Hands down the BEST tutorial on both methods I’ve come across! Thank you 🙏🏾 As a complete beginner I think I’ll brave it and go for the raking method 1st.

I've only tried shingling once, the curls were beautiful but the shrinkage was insane

  • @FroLifeFroever

When you have a TWA, the shingling method is best for a more defined look. Once your hair grows out of the TWA stage, the taking method is better. That’s just what I’ve experienced in my hair journey.

I don't know. I recently tried raking over shingling and my curls look way better. i wanted to wear my natural curl pattern, so raking was perfect while shingling created tighter, but more defined curls. I prefer the volume and natural definition that raking gives me.

Another things I like about your videos is its not like so many others, where people go way overboard, with what I call, an I'm so pretty dance, attitude, and/ or dress. When watching those "overboard" videos I'm often reminded of being told that a person should be pretty and know but not pretty and show it. That is how you are, beautiful and confident and I like that.

I love the shingling method for my 4 type hair. I do a combination of shingling and coiling. I do it so often to the point where it takes me 30mins to complete my entire head. It just looks better, imo.

  • @adailydaughter6196

Great vid. Thanks. My take away is that for tighter curls or less naturally defined, shingling would work best. For bigger or more naturally defined curls, raking 😀

Raquel Watanasrimongkol 🤗🤗🤗 and yea you have to find someone on here w/ your type of curl pattern and see the techniques they use. Wash n goes are about technique and realizing your curl pattern is yours. Sometimes ppl watch videos (im victim) and say oh my hair was a fail bc it didnt look like that and thats unrealistic.

I like both of them, now that you explained them, however, mostly do the Raking method, due to time and work and everything else, but considering the fact that the shilling method is tighter and it last longer, O think they both have their purpose so I will use both when necessary. Thanks a bunch girl, and your hair is the bomb.

I really learned some things from this video. I didn’t know about shingling and taking. I think I lean more towards raking. When I do a fresh wash and go, on my very wet hair, I apply mixture of Mixed Chicks and Shea Moisture Caster Oil smoothie leave in conditioners. I don’t use any kind of butter (maybe I should). Then I section my hair and apply Camille Rose curl maker. After doing these things, I use a large tooth comb and my Denman brush to distribute the products through my hair. I also lean my head to the left, right and backwards using my Denman brush in a some what upward direction (I’m trying to encourage volume). Then I shake my hair from side to side, forward and backward. Curls form on their own. It takes a long time to dry but I like it.

Got to say that your curls came out looking awesome with both methods in my opinion. But the main thing I wanted to say was, thank you for this video. Because I've finally learned about another method for defining my curls other than the raking approach. Which I still kind of like. Just I think for right now with my hair type and still figuring things out since going natural. The raking method, just is not quite what I need. But I think with a better curl definer and more practice with the shingling approach(as well as a bit more time in doing it, lol), I may have found a way to get my coils back. Thanks again. :D

Hi I’m a new subscriber and am excited to see someone with my length hair and somewhat similar curls. How do you maintain your short washing go? Also I have problem in that my curls seem to shrink and bunch up when they dry I don’t have any movement do you have any suggestions?

Great video! It made me realize why my hair has been flat this week. I normally rake but I shingled my wash n go more than normal this week. I definitely prefer raking.

Raking is the method for me. Your left side looks better and did not require as much time.
Of course, your hair curled at the very first application of product, Alisha. A 4C gal like me needs to put in some real work. 😜

I would love if you could answer! 🙏🏽 How do you preserve your curls overnight without flattening them? I found that for shorter hair, my hair gets flattened even in a pineapple

both techniques seem very interesting to me. I have never tried the products, I usually use shea Butter products because i love the moisture and because my hair absorbs quickly. Thanks you for the info, and by the way your make-up was beautiful.

Thanks for doing this. I don't see enough of a difference between the two to do the shingling method. It's too time-consuming.

Question: How do you care for your hair until the next wash and go? Do you just wear a satin bonnet at night? Does the raking method require any refreshing the next day?

I love both, but the definition of the Shingling side looks nice.

I have to stay away from shingling because my curls get super tight leaving no length what so ever.

myisha swearengin true... my wash n goes have longevity and i just pineapple or band to stretch

This is so me. Yes, I get great curls, but the shrinkage is insane. And no matter how carefully I try to separate or stretch after, I get frizz.

@@beaubeauknows3620 band method works better for me as the pineapple stretches out in some places but shrinks in other places causing my shape to look ridiculous

Was your hair dry when you started this process both (raking and shingle)?

Its frizz Oman the racking side because of how you applied the products. It was more so sitting on top rather in between like the shingling side. But thank you much for this vid. Definitely helped

Your hair looks so beautiful ! I'm assuming you're high porosity. Since you sprayed a little water on your hair and then added the product and your hair absorbed it so quickly. It must be nice. Great video.

I have never did a wash n go but I do rake products in my hair as oppose to shingling.

It’s the raking side. Was your hair sticky or anything after it dried??
