    0-400 works great but you don't leave the lid up till it gets going? Risking an explosion on a pellet smoker.

    • @RACZBBQ
      @RACZBBQ  Год назад

      Hasn't been an issue with the Recteq for me. I know it's happened to some, but even Recteq says you don't need to leave the lid open with their grills.

    • @trevorwesterdahl6245
      @trevorwesterdahl6245 Год назад

      I can confirm with certainty. I have the Rec-Tec Bull. It has no startup issues or any risk of explosion... unless you don't clean it. Pellet dust and drippings build up on the botttom. Just clean it properly, you will never have an issue. Can't speak about other brands. Most box store brands are expensive cheap junk (I.e. Traeger) that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. I have had mine outside, uncovered, for over seven years. No sign of damage or issues. My brother bought Traegers. Two rusted through to worthlessness during the same time period. He wised up and bought a Rec-Tec.

    Interesting, and looks fantastic. Odd, however, that you said you go "by temperature, not time" but pulled the wings based on the clock, without checking the temp. Still, that should be fine for wings. Nice job!

    • @RACZBBQ
      @RACZBBQ  2 года назад

      Just looking out for the people who may just be starting out with cooking. I knew they'd be past temp, but maybe the newcomer does something wrong and they could be under temp. Thanks for watching.

    Aluminum will hurt u mentally… even in the deodorant I use the aluminum free stuff because the chemicals in the deodorant absorb through ur skin and into ur blood stream…. Also when I smoke wings I use stainless steel baking racks ole hickory have large ones ($30) and then I had seen som large 1s on Amazon for like $10 with the racks the wings are easy to move around quickly also I like to cook the sauce on the wings it’s just my preference

    Please, Please use gloves or tongs to touch chicken. I find it funny that you start to use tongs when you go to put the winds on the smoker when it was cold. One clean hand, on dirty hand. Please remember food safety at all times.

    Followed your recipe to a "T" and when my grill ignited it blew the lid open and wings were all over my deck. I contacted Rectec and they said this demonstration does not follow start up procedures and invalidates my warranty for a bent hood, and broken light. They totally exempt themselves from any liability since you were the one who encouraged people to bypass lighting instructions. Hope you have good insurance or deep pockets

      @@joenewman6494 Was it a result of this video and following the instructions given that caused it. My understanding is that this will happen on any brand pellet grill. I would be curious as to how many other viewers experienced the same thing following the instructions given. Let me know.

    • @trevorwesterdahl6245

      Please, explain how your grill exploded? I have the Rec-Tec Bull. The pellets gradually work into the ceramic burner. There is no gas or anything like it that can explode. '
      What you are describing sounds like a failure to clean the grill. Pellet dust and leftovers from cooking build up on on the bottom. Its absolutely critical that you pull the grills off, then the burner cover and clean it regulary (every couple of weeks for me). I use a portable shop vac with a filter that captures all dust. Takes ten minutes. If you let the dust and drippings build up, yes, it can explode, and/or catch the whole grill on fire and if the pellet feeder is full or you have too many drippings it can really create a massive blaze.
      So, yeah, they don't warranty the grill for failure to maintain it. Had mine for over 7 years and all I had to replace is the burner. Its shows no sign of damage like Tregers and all those cheap grills where they rust through. I leave it outside uncovered year round. No issues.
      Please don't make people think the grill has "startup issues". It absolutely does not.
