Still cannot fathom how anybody at Gaijin thought it was a good idea to reduce multipathing while people abusing AIM54Cs was still a very real thing. On top of it, adding FOX3s, which is fine... unless you are in a plane which doesn't have them, which is like charging into machine gun fire with a sword.

For real, I don't think we've ever had a more unbalanced and less skill-dependent top tier in WT. Really wish we'd never gone beyond SARH missiles, like there weren't 200 different ways of encouraging BVR gameplay that didn't include adding new, hard to balance weapons...

@@jfv2312I honestly have notched more aim 120s than Phoenix's. I just can't notch them for some reason even though I managed it for many aim120's even at close range but not for the slow Phoenix.

@@Jacksonflax no, it was not, but as I said, it was Gaijin's fault for not giving a shit when they introduced SARH missiles, they will just never work in a ultra crowded, low altitude furball scenario like WT's Air RB, they should've made an actual effort to change the meta.
And not even bothering to properly model monopulse seekers, or adding stuff like the R-27ER with no real competition didn't help either... Now we have the worst of both worlds, BVR in ultra crowded maps and skill-less gameplay fully dependent on the plane's weapons and sensors. Remember this isn't real life or a more detailed simulator, 2 or 3 F-15C with 8 AMRAAMs can practically win the match on their own if their pilots are good enough.
And that's how you explain half the game.

A former RAF Tornado and F-14 pilot was asked about having to fight Tomcat's in the Tornado and his comment was that the Tornado's turn rate was pathetic compared to the F-14 and once the F-14 got past the Tornado's 3/9 line it could never get the advantage back

@gertaro yeah dodging them alone is easy enough, but doing it on top of everything else youre trying to do during a match makes it tough. Then theres the random time youre just not paying attention and get smacked.

Putting a talisman on the f14a back when it came out was the best financial war thunder decision i ever made, best grinder out there because of its gimmicks and matchmaking

1+1 does in fact equal 27 in the F-14A
I spent like a month playing the F-14 in exactly this way. The main issue is there is a bug with the IR signature location of the F-14 that makes all missiles behave as if they have IRCCM. R-60s for example can totally ignore all flares (it probably doesn't help that the F-14 has small flares.) There's a bug open on the tracker about it but I wouldn't hold out hope for a fix.
It's unrelated to engine temperature, you can turn your engines off and it'll be the same
Also F-14 flaps got a big nerf a few patches ago, they only turn on at 700kph now (used to be able to put combat flaps out way above that)

Honestly I don't know what to do against it in the fgr2, I do not like to call things overpowered but I honestly don't know what I can do against it - it outranges the fgr with it's fox 1s, and wins both quick and sustained dogfights against it, the only advantage I think the fgr has is that when the F-14s wings are folded out it doesn't roll as well?

@@dutch24 Played around 10 games, have a kd around 6 and i'm no god tier jet pilot. It sees a lot of downtiers and the radar works surprisingly well at low alt or look down shots.

For me, it's very simple:
16v16, multipathing = yes
12v12 or less, multipathing = no
Besides, we need variable multipathing (I mean in relation to certain regions of the map bcs of 80m or taller trees and an adjustment of the multipathing level different from map to map...)

Just unlocked my 1st Tomcat (and the Phoenixes) and wow that missile launch is slow ... but I love it
The problem with the f 14 is top tier is still too compressed, and if you move it up it'll mainly be facing real fox 3's while dogfighting with ir missles that have no irccm

IMO The issue is, that even if you compare them to one BR higher, they suck already. F16As etc. have no problem with F14As due to weak engines and shit IR missiles (plus Phoenix is weaker at higher BR thanks to better RWRs). So it's kind of hard to balance. They should decompress it more, create 14.0 and put Tomcat Early ver. at 12.7 (or nerf it by one more BR raise) and move current 12.7 to 13.0 etc. (My shit take)
You should play the F4D Skyray, since this patch made wingripping better it's actually an AMAZING plane that's supersonic and turns like an F-16 at a lower BR than the Starfighter.

If gaigin wants to go any further into more modern jets, they need to add a couple more gamemodes. Namely: a small game ONLY game, and a 1v1 game mode. Not asking for too much here
Try the Aj37 (10.7) it has been pretty buffed with ufo flight performance with 340 chaff per pod
My favorite part of the BR changes is that F14B currently might be the most ballanced aircraft in existence, feels liek the fairest matchmakign has ever been in wt.

The only thing I’ve seen that the F14a cannot compete with a dogfight is the Mirage 2000
If it can survive the first or second turn, it should be able to win since the mirage is a delta wing which loses speed quickly

I like to spam 6 54s from sub 30km at match start on smaller maps before using my main loadout of 2 7e2s and 4 more 54s. I like the 7e2s better that the 7fs because i use them from 3-8km in a headon and they are so quick to accel that most people dont have time to do anything about it. This is all pre patch tho.

Hey defyn, you should try the kfir c7 again. I've been bringing a drop tank and full fuel with it and running around the map at mach 1.3+ basically making it nearly impossible to get hit by anything that isn't an r27er (even at 8km high)

I can't agree with Defyn here. F14 definitely is now alot worse than before the BR changes. I get uptiered facing f16, f15 AV8B PLUS, and mig29 almost every match.
The main reason might be that there is basically no 11.7 jet in the lobbies

It's select radar target, should be I think 2nd or 3rd button in the z (or y) action menu and you should be able to figure it out from there

What about the mirage 2000? Is it better at dogfight or worst?
It's a lot stronger in one circle fights due to it's high AoA limit, but being a delta wing, it has below average energy retention, which makes it less ideal for two circle fights.
And watch out for sharp nose pulls for a cheeky magic
But a low fuel mirage can sit on its engine
