I saw this tour in Cleveland 1985. Seeing all of the thrash bands in their infancy was a treat. I even saw Megadeth play in the smallest shittiest club. It was awesome. The Metallica/Wasp/Armored St. show was the best, though. Those were great times.
Saw Wasp/Matallica in Buffalo. In a bar 🍺. Super Bowl Sunday 85.
*Metallica. Stupid fingers.
Blondie's in Detroit for the win, LOL Funny some of the places in which these bands played.
@@jib3015 Saw them 2x at Lamours BKLYN NY in 85
I saw that same Metallica tour , it was for the Kill Em All tour , with WASP and Armored Saint. The club held between 500-1000 people and i was at the stage for Metallica , literally 10 feet from the band. We paid $10 at the door , those were the days. Got to see all the metal and thrash bands before they became huge , miss that stuff. We were lucky growing up in the 80's and during the prime of metal....
I'm believing the Slayer side of this story. Who headbutts someone else for pissing their own pants? If this was common practice Ozzy would've been gradually decapitated from multiple separate headbutts by age 30.
Yeah I agree with you there
Nobody wants to admit they were pissed on. Even Anthrax changed their story from shitting on Charlie or somebody to shitting in the water filled tank on the back of the toilet.
@@junkbox_ Joey is that you? 😂
@@junkbox_ Especially after asking for it.
Ya not sure on that...would you want a grown man doing that in your bed?. Let alone a tour bus you was invited on. Not to hard to believe actually if you look at it that way. Who cares you pissed your pants thats funny...but you urinated on my shit! Not cool the stink.
Now the joke... He/Tom was just marking his territory like any dog. hahaha and Chronos the wolf got pissed ... no pun intended.
Rumour has it that Tom's famous scream on Angel of Death was recorded when the band flashed a hidden image of Cronos to Tom when he wasn't expecting it.
Ew
The REAL truth is, that scream is actually Cronos - when Tom pissed on his face.
The Slayer version of this story sounds more believable. Cronos headbutting Tom because he pissed his pants doesn't make sense, but Cronos saying that instead of admitting he was pissed on makes total sense.
How??? He was drunk af and pissed on their bus. Makes sense to me.
@@TheMetalWarrior1993 Exactly. Piss doesn't just stay in your pants.
@@normdeplume6492 mad beer = spillage😂🍻
Abaddon, who doesn't even get along with Cronos, confirmed Lant's version of what happened. Cronos would've maimed Araya if he pissed on him.
@@chrismorgan7494 All 3 of them don’t get along with each other. Mantas did recently say that he wanted to reunite with them again though, that really would be fucking awesome, I’d absolutely love to see that happen.
Gary Holt (Exodus/Slayer): "During that tour with Venom together in ’84, we immediately bonded with the Slayer guys. It was two bands of friends playing with one band of heroes, you know? We were just star-struck-Venom was one of the bands that helped mold both of us. We cut our collective teeth on albums like _Welcome to Hell_ and now we were on tour with them, watching them bust through “Black Metal” and “Countess Bathory.” It was amazing, man. Venom are personal heroes of mine, huge influence on early Exodus, and still one of my favorite bands of all time."
No wonder I'm familiar with the Exodus "Strike of the Beast" riff
Good Times 80's to early 90's. Would love to live out those days again 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Cronos is a piece of shit though.
Tom played the long game and won. Over the years his piss burnt off Cronos' hair.
😅
Love it freaking great comment!!!!
LOLLLL!
Uh huh. Hmm.

"I got annoyed" Who WOULDN'T get annoyed by someone pissing on your head?! Knocking him out is proper protocol IMO for being pissed on. Like the old saying, 'better to be pissed OFF than to be pissed ON...Great story!
Cronos didn't admit to getting pissed on but he for sure got pissed on.
Looks like both!
I just wonder how the hell so many bands have managed to keep their drivers from writing books about them. There must be a helluva lot of crazy stories out there among retired tour bus drivers.
Some of them would be lying, like the guy who drove Metallica's bus in September 1986.
The story finally leaked.
Boom. Tish!

Kerry King (Slayer): "Venom were the first thrash band I heard on record. It really pushed me to be the best. Heavy music to me early would have been Van Halen, Deep Purple. The thing that transformed me was hearing [Judas] Priest on the radio. But, to me, it was all about Venom. I still listen to _Welcome to Hell_ and _Black Metal_ all the time. I was big-time into Venom. I thought Cronos was the single most evil entity I’d ever seen in my life! I was very inspired by that, as you can tell from our early recordings."
I saw Kerry & Cronos talking together backstage at Donnington Fest UK [Download fest] & you could see they were good friends by the relaxed way they were laughing & just hanging with each other. Cool moment.
Holy hell, what a story.
I remember when a buddy and I went to a party years ago when we were kids, like young kids, he was smoking a cigarette at the table we were all drinking at and the dude next to him put out his palm so he could ash in it since he was closer to the sink and there was no ashtray, my dumbass drunk friend takes this as an invitation to put his cigarette out on dudes palm.
Dude sat there, let it happen, and then got up and socked him in the face.

This story is really making the internet rounds as of late. Here is what someone else said regarding the incident in the comments section of another website:
"So, I found an old interview with Abaddon (no friend of Cronos') who says that Tom did drop trow and come at Cronos, but never got the chance to urinate. He also says that Cronos "nutted him" which is the Brit slang for a headbutt to the face, so Cronos might be being honest on this."
I definitely believe Cronos, who could kick Araya's ass regardless of what condition Tom is in.
So did he piss his pants AFTER the headbutt??
I'd believe a Brit to just tell a straight story any day, over a Yank who can't help changing the story details to make it sound better, blah blah.
Saw that tour in Sacramento. As a teenager, it was insane.
I remember a lady holding 2beers over her head trying to cross the floor when Exodus started, Pit insued , and those beers never had a chance.
Reminds me of a personal story. I went to go see DRI with my friend and we took a break between songs at one point so nobody was up by the stage bc the DRI guys got off to set some shit up and Kurt was selling CDs n shit. After a few minutes they got back up stage and the crowd formed. This was in a bar/venue so the space wasn’t super huge but anyways they started to play and the pit opened up. Some guy from the bar who didn’t know about DRI or any metal it would seem from his outfit got in the middle of the pit before ppl started moshing. DRI started playing and out of nowhere 2 dudes came in and sandwiched him and everyone else joined in on the mosh. To this day I have no idea where he went because I never saw him after that lol

Saw Slayer on this tour when they played their UK debut at a small club in London called the Marquee in summer of 1985, one hell of a fricking manic hot gig and took loads of photos. Venom were great too and those first two LP's are great and did get to see both of those Hammersmith Odeon gigs (84/85) and at the ECT TV studios in 1985. Not what i listen to a lot today but still ground breaking times.
Either way nobody denied Tom got knocked the fuck out.
Tom Araya (Slayer): "Without Venom, there’s a good chance there wouldn’t have been a Slayer. Their _Welcome To Hell_ and _Black Metal_ albums were a big influence on our guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman. We did covers of Venom, Maiden, Priest… Venom was a big influence on Kerry as far as the imagery, and how we did the song-writing. I still think that _Welcome to Hell_ and _Black Metal_ are fucking awesome records, and I still listen to them now actually. Venom was a huge influence, and we started working on our own songs and developed it."
Venom inspired so many bands and genres!

Saw the gig at the Variety Theatre in Cleveland, 1985. Unfortunately, Mantas was not on guitar with Venom. There were 2 replacements who did the best they could. So its not only dave mustaine thats crazy drunk during their early years. I believe dave shouldve been given second chance with metallica or even 3rd or 4th chance. I guess Lars was just too insecure of Dave hence he had to device a plan to oust dave no matter what
Dave's still famous for being kind of a prick even when sober... so just imagine him shitfaced. Lars is a weird dude for sure, but I tend to think they really did boot Dave for being too obnoxiously drunk all the time (even for a band of other notorious drunks).
It never would have lasted anyway. Dave's a frontman personality to the core. You can't really have two frontmen in the same band. It just doesn't work. Sooner or later the egos would have collided.
Pretty much everyone who's been in a band of any genre has plenty of stories about obnoxious drunk band members. Metal, punk, country, hip-hop, whatever... it's just an occupational hazard. Even if you didn't drink at all before joining a band, you end up spending a LOT of time at parties and bars or just bored of your mind between gigs. Most people who play but don't get famous are very often paid with beer. And if you're any good at all, people tend to come out of the woodwork to buy you drinks and offer you various party favors. If a person has ANY insecurities, emotional issues or substance abuse tendencies - and let's face it, most musicians have one or more of those - shit can get out of hand real quick.
How did I know Kronos' enormous forehead was involved.
