  • A short 24 hour session, with a meet up from the CarpKings regular blogger, "the very accomplished Simon". A great day and a look at the Deeper fish finder and cooking in cold weather with some surprises along the way. Sadly we both Blanked
    Oh well......we still had fun!

      Hello Stu, yes I was told it was a difficult lake at best but i don't mind putting the hours in if the rewards are there, you certainly will see me at some point on sunny2 i intend on giving this place a good run this year thanks for the comment Stu, regards Matt

      Sounds like your from my end of the country pal , im near Chorley , when you fish sunny 2 if you can get on the double peg closest to the island get on it its a great swim with gravel bars to your right and a great overhanging tree margin and you have the island to fish to , all the best Stu .

      Haha yup its still there pal , just been looking at them swiss army stoves on ebay , there cheap as chips going to order one great tip that never seen them before .

    • @MaffTUK
      @MaffTUK  7 лет назад +1

      Stainless steel are best but aluminium are ok, check for the three crowns (trademark genuine gear) make sure it has the burner and fuel bottle. then purchase on ebay or amazon a simmer ring The trick is to practice with it at first, you will think "cant be arsed" but the more you use it the better it gets, when its really cold put the burner in your pocket and that will help it light better to, compared to gas at 0 degrees and below the Trangia will out perform it every time. Lighting the Trangia is really the most tricky bit, I have a video called "winter hammock Hang" you will see a smaller stove being used but then you will see how easy it is to light just using a twig off the ground these little tricks make life much easier. also look up Swiss army Cookset on youtube for some user guides. or you could opt for a complete little cooker and stand if you have plenty of pots to cook in there are loads on the market and in summer get the gas bottle out again. good luck Stu

    That duck was definitely not a happy bunny lol...minding its own business at 9ft under. Got to say Matt I think a designer duck that you can sit in the palm of your hand and walk around with could be the way forward for you lol. Made me chuckle. Always lots of lols as well as great information in your videos Matt and very well done on getting out there and winter carping. Paul :)

      Paul, That bunny duck was stealing Simon's Bait!¬ I'm not saying it deserved it but i bet next time it might think " Ah no actually ill miss on that" LOL you know what Paul I found it so funny holding that duck like that, It did look like the next ventriloquist act on Britons got no talent. Just glad it was able to hold its breath sooo long as it was 100yds out

    Nice job Matt, at least you had a good meal and a stiff G&T !lol! Do you ever try Hendricks Gin? Bit pricey over here but I do bust it out once in a while for a treat🍸 See you soon M8.

    • @MaffTUK
      @MaffTUK  7 лет назад +1

      I do indeed have a bottle of Hendricks, it is in fact one of my favourites and its bleeding pricey here to, so when this bottle is gone I wont be getting another one in a rush LOL. That haggis stew is an ugly meal but it sure hits the spot on a cold day. Cheers wade. regards Matt

    After this video, did someone show you how to get the gas stove to work well in below-freezing? We used one on the last trip, ranging between -8 and -13 with no problem.

      Usually Thor the ducks will go straight to the surface but this one just held its breath LOL still, at least it lived, not only that it was 9ft to the bottom of the lake at that point so it went some distance.....
