I am 71 years old and my wife and I have traveled over 350,000 miles by motorcycle. I had cruiser bikes because I have a short inseam, but the Ninja 650 fits me well. I currently have a 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator SE and love it, but if I ever get back to touring I'm thinkung of a Ninja 650 because I like the parallel twin engine. When we traveled I always made sure my bikes were confortable not just for me but for my wife also. This is one downfall for the Ninja 650, the passenger seat and passenger foot pegs. There is no way my wife could ride on that high of a seating postition for any time at all, If Kawasaki were to make a real touring model they would allow for the passenger's confort by lowering the passenger seat and foot pegs to ake the passenger confortable for a long ride.
Didn’t know we were getting a face reveal vid. Maybe we’ll do that someday. Love the review. Hope to see more someday. I’d love to see a comparison of the z650 and the ninja 650.
lol. I didn’t know either. Still playing around with how to film these videos. Doing a new one tomorrow. That’s a good idea for a video. I would love to have the 400, 500 and 650 lined up to do a massive comparison.
@ My wife traded in her cbr and we just posted a final review of it. New bike reveal coming soon!
@ that’s what’s up. Looking forward to watching it. Also looking forward to the new bike. 👀👀👀. She got that ZX10RR huh lol.
@ 😂 Not a 10r, but she wants me to get one. I’m still rocking the 650.
@ the 650 is a great bike. I want a second bike (shooting for spring) but I’m definitely not giving up the 650. That good of a bike for me.
Give me a late 90’s bike any time over these new pieces of underpowered garbage…..
Wow, everyone is entitled to their opinion but this is kinda harsh. Enjoy your old bike. We like our new underpowered pieces of garbage. 😉 Have a blessed day!
Good review, if i didnt already have one I would definetely buy one after thid vid 🔥🥷
Just an info: The Ninja 650 in Europe (at least Germany) has ABS standard and 68 HP not 67 HP But US has better colours available 🥲🥲🥲
I appreciate the comment dude. Been enjoying your stuff as well. Always good to see you upload
@@KahoGeorg Same in australia
The ninja 650 needs a refresh and a lot more power to compete with the 8R.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it get a new makeover sooner then later. Seems like they are pushing out the smaller cc like what they did to the 400 for the 500. They still make the 400 but it’s not available everywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a 700cc or maybe an 800. Maybe split it and make a 750. See what happens I guess
I have looked into modding the Ninja 650. From what I have gathered (read as: "read on several online forums"), it's not worth it. The ECU flash is only gonna give you a very little power boost and a full exhaust system is hella expensive and won't exactly make you go mach fuck. But if you find doing it worth the trouble, go for it
I been seeing stuff like that too. And that it could be damaging to the engine. I would get this bike at tour friendly as I could way before I would do that.
I like the vid bro. It's awesome seeing you there with the bike giving the specs. Cool change of pace.
Thank you sir. Definitely wanna make this kind of stuff work. I really enjoy it too. This one was easy but man do I got a lot of studying to do for the next one lol.
Nice review City Ninja! Glad you're still enjoying the Ninja 650 with 20,000 miles + on there. Nice going! For the roads, it does well for those not looking for the ultimate race bike for competition. As a sportbike twin cylinder, a lot of fun to ride and great on fuel beyond what I was expecting with a range of 233 miles on 4.0 gallons, averaging 60 mpg. The TFT display is a huge help for checking MPG, the clock and even an idea of the fuel. The trip meter is still my favorite feature, 000 when filled up, to about 225 miles range with a gentle acceleration. What are your thoughts on the Suzuki 8R? I saw it in person and it looks nice, though I think with that extra power, gulps more fuel faster than this 650. Thanks.
Thank you. I’m not to sure about that bike. I really hope I can review it. I should actually put that on my radar. I been interested in it for a while now
@@CityNinja650 The 8R's price puts it in a more expensive price point along with the more potent engine, but I bet it's a fun bike too. I prefer the design of this Ninja 650 model, which has been going since 2020 through 2025 so far. If it's not broken, don't fix it as they say. Plus keeping in mind, there will always be a faster bike, so that shouldn't stop the rider from making the most of the bike they have to enjoy. If it's reliable, fun and does most of what the rider wants, that's great, and that's what the '21 Ninja 650 does for me while riding. Was able to get a winter ride in today. Saw about 6 other bikers during the ride, which was cool. I wore heavy layers and stayed warm for a couple fun hours. Stay safe during the winter! The gravel, rock salt and slippery ice are unfortunately merciless as you know to motorcycles. You have experience with winter, so you know what you're doing on those slippery conditions.
My friendsitoooo
Looks beautiful bro! I wish we had trees like that in Florida for the fall but it gives us something to look forward to when we travel.
Nice video, thank you. Although I love my Ninja 1000, I just turned 60 and the weight (518lbs) is becoming an issue. I’m looking at the 650 due to being much lighter but still powerful. Your videos are definitely steering me in this direction!
Nice I was wondering the same
This aged so well
I wish I could've kept my 650 for this many miles... people in florida hate your guts though if you dare to ride on two wheels
Love the landscape where you are riding, so much space and all the houses with such big gardens, that type of houses and neighbourhood are nowhere to be found in Germany 🫠
Hey man! I've been loving your videos and am looking into getting a 650 as my first bike. I've read multiple times that you haven't had any problems not having ABS. Is that still true? I'm pretty dead set on getting one with ABS but I only have 1 dealer near me and he doesn't have any 650's with ABS. Thanks! And keep up the great videos.
@@NotEImo I honestly haven’t had any issues without abs. That’s not to say tho that I haven’t been in situations. Onetime I was riding and had to use my front breaks real aggressively and my front tire did slide for a second. The key is to practice and understand what that feels like and what to do. (Release break pressure and re apply). My rear tire will lock and slide but that’s when I do it on purpose lol. Idk kinda fun. That’s my personal experience with it. Abs is a great tool and honestly not sure why it’s not standard. I wanted this specific 650 no matter what and was concerned it didn’t have ABS. It all worked out good for me and I really don’t have any issues. The key is to practice and learn how to emergency break correctly. Thank you for the comment. Definitely do what you feel is the best for you. For me personally not having ABS even as a brand new rider wasn’t a make or break for me.
@@CityNinja650 I see, thank you so much for taking your time to reply! Love the vids.
@@CityNinja650doesn‘t the stock Ninja 650 in the US not have ABS? In EU i believe ABS comes in all stock models of the 650
Sexual Assault? Diddy did it
You need to shift into higher gears that bike isn’t meant to be cruising at 5k rpm 😂
Gotta come see the northeast looks beautiful
where is this place you are riding looks very nice
Nice Fall roads there. 20k miles, nice going. You're going to be a MSF instructor? That's cool. Enjoy! Have you tried to see how many miles your fuel range will take your Ninja 650? 225 is my average now from 000 on the trip meter, but that's just taking it easy with the throttle most times, averaging 60 mpg on the indicator.
Thank you. Yes I wanna go for my MSF instructor. Motorcycles have become a big part of my life and I would love to teach it. I never did a full tank to empty but that’s actually a pretty interesting video idea. I know I seem to average about 220 miles on a tank. All depends tho on the road. Seems I get less on interstates. Maybe because the engine is at a highr rpm constantly. Not to sure
@@CityNinja650 Cool. I bet you'll do well as an instructor when the time rolls around. Best of luck with it in your spare time. Yes, the interstates average 65 mph speed limits, so the pace is much faster on there, but on flat level ground, or downhills, you can still get 60 mpg sometimes on this bike. I have seen that 4 cylinder sportbikes are less fuel economic, and drink fuel faster than the 2 cylinder Ninja 650, which explains why the Ninja 6R has a 4.5 gallon fuel tank compared to the 650's 4.0. When I hit 233 miles, refilling required 3.97 gallons of fuel, so it was probably almost dry when I pulled into the fuel station. 220 to 225 is a comfortable, safer bet for the fuel range, but it's awesome to know when gentle on the throttle, you can go that far when on the fun backroads finding new routes in unknown routes.
Loving the scenery dude glad to see you back making some content! Little off topic, but i saw you're from PA I'm looking at area's to move there, i have 4 kids in my 30's i would really love it for you to give me a recommendation on what city would you recommend best for raising a family, i really love it there where you're riding looks beautiful, and peaceful would really love your input, thanks! I was looking at State College, and pocono area, Would be nice to bump into you one day.
Not Ninja, but I'm from PA as well. Poconos are good I think. Up in the mountains area near Farmington is nice if you like the foliage and history, a lot of Revolutionary War stuff to see. If I had the opportunity to move though in PA, Carlisle would be my choice. It's close to Amish country, Hershey, and Gettysburg. I feel it's a little hidden treasure town.
I been out by state college a few times. That really is a great looking area. Seems really clean and have a great atmosphere. My area is in Westmorland county. I absolutely love it here. I’m tucked away from everything but then only 6 minutes away from literally everything. Lots of work from what I can see and I know they have good schools in the area.

Thanks for sharing another video with us. I'm going to keep watching your channel after I get my bike!
I really appreciate that. You are going to have a blast whichever bike you choose. I can easily say it’s one of my best decisions yet lol
Don’t worry about what anybody thinks you go to work you make good decisions you got a nice bike and a nice life don’t let anyone tell you otherwise
Preach!!
most level-headed biker in the whole youtube lol. Kudos for thinking hard about the value of things and being conservative, sweet bike too, I'm really considering it as my starter :)
I appreciate that. Definitely try to be myself and nothing more. This was my first bike. (Not sure if I said that or not in this video) it has been such a pleasure. Every mile. I’m about to hit 20k miles. Wasn’t sure if I was going to do a video but everyone in the poll said to do it. So I guess ima do it.
Bought a 2024 Ninja 650 as my first "big" bike coming off 8 years on a Honda PCX150. I use it to commute to work here in SoCal 2x/week on the 91 and 5 freeways 15 miles each way and it just cruises effortlessly. Very comfortable with a mostly upright seating position. Trying to figure out a way to raise the bars about 1 inch, but no easy way to do (the Z650 triple/clamp/bars will bolt right on) but it is not a deal breaker. Moved the mirrors to the handlebars (with a set of Z650 mirrors and bar clamps i got on eBay for $20!) to achieve a slimmer profile since I lane-split a majority of the way. Currently wasting money replacing the plastics with real carbon-fiber composites pieces from MotoComposites as i can afford, looks beyond awesome!) Got the 1 year only flat green color scheme which looks unique and fairly uncommon. I have zero complaints, and it has run flawlessly.. No need to buy an exhaust, since this engine will not sound better nor experience much performance gains. I personally like the tucked-in under chassis exhaust, makes rear look super clean. I was dead set on upgrading to a Honda from my PCX, but could not find a faired bike with mostly upright seating. The choice of only black or flat black on a majority of US Honda bikes was also a no-go. (check the color choices from European Honda dealers). No Hornet 750 which i would have purchased in the white/red scheme sight unseen, but it is not available in the US and if it was it probably would only be offered in flat black). I love my Ninja 650! If it got stolen or wrecked I would buy another one ASAP. No plans on "upgrading" anytime soon. Can't recommend this bike enough (especially for a beginner) since you will not outgrow it like the Ninja 400/500, CB500F, MT-03, etc.
It is the best motorcycle just say it
Do you think you'll ever upgrade?
I definitely want to get a second bike. I honestly don’t think I would ever trade my 650 in for another bike tho. The 650 is too good of a bike in many aspects. A big one if I’m being honest is finances. Insurance on this bike is super cheap as well as the payment. Getting anything bigger is going to drive that cost up and I really can’t afford it right now (or rather really don’t want to put myself in that position again). There are several bikes I’m looking at now. I really want to get a Vulcan 1700 bagger. I’m working on getting one without financing it. It wasn’t a mistake financing the 650 but I really don’t wanna do it again. I also have been looking at the Kawasaki Verseys. Really I would want the 1000cc to get that bigger engine but honestly the 650 class would still be good for me. But to answer your question I definitely want an upgrade but I want to keep my 650. Again, it’s just to good of a bike for me. 20k miles and only regular maintenance. It’s that solid and reliable.
Don't hate on my Diablo's brother! 😂
@@adamemay I just hate them Because I can’t afford them lmao. No I would love to run those tires. I bet it’s such a crazy difference.
