- Опубликовано: 2 июл 2024
- The Google Pixel 6a is so good, we're not sure why the Pixel 7 exists. After 6 months of using one, we'll walk you through how its held up over the past 6 months, how its camera system compared to the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, when going with the 7 Pro is still worth it for camera quality.
We'll also walk you through the build quality, design, battery life, Tensor processor, Pixel specific features like Call Screen, Hold for Me, Direct My Call, Magic Eraser, how good the speaker quality is and lastly, who we think this phone is for, if you should get it over the iPhone SE or Samsung A53.

The pixel 6a is on sale for $300 today and I was able to trade in my Galaxy S10e for $250! $50 for an additional ~5 years of software support was a no-brainer. Can’t wait for it to arrive!
You won’t be disappointed, I use it as daily and I’m impressed by the amount of phone I got for around 300usd
Dont know why you care that much about software support
@@okann_hasan Sure, go on and do online banking on devices without patches.
Problem is super scratchable even from the cover itself got tow weeks ago it is amazing but you should get a cover with soft fabric inside
You'll enjoy
249 at best buy
Pixel 6a experience truly is amazing for the price.
Are you talking about the handwarming experience?
Thank you... I'm definitely about to get me and my lady one before I decide to go back to apple I thought I'd give it a try 1st
Are there major heating issues in 6a??
@@harshshah8598 nothing major. Of course when you are first setting up the phone it all for sure but normal everyday tasks it’s normal
Trust me, the A53 at 120Hz is way buggier and shows frame drops even during usual tasks. I've used the A53 and switched to the 6A few months ago. The 6A 60hz experience is way, way better than A53. Not to mention the longer lasting battery.
Hmm... I must ask, did you compare battery between A53 120hz vs. Pixel 6A 60hz?
I wouldnt buy a Shamesung phone ever. Bloatware and ui are the worst. And 60hz is providing a better battery life and is good enough for me. ☮️
@@ninetendopesaitama2107 Bro did you just say Samsung UI is the worst 😂 it's litterly the best android ui and agree with the bloatware and stuff but Samsung's ui is way better than ios and Google pixels ui for me atleast
@@fbi247 that's the point, for you. For everybody else the pixel experience is the best
@@NicoMalve nah one ui is way better
Straight to the point and no nonsense. Well done good sir.
I've had a pixel 3a for years now and have been tickled pink with it. And found your review on the 6a very helpful. 👍🏻 Thanks
I got $150 trade in for my 3a xl. Bought 6a for $175 total after trade-in
such a good video. congrats on the work
Bought my 6a at launch and couldn't be happier it's been an excellent device. Well worth the purchase.
I use both the 7 Pro and the 6a plus I was able to purchase the 6a when it was on sale for $300 during their sale. And Google even gave me $270 for my Pixel 6 which had cracks on the screen (no brainer). I really do enjoy the 6a a lot, I use it when I'm trail running, hiking or doing some other sport activity. Much more compact than my 7 Pro. Great video thank you.
Most people getting the 6a have never experienced a refresh rate above 60 so I hate when reviewers say it's a major downside... But it's not for the person actually buying it... Same with camera quality most people are coming from a cheap crappier one so really any new phone is going to be better... Good job for not making them a "major disappointment" like everyone else
wow one of the best pixel 6a vids ive seen, very honest and with good backing ups, im only afraid to get this phone cause of the heating issues ive heard... dunno if it will heat up much while using insta twitter.. listening music or podcasts...
Love your review
Got this device for $299 in the black Friday sales. Couldn't have been happier! Great handset!
Wow, that is a steal!
@@6MonthsLater Yeah, but they are all on sale again right now. Both at BestBuy and Amazon.
It's currently back at that price at many retailers! (I also took advantage of the $299 price on Black Friday weekend, though)
I got it at $263 during the 11.11 Singles Sale last year. It was a steal and I'm loving it.
@@izalyusuf wow, that's amazing. If only I had just bought my phone a few weeks earlier
I do think that the next base Pixel flagship should have a better distinction than their a series of phones. Something like adding a 2x zoom or higher refresh rate on say the Pixel 8 should make the Pixel base flagship to better distinguished itself even compared to upcoming little brother the 7a which is going to get a hardware upgrade like the standard 7 and also give better value proposition to already great value smartphone. As good as the 7 is a bit more refinement can be done.
Absolutely love my pixel 6a, Google customer for life. $300 (got it on sale) for flagship performance and google support for at least 5 years is awesome.
I am an iphone user, but i own also a Pixel 4a5G and a Pixel 6a. The last one is a gem. I really reccomend this smartphone.
Spectrum is selling it for $249.99, ordered it last Friday, will be arriving tomorrow. Still won't replace my Galaxy S20 FE 5G as my main phone, though (which I also got for around $250 about 16 months ago).
As I am currently watch this on my Pixel 7 Pro lol. For me personally, the most important thing is just battery life and price (which is the reason I was planning on upgrading recently anyways). Had I not been gifted the 7 Pro, I probably would have bought the 6A. Solid battery life and great price (when on sale). When on sale, I definitely would have gone with the 6A for sure.
I have a Pixel 6 and love it I will upgrade in a few years I love the Pixel phones I have had a Samsung galaxy and iphone before and I would go with a pixel handsdown. Best phone for price. Cant wait to see what they do in a few more years.
#TeamPixel
If I was going to replace my pixel 6 tomorrow, I'd probably go for the 6a over the standard 7.
Nice video as always, I would agree with everything you said. My wife has the 7 and I have the 6a. Also, I also live near Raleigh and go to many of the same areas as you it seems. Maybe one day I'll run into you! If that ever happens I'll do my best to not be creepy haha
Glad you enjoyed it and if you do run into me, feel free to say hey! - Josh
😂 love that
I just picked up the pixel 7 for $399 so to me it's worth the extra $100 over the pixel 6A because of the tensor 2 chip and higher screen refresh rate
No RUclipsr talks about the Audio/Video out of sync issue while watching RUclips or any other video streaming apps. We then have to re start the device for that issue to resolve. Everytime we need to restart after watching for a while, it is really annoying
The biggest problem with the Pixels is availability, if I lived on a region where Google sells their Pixels i'd definetely get one
Which country do you live in?
I do own a pixel 7 pro i have not had any issues my battery has lasted a day or more without charging it if your worrired about battery life go through your phone and turn off the things or settings that fastly drain your battery depends on how you use your phone as well happens with any smart phone i would over all its been a pretty solid phone i would reccomend it
This used to be the mkbhd kind of video. Actually gives you an idea to whether or not buy the product
Perfect video 👌 no bullshit ☝️
man how do you get those night photos? My 6a sucks at that. I'm getting back to iphone
It always makes me giggle with glee when I see your pictures around the triangle 😁😂
Dude looks like Mark-paul Gosselaar- Zack. Thanks for tye review preppy.. Honestly though love it as im looking for a phone
I don't mind a 60hz refresh rate. I'm using an iPhone 12 and it has the same refresh rate; so I won't notice much of a difference. I used to have a phone that had 120hz and while it was nice, I can definitely live without it. Picking up my 6a sometime this week! Been itching to go back to android based phones!
I went with the 7 over the 6a because the Google tradeins were so high over black Friday. The 7 cost me 60$ with a iphone XR tradein. The 6a would have cost me 40$ after trade.
The 6a is a great phone though and I recommend it to any friends or family looking for an affordable phone.
Crane ?
Expected some heavy lifting installation. But that's just an ordinary Blue Heron
Everything is good? What about overheating, finger print scanner, modem, 6/128GB?
I bought my pixel 7 on sale for 496 usd, and it is the best phone I've ever used.

Lemme not go any further here are some reasons:
Better materials/build quality/premium feel.
Longer Software Support
Better Screen
Better Chip
More Features
Wireless charging
Better Camera
....
You didn't touch on the wide angle camera's at all, I'm gonna be getting the 6A, my OP6 is starting to show it's age.
One of the best reviews I've seen on the differences between the current Pixels. Thank you 👍
@Months_Later how do I direct message you?
I pre-ordered the Pixel 7 Pro and received a free Pixel Watch LTE and £85 store credit, so it effectively cost £365. The deals on the Pixel 6a at the launch were nominal versus that, so if you live in the UK (and other countries), then the P7P is a no-brainer at pre-order. Now, the story is different as the differential is much larger. However, on eBay, I bought a new 256GB Pixel 7 Pro for a family member, which cost £600, which is £350 off, months ago. So, if you can stretch your budget, the P7 Pro is a great bargain, and if you keep it for 4-5 years, the extra cost will repay many times with more features and a better experience.
Love my 7
Was going to get the pixel 6a but the 7 was being offered at a great deal
I've been using it for over a year and I use it for lots of things at work and also I own the S24 Ultra. I like them both, two different phones for different needs. It's sad that Google pays less when you try to trade-in for their own devices.
couldnt skip the 7 when google had a deal where trading in a pixel 6 for a 7 only costed $20 😁had to do it
The only thing holding me back from this is the size, i prefer smaller phones to use in one hand, i've been stuck on iPhone SE (1st gen) for too long because i tried using larger phones and it was atrocious.
I wish Google would launch a compact version of its pixel devices.
13 mini?

Sadly, these last 16 months have been a learning experience for me, i always prefered windows phone and i had android for most of my life, i wanted to try iOS for the longest time.
Now i finally know for certain, i absolutely despise iOS, what an awful, awful o.s it is.
I want a small android with oled screen that doesnt lag.
This feels lighter and easier to hold since it's narrower
Problem is super scratchable even from the cover itself got tow weeks ago it is amazing but you should get a cover with soft fabric inside
Yes. I want the same size in a pixel.
Asus has an amazing smaller phone
this is a great phone to buy brand new, i decided to get the 6, theyre 220-250 used and have a better screen, more ram and better camera. Pixel 6 is the most underrated phone from last year.
they are so cheap because of all the issues they had with cellular connectivity. Everyone is getting rid of them
@@xeon2k8 all those issues are gone, it took 7-8 months after the release to get it right but those issues are long gone. The pixel 6 is a great phone now. I love mine.
@@xeon2k8 my pixel 6 is absolutely fine, never misses a beat . Probably experiences less problems than the pixel 7 series now
@Mark Southwell did they finally solve the mobile data battery drain and heating issues? I had the 6 pro and those two issues and the finger print sensor just killed the experience so bad for me I actually went to a S22 ultra thoough I will always miss the pixel experience even though the S22 ultra is a much better overall experience than the 6 pro.
@@itisfinished4U just look up a review of the pixel 6 and pro in 2023. They will say what I was saying. All the issues are fixed and they are great phones for the value. They might not be the most exciting but this pixel 6 is the best Android experience I've had.
Problem is super scratchable even from the cover itself got tow weeks ago it is amazing but you should get a cover with soft fabric inside
Is it super easy scratchable even with cover? i just used pixel 5a and has plan to upgrade to 6a since tensor chip a lot better for export and render video than sd765 but everyday task just almost same (based on youtube review). But since you said it is easily scratchable i guess i will stick with my 5a. What is your opinion? is it worth it to upgrade from 5a to 6a that is easily scratchable?
I never regret using this phone 😊😊 📱 one of the best
I actually bought the samsung galaxy a53 and i have had some many issues with it so now im looking at this phone used iphone as well. I never understand why phones seem to maybe last 6 months to a year till they start crapping out i had this one for less then a year and half the time my phone won't even ring so im just done and going to try this now.
Buy it direct from the Google Store. Best price and you get the satisfaction that you can return it if there is a problem and the warranty is going to be legit because you bought it from the Google Store. Just saying...
Yess
No problems with 6a except with the fingerprint. it only gets read around 7/10 times(I do have a tempered glass). pretty annoying sometimes but still ultra worth the cheap price/
Do a second fingerprint
Hello amazing video..i am thinking buying pixel 6a beacuse in greece it costs 315€..Is it worth ?Μy priorities are camera, video+ smooth system experience for 4 years,a bright oled and last but not least the battery life of it,,,,Also i am thinking about iphone 13(costs.677€).Do you think that it worth the double + price than pixel 6a?Thanks in advance
does it still has a heating issue
Wireless charging and face unlock alone make the 7 well worth the extra $150, for me, anyway.
Not for me. Face unlock is not used for everything with the pixel 7 bc its unsafe.
Yeah…in EU the Pixel prices are much more different :)
If you live in Southern California, the pixel seven gets quite a bit brighter than the 6a, the modem is better, seven has wireless charging, the fingerprint scanner is much better, it has face unlock, it has the 90 versus the 60 on the 6a, it has the newer cameras that will get better as Google continues to update them, and since it was released with android 13 not 12 like the 6a it will get another year of support. There is many reasons why the seven is worth the extra money and that’s not to say the 6a isn’t a good phone but to say there’s no reason to update that’s ridiculous.
for majority of people 7 is not worth 30% more than the 6a. If it's discounted (as it usually is) then yeah could be a deal.
I’m definitely going to buy the 6a over the 7. $150 bucks less, or… $150 bucks leftover to get some pixel buds. Yup definitely would rather phone + buds over just the phone imo.
I got one because I had to update my internet and if I added mobile phone it actually brought the price down of my plan. So win win.
Just switched to metro and got this phone for free it was a no brainier and it's amazing also metro is ridiculously fast like slightly under 480mbps in my area so it was a win win
And the built in hand warming mechanism from the tensor!
Isnt pixel 7 and pro are having camera shattering issue?
I lost my Pixel 6 Pro last week but really wanted to keep Google's software experience, so I went to Best Buy and they had an open box Pixel 6a for $270. I immediately bought it.
Besides being shoved back into 60 Hz Land (which I will stress, SUCKS coming from a 6 Pro), I really wasn't expecting the actual performance to be as good as my phone. I render and edit a lot of videos and was astonished when rendering length felt about the same. And the battery life is insane, though with a 60 Hz display I guess I should expect that. I just wish they put a 90 Hz display on this phone, I would have absolutely nothing to complain about.
Turn on google location so you can trace your phone to the exact location
Gorilla glass 3 protection of front glass of 6a could last for 6 months ? It easily breaks.
The reason I went for the 7pro is a very easy one, 120hz!
I tried the 6a and it was simply great except I could never get used to the 60hz..
I'm upgrading from the OP6 to the 6a shortly, going from 60 to 60 is fine lol. To me I think of it as the 120hz on the TV, I don't really like watching movies at 120hz lol, but I know.. scrolling, that's a big deal these days.
Because the 7 is a better phone. Yes, the 6a is great for the price. SO is the pixel 7. 90Hz display, better design, better camera. I went 7 and love it. best android money can buy.
U stated as review of 6a , but u showed comparison with 7pro
To me the answer to the initial question - Pixel 7 has a 90 Hz screen and a clearly faster SOC which make a difference. But I guess now it makes sense to wait for Pixel 7A, if you can, to get those 2 important spec upgrades and that will save you some money, while 6A is still a great option on a budget right now
The soc speed really isn't much of a difference if you look up the numbers, the 90hz display on the 7 gives the illusion that it's much faster than the 6a but then again that shows you how 90hz is important to those who are used to it and the 6a is unfortunately lacking it.
i just bought the 6a at best buy today for 160 with a t mobile plan
Still waiting for 7a
should i wait for 7a or just buy 6a ?
Ok ok I have both of these and the pixel 7 is definitely a better buy. Especially if you can buy it at a cheaper price. It has wireless charging, face unlocked, faster. A updated chip, a little bit better camera, and better battery life, and you get the VPN on the 7 series
Even at $150 more, the 7 is a step up and probably worth it.
Agreed
Bought 6a for 300$ as second phone (main 14pro) and just good cheap android.
My Pixel 6 has a terrible modem. It drops calls on 4G and occasionally mutes calls in the middle of the call. I wonder whether I'd have the same problem with the 6a for a secondary phone which I'm shopping around for.
The 6a has great reception,it came out after the 6.all the bugs are worked out with the 6a
@@oceanpacific3841 Thanks! Can you confirm it has a different modem?
@@redwan03able It has the same modem and there are slight network issues, it's nothing unusable like frequent drops but it evidently suffers less reception at times for sure. For example, I used to use Moto Edge 30 on 5G no issues for downloading and online gaming as hotspot, but with Pixel 6a 5G is unstable (same network - same location) and 4G download speeds are also lesser than what I got with Moto.
I still prefer Pixel simply because experience wise nothing seems to compare, it is just a good phone all round.
@@redwan03able He's bluffing. Pixel 6A too has network issues. Just google about it. Better go for Pixel 7 or wait for 7A.
4:27 what is that game?
Cant decide between the zenfone 8 or the 6a. Both same price
The real reviews…
U shoupdve compared it with the regupar 7 not the pro wtf
6A is the real phone of the year
60hz is unusable to some, and that's not snobbery - you can find insanely cheap phones with high refresh displays, and it's entirely feasible that someone in the low end of the market would skip the 6a because of the refresh rate.
120hz is useless with garbage SOC. Most cheap phones with 120hz starts to look like 30hz after one or two years of use. Pixel 6A has flagship Tensor chip which beats all cheap phones .
one word, tensor, 1 day battery only, gets hot for no reason, not sure if this is the word
I'm not overly happy with my battery life on my 6a though I don't have much experience with phones as this is my second. But it's still pretty good.
The video quality doesn't feel as smooth as other phones but it's still very great.
Zooming in makes the quality substantially worse (as expected of course) but compared to my dad's 7 pro is mind boggling good which is one of my favourites.
Great phone but in my opinion I would get the 7 over 6a
Dude my battery lasts me all day and I use it at work for tasks as well. You need to adjust your settings. Everyone I know gets at least 12 hours, including myself. This is also my second phone and my first true "flagship" type phone, blown away by it.
@@alexv5581 12 hours of screen on time??
@@madmarty2892 actually.. on my 6a I get ~10 hours of screen on time scrolling through news or texting through discord or whatever from 100% to 0% without Battery Saver mode. I haven't measured it with Saver mode on, mostly because I never need to. In games I unsurprisingly get less life, but I don't play them enough to measure it.
I'm planning to buy the device. But is 6 GB of RAM enough these days? I plan to use the device for a long time and I don't want to have any performance problems in the future.
I have a 4-5 year old lg v40 with just 6 gigs of ram and the ram management makes the experience really smooth, I can have up to 8 apps running in the background and switch between them without any jitters and you also gotta think about how snapdragon 845 is really old while pixels tensor chip is new and more optimized
Yeah its fine, specially if it runs stock android like Pixel Series which has less bloatware.
colleague bought it these days and showed it to me tonight. I assure you that you will not have any problems for years. the user experience is absolutely superior to any other ever tried (I write from a Zenfone 8), the fluidity and coherence of the animations is absolutely lustful! the fluidity and speed of the system exceptional. fingerprint faster than mine which cost €200 more at launch. beautiful, comfortable, light ... battery that lasts two days ... what to say: fantastic!
I need more than 6GB as I cycle 20 apps around during the day and do not want reloads. The 6GB P6 will be better than the S23 8GB as Samsung is bloated, and 8 apps are the best I can cycle through on my S22U 8gb version. I recommend 8GB minimum in 2023 for best user experience and longevity. Though thankfully, apps open fast on the Tensor chips.
Its a great blue heron, not a crane :)
I Really wanted to get the Pixel 7 Pro, but it and the 7, sometimes have bad/intermittent connectivity (cellular, Wifi & bluetooth) issues 😞
Not sure about the 6a
the g1 tensor with the modem it uses is actually worse on the 6 series devices, I had the 6 pro and 7 pro and the 7 pro had a lot less connectivity problems than the 6 series
I am disappointed by buying 6a, I had very good experience using pixel 3AXL, 6A pixel phone getting hot very easily and the battery performance also not good...
Why do I feel the camera is better than iPhone 13?
Really?
the 6a only has a 128gb storage option while the 7 has 256gb, in a world where expandable memory is no longer a thing 128gb is not suffice for me.
6a was the first my Pixel that I immediately wanted to put in a case (very, very bad and slippery plastic)
Yup use custom pixel experience rom on Poco F1 and you don't even need to pay $300
I got it brand new for $199 but through straight talk.
6a goes for 150 US today, wow
Did you get one? It updates till Android 15 and more security updates till 2027
Well, you lost me the moment you said, the tensor battery is good! Lol.
I want this item but almost everyone states that it over heats while filming and GPS?
Mine does not. It's been great while I game and use GPS. Had no issues all summer. Almost winter here.
Maybe get one from a good retailer that accepts returns and test it. Pixels are infamous for overheating, but many issues are fixed by software updates
I just got mine and it came with a yellowish display, anyone got the same problem?
Return it and get a new one
try resetting it and check. even i got the issue after android 13 upgrade
With no wireless charging and no face unlock, the 6A is a budget device that has those two omissions that I have appreciated over the past few years. Yes, I bought one for £190 and that is the most I would have paid.
Both are not important to me. And face unlock is still not used for everything in the 7 as its not safe.
Two useless gimmicks
