I understand that the ignition switch needs to be placed in position one before connecting the scanning tool After I have placed the e-brake in the maintenance position, do I disconnect the scanning tool and turn off the ignition or do I leave everything powered while doing the rear rotor, pads and sensors replacement and then place the e-brake back in the normal position?
I am not sure what the repair will cost in your area. Call a few shops and ask for a quote. It is also a good idea to have them confirm what the issue is.

Turn key OFF when replacing the brakes.
Aren't you supposed to wind these back?
Yes, it is shown with a scan tool, doing so.
