Thanks for the kind words! I'm currently working on my Cleric Deepdive video as we speak. Let me know which class you'd like to see covered after that.
I was watching and thinking, " Man, this guy is good. I should subscribe." I went to your channel and realized I've already watched all your vids and was already subscribed. 😂😂😂❤❤❤
This was very thorough. Ive been having a blast in BG3 but being new to DnD, there is so much i dont know/ understand. I appreciate this deep dive very much!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I am currently working on a Cleric Deepdive video, and will likely cover all of the classes. It was a lot of fun learning all of this stuff and putting it together.
These deep dive videos are outstanding. The only drawback is that I keep wanting to start games with new builds. Never thought I would play a cleric until watching your video on them, but now I know it will be my next class.
I really like the change in style/editing you've made between this and the cleric video. This video is good, but it feels like you really quickly found your feet with the cleric vid. Also, I, too, am a sucker for Gale. That hair, that accent, that wit and charm 😍
Felt like adding something on Transmuter, if you do the 10 ft. of movement one, and you're willing to do this, everyone in your party benefits from the extra movement, it's free to give the stone to each party member, even during combat they gain it's effect INSTANTLY
The damn Transmutation school should have the ability to manipulate the battlefield by turning one substance into another. Instead they turn into a bird. That's basically worse Gaseous Form. That's a Newbie Druid's shortcut ability. Where's Petrification on Touch, or something that makes buffs on allies give an additional benefit, or "Trash to Treasure" that turns all those cups and rotting vegetables into gold or some shit? Transmuters got robbed.
Just getting into BG3, but always was a D&D fanatic. Prior knowledge, coupled with this guide, made the transition into being a BG3 Wizard a breeze! Thanks man!
Oh yeh, you can get up to some ridiculous antics with 2 blasters like that. I'm messing around with a Lore Bard/Divination Wizard build right now and it's been pretty nuts. Gotta have the Int headband, but it's a small price to pay.
I'm glad someone else appreciated Gale's wit. That is why I multi-classed him with a lore bard! He loves telling stories and knows a ton of history. 6 Lore Bard / 6 Divination I imagine he is writing the story as we go and erasing and changing things to make it better.
I honestly believe Abjuration Wizards might be the tankiest characters in the game. If they aren't, they're easily top 3 or 4. Bear Barbarians do get some pretty silly damage resistance...
I completed my first ever 5th edition campaign about 4 years ago. Abjuration Wizard is my literal go-to. I love the Ward, I will stand by the Ward, and I will protect all of you with this ward. And I have Globe of Invulnerability. Ask me anything if anyone's interested in the Abjuration Subclass, or any of them to be honest. I love Wizard
One quick thing: the Savant subclass features are *absolutely* relevant depending on circumstance because it can save you a decent chunk of gold. If you amass scrolls over time and learn them en masse, you can respec with Withers to whatever sublass, then learn a bunch of those spells from scrolls, benefit from the discount, respec to the next subclass, learn all those spells, yada yada yada. Basically if the value of the Savant feature would save you more than the 100g it would to talk to Withers per subclass its worth it.
Yeh it definitely adds up if you're willing to do the respec for the discount, you're right about that. I was very lazy about doing that during my playthrough, so my thoughts on that are tainted with laziness lol. Edit: this is also especially true, since you can just steal your money back from Withers and he doesn't care at all.
Depending on your party setup, using a party member's Action to make it rain can be the highest damage option. If you have a Storm Sorc or a Tempest Cleric, they can nuke the entire field in one or 2 turns if everyone is Wet.
Man, I remember back in the AD&D 2nd ed days when choosing a school to specialize in, meant being banned from taking any spells in 2 other schools that were in "opposition" to your chosen school. Because of thise, you werw not required to specialize
I think that's a cool idea if it's done properly. It makes sense lorewise that going to one extreme of the magical spectrum might lock you out of the others. I can also see how that would be super annoying in bg3 haha. So I'm also glad it isn't like that.
@PanicRolling then you have to be a Human, and you have to give up all enchantments and conjurations. (Only Humans, Elves, and Half Elves can be Wizards, and only Humans can be Evokers!) P.s. Gnomes could be Illusionists, though. Only exception for mages being neither Han nor Elven.
6 Lore Bard/ 6 Div Wizard for Portent Dice that replenish on Short Rest, Cutting Words, and also the Halfling bonus if you want it (I think half elves are the best race in the game because they have the most powerful racial ability of them all...attractiveness.)
@PanicRolling they do indeed! If you look up the ethnic identity of any of the most beautiful women in irl, most are a big mix of this and that. Being a mutual truly is powerful. (Not that I spend much time doing that, but back in the day, Maxim Magazine would often list off for the people they featured)
I can respect that. I'm similar with my spell choices not being always damage heavy, but for Abjuration spells. I like being defensive and spell negation
The problem I have with spell casting classes is that they recover spell slots only on LONG Rests, exception of Warlocks.. it's quite hard for me to hold back "wasting" a Magic Missile on a HP 6 Goblin, cos I can't get back it so easily..and I end up mostly just using Cantrips.. firebolt or Ray of frost..mostly If only Magic Missile or Chromatic Orbs is Cantrips
The spell slots are definitely scarce for a while. Eventually you'll find some gear pieces and elixirs that grant extra spell slots, versions of spells that don't cost spell slots, or an Arcane Battery ability. This is a toggleable skill that makes your next spell cast of any level not cost a spell slot. I know it's annoying to get used to, but I also highly recommend Long Resting after pretty much every major fight. Often it'll trigger story-based cutscenes, anyway. Scrolls are also great for this reason. I completely understand what you mean, though.
Wizard has been my favorite class since I started playing in 1977, and they have always taken some time to get up to power. Thank goodness for cantrips.
@@PanicRolling which is why thankfully for respec, one can play as a Fighter or Cleric for the first 5 lvls or Ranged Rogue/Ranger, until lvl 5 char lvl, before respec to Wizard, when you get fireball or Lightning Bolt, and retain all the scrolls you pick up and scribe them all at once, so you can know what scrolls you have and Not select those spells when you lvl up since you can add them via scrolls. I would say the first 5 lvls of gameplay is the hardest for me.. the extra attacks and lvl 3 spells makes it easier.. I literally fireballed and lighting bolted the Githyanki patrol.. in 1 shot when I reach them at lvl 5..
Yep, 5th level is when the mid-game power level spikes up a bit. Then you get big buffs from gear and story items also. It amazes me how dense a character level can feel when a +1 attack roll buff is a big deal. You get a new ability or spell and it just casually doubles your character's lethality. Excellent.
Oh wow you can make an enemy miss! Impressive, your cantrips always hurt a little bit! Me? O nothing, I just sometimes take 0 damages from dragons breaths... concentration? Not that much of an issue lol
@joselocombi6127 Felt like adding something fucking HILARIOUS to this. If you take the illithid power "Transfer Health," normally there's no way to resist the Pure Damage you take from it, the Ward doesn't care! And still negates some of the damage, while still providing the FULL value of half your health, making the Abjurer a hypothetical healer
“Guys I’ve been working on this spell for days now. I’m finally level ten let me show you!”
*turns into a fucking bird*
Yeh the first time I saw that was the 10th level ability, I was like...I have to be missing something here. It's pretty disappointing lol.
That's essentially all it did in 5e, polymorph into a low-level creature
please make more class deepdives, i really liked how you explained things it kept me engaged. good shit

Every time I see myself in the mirror, I have a similar reaction.
It ain't easy being this damn cheesy.

Hey, having too many build ideas is a great problem to have. Let me know if you come up with anything crazy.
Over 1,000 hours played; 9 "main" characters; still in act 2.
No, I don't have a character problem
Great content dude, hope you can make this a series to deep dive on all classes !
That's absolutely my intention! Thanks for the kind words.

Hey, thanks! I've been learning everything I can to make each video better than the last. I might make one worth watching one of these days!
@@PanicRolling I fully relate to self depreciating humor, but I hope you know that all your videos rock!
I appreciate it! I've learned a bunch since I started doing this.

Awesome explanations - thank you for the huge effort you made to put this together
You're very welcome! Thank you for the early morning ego boost.
Picking up a slight crush on Gale 😂
It's the hair.
Gale is like Garrus, it's not gay to crush on him
@@dr.calibrations7984yes it is
Tbf Gale does have god tier rizz.

Always loved dirt to mud… the enemies sink to their knees and the next round reverse it and they are all stuck. Totally robbed.
These in depth guides are sooo awesome!
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying them so far. I'm going to have the Monk video up as soon as possible, so definitely keep an eye out for it.

Happy to help 😁 Enjoy your first playthrough also!
Thank you for breaking the classes down makes it easy to learn the basics of BG3
Sure thing! I've learned a ton of stuff during the process, too.
Gale is always in my party. I've always kept him in Evocation school. My highest character is a Sorc and the two of them decimate enemies!
Oh yeh, you can get up to some ridiculous antics with 2 blasters like that.

Do yourself a favor and make him a Barbarian on one run. His Rage roar is amazing.
These guides are amazing. Keep on the good work. Keep grinding
Appreciate it! I'm finishing up the next one right now!
This is fantastic, thank you!
Thank you, kind citizen. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
It’s a crime how badly the interface communicates the perks of abjuration school. Abjuration is bloody awesome! 🛡️

My character is a conjurer with 19+1 int from that swamp witch. I'm currently at Level 5 and hat no idea how useful that water is 😯

I'm tempted to make a halfling divination wizard with the lucky perk and make the game go how ever I want it to lmao
Critical Miss? Wtf is that?
Playing Drow Way of Open Hand Monk
Can't wait for the Monk vid
I'm working on that one right now, haha! The Monk is another class I think people avoid because they don't know what they're getting into.
Divination ftw
Changing fate can be a powerful tool.
