This resembles the spring in my windows I wish you would take the spring out and get a close up on it I’m curious how and why both of my springs are broken and how they’re wound. The flat steel coil is attached to a plastic piece about half way up the track on both sides, then more of the flat spring coil is attached to the bottom plastic pieces the window locks to and slides in the track. Just wondering how to replace these if there’s replacements available. Good video!

How do we match the part? What should we be looking for? Size? Part number?

I need to do the same thing for the top pane (double hung). I don't see a way to get the privet shoe and balance (coil spring) out from the track. I'm afraid to make the track wider because I'm afraid the track won't be normal straight when I put the new parts in.

The window I am servicing doesn't have a notch. The spring is actually broken. Has a 2 hole spring. I am having a hard time finding local parts. 8 lb spring says 8K on it.

grab hold of the shoe with channel locks and heat the vinyl with a heat gun and the shoe will slide right out. do the same to install the new shoe. the vinyl will reform when done
