volume is too low, and it would help if you said what you were doing just before you do the action so we can follow what controls your manipulating; would appreciate more detail in everything. Thanks
How would you figure out which approach or departure would be suitable for our route? I always randomly click through them until I find one that faces the right direction, but I'd assume some charts on skyvector (or elsewhere) could help me there? Any hints?
Prior knowledge is your best friend. Knowing your options beforehand is my best suggestion. IRL you could ask the contorllers or he'd give you something that would make sense.
@@DiggyPowell that makes sense. Now without the ATC, is there some place to find that stuff? Like a map of different approaches for the airport or so? Let's say there are two named ones in the FMS, would you just click through them and check the map to find the best one or is there a more systematic method?
Great video and good to emphasise how to get frequencies etc. in game because, although SkyVector is great for details and landing plates for US airports, it gets sparse for other parts of the globe. E.G. UK coverage is far less detailed.
Hi Diggy. Great videos. This might be more of a Windows question. How do you pull in the other programs while flight sim 2020 is running? I’m guessing you have multiple monitors? Thank you.
diggy, after you insert fp, don't you have to push the load button and then when you are ready for approach, you after activate and load approach. one more question, what would cause a loss of oil pressure while cruising on a route at 17,000 in the tbm930. thanx. nice tutorial.
No idea about the oil unless you ran out of gas or activated failures in flight. You only need to load and activate procedures or specific legs of a flight. Hope that helps!
You cannot enter any airways into the FMS on FS2020. Only waypoints, it really doesn't make a difference because a Victor Airway is just a line from two waypoints. But I find the G3000 the easiest to use in FS2020 because of the keyboard. The G1000 is very annoying to use the knobs to dial in every waypoint/freq.
@@DiggyPowell right, except I usually fly jets, and the J airways, so you can fly 1500 miles and use two Jetways, which cover two dozen waypoints. But I'll take what I can get. Thanks. Also a lot of times a Victor airway will go to another waypoint that you don't necessarily see on Skyvector, but would make a difference on a simulation such as PilotEdge.
As someone new to simming who has been doing a lot of flying via IFR in the TBM but doing it blindly, keep these coming! Especially in the TBM. You've got a good voice and manner of speaking. With a little bit of pacing on the words and slightly better recording I could see these videos really taking off! Some random tips from a musician who knows just enough to be dangerous when it comes to recording: see what you can do with some compression. Check your levels before recording. You could also consider running the audio through plugins on say a recording program like REAPER. Maybe hardware upgrades if that's your thing, but use youtube and forums to find some tips and tricks, you can do a lot with very little these days! But whatever you do, I hope to see more videos!
@@DiggyPowell yes I have no doubt about that. If you could do the IFR basics that would be so awesome !! thanks a lot ! I'm actually studying for my IFR rating so that would be a huge help
@@guillaumefo That's great! I'm not even IFR rated yet so the sim is a great learning process for me too. I'll help out the best I can. Best of luck to you!
@@DiggyPowell Good video, but the problem is that in order to clearly hear your voice I have to increase the entire Windows 10 speaker volume and the *system* bells and alerts are off the charts (I have good Klipsch speakers). It's like you're 6 feet away whispering to the mic. I have to lower the volume after your video.
Another great tutorial. I’d love to see you demonstrate how you deal with flight plan adjustments mid-flight. E.g. diverting to a new airport, requesting a new approach or transition from ATC (without having to double back to previous waypoints), etc.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Adrienne Ma anytime! Let me know what you’d like to see!?
great vid, thanks. voice over still a bit silent though......
Icey Jones thanks for the heads up! I’ll make sure to pump the volume in the future!
Fantastic video 👍🏻

Great point! I have a hard time finding airport data using skyvector in other parts of the world. So that little tip is very useful!
Very well done but voice could really use some higher volume.
Thank you! I’m working on the issues!
Diggy Powell Would be great if you could make this audible and repost.

Tnx for tutorial, opened my eyes for flight planning in plane and startup. Tip: dont go to fast, take small pause after every mouse click :)
What are you using to get cockpit views, I have TrackIr 5 but I'm not good at setting it up?
MrZX1409 I really don’t use many preset views. I use the arrow keys to move around the cockpit and use the zoom as well! I really don’t use much else!
They need to really do some work on in game RTC. I fly Colorado and they always run me into mountain if not careful.
Love your video! This is the first I’ve seen where you explain how to manually start the engine and avionics with simple explanations. Keep it up!
Good all. you only need to use navigation charts for correctly procedures.
Thanks very much for this. Excellent!

This is a fantastic tutorial. Thank you.
I've been watching a lot of the tbm autopilot tutorials and this was really handy for the last few miles!
Johannes Eckert glad to hear it!
need to try things proper soon
You have a really beautiful voice.
Airways? You have to enter waypoints only GNS430 style? You'd think G3000 would be a little more advanced than that. Thanks for the tutorial.

How do you incorporate Skyvector into MFS 2020
I have it pulled up on chrome on my second monitor. There aren't any useful charts or databases within the sim.
Voice audio too low. Did you check the volume before uploading to RUclips?
