    Hi there. I bought one of these saws second hand a few months ago. I was aware that it wasn't cutting accurately but that didn't matter to me at the time, but tonight with a little bit of spare time I decided to check it out. Looking at the machine it looked pretty straightforward then I saw a technical helpline number on the machine so thought I would give them a ring tomorrow. Now however thanks to your excellent tutorial I won't have to bother. Many grateful thanks !

    Thanks, this was much needed. The manual and official evolution online guides or videos were useless. Your video was very clear and perfectly allowed me to set up the machine. To be honest I’m surprised how off it was on almost every aspect (with the exception of the fence).
    One thing that surprised me about most of the videos online is any guidance regarding setting up the blade, there’s 2 locking washers. The first washer that is between the blade and the machine is designed to fit blades with different sized centres, though none of the online guides explain this, and the diagram that comes with the machine doesn’t add up to what is on the SMS+, so you need to have previous knowledge of mitre saws to be aware of the reason/importance of having this the correct way around.
    Many thanks for the video.

    Hello, I have a 255 sms db+ but the settings seem identical, a lot of people say bad things about the laser, and don't seem to be able to fix it, yet it doesn't seem particularly difficult, well, I say that, but I'll see on the machine. And check all the other basic settings, thanks for this interesting tutorial. (Ricco, from France) 👍

      Hope the video helps you. I found it easy enough to alter the laser. It's needs very slight movement on the screw only. I use the laser when cutting, but many people don't. It can be can difficult to see the laser when the sun is shining. But then I'm in England.... and the sun is never out, especially this summer 🙁🙁

    Fantastic video on set up and laser alignment. I have seen on other tutorials that besides the two screws you used to adjust left and right, there is another screw on the left side of the laser. At any point do you need to loosen that single screw before you adjust either of the two you adjusted.
    Hope the question makes sense.
    Once again thanks for the great tutorial.
    I have just purchased the Evolution R255 SMS+.......so hopefully the same process for the laser alignment is the same.....i shall hopefully be setting it up tomorrow.

      Oh yes I know exactly what you are talking about. It even says in the handbook to adjust that screw on the left of the laser. But it doesn't actually move. Maybe on the older models it did and they have now changed it, but mine definitely does not move. I finally realised this after about 30 minutes of trying 🙄 Thanks for taking the time to leave comment. Glad you enjoyed the video 😁

    Hi I've setup my saw to the best of my ability following your tutorial. After the calibration I cut a small piece of wood both sides and when I put in set square it's not square slightest gap any ideas what I can do.

    • @bloominhometogarden
      @bloominhometogarden  2 года назад +1

      Sounds like your blade is not 90 degree square with the table, if I'm understanding you correctly. Go to my video ' 26 seconds ' from start of video and I'm checking the blade is 90 degree square with table. When you put the set square against table and blade make sure it's not touching the raised bits of the blade at all. There should be no gap at all between the square and blade (1 minute into video) all the way down the square. Shining a light directly on it can help you see the slightest gap. It needs adjusting if it does (1.35 minutes) how to adjust it. If you know this is correct, check the orange pointer is on '0 degree' (47 seconds). If not you may need to loosen the screw slightly and make sure the orange pointer is pointing exactly at '0. I hope this helps you.
