2:30 Haha I love when Eddie goes to say Fuck, then stops himself! So good!
how do you know he would say Fuck? hakajaja.
@@kelly-us5ki Look up the lyrics... :D.
I'm really surprised he stopped himself.
seemed a harmless little fuck...
@@MrTibbs90 It was BARELY. it almost came out. That was the head shake.
Eddie is one of the best singers alive for sure, that voice is unbelievable
OOoOoOOOo I’m still alive
He is definitely not one of the best alive. He is pretty good sure but not one of the best
Speaking of Alive that’s the next song you should do Alex. Also look into the meaning of this song it’s extremely interesting. Idk if i speak for many people or none but I like when you research songs before or after!
I guess if you like that style.
Mason Huepper yeah I agree he should do more research for the songs especially for grunge songs because 50 percent of grunge songs is about meaning
That line, “Jeremy spoke in class today” is just too much for me. It makes me sob every time. I’ve been suicidal, and the thought that suicide is the only way someone can ‘speak’ and be heard kills me. It’s not even my pain anymore, but I still feel every bit of it.
Me too. This one hits deep!
Eddie live is totally a full body experience. And his voice is so iconic
This song is about a boy who shot himself infront of his class in the early 90s (if you didn't look into who Jeremy was)
For those who don't know: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richardson_High_School#Jeremy_Delle_suicide
For reference:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richardson_High_School#Jeremy_Delle_suicide
Yep here in TX
yeah man.. Alex don't be afraid to do the uncensored official video too.. the same song will hit you a totally different way with video context.. damn i love Eddie's voice
and also they recently released the extended version of the video and it is nuts!
MTV banned the video.. I remember that
Anytime I hear this song I am instantaneously haunted by the tragedy that this song is about.
Its beyond heartbreaking
Same, it also makes me think of how many other school age children have committed suicide since then. A real crisis
Absolutely haunting. One of the greatest of all time.but so devastating.
I'm not
@@hiems9523 cool wanna cookie bud?
"Daddy didn't give affection/And the boy was something that Mommy wouldn't wear." Some of the most powerful lyrics I've ever heard.
Which is a flat out lie. The real Jeremy was loved by his family, he killed himself because of bullying at school.
@@gabolujan I didn't say he wasn't. I said the lyrics were powerful. Plus, the song is based on two different stories, not just Jeremy Delle. The other student was named Brian and Eddie Vedder actually knew him.
You should listen to some Rebecca black. Her lyrics with hit your soul. Wow
@Kody Stutzman It usually take 10-15 working days to be fully cured but you seem strong and wise so possible 47 minutes and you will be saved.
When he says "King Jeremy the wicked" may be my favorite part! The way he sings that part!
Mine is when he sings “lemon yellow sun” for some reason. Maybe it’s because of the contrast with the mass murder in the next lyric.
Mine is "Try to erase this from a black board."
This song is amazing, and Eddie's voice sounds perfect in this, not really a Pearl Jam fan but this has to be one of the best unplugged songs ever recorded
Their entire unplugged session is amazing.
First two albums are stunning
@@terrahawk1977 first five
@@zakrowe1301 They lost me after the first three. From that point forward, it was too much Eddie and not enough Stone in terms of songwriting; the balance shifted IMO.
Great comment. It’s really cool when people aren’t even fans and recognize talent.
This song hit me so hard when it came out due to the abuse and bullying I was going through in my life. When I saw the music video on MTV, it felt like I had been hit in the chest with a hammer, I couldn’t move. It was hard to breathe and I could barely keep myself from crying infront of my friends at the time. This song and band hold a special place in my heart. Thanks you for this reaction, you aare amazing Alex!
Glad you're still here.
@@AT-ey9uu Thank you. I appreciate that a lot.
Aoleon * It’s decades of therapy and medications before even being able to talk about it. It’s good to hear how this song touched so many people and I’m glad it helped you too. Be strong, be safe, much love.
If that’s true I’m glad you’re still living man.
Bullying is so, so terribly wrong! I have never been able to swallow it, sorry to hear you had to deal with it. Hopefully those days are completely gone and you've grown and can now kick all their butts without even moving. Reality, they've grown into nobodies and you have become a somebody. 🎸 Rock on-living 🎼 loving good🎶
I love this unplugged version a lot, and glad you reacted to it... You still need to watch the actual music video though, both versions are amazing, but I still feel the proper verison has a different feel, more emotional!
Definitely my favourite Pearl Jam Song! You should check out "Alive" and "Even Flow'
Especially the music video of "Even Flow" where Eddie is chewing out Josh at the beginning of the video. It's one of my favorite music videos just for that moment alone.
@@MrAgarza49 It’s not a TV show, Josh. Turn out the lights. It’s a rock concert.
You can’t fully appreciate this song until you know the backstory and have seen the music video
Yes ABSOLUTELY true
You gotta react to the actual video dude, it tells a really sad story behind this song
EDIT: aight this is my first time getting this many likes on a comment, I love you all and HAVE A DOPE ASS DAY 💪😤👌❤
My thoughts exactly!!
YES, do another with the official video
The ending tho 😭
It kinda killed me to see how happy he was reacting to this song knowing the heartbreaking tragedy behind it. :/
Right? Despite knowing that he doesn't know what the song was about, it still got to me when he laughed.
He reminds me of Joe Cocker when he sings. The pure emotion in the performance is second to none. There are just some voices that bring me to tears at times and Vedder is among them. Guys like Cornell and Cocker even Weiland could hold a room just with their voices alone.
Yeah dude, you don’t even get the full effect of this song without seeing the original video and knowing what he’s talking about. 🤘🏻
Best description of Eddie’s singing I’ve ever heard. He always gives me chills.
"Just like a bald eagle and Abraham Lincoln....***CLAP***"
I'm done 🤣🤣🤣
This is the sound of my teenage years. Everyone around my age knows this song and Even Flow from Pearl Jam
Alive
Even flow is on every playlist I have, that and revolution is my name by pantera
Ten was the best of their first three albums - really good songs the whole way through
Eddie has such an amazing voice that he sounds exactly like the studio version. No auto tune.
This version is really good but the video with the song is the best way to hear it, imo. Pearl Jam recently uploaded the “Uncensored” version of the video. Gotta react to it also.
Tiffany Coco Channel yeah it’s a shame he chose this first before seeing the video....kinda spoils it for if he ever sees it imo
@@mancbiker17 Yea, the song has more impact with the video.
Steve Hargreaves yeah, but he’ll probably get a claim or strike reacting to that instead of this live version.
The Drummer's wife was my high school economics teacher. That's it. Carry on.
Pretty cool 👍🏾
@@dropbearchupacabra7683 I think he's talking about Dave A.
I miss abruzzese in pj
Check out is collab with Chris, Temple of the Dog, “Hunger Strike”. 90’s is still the best generation of music.
That was a grunge supergroup and facts.
This has to happen.
Was just coming to the comments to write this!
Before Pearl Jam broke out the record companies had them try getting together. Only after both bands made it big and became giants did the record company realize they essentially had a super group
That whole album is one of my all-time favorites. Two of my favorite voices of grunge. Of course I can’t pick a favorite vocalist out of them, Layne, Kurt, and Scott.
This song gives me goosebumps
the first time i ever heard Eddie's voice in the Temple of the Dog's "Hungerstrike" video.. it was just SOOO powerful! still gives me the chills when he comes in after Cornell.
The entire MTV unplugged session is amazing.
Keep the Pearl Jam mtv unplugged going!!! State of love and trust is so good you should react to it next!
DUDE, State of Love and Trust and Alive, MTV UNPLUGGED from them, too!!!!!
Ten and Vs. are MASTERPIECES from front to back.
I'm with the rest of the comments in that you need to do the video. It's weird watching the way your laughing at the tragic lyrics. I get it, vocally it's amazing
You need to react to the music video along with it to really get the meaning behind this song
Exactly, what I was thinking about at the end of his reaction... oh man...
I feel like you missed this entire songs meaning by the way you were joking around and reacting. This is a gut-wrenching, powerful and painful song. Maybe watch the music video. It's based off a true story.
You had me at “what the shit!” You’re going to love this as much as I love watching people react to his vocals. The band, everything is perfection!
The Grunge bands live were just incredible. It was another level
Would like to hear more DEFTONES!!! Go with "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" or "Sextape"
That statement doesn't apply to Nirvana. They were shit live.
@@gabolujan they weren't exactly amazing in the studio either
All right! Back to Pearl Jam and that too more of the unplugged versions of Pearl Jam! Looking forward to more Pearl Jam reactions like this one in the near future either the live version or the studio version! Keep on rocking, bro!🎸🎸🎸
“Alive” from the same Pearl Jam unplugged. Eddie’s true story and the song will leave you blown away !! Try
I heard it for the 1st time when it came out when I was about your age. Im 53. I saw them at Lollapalooza in 1992, Raleigh, N.C.
Dude you HAVE to check the official video. POWERFUL. And Eddie's vocals are flawless on it.
Other Pearl Jam Songs I highly recommend are: State of Love and Trust, Yellow Ledbetter and Sirens.
And if you want to hear Pearl Jam+Soundgarden there was a project called Temple of the Dog (which has a moving background story, tied to how Pearl Jam formed), which features Eddie Vedders first ever professionally recorded appearance on "Hunger Strike".
“Yellow Ledbetter” & “Hunger Strke”-a must! I also think he’d like “Say Hello To Heaven”.
Oh man I can’t hear Yellow Ledbetter, if I do it’s maybe once a year. It’s the song my friends family chose for his funeral. He was a huge Pearl Jam fan.
Rear view mirror
Daniel Rodriguez I am so sorry! My cousin, whom I was very close to, had “Free Bird” played at his and I tear up every time I hear the intro. 😿
MU HelloKitty it tough when those kinds of memories are forever with stuck with certain songs.
I love his voice. A lot of people don't like it for some reason, but I love it.
Was always a fan of MTV Unplugged and this day, this performance, Pearl Jam was the single best performance I ever saw, and there were many good ones but wow Pearl Jam just killed it here on this day. Glad you found this and enjoyed it, anyone that loves music and appreciates talent just must see this!!!
Alex, you should have listened to the lyrics more attentively, this is a really sad and moving song actually!:(
It killed me to see how happy he was listening to it knowing the actual story behind the song :(
@@The98lude I don't think he knew the story behind the lyrics, but the lyrics were suggestive.
I had the same reaction as him when I first heard it, I mean it was years later when I realized what it was about ... I'm more interested in how he's managed to avoid the song this long
Let’s be honest , no one knows what the hell eddie is singing about half the time . Absolute legend but no denying that
I'll never Tell I know what it’s about but I’m saying if you’re a first or even multiple time listener of the song it’s hard to make out what he’s saying .
Thank you for listening to Pearl l Jam dude. You should go check out Nirvana and The Foo Fighters too.
The actual even that inspired this song is beyond heartbreaking id highly recommend watching the music video but thanks for always giving up dope vids alex
This song makes me cry everytime i listen. Great reaction!
Late to the party but EV also had a massive cold and refused to postpone. That’s how amazing they are. And Jeremy in full concert is an experience!!
There’s a few singers from the 90’s that really embodied this whole vibe. Eddie Vedder, Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland......it’s so unfortunate they’re all gone but Eddie. Such an amazing era!
I remember lying on the floor at my girlfriend's house, watching this on MTV when it came out. She was lying next to me, talking crap, singing along and I was chain smoking Benson and hedges... 21 year old me seems so far away...
Not only are they amazing artists and musicians, but the story of Jeremy is heart wrenching. Check out the official video to see what he’s actually talking about. It makes the song that much more powerful. Thanks for your channel Alex! Love it - Have a Dope Ass Day!! 🤗
Jeremy's video on MTV was censored in the part when he says "FUCK" .... that's why Eddie Vedder in the Unplugged that was from MTV didn't say that word in the sentence
"Seemed a harmless little fuck"
The cool thing about Eddie Veder is he knows he can sing but he doesn't really know how well. He simply goes out there and does his best and hopes its good enough. Also strange enough he is a very shy person who never wanted to be a rock star and still to this day doesn't.
I'm with almost everyone else - watch the official video and take in the meaning of the song rather than just Eddie's voice and their playing. Not to take away from any of them, but the song is deeper than you're giving it credit for.
💯💯💯💯
Loved your comment about musicians(or artists) feeling more natural with their instruments in their hands than without them. As a budding musician myself, I am going to try to remember that sentiment and strive to embody that as a musician.
He was also battling a chest infection too when this was recorded. Eddie Vedder and pearl jam are one of the most amazing bands of the 90’s and beyond
It’s weird when someone has never heard of pearl jam. I’m old.
I'm 30 and i feel really old when people are like "oh yeah my parents really like Nirvana/Pearl Jam".
IndieRockerHippy I’m 37 I still feel young, the 90’s had too much power and energy.
I know, but then I feel young when someone is shocked that I know and love the Red Hot Chili Peppers. . , until I explain that Anthony Kiedis is in his late 50s
@@lostinwonderart Yeah a lot of newer fans probably have no idea how long the Chilis are on the go. Thank god Frusciante is back with them. Can't wait to hear new stuff
No older than any of us 😆 Time sticks its hand in everyones pocket stealing all their "round to-its" and "get-ter done" coins. No wonder the dam country is in debt! Back to Pearl jam, Eddies voice speaks memories and screams "I've been there" gotta love that!🎶🎼🌪🎶
Linkin Park: *What I've done*
Its a must!
I remember having a bootleg of this show on cd. Pretty damn good quality too. Mind blowing unplugged performance and so underrated.
This song is in honor of Jeremy. Too much power in this song. Grunge!!!! 🤟🏻
Dude spiritbox realised a new Song called Holy Roller. Please make a reaction it's a must do! Being requested from a subscriber from 150k subs
Please do Porch live from PinkPop it has one of the most epic moments from Eddie ever on it.
Is this, where he jumps into the crowd?
@@shad1990 One of many times he did it but it's the most iconic/well known.
Omg yasssss it’s crazy how much it sounds like the studio version even with all the chaos and mayhem. Dude is a legendary talent.
Do it!
Kenny Pilger alive from that concert is also epic
I named my son Jeremiah, inspired by this song to honor him and as a reminder to always strive to be a great parent.
Pearl Jam was the 1st band that I got into on my own, as in *not* something my friends, parents, sister, anyone else listened to. I was introduced to them by this song (the official vid, not the unplugged) and it was that opening bass line that really got me from the beginning. Jeff Ament is a big part of why I love Pearl Jam still almost 30 years later.
Would love to see your take on a song that pushes 15 minutes...
Periphery - Reptile
Between The Buried And Me - Swim to the Moon
TOOL - 7empest
There is 1 song that's twice that. 30 minute song. Omg!
React to sleeping with sirens please! Or "Broken" by Seether ft Amy Lee, I bet you'll love them
So glad you’re getting into Pearl Jam! They’re my favorite grunge band ❤️
Omg yess, the day finally came 💛 can’t wait for you to react to more songs, love your personality
AUGUST BURNS RED - Invisible Enemy ❤️
Pearl Jam - Jeremy (uncensored version) would of been a better choice.
The unplugged version is amazing but te original vídeo is very very powerful and a must watch

I love to hear that I just listened to that for the first time!!!! Keep listening and open up more to more music!!!!!
oof. I feel like if Alex had heard a word of that song he wouldn't have been so peppy. The music video reaction would have been a lot more effective.

His vocals whilst sounding ad lib are sound for sound the same as the recorded album. He is pitch perfect live. Amazing singer, amazing band, especially that drummer. The grunge scene in Seattle at the time produced the most amazing songs, this is definitely in the top 10 of those. Pearl Jam would have 4 if not 5 of those songs.
Eddie Vedder’s voice stirs the soul and challenges the mind. A modern day shaman for the least and the lost. Transcendent.
This song gives me chills everytime I hear this song for so many reasons. His passion, the meaning of the song, knowing he had a cold this day...and a million other reasons. So good.
Great reaction! I remember back in the day buying this Cd when it first dropped. "Black" is my favorite song.
I’ve seen pearl jam 4-5 times every time has been fantastic.. they’re so in tune with each other
Was in my second year at FSU, still remember the great times in Tally to this song! Still play it loud, just a little bit older! This is gold!
Eddie is more than a singer, he’s a legendary story teller. Review Last kiss, Better man and Daughter.
Brad Hobman I agree ❤️
Last Kiss is a cover from the 60’s
Last kiss yes please!!
MTV spring break - Bush - Glycerine. The concert was supposed to stop because of the weather. But, Gavin grabs a guitar and sings in the rain. One of my favorite performances EVER!! Please check this one out Alex and all otherHefnerds out there.
One thing I love from great bands is great singers... Eddie gives so much life to ask his songs that you can feel your are where he wants you to be.
Great performer... And even better performing live!

Been waiting on this one to come around since I saw your first Pearl Jam reaction. Amazing song!
This song is about Jeremy Delle, R.I.P. :(
Music is food for the Soul.
Amazing song and Alex, love watching your videos. But dude, was so hard to watch you smiling to this one...it has always made me incredibly sad. It’s lyrically so powerful and it’s origin, heartbreaking.
Keep rockin!
This song hits very close to home. My son was mercilessly bullied in school. While I would never condone dealing with it through violence, I understand why it happens. Thank goodness my son worked through it without harming himself.
I love them. Nice reaction! 😎🎉
