This song was bought by a small town guy named Tate. He's not with us anymore but I'm so happy to see this song lives on. GHOSTWRITERS ARE THE UNKNOWN SOLDIERS OF THE ARTS!!!
It always cracks me up how Stone just sits there like yep, Eddy is falling off the stool and now surfing on it, no big deal, I’ll just keep playing. Completely unconcerned. 🤣 He knew him very well!
I watched this whole thing when it came on MTV originally. Pearl Jam has always been more than music. If you listen to their words every song is a message for the world. Maybe some day the world will start listening.
Me too!!! I remember watching it as a 13-year-old utterly transfixed. Also, first time seeing any unplugged performance. I recorded it on VHS at the time and rewatched 100s of times. There's a reason they are my favourite band!
Hahahaha your reaction is amazing, love it. I will never forget when my daughter saw Pearl Jam for the first time, she thought Eddie was having a seizure. It took her a long time to watch a video of theirs again. I tried explaining nah nah it's just him dancing and being Eddie. Love Pearl Jam so much. They are so much better live.
Seattle man. Listening to your words, you get it. All those bands from that era and that region were like that. Its why they're great. I have so many nostalgic memories growing up as a child of the 90s during a time when this music ruled the world
I remember the reaction I had when I saw this for the first time. Nothing like that moment when you realize you’ve just discovered your favorite band. ❤️ PJ Forever
EXACTLY... ART!!!! seeing them live creates the same loss for words you had at the end of this video. "a message they want to put out to the world". you totally get them!!! they do put 150% of themselves into their music and 30 years later they are still doing that. i wasn't the die hard fan until i saw them live and that true, honest connection...transfer of energy...make the concerts not just a "show" but a visceral, communal experience. they connect to my heart
Your reaction are 100% the best on RUclips!! Life long Pearl jam fan. Love to see what I must of looked like first listening to their music! Thank you!!!
They would love the art reference. When they won a grammy for the video for Jeremy... they said how can you award art. How can you compare to have one be judged better than the other. The live version of Porch at Pinkpop festival '92 is epic by the way. He fell off the stool, as his body is part of his expression... he has got to move. In the MTV awards they were told to keep it low key for the unplugged...(also not swear) but its a bit like caging lions lol...he/they can't help themselves. Ive seen them live a number of times and their energy feeds the crowd and vice versa. If you ever get the chance to see them (they are all still together, tho different drummer) even tho they are in their 50's now its still the same. They really are masters at what they do and them doing it live is the best.
EdVed is crazy, he crowd surfs and at pink pop he was hanging from the rafters and it was raining. I saw an interview where apologized to his band mates for scaring them all the time. That man has always lived his best life! I’m so glad you’ve opened the Pearl Jam flood gates!! Here are more faves of mine (and I’ve been a fan since they first came out and I was in 8th grade): Immortality, Garden, Yellow Ledbetter, Jeremy... I could go on for days.
And they're still such a great band. I've had the honor of watching them live a year or so ago. They still rock BIG TIME and Eddy hasn't lost any of his charisma (or his fab voice!)!
Now that you did this version, you have to react to Porch live at Pinkpop 1992. The craziest performance of this song out there. You will definetely love that version!🤘🤘
And this is the "unplugged" version. In concert they're beasts. As someone said below, Eddie used to climb the scaffold and teeter on the ledges - he used to make security staff really nervous at the venues. Go read about them taking on Ticketmaster back in the day over their fees. Eddie is especially legendary over his political stances, protection of the environment, etc. Been a fan since the Ten album and will be one for life.
On this show Eddie had a bad cold 😮😀if you can believe it. The MTV Unplugged in the 90’s (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains,STP) that was real music by real artists who could sing, write their music and play their own instruments.
More live Pearl Jam; never can go wrong with that. One of the best bands ever. Alive, Even Flow, Jeremy, State of Love and Trust, Rearviewmirror.....👌🏽
Your reaction was similar to mine when I watched this live on MTV back in the day- like "What did my eyes just see and my ears just hear?" I love Pearl Jam always have, always will. They represent the refreshing authenticity of Generation X in all its glorious raw and honest rebellion and turned it into an art form. F* yeah!
Awww Alex this wasn't nothing but Eddie being Eddie!! You should react to a live concert then you can freak out!! He runs jumps off anything he can I love pearl jam and the fact he's the last one left out of the grunge era imma send him some bubble wrap lol
YOU really need to SEE some of the live concert footage from the 1990's ! Eddie climbs all over the lighting on stage, jumps into the crowd, and they always sound freaking amazing ❤️ !!! Check it out, we will love seeing it !!
Eddie was infamous for climbing the stage rigging and then hanging during concerts. There were a couple times his bandmates thought he was going to fall. Watch the official video of Evenflow and you can see an example of this. Pearl Jam's TEN album was the best freshman album ever, IMO. They had never recorded an album together before that.
I'm a little surprised at myself. As a man in his early 40s it would be easy to assume that I would have no interest in watching reaction videos. I have been watching many lately and it has me wondering what I find so enthralling about them. I eventually realized that watching someone experience something that I did so many years ago makes me remember my first reaction in a way that can only happen through shared experiences. So I guess my message to all of you young men and wemon out there is to keep it up! There is a wealth of good art and sport out there to be explored and appreciated! And thank you for taking us older folks back too.
Pearl Jam is the most important band in my life. "Porch" is always a highlight. Thanks for giving them some love, Alex! All the best from the Netherlands (tiny country near Germany 😉).
Alex im in shock over this one man. Pearl Jam has always been my #1 "Hold my hand, lay beside me I just need to say I could not take not just one day"....
My favorite Pearl Jam song, the fast beat, her powerful voice, I just love it. And this MTv unplugged version couldn't be better, Eddie's lyrics changing is amazing and the instrumental improvisation is absolutely fantastic and makes this song more powerful to listen to. Great song, great band
Glad you used this version. If any Pearl Jam song exists in MTV unplugged, you should go for that one. Next one could be Jeremy. I also recommend you go back and do the unplugged version of Black by them. It's a whole other experience.
Welcome to the crazy, beautiful and wonderful world of Pearl Jam. They've always been more than just music, they literally have songs about everything. I mean EVERYTHING. I feel if more people listened to Pearl Jam, the world would be a better place!
Please check out "State of Love and Trust" from this same unplugged show..It is such an underrated song (in general, not just from Pearl Jam). It's my favourite Pearl Jam track, as much as that means nothing to everyone haha.
Eddy Vedder would do all kinds of crazy stuff while preforming including climbing the light gantry on the stage, scaffolding and tall fences whatever was near by the stage. Very political and outspoken i believe it was ticket Master the band took on also, all kinds of crazy lol

Oh...my dude...you MUST see them live. I've been a fan since day one. Their concerts are like church to all us long-time fans. We are a community. Welcome home brother. ✌️💜🤙
Awesome Reaction. Pearl Jam have always been and still are all about the music! Luv crazy Eddie!!! Even Flow is a good 1 to watch and Eddie's epic stage dives!!
Just subscribed to your channel after seeing you react to Black and Porch.. if you love these two songs this much man, i highly suggest reacting to more live Pearl Jam. You will likely get a crap ton of Pearl Jam fan subscribers like myself.
Pearl Jam will always be the band of my life. The 90´s were the golden years of Grunge. I saw them for the first time in 1996 ! That was the night i meet my wife!! Porch was the last song played that night!!! It was an outstanding night! Thanks PJ for being part of my life!
Great reaction hope you stay on this journey you definitely need to check out their live pinkpop performance in 92 of porch you will not be disappointed
Pearl Jam Unplugged is the most Unplugged is the most wild and Unplugged ever made. Hands down! You must watch Pearl Jam live Porch at Pink Pop 1992. You will lose your mind. The fall from the Stool was no accident. Ed can not contain himself. Rumor is he did very few drugs. Mostly high on himself. Nickname Crazy Ed.
13 first time I watched that unplugged show. Now 41. I still watch it. It still F's me up. Still my favourite band. Still my favourite recording of theirs. Always will be. P.s my son sent me this vid- spreading the pj love to the next generation 💪
Watching this at 15, and seeing Eddie write that on his arm impacted me in such a visceral way! Love to watch people react to this performance!!!! ❤
Porch at Pinkpop 1992 is what you gotta do next for this one

We all get that it’s the same song and shit but THAT version it’s something else👌🏾
A masterpiece performance!!!
I just mentioned that too! Hanging from the rafters while it’s raining. Crazy beautiful man!
👌👌👌👌
Porch is always a major crowd surfing and running all over the stage song for Eddie. So this is the unplugged version of that...

Pearl Jam is the definition of a rock band that consistently delivers. Every time. A live show from them is like no other.

And they're still such a great band. I've had the honor of watching them live a year or so ago. They still rock BIG TIME and Eddy hasn't lost any of his charisma (or his fab voice!)!

Debatable IMO with Nirvana. Nirvana’s Unplugged gives me chills
