I saw James Taylor in concert in the old Paramount theatre (aka Felt Forum) in the Madison Square Garden building in the early 90’s and it was awesome. Such a smooth and soulful singer and the band was outstanding.

One of my absolute JT favorites. I saw him in the late 90's in an outdoor arena in KC. When he started Sweet Baby James our whole row was on our feet, arms entwined swaying back and forth, singing along to every word.

Ridden that turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston many times. Also drank the Carolina moonshine. Turns out he and I both live at the border of North Carolina and Massachusetts, like strangely a goodly number of good folks. They are, in some says, North and Southern versions of each other, and I can understand his dual citizenship. Both would like you, and you would probably the same. Just FYI...Stockbridge, up in the Berkshire mountains in the western part of the state, is home to Alice's Restaurant. Tanglewood is also nearby, which was where Leonard Bernstein played his final concert, if my info was correct. Ludwig's 9th. A night to remember, on the grassy estate lawn. James Taylor country. Musical paradise.

First concert I ever saw was James Taylor and I've seen probably 400 concerts. I've seen him probably around 20 times and will see him next on June 29th. This song was written as a lullaby for James' nephew who was named after him.

@blade3184 He wasn't my 1st concert- 1st time I saw him was the summer of '76 (I had just graduated high school) He was so good that I was thinking that he sounded even better in person than on his records. During intermission. when everyone was walking out of the pavilion to get a drink or snack--it seemed like everyone was talking about how beautiful he sounded. I've seen him over 20 times also. . I'll be seeing him in Sept in DC. I've always dreamed of seeing JT at Red Rocks in Colorado-it's such an iconic venue. (I live in Baltimore) I noticed that he stopped playing there for quite awhile. Not too long after I bought tickets for the Sept show-he scheduled a concert at Red Rocks. Maybe next year.

Although he wasn't the first, nor debatably the best, it was this album by James that inaugurated the singer-songwriter genre that dominated popular music for over a decade from the late '60s. I think the secret was his unique, warm baritone voice with clear articulation and phrasing. Thanks for the selection Cynthia and Harri.
