I like to think that this is John saying goodbye to the band and all the fans. He lived through hell early on. I've been through the same exact thing. Addiction takes your very soul. Even the ones who do make it back from hell, only a very few get to redeem themselves the way john did. He did amazing things and made some of the best music in the history of recorded sound when he came back to the band. But he had to follow his heart and say goodbye to the band once again to do his own thing and this time it was for the right reasons. God bless you John, you've always been an inspiration for me and so many others. Thank you for sharing your talent and soul with us.

Chili peppers may have broke up if he'd not joined so im thankful he took on the role and he did produce great music.. not to everyone's tastes but that's to be expected with fans that are used to seeing JF..
