Excellent video! I found the windows in my father's old house were with this kind of Spiral Balance and many of them were broken. I had never seen this kind of window balance and I was thinking that they were obsolete and the windows had to be replaced. I'm so happy that I have found this video and I can just have those broken Spiral Balance replaced myself. Thank you!
Very good, professional video. (I'm tired of seeing all these videos where the guy talks forever while you're looking up his nostrils.) I couldn't figure out how to fix the windows in my home, and this made it very clear. I'll be clicking the link above to order new hardware once I've taken the old parts out.
this video its perfetc help me a lot thank so much
vice grips will scratch up the window frame
also some need to be tensioned clockwise, some counter-clockwise, it goes the direction it wants to turn as you lift it.
Previous poster is correct. You need to turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE. I spent an hour trying to charge it following what the narrator said to do. I checked the comments and decided to try it counter clockwise. It only took a few seconds and the window was fixed.
😂🤣
Can you just re tension them? Or when they get to that point are they done ? Thanks all the cheap builder grade windows in my house suck to open and close . Thanks
I pulled my old ones out circa 2003 cleaned the spiral with turpentine then sprayed into the black tube WD 40 and reinstalled them both after turning the spiral at least 15 times. The window will not stay up, it slams down like a guillotine.
Well I wanna know what happens when the window falls so now I can't seem to lift the top window cause it is heavy what do I do about repairing it top window fell on the bottom window and neither win the world work and I can't seem to pull out does bottom window Because it's out win the won't let me
Twist COUNTER clock wise! The video says cloc wise but shows counter clockwise which is correct!
This is great, just what I need. But I'd like him to tell us why they need replacing. Perhaps they can be fixed?
There are many reasons why the balances fail. Over use, over extension, if you live on a coastal area with salt in the air this can degrade the balance etc.
Is this Dean Richards doing the voiceover?
Wow, Thank you, I was thinking I had to replace the window, question, where can buy that piece, please
Hi Francis. We're glad you found this video helpful! You can find a selection of our products on our online parts website here: windowhardwaredirect.com/
It's been a few months since we purchased this a/c and it's one of the best investments we ever made. Works perfectly and quietly.
Very informative and helpful for replacing or adjusting the spiral balance on a double hung window-thank you!
Good video. My aluminum window started to rust between aluminum bottom part of window and the metal bracket on the bottom of window. I need to clean it now and repaint it to prevent more corrosion. I just did not know how to remove springs and this video helps in doing that. Thank you.
Did he say turn the tensioner clockwise 🤔
My old windows have the spiral balance and at the bottom of the spiral there was a plastic piece that stuck out about an inch to hold the windows. What is that piece called?
It is excellent information that shows how to repair these windows; I could not fix it with this guide. Thanks for your contributions!
Can’t find adapter bracket on bottom of window. Can it be somewhere else besides the bottom of window. Help please.
Thanks for the tip! But when installing the spiral, isn't he going counterclockwise?
😂 yeah how funny I'm not very smart but I'm pretty sure he's going anticlockwise😂😂
How to remove a 'clip on' spiral balancer?
Counter clockwise
How do you remove the window itself?
On a non tilting window, there are brackets screwed in on the bottom of the sash. You will need to push window up, use vice grip or another way of holding window up. Then unscrew the bracket that is holding the balance in place. The balance rod should fall down with no tension. Repeat other side.
@@windowrepairTV do you know how to remove the window itself after you remove the balance? That’s what Im trying to do .
Watch your own video man. Your boy is tightening counter-clockwise. ..but that's just details SMH 😞
Had to wind our spiral clockwise on a aluminium double sash, the bottom clips had a edge so it wouldn't slip out after tensioning.
