I just discovered a cool company that sells really solid looking saddle bags. I may try to get them this year. Basically they mount where the passenger pegs are.
I was planning to get a Ninja 650 once I got my motorcycle license, but I ended up with a Ninja 1000SX, and I absolutely love it. Before buying it, I rode a KTM Duke 390 for a month to get used to city riding, then sold it. Right now, I’m riding in Rain mode to get comfortable with the bike, and it feels really manageable. I don’t usually say it’s dangerous or anything because it really depends on the rider and their skill level. I spent five months at a driving school practicing before I got my big bike license, so I’m pretty confident riding a liter bike. I’m 170 cm tall and weigh around 50 kg. Sure, it’s a heavy bike, but I can handle it. Oh, and I’m in Okinawa, Japan.
Gorgeous and practical bike. Although I love my N1K, I'm definitely going to score a 2023+ N650 in the near future. Great video, appreciate what you do...
Appreciate that. It’s been a lot of fun for the most part. I would love to own a 1000sx. I sat on one and could definitely tell it’s the 650s big brother. Felt really freaking solid. I hope I can ride one sometime. Idk how insurance is. That’s a big factor for me unfortunately.
Yes. Ninja 650 can go 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds if needed, but more practically, and being gentle on acceleration and speed (try to average 65 mpg), can easily go 220+ miles per 4.0 gallon tank with .5 gallons to spare. Awesome bike, flickable, easy to control, easy to maintain, etc.
@@dobelEXP When I first got the Ninja 650, that was my average mpg too. ;) Top speed of 127 mph is what I could reach downhill, but some reported 131 on the track. Now that I have all that achieved, I've been much more easy on the acceleration and can't believe how great this bike is on fuel. When accelerating hard and going for faster speeds, it's a gas drinker, but when gentle on the throttle and acceleration, I was impressed it can reach 221+ miles on the 4.0 gallon tank on 87 octane fuel, with .5 gallons to spare, which could've gotten me to 230 miles before cutting it close. Great bike! Enjoy.
You are 100% correct with that (65mph) when I did this run I did run it fast. That completely kills mpg. I get why because gas mileage on smaller roads then interstates. I don’t speed like this for thrill or anything. Honestly I just wanna see how far I can go and back in a days time.
@@CityNinja650 Hey, no problem. The freeway is always fun (when not a traffic jam). I also have fun on the bike now and then too, and especially when I first got it. Now I'm just going for my own goal of how far I get take this bike on 4.0 gallons when being more gentle with it and know I can hit 230 miles soon for the range. Great for not having to worry about running out of fuel when exploring the backroads!
Sup dude,.. im sure you are more or less being overwhelmed by lots of messages and such, but just wanted to say that i got my 650 2024 a couple of days ago,.. Ebony green with some whatever grey in front. Its a Euro-version, not for sale in the US i guess.. and all your info from the last couple of months helped me to decide to get this as my first bike. Ive said it already a few uploads ago, but now i actually have the machine and am riding it! Currently @ 60 miles now and still breaking it in. ]Anyway, just wondering what phone mount you are using... Lots of people say i should get a Quadlock Pro, but then again, lots say the stem doesnt fit.. What are you using?? I will use my iphone 15 Pro so it should survive the vibrations of the 650,... Thanks again for helping me (and i guess plenty of others) with your opinion and reflections making the choice of getting a 650 :)
I really appreciate that comment. I’m really happy that I was able to help someone out. Always was the main objective. I actually ran into the same issue you did. I was going to get one but then I started seeing where it didn’t fit the 650. Moneys always tight and didn’t wanna risk it. They are kinda expensive. Then you got to get the case too. My phone mount I do not recommend lol. I had my phone fall off on the interstate once. Phone survived which was good. I was like 5 hrs away from home lol. But what I have is just one I got off Amazon. I used it for the first time in months just a few days ago. I don’t listen to music while riding and only need the gps if I’m going on a run. I did wanna do door dash with it but I would need to get the luggage and racks. Congratulations on the bike. It really is a great beginner bike. Everything about it. I just did a long trip and it ran perfectly. Thank you again for the comment. Definitely helps the drive. And enjoy the learning process. You only get to do it once. Ride safe,
@@CityNinja650 thanks for the reply! Yea. Just normal people like me always look for normal people without some corporation backing them, getting sponsorship for telling what companies want them to tell. Just simple facts and it surely helps! The choices between mounts give me headache. I guess I’ll just try the Quadlock right on the stop at the dealership where I buy it. It it sucks ill instantly return it. Stem mount, whether it’s Quad Lock or some other brand, they all have to face the same hole that gets wide, making it hard to get a hold and create a tight fit. I do need a mount asap so I’ll just give it a try. Still breaking in the bike, keeping it as much as possible below 4k rpm , basically avoiding highways but nevertheless enjoying it as it is. The bike and a rocket, it ain’t sound like one either but it sure is fun what it can do. Keep on posting vids :)
I love this bike, got mine in early April. Has enough power to be fun and feels great. I recently did a 1.5 hour trip and only my hand got a little cramp
@@tyray6180 you will definitely get used to it the more you ride it too. I’ll tell you one of the biggest changes for me was getting better gloves. I noticed I feel a lot better with my winter gloves them then the summer ones. Probably because of the vibration dampening with thicker gloves. Congrats on your bike. It’s a good one for sure.
Awesome scenery there with the green hills on that freeway. What fuel do you use for your Ninja 650? I use 87 octane, which can have 10% ethanol. No issues for 2 years now of riding this bike. My Ninja 250R's used that same 87 octane gas too, and each got over 35,000 miles before trading in, so I find that is the cheapest but also efficient fuel to buy.
It’s was such a beautiful ride. I put 93 in mine. Probably more out of habit than anything but that’s usually what I run. I heard it was supposed to be better as far as buildup goes. I’m not sure it that’s 💯 accurate or not tho.
@@CityNinja650 93, okay, cool, thanks. Use the fuel you feel most comfortable with for the bike. 87 has been really good for me overall, and quite a bit cheaper than 89 and higher, saving in the long-term.

@@CityNinja650 yep this is why im gunning for a 1000sx over the 650 abs models where i plan to use is daily commuting with occasional longer stents and having electronic cruise control dialable suspension and all make it worth the extra change
