Loved my tempest cleric + storm sorcerer playthrough. Much like Miley Cyrus, that combo 'Can't be tamed'! Thanks for the vid, now to make a new sorcerer and twin some hastes and fireballs!
Great guide! At around the 15-minute mark, where you show that Withers does not care if you steal from him, I just wish the devs made it so you absolutely cannot steal from him on Honour mode at least. I feel it takes the fun out of the game if you're on Honour and you know you can have infinite resurrects like that, and of course, infinite respecs.
I felt the same way for a bit, until I came within about 2 milliseconds of losing my run at the end of Act 2... Then I gave up the Honour part and decided this is a fight for my life. Because I'm bad. Hehehehe
In the silent library, tactic I use is to ungroup, spread the out aroudn the entrance, and then send on one person, range attack and then run out. Now you will have to deal with xtra spawn from the middle orb, BUT you funnel them in through the choke point of the entrance, and well. have fun kids. FIREBALL! or my favorite. HUNGER OF HADAR!!!!! This way you fight all of these fighter type mobs out where you can cast spells, and it really is like shooting fish in a barrel.
my 1st Tav was a draconic sorc. I did some respecs testing out stuff always as a pure draconic sorc without ilithid powers. Mostly when I got new equipment or level up that gave ideas. Anyways, at the point draconic sorcs get the bonus elemental damage I stuck yo fire with heat gear. Only used fireball from markoheshkir as scorching ray upcast was giving more heat convergence. I was doing balanced difficulty and, for that, this was very strong
I am going to attempt honour mode v2 (less pressure now I have done it) using only full casters, so it's nice to get good breakdowns on here of some I haven't used.
i use tempest cleric with storm sorc on shadowheart, with the legendary trident and gloves that switch places with opponents upon throw. upon lightning damage, the trident gets infused, i throw it, it creates a thunder explosion then i switch places with the hit target. very fun
+ Early game you can find a staff that allows you to cast create water once per short rest. It's extremely useful in Act 1 because you get to save spell slots
@@QRM00 Is even more useful to give it to a party member, espacially if it has higher initiative. This way they can cast it on enemies to make them wet before your Cleric.
Imo it's better to trade 2 sorcerer levels for 2 magician levels. You can aoe without hurting your teammates and you can learn the 6th level spell chain lightning with a scroll. You get 17 int with the ogre's item.
Sounds like a great plan to me. I love Wizard dips, to unlock the limitless utility of being able to learn every single scroll you pick up forever...it's literally absurd.
I started 12 Sorc in my first ever playthrough. I added 2 Evo wizard levels for reasons already mentioned. It has by now (d)evolved into a Rogue1/Warlock2/Sorcerer6/Wizard1/Cleric2 monstrosity. It's still the best pure caster build I've ever played, though.
You can create sorcery points by using the extra spell slots from elixirs of arcane cultivation and the quickend spell works on scrolls. By collecting elixirs and chain lightning scrolls you can get so overpowered in act three.
Hey dude, love ur vids, I will say tho that I think fly at lvl 11 for draconic bloodline is actually pretty good, the only thing making it not so great is the fly ability from the astral tadpole which some players like myself don’t want to take as it makes your character look ugly, I got the draconic fly on my dark urge and it felt really good
I appreciate it! Gaining the ability to fly is awesome, for sure! But compared to some of the other 10th and 11th level bonuses in this game, it's definitely on the more disappointing side. Trust me though, I'll never complain about extra mobility. I just wish it weren't so easy to get Flight from other sources. At much earlier levels for some of them.
@@PanicRolling totally fair, I think it’d feel a lot more strong (and would be) if illithd fly wasn’t as easy to get or wasn’t in the game so I get what ur saying, ty for responding 🙂
Yeh 100% if you couldn't get it so easily from the tadpoles, it would be amazing. Or if the tadpole option had harsher consequences... As it stands, it's basically just free upgrades with no downside besides looking ugly.
One of my favorite characters I ever played was a half-red dragon fighter-sorcerer-spell sword with Arcane Strike. I would go around sacking 6th lvl spell slots for +6/+6d4 to all my melee attacks for the round (including opportunity attacks). She was a bit light on HP, but oh boy, did she pack a punch. You did not want to be in melee range of her great sword. I am going to recreate her in BG3 as a Red Dragonborn Sorcadin of Vengeance.
@@PanicRolling yea, she was fun to play. She was the melee equivalent of a glass cannon, tons of melee damage. But light on HP. And chaotically charging in head first into any battle.
I have tweaked the Meta Magic here and there for certain fights. Convert all Spell Slots 1-4 into Sorc Points, then refilling them all into Level 5 Spell slots which is the highest you can refill. Yes, you will only end up with only 5 total level 5 Spell Slots, and 1 Level 6 (which you can squeeze 2 out of with Markoheshkir Staff), but when you need to absolutely nuke something quick and just long rest after, it works great.
Extended Spell is consistently underrated among Dorc( obviously Sorc, but ill leave that typing blunder in cause we're all Sorc Dorcs) users. Early game, extended blade ward will last you 4 turns, at which pointost fights should be over. Great especially if you can precast it before engaging, even greater throughout the game if you are multiclassed into a thief spellsword build as a great deal of your damage comes from the left hand anyway. Late game , extended Globe of Invul ( even from a scroll ) for 6 turns is a literal game winner by itself. Nothing you get at that point from distant or careful will beat that.
Those are great examples. Just be careful not to put your whole party under that Globe in certain fights... Some of the late-game encounters have a knack for knocking you Prone and instantly dropping your Globe, leaving your nicely grouped party open to some aoe damage. (Look to Wolfheart's Honour Mode video for a good example of this almost ending his run.) But if you do it strategically and intelligently (impossible for me), you're absolutely right...6 turns of Globe is OP as hell.
I know, but I had Minthara as a pal9/warlock 3 healing build with a 22 charisma (+6 saving throws to everyone close with Aura of Protection) and my Sorc had advantage on all saving throws except Str and Cha when I first tried the method, so unless the prone wad scripted, I wasn't worried. Man, I was watching Wolf live, yelling to my screen "Don't walk into that fkin cloud!". That was funny, unless you're Wolf...
Sorcerer is good/busted in Bg3 since long rest are not a problem and you could almost long rest after each fight then you can talk with Wither to change your spell like a cleric can do. But if you try to "respect the spirit of the game" and long rest only after a dungeon and never respect using wither, you will realize that a sorcerer limited sorcerer point pool is it's biggest weakness and won't last long. Compare to a wizard who can apply his "metamagic" on all his "favorite" spells. AS you said a sorcerer casting fireball can careful cast it and his allies will take only half damage since they automatically succeed on the saving throw. it cost 1 sorcerer poin to do so. so a Sorcerer level 12 can do it on 12 spells per long rest. An Evoker wizard has Sculpt spell, which automatically allows his allies to succeed on their saving throw and if the spell deal damage take 0 damage (so much stronger then careful spell) how many time per day should the wizard be able to use such a powerful feature? as many time as he want obviously. why should he be limited int he number of time per day he can use such a feature? wouldn't make sense to limit him. Oh and let's not forget that sorcerer need to use those SAME sorcerer point in order to recover spell, while the wizard can just recover his spell for free. And if you do the math, for the sorcerer to recover as many spell as the wizard can, he need to use almost all his sorcerer points. SO not only can the wizard use his "metamagic" feature at will without limitation, he can also cast more spell per day then the sorcerer. So yes in a world where you long rest whenever you want, Sorcerer is quite stronger then the wizard. But if you respect the spirit of the game and have a limited amount of long rest, the wizard become a fair bit stronger
This is not about the Sorc but if you like Tempest cleric another good option is 2 levels of Paladin. With the thunder smites that you can guarentee a crit from with Illithid power and then you can follow up with a divine smite on crit. Insane damage with a meele attack. Not only that you still have all the utility of the cleric with good thunder and Lightning spells that you can use destructive wrath on.
Scarlet witch uses chaos magic. Ileana rasputan, collosses's sister (aka magic) is born with the natural abillaty to minipulate magical energies. Thats why she is called magic.
Storm Sorc is so busted after you get that one Legendary Staff in Act 3. Upcast Create Water then twinned Chain Lighting wipe almost every enemies from whole room. And I just almost one-shot Last Boss in Honour Mode with 6th upcast Chromatic Orb Crit.
I made a Strength 💪 Ice ❄️ White 🤍 Draconic 🐲 Sorcerer 🧙♂️ Grey Half-Orc named Qanok with 16 Strength, 10, Dexterity, 14 Constitution, 8 Intelligence, 8 Wisdom, & 17 Charisma. Also does The Elemental Feat stack with Dragonic Elemental?
Do the final situation he talked about but this time have someone get those enemies wet first making all the enemies vulnerable (double damage) to lightning damage…
Good video, but no one should be discouraged from Draconic bloodline just because Storm gets fly at lvl 1 vs 11. Storm is great, don’t get me wrong, but the draconic damage modifier can be HUGE. Charisma is easy to get to 20 and 22, and can even reach 24, so you are adding 5-7 damage to each attack. A spell like Scorching Ray (fire bloodlines, ofc) applies this to every single ray, so it’s 5-7 damage added 3-7 times! Constant ability to fly at 11 does let you use it in more situations than Storm, and without spending a spell slot that you might want to keep in reserve. You don’t get the opportunity attack resistance, and flight is probably more likely to save your life early game when you have bad hp/defenses, but in my experience you are lvl 11+ for most of act 3 anyway and it’s plenty useful to fly on command! If you don’t mind re speccing, storm from 1-5 and then draconic at 6 (when draconic damage modifier comes online) is a fun progression if you want to turn your sorcerer from a useful all rounder to a damage power house Edit: Illithid flight is great, but Act 3 is when you can get your Dragon Sorc’s charisma up past 20, so even a half-illithid Dragon Sorc is still going to feel like a strong sub class
Oh for sure, Draconic Bloodline as a whole is incredible. And getting flight is always great. It just doesn't feel great as the only real lvl 11 bonus they get. Especially if you've gone down the tadpoles route... because you might already have flight from that plot thread. But I love the subclass, and you're right about that extra damage being huge!
@@PanicRolling That’s fair, I probably underestimate how many people opt for the evolved powers. By the way, just noticed this is your first ever series of videos. I can tell these took a lot of effort, especially editing, it’s really impressive!
Sorcerer are really simple in BG3: 3 feat: ASI +2 Charisma, ASI +2 Charisma and Dual weilding Reason: as a sorcerer your spell is the only thing you got, you are not that great at going into melee or shooting a bow, you got your spell, and your spell, with a few spell to compliment your spellcasting ability. SO you want to pump those spell as much as possible. Casting Fireball sure it cause a little bit of damage, but your martial will kill those BBEG way faster then your puny fireball. Cast hold person (or hold monster) instead prevent those enemies from moving and watch your martial critical hitting them to death. But in order for your hold person to work you need to have the highest spell DC as possible. Now why dual wielding? I just said that as a sorcerer the only thing that matter is your spell, why not get +2 constitution or warcaster to protect your concentration? Here why: MAGIC WEAPON. This game got awesome, really powerful magic staff: Markoheshkir and the Staff od Power. BOth give you +1 DC and both give you a FREE SPELL SLOT. You know those all powerful level 6 spell that are so powerful the game let you just cast 1 per long rest? how about casting 3 of them per long rest? But for that you need to dual weild the staff and in order to equip 2 quaterstaff you need dual weilder. Then for your spell selection: Aoe Spell damage is good to kill a lot of tiny minion. FIreball that bunch of rat in Act 3 and voila the fight is over in a single round easy peasy, but was that rat fight really that difficult to begin with? I mean I equip my ranger with fire arrow and killed as many rats by burning all that firewine spilled all over the ground. But when it come time to kill those difficult single target fight (hoping they do not have legendary resistance) casting hold monster and giving your martial free critical hit is way more effective then casting disintegrate for example (even if you twin it) If the target does have legendary resistance casting buffing spell like twin greater invisibility or twin haste on the appropriate martial character will result is way better damage boost then a single casting of a spell. (of course few thing will outdamage disintegrate follow by a quicken disintegrate on single target but this assume you also have those special staff (or illithid ability) to freecast some spells So yes grab fireball, grab disintegrate, but your level 1 selection should be shield and SLEEP not magic missile. The ability to put to sleep enemies, meaning they will not attack and your allies get free critical hit, at level 1 is basically instant kill against most target. But yes once you reach level 5 replace sleep with fireball, sleep won't have a meaning full effect past that
@@PanicRolling because I’m kind of dumb and didn’t read my abilities. I had no idea why it was doing so much more damage and causing AOE shit to happen I figured it was something in subclass now I know the answer lol
In my game ice knife CANNOT be twined. Probably patch related , i don't know, but everytime i use the twined spell option the ice knife spell is among those that are greyed out (my spell slots are all full) Cya mate
They just recently changed this, actually. It also removed Chain Lightning from the list of spells that can be Twinned. Storm Sorcs took a big hit that day.
@@PanicRolling It makes sense if you ask me. You might want to check it for the fireball spell too, as they may have changed it for every AOE spell. Keep it up bro. Beside the fart stuff i really liked your video. CYA
Baldurs gate buffed it. Normally you arent supposed to be casting 2 leveled spells in 1 turn. Also twinned spell is getting nerfed in the new rules. But yeah the way it is in baldurs gate 3 is busted.
The most broken thing is that you only need 3 levels of Sorc. Multiclassed into another full caster like Abjuration wizard, with the spell slot restoration amulets and Arcane recovery, you get more Sorc points than a base 12 level Sorc.
No that's not normal lol. You can get items that will allow you extra spell casts per day, but other than those...I don't know how you'd end up with 4 level 6 spell slots
@PanicRolling making them with scorcer points sacrificing 1-3 level (all 4 of the 1-3 spell slots) to make them if I need a new 6 level spell slot. It kill scorcer points but worth it.
Funnily enough, I have chosen to play wild magic for my first honor run. I'm half way through act 2 right now and the surges have been mostly beneficial to me. Especially that one time, when I buffed my team armed with blunt weapons with guaranteed hit and crit on the next attack during the grym fight and killed him in 2 turns. But I also almost lost the run at level 3, when I have used a false life scroll for the lols and sprouted thorns all around my half dead party, panicked and started to run out instead of jumping out-.-

Hehehehe
@@PanicRolling absolutely fair point!
I just got to lvl 5 as Sorc and I’m gonna multiclass paladin it just feels right in honor mode
Instant sub dude you’re so underrated
Much appreciated!
Finally my favourite class! Great job once again
I dont have anything to add, but i love you, Panic!
my 1st Tav was a draconic sorc. I was doing balanced difficulty and, for that, this was very strong
really helpful video for storm sorcerer builds 🙏 thanks
Just know that Chain Lightning can no longer be Twin Cast as of yesterday. Still powerful, just not as much so.
I am going to attempt honour mode v2 (less pressure now I have done it) using only full casters, so it's nice to get good breakdowns on here of some I haven't used.
Sounds like a fun run to me!
i use tempest cleric with storm sorc on shadowheart, with the legendary trident and gloves that switch places with opponents upon throw. upon lightning damage, the trident gets infused, i throw it, it creates a thunder explosion then i switch places with the hit target. very fun
Wow I love that idea... awesome combo of synergies!
Create water/water bottle (enemies take double lightning damage when wet), destructive wrath, twinned chain lightning. That is the goal.
You are amazing. Keep posting.
You can create sorcery points by using the extra spell slots from elixirs of arcane cultivation and the quickend spell works on scrolls. By collecting elixirs and chain lightning scrolls you can get so overpowered in act three.
Something that bumps Ice Knife up for me is you can cast it while silenced
Can't argue with baked-in utility.
A cool side effect of picking Storm Sorcery is that Bury The Light becomes your main battle theme.
And also you are able to easily bury every single enemy you meet. It's like fate.
great vid and a fun watch while youre making your tav 👍
Hell yeh! That build sounds awesome
@@PanicRolling yea, she was fun to play. She was the melee equivalent of a glass cannon, tons of melee damage. But light on HP. And chaotically charging in head first into any battle.
I love the character design‼️
I swear most people be building boring looking character it's horrendous 😂.
Transmog is life, friend. Making your character look better increases your dps by at least 10%
(Look to Wolfheart's Honour Mode video for a good example of this almost ending his run.)
But if you do it strategically and intelligently (impossible for me), you're absolutely right...6 turns of Globe is OP as hell.
Hell yeh, that sounds like Thor dropping the hammer on em!
Great guide
Thanks! Great comment!
You got another sub, ginger daddy :*
I never tried to pickpocket withers I didn’t know you could do that 😂
He's like a piggy bank, just waiting to be looted
"Raw talent... Sorcerers are better than you." -- So, what you're telling us is Sorcerer's are the LaBron James' of DnD
Missed opportunity on using "saucy storm sorcery sorcerizer"
🤣
I made a Strength 💪 Ice ❄️ White 🤍 Draconic 🐲 Sorcerer 🧙♂️ Grey Half-Orc named Qanok with 16 Strength, 10, Dexterity, 14 Constitution, 8 Intelligence, 8 Wisdom, & 17 Charisma. Also does The Elemental Feat stack with Dragonic Elemental?
Too much good info. I need to have 19 play throughs to experience all the damn stuff you have shown me.
Do the final situation he talked about but this time have someone get those enemies wet first making all the enemies vulnerable (double damage) to lightning damage…
Yep, it seriously gets nutty very quickly. Nothing like deleting an entire combat scenario in a single turn.
If you don’t mind re speccing, storm from 1-5 and then draconic at 6 (when draconic damage modifier comes online) is a fun progression if you want to turn your sorcerer from a useful all rounder to a damage power house
Edit: Illithid flight is great, but Act 3 is when you can get your Dragon Sorc’s charisma up past 20, so even a half-illithid Dragon Sorc is still going to feel like a strong sub class
You're accent reminds me of home lol. I grew up around people that have your same accent lol.
Sorcerer are really simple in BG3:
3 feat: ASI +2 Charisma, ASI +2 Charisma and Dual weilding
Reason: as a sorcerer your spell is the only thing you got, you are not that great at going into melee or shooting a bow, you got your spell, and your spell, with a few spell to compliment your spellcasting ability.
Then for your spell selection:
Aoe Spell damage is good to kill a lot of tiny minion. FIreball that bunch of rat in Act 3 and voila the fight is over in a single round easy peasy, but was that rat fight really that difficult to begin with? I mean I equip my ranger with fire arrow and killed as many rats by burning all that firewine spilled all over the ground.
But when it come time to kill those difficult single target fight (hoping they do not have legendary resistance) casting hold monster and giving your martial free critical hit is way more effective then casting disintegrate for example (even if you twin it)
If the target does have legendary resistance casting buffing spell like twin greater invisibility or twin haste on the appropriate martial character will result is way better damage boost then a single casting of a spell. (of course few thing will outdamage disintegrate follow by a quicken disintegrate on single target but this assume you also have those special staff (or illithid ability) to freecast some spells
So yes grab fireball, grab disintegrate, but your level 1 selection should be shield and SLEEP not magic missile. The ability to put to sleep enemies, meaning they will not attack and your allies get free critical hit, at level 1 is basically instant kill against most target. But yes once you reach level 5 replace sleep with fireball, sleep won't have a meaning full effect past that
Found this video extremely helpful! What robe/ hood was your character wearing?
I know sorc rogue goes hard with two bonus actions with quickened spell
Oh god, the Surge soda! I'm old! 😭
Same. I remember getting that stuff from restaurants lmao.
My next playthrough will be an evil wild magic sorcerer
That would fit really well for a Dark Urge run, if you haven't done one of those yet!
I wish i watched your channel when I started playing.
I do too! I've been expecting you.
Cool anime moment, I use shocking grasp with a storm sorcerer. Boom.
Yeh, boom is right.
@@PanicRolling because I’m kind of dumb and didn’t read my abilities. I had no idea why it was doing so much more damage and causing AOE shit to happen I figured it was something in subclass now I know the answer lol
Yep, Storm Sorcs and Tempest Clerics can do some gross things with even basic Thunder and Lightning spells.
@@PanicRolling I know what I must do now thank you the thunder god comes
I now want the option to have feathers for a beard for my wild magic sorc
you are totally great
Thanks! I tell myself this same thing in the mirror every day.
@@PanicRolling but its true, very funny and informative at the same. great
“The cooler wizard” deep dive
But Wizards have the hats, though...
Sorcerers have THE hat, though. You know, the pirate one, Birthright.
Fair enough. That hat is badass.
Agreed, for robe-wearers. For heavy armor users, that thing makes you look like Captain Sparrow in an Iron Maiden.
😘
Hey, thank you very much!
@@PanicRolling i have to thank you
21:43 😂 accurate
If they ever patch Withers you're gonna have to go back and update all of these videos...
Ehh, it's a calculated risk.
I kinda wanna do a wild magic sorc in honor mode, I'm a glutton for punishment. I only ever play honor mode
Well you have the perfect attitude for it. Because it's gunna be punishment lol.
@@PanicRolling By the way good video! Just discorved ya and I like the chill vibes
In my game ice knife CANNOT be twined. Probably patch related , i don't know, but everytime i use the twined spell option the ice knife spell is among those that are greyed out (my spell slots are all full)
Cya mate
They just recently changed this, actually. It also removed Chain Lightning from the list of spells that can be Twinned.
Storm Sorcs took a big hit that day.
@@PanicRolling It makes sense if you ask me. You might want to check it for the fireball spell too, as they may have changed it for every AOE spell. Keep it up bro. Beside the fart stuff i really liked your video. CYA
Tried to pickpocket withers with my thief.. never managed even once sleight of hand failed and I can rob anyone else easy 😟
my luck was good before playing and it was good when playing wild magic lol
So you say 2 levels of cleric and the rest sor but in what order? first 2 levels cleric? and rest sor?
Quicken is broken. Not sure why youd use wizard or warlock
It's pretty awesome, isn't it?
@@PanicRolling love it. Completely melting everything with 2x fireballs or chain lightnings
So 4 level 6 spell slots are not normal
No that's not normal lol. You can get items that will allow you extra spell casts per day, but other than those...I don't know how you'd end up with 4 level 6 spell slots
@PanicRolling making them with scorcer points sacrificing 1-3 level (all 4 of the 1-3 spell slots) to make them if I need a new 6 level spell slot. It kill scorcer points but worth it.
10:30 they missed empowered spell
You're wrong so sure can be a million range they're very defensive
I would like to see larian Studios make an MMORPG I think they can do way better than Final Fantasy XIV
Is your honor mode playthrough on video?
I've got some of it, but I ended up losing a ton of the footage in a freak gasoline fight accident.
Guys, multiclass as a tief, trust me, is gonna be fun
To complicated for me
Funnily enough, I have chosen to play wild magic for my first honor run. I'm half way through act 2 right now and the surges have been mostly beneficial to me. Especially that one time, when I buffed my team armed with blunt weapons with guaranteed hit and crit on the next attack during the grym fight and killed him in 2 turns. But I also almost lost the run at level 3, when I have used a false life scroll for the lols and sprouted thorns all around my half dead party, panicked and started to run out instead of jumping out-.-
You're more brave than I am! That's hilarious, also.
