains to be seen if he has the level of consistency of tenacity and ferociouness n hunger for a long period of time. To be a champ, one needs all these in one solid n tight pack.
Well said
What a match!!
Truly incredible performance from both
This is one of the most intense matchups I've seen. Powerful hitting with long rallies. Crowd is shouting at almost every point
Nice long highlights! That’s what I like to see! And what a incredible match! Who else loves a fifth set tie-breaker? These highlights are way better than, maybe Wimbledon, And french Open, all though french Open are better than they were!
Thanks! Happy to provide more and more highlights from our archives!
@@usopen can you please upload the whole match? Just like Wimbledon uploads full length epic matches
I honestly tell after rafa retires I would love to cheer for thiem.... He is such a warrior... Btw I am here after theirs epic blockbuster counter in ATP finals😉
This highlight reel left out the 5-5 point in the 5th set breaker. That was one of the best points one will ever see at such a critical moment. Rafa could have easily lost that point, such was thiems defense. The 5th set was a highlight reel the level of play and shotmaking was beyond belief.
Holy heck that last set was insane
what to say?? epic match between two best players, nadal mentally very strong while thiem still much younger playing very well here
Nadal has a strength of willpower that defies almost everything on a tennis court
Who's here after Nadal beat Thiem in the french open 2019 final?
Personally, I'd like to see at least half hour of highlights (especially for an epic like this) so you get a 'feel' for the match and not just a sequence of best shots.
Agreed.
YES! And the full final few games, especially the final tiebreak! I'd sit through 10 minute commercials for it! *Nudge nudge, @US Open Tennis Championships
That would never happen unless they make the lazy 'Extended Highlights' like Wimbledon have been doing where they skip large chunks of the match.
This highlight was good but they didn't include the 6-5 game in set 3 which had a mini reel of highlights nor the point at 5 all in the 5th set tie breaker. Nadal could have easily lost that point. Imo, that was the point of the match.
Why not just watch the full match. Rather than get the feel of the match. You get the full experience. Watching it live will be the best experience since you can cheer for a winner. Highlights just tells a story that already finished
This was THE MATCH
Damn, thiem nadal wars are always sooo freaking intense. What a fight
Incredible match, one of the best in the last years.. I believe that today Dominic will lift the trophy 🏆.. He totally deserves it!
This match along with Khachanov match messed up his knees last year. He should avoid the same fate by being aggressive and serving flat. This year also he is poised to face both Thiem and Khachanov.
Thiem is out of 2019 US Open already.
This is my favoruite match and will always be
Let's do this! Roland Garros Finale!!!
Lol, I'm here too after the epic match with Djokovic 😂😂🤣
This guy is a beast.
who's here after thiem-federer IW Finals??? ✋✋✋
#metoo
you got me
👏👍
old grand pa lost
Rafa ankour vamaus Rolan Garos
I like how all sets apart from the first were very competitive and not 6/2 or even 6/3 (though the 1st wasnt a simple set for Thiem either); but all went to 6/4 or 7 games and then two tiebreaks.
Rafa always gracious when he wins.
Most brutal and scariest level of tennis that I've ever seen... Though Rafa won, he got drained completely by Thiem..
Dominic Thiem is going to be another opponent whom Rafa will be struggling to beat in future... The tour is getting tougher for Rafa in pursuit of Fed's tally of Majors...
Classy move in the congratulations beyond the net. Love it!
Great format ! Thank you.
Arise sir Rafael....
This is one of my favourite matches!!
It takes so much just to win a point against one of the big 3 let alone win 2 sets great play from Thiem. He has the potential to be in the conversation with the greats if he wants it bad enough.
Este partido se puede ver mil veces
Admit or not Nadal's 2018 could have easilyy been a 2010 one. Sadly he has had to face such a bad luck with injuries and all that stuff. He could have had all slams.
Being his fan is such a blessing
one of greatest match ever. the both are great players
Playing Nadal you should be prepared for war
The Best match ever seen...
Incredible match
And once again it cost him an injury. So many times thru the years Another example of why he’s in the goat discussion. His mind never stops trying to solve the problem across the net. We will Never see anyone like him again. And no man alive can hit through Nadal tho many have tried. My goat for sure.
Rafa body was very damaged in this fight... you can notice in several points he couldnt go 100%.. still managed to win the game
Legend
I remember when Nadal was just a kid with pimples. Now he is hitting mid 30s soon with balding hairline. Sad times when he is gone. I hope he stays strong for another 3 years and 4 more grandslams before he calls it quit.
We miss the incredible Dominic Thiem. An incredible champion.
Nadal has had so many legendary matches at this point that I forgot this one entirely. I literally had no clue how this match was going to end, all I knew was that he didn't win the title that year lol.
WOW. What a match!
Most engaging match of the year after Rafael vs Novak @Wimbledon
And now Thiem just won the US Open
That last full volley still hurts the most. Bad day For Dominic, really bad day.
Finally Dominic Thiem is the US Open Champion in 2020.
This match was the 100% of thiem but unfortunately opponent was nadal who never gives up
The US Open this year (2019) is going to be huge..Will Novak carry on as usual..Can Roger recover from his Wimbledon defeat (I doubt it)..What about Nadal..?
I think Rafa is too limited physically this year, he needs his pace back but I think anyway overall Novak is too good at the moment I don't see who can beat him, maybe Kyrgios who knows lol
I think thiem can take him and nadal is in good form again so I think it will be interesting
Théo Becquet stupid thing to say
Well, we have our answer. This was a huge year for the big 3 to cement their legacies considering their age and boy did they deliver.
Wow, the stakes were incredible come to think of it.
Nadal uno de los jugadores más fuertes mentalmente de la historia del tenis 💪
Love both of them.
