Only a drummer can really appreciate how hard it is to make that groove flow right. It’s one of those drum parts where you can get 85% of the way there with some hard graft. But that last 15% - all the subtle nuances, the internal dynamics and the flow - ahh that’s where Jeff’s magic was. So what I’m basically saying is nice work Ben! 👏🤩👍

He nailed that shuffle. Stayed completely in the pocket without wavering..never rushed leading into that bridge “meet you all the way 🎵” which is very common and easy to do with this song. Porcaro would’ve been proud.

The incredible Danny Lopresto handling the Steve Lukather baritone/2nd tenor part, and Jordon Lennon and Glenn Cunningham dealing with Bobby Kimball's 1st tenor (and 2nd soprano?) notes - WOW. Ben Todd on the Purdie/Rosanna shuffle (Jeff Porcaro would be proud); Mark and Gerald somehow finding the correct synth voices to cover those Minimoog/Yamaha/Hammond and Prophet sounds of the 80s. Daniel shreds! The HSCC Brass shines! Con slamming the bass... Thanks Con for a super arrangement and production. There is something magical about LIVE music performed by incredibly talented Adelaide artists.

Saw HSCC at Alexandra hills, QLD on August 11th 2024 with my wife and absolutely loved it. Standing room mainly but didn't matter as we were on our feet all concert bopping away. Loved it so much that we would certainly go see them again.

Toto was one of the most technically accomplished bands there has ever been. The band is full of superb musicians. I think they would definitely approve of this cover..

I am the hugest Toto fan, and have been a lover of their music for almost 4 decades. This, as we all know, is equally their most iconic song, and you need big cojones to do this one justice. Their are so many components of the song that can trip you up, from the synchronising of the keyboard/horn vamps, the guitar parts including that amazing solo, and the most iconic drum groove. Jeff set the bar astronomically high on this one. I only usually smile when I hear Toto do this song, but I smiled from ear to ear listening to this cover. There is so much to love about this version. Right off the bat, the simple intro right into that half time shuffle brings the largest smile. and from there on the hits just keep coming. The vocals are spot on and Jordan covering the Bobby Kimball higher register lines is perfect. But the special addition of Glenn's harmonies adds an extra dimension never previously heard, and it is bloody great!!
Daniel's guitar parts are spot on and the solo plays homage to Luke's original melody, but he adds enough individuality to make it his own. Very nice. And even better that he is using a 'Luke' Music Man guitar. Love it.
If i was to comment on every component of the arrangement, i would be here for hours. So sufficient to say, that IMHO, this is the best cover of this song ever, and this is the best cover by HSCC of any of their songs, and they have done some amazing covers.

What fantastic singers. I am 70 and have seen so many of the bands in real, and i have to comment on the sound of these musicians, they need to be recognized for sure . What a pleasure for sure!

jaw dropped, as a drummer myself, all I can say is this drummer made justice to this song, it felt completely like Porcaro played.

Listen to the rolling fills he does during the screen melting guitar solo atthe end. His Dad and Jordan were digging the h*lll out of his chops. Both Steve and Ben make percussion look easy - it's not.

Those decades 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's were truly the best IMO for great bands and music. Plus the 80's belonged to Australia, a secret we've kept too long. HSCC are just too good.

That guitar at the end! WOW! You did Lukather justice! I could hardly believe how perfectly HSCC covered this iconic song. Keyboards are absolutely spot on! Horn section is tight and bright! All the while, the drums are like a continuous roll of perfection in the background. And the vocal trio is awesome! 40+ years and this song hasn't lost its magic. Gotta listen again and again and again!
Real melodies will stand the test of time. TOTO's best album came out in 1982 so they got a Grammy Award for the album of that year.

Toto has always been one of my favorites from that era....they were all such excellent musicians and song writers. If you haven't heard it, Steve Lukather's latest album is so good, I think you would like it 😊

Jeff Porcaro was one of the greatest drummers of all time, my particular favourite. The drums are on point without a doubt, HSCC are the very highest level of musicians.
The HSCC band are now officially the best cover band that sound better than most of the original artists playing their own songs .👌 💛
The Porcaro intro shuffle, the laser precision guitars, the metronomic percussion, the flawless keys, that pristine horn section and Con gluing it all together - and if you only had just one of Danny, Jordan or Glenn, it'd be a good day. But all three on the same track? Great work guys!

Not as difficult as is claimed. It's mythical status is overhyped. Most talented drummers can play it , no problem.

as someone from a completely different generation (born 2007) its amazing to see these songs still mainstream, and its even more amazing to see that these re-recordings are reaching the ears of those who where alive when the originals where released.

For someone like myself who grew up listening to all these songs back in the day, the attention to detail by the vocalists and especially the musicians is absolutely astonishing how precise every last note played and sung is...Rosanna is yet another prime example of this !!
This musicianship and sound of the band is amazing. Being a drummer myself i have to give much respect to your drummer for the perfect execution of the shuffle. He is probably the second drummer i watched on RUclips that plays this correctly. I have watched lots of drummers who can play this groove but hack away at it. The ghost notes, flow, and consistency are right on point. Great work!!

Joy. That's what is on display right here folks. Take note of the facial expressions of everyone in this band. They are in a world of their own and know each are playing a most spectacular piece in a grand orchestra. We are so fortunate to get a glimpse into their world. Every muscian had an A game take and we got a gift with this performance.

Drum grooves don't get named very often, but the "Rosanna shuffle" is about as iconic as it gets... High degree of difficulty with that hi-hat arm feeling like it's gonna drop off when the song's finished. Great job Ben, brilliantly perfomed.
Agree with the hi-hat but it's in combination with the ghost notes on the snare that does it for me You can really hear it on Jeff Porcaro's isolated track.
It's that full combination of hats, snare and kick that makes this groove so infectious

As an Australian visiting the USA in Nov/Dec 22 I briefly met a couple at a Chicago metro station in Nov that recommended I look up the HSCC on RUclips (after hearing my Australian accent). Extraordinary! The best HSCC performance in quite a while. Amazing vocals, impeccable instrumentation, and kudos to the blazing lead guitar. It's very easy to fall flat on your face covering such a difficult classic, but HSCC rose to the challenge and more!
