James Taylor is my all time favorite male singer/songwriter. His voice, his lyrics, his guitar playing, his beautiful blue eyes. I had the biggest crush on him. Still do. I’ll always love James Taylor. ♥️
He's my second favorite artist; apart from that, I echo your words. May I repeat them? His voice, his lyrics, his guitar playing, his beautiful blue eyes...😊
I was also in love with him when I was young and still am.
And when he sings "You can close your eyes"... OMG!
@@kmach1000 That version of 'You can close your eyes' with Carly Simon recorded in their home. So beautiful. Sigh.
@@rosmeeker1964 Oh, I love that one! But I still prefer the BBC in concert 11/16/70 version. He was sooooo cute!🔥😆
🙋🏻♀️ So dreamy….the Baby James album cover….oh such a beautiful man with beautiful music 🎵 ❤
I’ve literally been listening to and loving JT for fifty years now. His body of work is amazing, and he has overcome addiction and other personal issues that I’m not sure I could have survived. And he’s still working today. 💖💖💖
Being Native American from North Carolina, I've never identified as southern or as a North Carolinian, however, James Taylor and this song has secretly made me proud to be from the same land as James Taylor. JT's father was the supervisor of the infirmary at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill when my spouse was a student at their medical school. I don't know where you're from SalvoG, but I'm glad to know that you appreciate this song, my friend.
James Taylor is a national treasure.
I was born in 1955 and by the time I was a teenager, all of these great singers were becoming great. I loved James, John Denver, Neil Diamond, Carol King and a host of others.
"I get it"! You're right. James Taylor IS that guy...and you haven't even heard Fire and Rain yet. Lucky you to get to experience so much of his music for the first time.
I heard JT's Greatest Hits Vol.1 on Patreon.
Sweet Baby James. He wrote it for his first nephew when he was born. My all time favorite of his songs.
JT is just so good. Last year I was at his concert in Düsseldorf here in Germany. After the great performance (his voice has aged so amazingly), he sat on stage and signed vinyls, took pictures and just small talked a little with his fans. So unique! Truly inspirational. Would love some more JT song reactions: You Can Close Your Eyes, Your Smiling Face, Thats Why I'm Here, or one of my personal favourites: the underrated "Frozen Man"... all the best from Germany ❤
James Taylor singing …. Up On the Roof.. beautiful!
James is an American, and world, treasure. There will only be one James, sadly.
I saw JT in 94, the first show of his tour that year. ALL ages were there, sometimes 3 generations of one family. He opened with Fire and Rain...the ENTIRE audience sang it, top of our lungs, he stopped singing but continued to play. It was MAGIC and when it was over there was a pause after the applause dies down and he said, very quietly, "Um, can all of you come on the road with me?"
It was a magic evening.
And everyone thought, “Yes! Absolutely! We can come on the road with you!”
Oh boy! You got a lot of his stuff to go through and there ain't a bad'n in the bunch. Enjoy SlavoG! JT is a keeper!
I love almost everything he has done over the many years. One of the very best. Try reacting to songs such as Mexico, Sunny Skies, and Country Roads . You can add another fifty more and still would not have listened to all JT’s great songs. This is quintessential folk rock at the height at folk rock popularity!
One of my favorite songs. James Taylor makes my heart happy and soothes my soul.
Thanks, Sal - I had the great pleasure of going to a couple of JT concerts and as delicious as his recordings are, he is so good live. He’s just a lovely man and so engaged with his fans, encouraging everyone to sing along. It is truly a beautiful thing.
Couldn't agree more his concerts are still some of my best memories.
I got to see him last year with Jackson Browne and it was an amazing concert.
He is also the funniest man in the music biz. That dry sense of humor is priceless.
There are a few artists that soothe your soul to it's core.James Taylor,John Denver,Karen Carpenter,Carole King...
James has the most soothing voice of all - when you listen to him singing you know you're safe! ❤
I grew up listening to James Taylor! His voice is just so soothing. My uncle used to play guitar and sing his songs.
His voice is like a warm blanket.
The music from the '60s - '70s was the very best ever there was so much incredible talent then and I'm sad the newer generations haven't heard it. They are so missing out on the best music ever it just breaks my heart.
JT is one of my all-time favorite artists. Fell in love with music in the seventies and never looked back. Prefer his early music - for your pleasure, listen to Sunny Skies - guaranteed you'll have the same reaction you had to Carolina On My Mind. For another wonderful and incomparable, but little known artist from the seventies, try Kenny Rankin and his songs Groovin' and Haven't We Met. Even if you listen without a reaction, you will love his unique style - perfect and intense and yet so welcome and easy to consume - like a superior cup of coffee. Savor every sip...
I've loved his music for more than 50 years and it's great to see new generations appreciating how good he is.
He has natural vocal phrasing so easy to listen to, unlike anybody else. Very unique lyrics, intriguing.
Taylor's music was a staple of my upbringing. Many memories are relived with each of his songs, which make attending his concerts a thrill. But, without hesitation, my top favorite James Taylor song that makes me weep from the first note is "Something in the Way She Moves". It's a beautiful melody with tender loving lyrics. If you'll consider reacting to that soon.
I adore JT he’s in my heart forever as far as loving his music all these decades of my life.
Saw him in concert a few times, have all of his early albums and know most of his songs by heart. I had a critically wounded kitty in intensive care for 3 weeks 20 years ago, and I used to sing "Close Your Eyes" every day when I visited him. Years late he would still fall asleep when I sang it to him.
This is one of the best Greatest Hits records. Try and see if you can find some concert performances of his songs. He always puts a little twist in these performances, but it's so him and fun.. He is one of my favorite male singer songwriters.
I've seen James Taylor a number of times, starting in the mid-70s into the mid-80s, in Sunrise, Florida, in Washington, DC, and in Columbia, Maryland. I brought my boyfriend, who was
a jazz guitarist at the time, to the concert in Sunrise, Florida around 1986, and it felt like a spiritual experience. It was that amazing! ❤ I have seen his younger brother, Livingston, at the Barnes of Wolf Trap in Northern Virginia a couple of times in the early '90s and, most recently, up here in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Livingston is a wonderful performer and has a great voice, too. He is definitely his own person! James Taylor's other siblings were all singers, and I believe they all had an album or two, at least in the very beginning. Quite the family!🎉 JT lives in western Massachusetts now. The family has connections to both N.C. and Mass., where their mother was from....
Love James Taylor. What a great singer songwriter. His style is more folk rock. I grew up with his music & had some of his records. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide. He had a lot of hits such as "You've Got A Friend", "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)", "Fire & Rain", "Handy Man", "Sweet Baby James", "Shower The People", "Your Smiling Face" etc. He was married at one time to Carly Simon. They had a few duets together including "Mockingbird" & "Devoted to You".
yes. james taylor, most certainly, IS that guy.♥
OMG. The 'mind worm' Carolina In My Mind. You'll have me humming this for the next two weeks.
JTs voice is like a warm hug. Love this song! Great reaction ❤
Its just heartwarming to see someone today getting into the songs of my distant youth.
My favorite James Taylor song. But I’m a girl from NC, so that’s not a surprise! George Hamilton IV, who you mentioned, was a distant relative of mine on my mom’s side.
I saw James Taylor live back in 1990. He sounds even better live than he does in studio.
It had to be mid 60's when I first heard James. His sister Kate was a classmate so I knew who he was. At an extracurricular event in the basement of the Baptist church, James entertained us with his own music. I was wowed that anyone I knew could actually write a song.
Oh Salvo I love it when sing along a little
Memories of my high school years. James Taylor inspired me to learn to play guitar, 🎶
You're right about JT, his voice is so smooth it seems almost effortless. Nice choice for an album pick, great way to get to know the artist!
Sweet Baby James...
A beautiful singer & person.
My favorite song of his. Also, Copperline and Mexico.
We had great musicians in my day!
I live in North Carolina & this song has always been special to me 💙🩵💙
This certainly touched you…along with the rest of us. Beautiful voice, music, and words.❤
❤JT will get you in your feels for sure. I think you would love JT and the (Dixie)Chicks when the did Crossroads on CMT. IT WAS ACOUSTIC MAGIC❤
James Taylor has a deep well of great music well into the 1990s.
That reedy, beautiful voice. Its so damn great.
This is another example of a perfect song. What sweet harmony guitar playing I love everything about.
You should listen to the live at Beacon theater up on a roof and Handyman phenomenal phenomenal
James Taylor’s voice is so soothing but mournful. I could play “River” and “In the Bleak Mid-Winter” from his Christmas album on repeat. Also, listen to “Fire and Rain”. So soul-satisfying.
I will not comment on James Taylor.....he is iconic as a singer/songwriter and guitarist. Enough said. But DUDE you are approaching 75k! Congrats!! (I know why, of course)
Up On The Roof is my favorite JT song, highly recommend!
Thank you for sharing your reaction to this one. I sense this one touched your soul. His works are infinitely poignant and trigger so many happy memories!
LOVE LOVE to see folks introduced to James Taylor. We were so blessed to have this amazing music. ❤
Feeling the feels...LOVE James.
Thanks for your reaction. In 2023 I went on a round trip by car with my dad, going from Denver up to Yellowstone, and then west to Lake Tahoe, then down to Las Vegas, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon and back up to Denver. While we of course never went to Carolina this song was on our playlist, and I'll forever connect this song with our road trip :)
What a master, and he does it on every album. He also gets some really high end musicians on his stuff like Stevie Wonder and Yo Yo Ma. Oh I wanted to say this made me emotional as he so often does. I probably haven't heard it in about 7 years. Or more. Oh and he's really cool with the fans from what I hear also, he's great.
Hi from Carolina!! Love James Taylor!! 😊
I just love your reactions ...you are so sincere 🤍
May I recommend James's song Copperline. That one will hit you in the feels too.
I've been listening to James since the 70s. He touches my heart and so like no other artist. If you see him live, you fall in love because he's always smiling with love. Check out Traffic Jam. That's a fun one.
James Taylor brings so much emotion and nostalgia into his music. i can see that you got that right away. The only time I remember being reduced to tears in a concert was at a JT concert. I've never even been to the South, but I can feel it in his songs. Another emotional song he did was 'Sweet Baby James'. 'Fire and Rain' as well. So many great ones from him.
I forgot to mention 'Blossom', one of my personal sentimental favorites.
hi Salvo - that best-of white album cover as seen on your clip - its the most divine compilation of James Taylor songs - every single song on it is pure GOLD! 🌟
James was born and lived a while in NC (my home state.) I have always loved this song. Thank you SalvoG.
Another pure and lovely example of James Taylor’s beauty is “You Can Close Your Eyes”. He calls the song “a secular hymn”.
Mexico by Taylor next!
He’s the definition of Classic.
Exactly how I feel every time I've heard this since the 70s. ❤
His song, There We Are, was written to Carly Simon. One of those gems that most don't know about. One of my very favs by him would also be Traffic Jam. Killer groove!
From a North Carolinian...thank you!
When I dive south to Carolina to visit family, I always have to have this roll when I hit the state line. It's a ritual that makes me happy every time. Love James Taylor!
I used to play his music all day long everywhere I went you going down the rabbit hole
JT is a treasure for us all, but proud to count him as a Tarheel. Check out some of his work with Carly Simon and Carole King.
“Mockingbird” with Carly Simon. 👍🏻
My favourite is fire and rain well worth a listen to if you haven't already ❤
❤ this…
Love JT. 2 of the original albums I was able to hang on to are his. Loved him & Carly Simon together ( they were married & have 2 kids together & collaborated on several songs together- Mockinbird is great!)! Handy Man is one of my favorites as is Sweet Baby James, You Can Close Your Eyes & of course his original recording of Carole Kings You’ve Got A Friend. He is the one who convinced Carole into singing & recording her own songs…without him we wouldn’t have Tapestry, her monumental album & a must listen for you!
Ps: Paul McCartney supposedly played bass on this song! With George Harrison on back up vocals too 😃
James is a national treasure. Ty for this one.
As a Carolinian I love this song. It’s an anthem down here and we all know each word. Great song. Check out the new NC band The Avett Brothers…
Blast from the past.
You’re seriously devoid of feeling and emotion if you can’t listen to Sweet Baby James and not fall in love with his voice and music.
Been with me all my 69 years on this earth
James is such a talented singer songwriter. They don't make them like that now a days.
My dad requested I play JT's "Enough to Be On Your Way" at his funeral. I'd love to see you react to that song
James Taylor 🔥🙏❤️
Authentic reactions like yours are the best.
He has one of the most comforting and effortless voices ever. I always said I would like him to sit at the foot of my bed and just sing me to sleep every night and I don’t mean that in a he is boring way. If you want to hear a more rocking song from him, believe it or not, he does a fantastic duet with Linda Ronstadt by the way they’ve done several duets because they’re longtime friends but they do a remake of an Ike and Tina Turner rock classic I Think It’s Gonna Work Out Fine and you should absolutely listen to that to hear James and Linda
Way back!!! Getting to the good stuff... ❣❣❣❣❣❣❣❣
" Karen she's a silver sun you best walk her way and watch it shine"
Best use of my name! 😉
My fave, too.❤❤
such a voice and recognisable anywhere doing anything. First found James Taylor in the soundtrack of a movie - track was 'Handyman' (I think that's what it's called, but could be 'up on the roof'. Cannot remember the name of the movie though. And he seems to (maybe) still touring, I know he was at least until recently
James Taylor got a brother called Livingston Taylor and he sounds just as good and he got a son called Ben Taylor and he sound just as good I got both of their songs his x wife also a well-known singer Carly Simon , Love and kisses❤❤❤
Another great JT song, that has the same feel, is.. "Copperline"
I'm not a huge T-Swift fan (I don't hate her either) but I think it's fascinating that she's named after James Taylor. Apparently her mom was a huge fan- for obvious reasons. JT is incredible - and he sounds the same live. Took my mom to his concert for mother's day- absolutely amazing performance
James Taylor = Smiling face… is a great one!
His greatest hits LP is mandatory for any worthy collection. #sweetbabyjames is my favorite but he has many A+ hits
Another phenomenal singer / songwriter from same era is Neil Diamond. SSOooo good. I strongly suggest you start with I AM, I SAID. such a great song
Definitely in my top five JT songs
Keep delving!
I'm your Handyman.
Good, smooth song!
Great reaction! You should hear his cover of "Moon River."
Check out one of his more obscure gems Copper Line.
