Man I love michellins road 5s. I had them on my CBR 500r before. Amazing on wet roads. I was pushing it in the rain too

Just added the Road 6 to my Z900. Great tires.

Excellent choice! I put on Road 6s a couple of months ago and they were like getting a new bike. Looking forward to your first vid with them.

Great tyres. I bought a set of Road 6 for my MT07 and I love them! Plenty of dry grip!

I heard good things about the Michelin Road 5 tires, nice choice. I am going to be changing my rear tire and be avoiding the Dunlop stock Ninja 650 '21 tire as that back tire is too slippery IMO and the tread doesn't last like a stronger tire like other brands I tried in the past. Sports touring is a good way to go for longevity for tires without having to worry about passing State Inspections each year when getting close to low tread.
The back tire tends to wear out faster than the front from my experience since 2003. I'm taking it much slower these days to preserve fuel, but also tire treads.
17,000 miles, nice going. I'm only at 8500 so far on this bike. Too many rainy and hot days this summer.
On my first Ninja 250R back in 2003, I wanted to test how far I could go on a tire, and found out once the center tread was gone on the back tire, it's time to change it asap. My back tire popped back then at 50 mph going up a highway hill, but was easy to control since it was the back tire, not the front. Had to take it to the shop for a fast replacement as I had work later that day.
Changing tires is a fun challenge with the right tools (and air compressor pump), but everyone has their own preference to either take it to the shop or do it yourself. Those treads on that back definitely are ready to be changed, agreed.

It's very important that you also change the front tire tire to match whatever new rear model you install. DO NOT MIX THESE UP.

@@stephc4427 Thanks. I understand your concern regarding safety first.
Manufacturers really stress the same brand for front and back, and to their benefit with more sales, but also because they only test their own brand tires on bikes and cannot account for other brands, so they don't recommend it ever. Plus factoring in the different tire purposes. Some are solely for sticky track riding with super high grip and fast heating, while others are more oriented for the roads, rain and long touring or just basic riding. Mix those up and it could affect handling, stopping, leaning, etc.
With that in mind, I've been riding motorcycles yearly for 21+ years, and most times have the same tire brands front and back, but sometimes had to settle for two different tire brands on the bike due to unexpected situations like a nail in one/front tire lasts twice as long/out of stock, etc.
And thankfully had zero issues with different brands on the front and back for the full life of the mixed brands of tires on the roads. That includes leaning, steering, handling, stopping, etc. I did keep them both focused on a similar road purpose designs, to keep their grips similar. I never track ride, so never buy track tires, which are much stickier and wear out faster.
But I can see why many riders would be concerned about keeping them both matching brands even though the altered brand tires had similar street purposes.
