    Great choice. I have a '21 Ninja 650 and love it, having upgraded from 20 years of Ninja 250Rs, which were a lot fun most times. This bike can handle a lot more situations, especially going up hills and able to accelerate without any problem, unlike the 250Rs. 0 to 60 on the Ninja 650R is 3.5 seconds average, which is fast. Top speed 131 mph. Kawsaki's are very reliable for me, over 72,000 miles on them combined. Great style to this bike too. Enjoy!

      A very honest and bang on review. I used to have Ninja 636’s when I was younger and I couldn’t think of anything worse than riding / commuting on one against the Ninja 650 is a compromise for me. It gets me out, it has some balls if you need it and more importantly is comfortable to ride in my 53rd year. It’s perfect for what I want a bike for. Looks good too 😍

    I don't think anyone needs to explain their reason for getting a 650 to be honest. Its really juat a solid street capable bike that any sport rider would want in their garage. They're comfortable, torquey enough to have fun with but not out of control on power, and they're light. Its pretty much the class of bike that you can rest at forever unless you need somrthing for a very specific reason, like a heavier high cc touring bike for more long highway trips or a true supersport for actual track riding. Hope your still enjoying it.

    I'm glad you brought up insurance cost. A lot of people don't think about it. I currently have a 2009 concours 14. I do enjoy the bike, but some days the weight of it gets to me. Also, its very hard NOT to do 100mph on that bike. I wouldn't say it is to fast, but the temptation is always there to speed. If something happened to it, I would probably pick up a Ninja 650. All I do is commute, so it would be perfect for me.

    • @BlackArroToons

      @CactusJack252 Yes, the Ninja 650 is very flickable too, and really comfortable and lightweight feeling too, at 419 pounds full fuel for the non-abs bike, 423+ fueled abs version. A lot of fun, and you can tap into all its power. As far as fuel range, your Kawasaki Concours 14 rules with a larger tank, but I get 201 miles literally from a full 4.0 gallon fuel tank with my '21 Ninja 650 with about .2 gallons to spare.

    • @ewganhoff
      @ewganhoff 6 месяцев назад

      That 400 might be a tiny bit faster right at the top of the revs, but believe me, it will be absolutely gutless in the midrange where our 650s shine so brightly. I've owned a ninja 600 and a cb650, and the ninja 650 is by far my favourite motor of the 3. Above 100mph the other 2 will get away from the 650r, and I do go over 100 regularly, but I'll take that trade off all day long for the midrange torque of the 650r.
      All that high rev power is fun if you're riding at the track, or using the road like it's a track, but the midrange on those bikes was garbage - if you tried to exit a corner with less than 8k on the rev counter you just felt like you were waiting for the power. I imagine the 400 would be completely infuriating.

    Great video by the way! I was going to buy a 2017 Ninja 650... But I wanted something a little older and less money, because this is my first motorcycle... I grew up riding 80cc, 125cc, 250cc and I finally had a Kawasaki KX500 cc dirtbike. It was a major help with transitioning to a street bike. I took the MSF course, got my mc license and hopped on my bike and have been riding trouble free ever since... I went with a rare in the US, and mint condition, 2008 Suzuki GSX650F. I paid under $3,500 for it with 28k miles from a Suzuki dealership. It had one 60 year old previous owner who serviced the bike at that dealer, and it included all the service records and two keys. It's bone stock, and just had a full service, along with new tires on it before I bought it. It's so freaking nice, that I got full coverage insurance on the bike. It's quick, but it's no 10 second bike. It does 0-60 in the mid 3's, but pulls amazing for a 650 up top to 12,500 rpm and ran 11.9 @ 110 and change in the 1/4 mile. It has an 85 HP / 45 LB-FT, 656cc Inline-4, but it's heavy at 531 pounds wet. I have no problem with the weight at 5'10" 195 pounds though. Sorry for the long comment... I'll subscribe after this comment. Safe travels man!

    I hope you still like it. I went down the same choices as you but ended up in a different place. I really wanted the Honda CBR650R for the sport look and sound but with a more comfortable riding position. I was doing my shopping in February/March of 2024 so I couldn't find any of the Hondas. I decided to open my search to include the Ninja 650, GSX8R, and eventually the MT-07. I never considered a naked bike because I didn't think I liked the look but I was riding a Chinese Honda Grom Clone at the time which is essentially a naked bike. I sat on all of them and liked the Ninja 650 and MT07 the most for riding position. I then decided to sit on the MT-09 and the tank seemed huge and I was barely able to reach the ground at 5' 7" and 250lbs. Yes, I'm a fat bastard. Ultimately what made my decision was the price. I had watched the videos about how amazing the sound and performance was from the MT-09 and the only thing holding me back was my height. I decided to take the plunge since they dropped the price to make room for the 2024s. I got the MT-09 SP for $9980.00 which was way too good to pass up. Thank god for the riding modes because it has way more power and torque than I'll ever need. It's not the prettiest bike or the easiest one to get on but I can't stop smiling when I ride it.

    I’m not sure about the differences of insurance rates from state to state and /or your particular area-but a quote of $500 per month as you seem to suggest in your video seems bizarre. I was quoted $37.00 per month from my local State Farm agent for a Kawasaki Z900rs Cafe. Your figures make me think there’s something amiss with such figures for a 650. I could see somewhat higher rates for a CBR600RR-but not for the CBR650r because they are two different animals entirely.
    When you were quoted-did you supply the agent with a VIN to ensure they quoted you accurately?
    I can see the Kawasaki Ninja 650 being cheaper possibly-but the rates for a CBR650r are less for me than the aforementioned Z900rs.

    • @cloudybiker
      @cloudybiker  9 месяцев назад

      It's because it's a sports bike. Also NYC insurance cost is very high. Theft is very likely in NYC. It sucks man. Also I switched to a z900 because insurance was cheaper because the z900 isn't a "sports bike"

    • @bellerophon9116
      @bellerophon9116 9 месяцев назад

      @@cloudybiker State Farm’s actuaries don’t seem to agree with you about the classification. Kawasaki uses the same platform for their supernaked z900. The rate quote for me for a CBR650R was cheaper $10 per month than the Z900rs Cafe when last I inquired about it. Although Z900rs is slightly detuned from its supernaked brother, it's certainly faster than the CBR650R and more expensive to fix than the CBR650R. These were among the reasons given to me over the phone from my local agent as to the increase in rates.
      I have a friend who rides a 2023 Suzuki Hyabusa and pays $550 in premiums for the year which is still lower than your apparently quoted rate of $500 per month for a CBR650R you mentioned. Of course, you live in a different area, but that still seems odd wherever the area.
      Overall, the Ninja 650 is about $1,000 cheaper than the CBR650R. It's also more economical in terms of servicing and fuel economy. On those points if someone is attempting to save money it makes sense. I did however find the seating position to be a little more aggressive than the CBR650R🤷‍♂️
