    Great vid, I was using this TBM in depth today in Greenland, I swear on startup checklist there is a step I don't see on your screen about switching to that High Idle position when NG is somewhere (50?) for a little, then moving it over into the main track where taxi speed is. Not a big deal, but I wonder if something that small of a detail was added on in an update? Im on Xbox Series X, are you on PC and is that diff? Or I'm losing my mind from playing this game too much lately lmao! But nice explanation of every thing in practical, concise way!

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  2 года назад

      Looking back at the video, low idle was selected at 13% and high idle at 15. Around 50% high idle was selected and then moved to the taxi position right away. It happened quick in the video but high idle has to be selected before the throttle can be moved over to the taxi position. The video was made on PC. MSFS is a lot of fun for sure. There is so much to see and always new airplanes coming out.

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 года назад +1

      I am not sure how it is in the actual airplane. I looked in a POH online and found nothing helpful. Some tabs go in the same direction as the control surface and some are in the opposite to counter control force inputs. If it moves in the same direction it would move with the control surface to counter the forces and prevent too much input from the pilot. I tend to agree with you that the tab when trimmed should move in the opposite direction. • @JorgeAmengol
      @JorgeAmengol 3 года назад +1

      It may well be a case of inverted animation, which other examples have been found in FS2020. I’m not an engineer, but to me that tab movement would deflect the rudder in the opposite direction, yawing the aircraft to the right, unless the rudder itself stays put, which is weird.

    Two questions after watching this great tutorial again.
    When you're in an aircraft such as the TBM 930 not equipped with a beacon light, how do you signal to the ground crew you're about to start the engine or start moving when doing a pushback?
    Next, are you supposed being able to capture the localizer of an ILS when you're in HDG mode with NAV source set to LOC and the correct ILS freq and inbound course set?

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 года назад +1

      Another choice would be the strobe lights.
      It should be possible to capture the localizer while in HDG mode with NAV pressed. We do it that way in real flying. ATC gives a heading to fly to intercept the localizer. Example: "Turn left heading 270, maintian 2000 until established, cleared ILS runway 30 approach." In which case you would press APR when you hear cleared for the approach but HDG would stay active on the FMA until the localizer course is intercepted. However, FS2020 doesn't let that happen. The CJ4 WTM DOES work that way.

    •  3 года назад +1

      Was thinking about the strobe lights but figured that would be quite disturbing for the ground crew with those very bright flashes. Was thinking maybe switching the taxi light ON would be better.
      Thanks for confirming not being able to capture the LOC in HDG mode in the TBM 930 being a MSFS issue. I'm no pilot but I have thousands of virtual hours in the 737 online on Vatsim and what you describe is how I'm used to flying an ILS approach as well. That's why I was a bit surprised when I tried the same method in the TBM 930 only to find how that would result in an overshoot rather than turning final onto the LOC

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 года назад +1

      @ It's a shame they released FS2020 in the state it was in. So much stuff needed attention like not being able to use HDG to intercept a LOC with the AP. We normally flash the taxi lights when we're ready to taxi. Strobes would be ok in the day time. At night time I would not suggest strobes in real life to indicate ready to start.

    •  3 года назад

      Yeah, lots of very basic and fundamental stuff not in place at release but I guess they were pushed internally as often is the case with these kind of large projects. In all fairness, lots of good and very impressive stuff as well and I'm positive MSFS will be absolutely brilliant in most aspects down the road.
      Thanks again for the answer about the lights. Flashing the taxi lights sounds like a great way doing it but also how it's OK using the strobes during daytime👍

    I am using version 1.17.3.0 of MSFS and cannot get TCAS to work on any of the 1000 or 3000 model garmin systems...I didn't see any mention of TCAS controls in your excellent presentation...but can you tell me how I can get these back...I seem to have lost them when MSFS updated to this version...Knowing of some strange impacts of updates to the MSFS version--I just want to know if I can get the TCAS back or I have to wait for my "Zen" message to float to the top???? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, GJTom

      I wish I had an answer for you, but I do not. The video focused on the major systems and avionics weren't touched except for the flight director control panel. There is an updating coming tomorrow so hold on, who knows what will be fixed or un-fixed with that.

    so TBM has no panel lights for night flying, only backlit?

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  3 года назад

      That appears to be the case. It does have dome lights but the button near them to turn them on says INOP when hovered over. You can press the L key and use the flashlight function.

    Does the vnav works on the default tbm930 ?

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  2 года назад

      No but I wish it did. There is a G3000 add on by Working Title if you’re using MSFS on PC. That mood increases functionality of the avionics and I think it may have VNAV but I’m not 100% sure of that.

    Getting upgraded avionics on the TBM triggered me to get back into her seat and to refresh my skills with your video. Still very helpful and not 2 hours that i dont have. ¡Gracias! 💙

      You mean someone would make a 2 hour long RUclips video that could be summed up in 30 minutes? There is a new video covering the TBM on an ILS approach with the use of VNAV.

    What about VNAV? Does it work? If so, how to I know the TOD?

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad  2 года назад

      As far as I know VNAV does not work in the TBM. The only thing that has great VNAV is the CJ4 Working Title mod if you’re on PC and I believe the Garmin NXi now has working VNAV.

    Great video. I need another video on the flight director though. I love this plane. One step down from a jet.

      Almost as fast as a slow jet but has the ability to fly as slow as a 172. Very versatile. The AP and FD is covered at the end but I do have a more in depth video on the Flight Director on my CJ4 AP video. It may look a little different but it’s all the same for the most part.
