    I love how prospects progress. There was a day we were anticipating Devers being promoted, now we get to enjoy his talent every day. I enjoy the hope of what awaits us every season. The big 4, then what comes after that. I wanted Swihart and Chavis to succeed so much, sometimes you win, sometimes you miss, and I love it all!

    Breslow is going to have to make some tough decisions over the next off-season. Given the limited starting pitching in Boston, and the dearth of starters in the minors, some, if not most of these position prospects will be have to be sacrificed for the rare commodity that is ptiching excellence. (You're not going to get quality starters by ofereing Dalbec and Meidroth, et. al.)

      I like Kristan Campbell the numbers certainly don’t lie, and the Red Spx could fill the middle of the line up with Campbell, send Abriue back down and bring up Campbell. One thing is very clear that are injured players are coming back and if we really want to make a run for the playoffs it’s better to address the need to fill the middle of the line up. I say bring up Campbell to the MLB and if he’s not fully ready let him go back down to AAA.

    Kristian Campbell has been an outstanding prospect. If you are talking numbers alone, he may even be the best prospect in the Sox system. I've read that scouts have been saying that he has a strange hitch in his swing. Unless he's slumping bad, I don't see any reason to fix it or tinker with his swing. One player that I would like you to do an analysis on is an A-ball pitcher named JoJo Ingrassia. He's having a monstrous rookie season and just might be the best pitching prospect in the system, if he continues pitching like this.

    Wilyer has been more productive because his pitch recognition and lay off up has come a long way. He's not getting sucked in as much with down and out out of the zone off speed either. The best may yet to come . He's made major strides at early recognition and quicker to the ball with bat speed. Hip turn mechanics have improved immensely. His fielding skills have progressed nicely too. We are going to look back at the at the time unpopular Vasquez trade as a steal.

    If he continues his success, what I think that does is make one of our top lefty outfielders expendable. The team is too right-handed, and will be worse with Mayer, Teel, and Anthony coming up. A successful Campbell frees up Abreu, Duran, or Anthony to be traded for a top pitching prospect. Though I would hate to see any of them go. I know he can play infield, but we already have some decent RH options at second (Grissom, Yorke).

    Seems like the only thing holding him back is his weird swing. If he can get it under control in the offseason and still prove he can hit he suddenly becomes a top 25 guy who has defensively versatility. His swing is so violent and fast, his hand eye coordination is insane. I don’t think this is a fluke. Look for the Red Sox to continue to find these contact first guys with projectable bodies and coax power out of them. It worked for Duran. It worked for Bogaerts. It’s working for Campbell.
    Also, Sox are kind of desperate for RHH. Can’t imagine they want to trade Campbell at this time. If he’s the real deal he solves a lot of long term issues for the Sox

    • @redseatradio
      @redseatradio  2 месяца назад +1

      I’m curious if they just let the swing be if it works. Obviously tweaks here and there but people said devers swing was way too violent to succeed in mlb too so idk sometimes weird works

    • @jackm4457
      @jackm4457 2 месяца назад

      Trading Grissom, in the next few months, would be selling low -- very low -- on a player that has hit at every level of pro baseball, before his streak of injiuries this year. Valdez, at best, is just a throw in to any significant trade package. Yorke is the big queston mark...

  • @brentbell7235

    From what I see he is primarily a second baseman and is learning the outfield. I don’t have a sense of how good he is defensively.
    That said, sounds like he has some pop… does he profile like a Dustin Pedroia? Also it is nice that he hits from the right side when so many of the Red Sox top prospects hit from the left.
    Breslow is going to have his hands full finding homes for all these middle infield prospects and getting pieces in return, either with the MLB club or restocking the lower levels of the system.

    • @redseatradio

    Campbell is the right-handed outfielder that the RS need. By the time Campbell is going ready the RS will need to make tough decisions. The big 3 prospects are all left-handed, so Breslow is going to have to make some trades. Yorke decision? Mata? They are this year's decisions. Will Henry allow any additions?

  • @Crosshair300
    @Crosshair300 2 месяца назад

    While I am super mad at the ownership for not doing enough, they have the right idea with not trading away future assets to help the major league team right now. A trade to help the Red Sox but giving away Campbell would be a terrible idea. What if the Red Sox traded Devers while he was in the system for immediate success? We would be trash right now. So instead, they need to sign more players in free agency, where they can spend the cash that most teams don't have.

    • @redseatradio
      @redseatradio  2 месяца назад

      I think you may be looking at this the wrong way. Raffy wasn't traded no but the 3 prospects ahead of him were to get Chris Sale and look what that got this team. It's not simply about short term gain with trading players like Campbell it is about the long term as well. If the Red Sox are able to get a top pitcher with 4 years of control because of what he is doing right now that is absolutely a win and you still have Mayer, Anthony and Teel.
