What a pleasure to be part of this movie! That’s all you can call it a movie 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I know how much you grafted on this mate, so fair play, pulled it together for one incredible watch ❤️ Merry Christmas, still the most hardworking friend I have ever met by a long shot x
Some team! You guys have created an absolute perfect documentary and your dedication is inspiring. Exactly why us fishermen put the time and effort in to those long days buy the water. Top Class 🙌🏻
I dont know how to tell you this but you already stand side by side with people like Jeremy Wade as in that you are inspiring the new generation to go fishing. You are one of the greats.
@fishwithcarl its the least i can do for all the great videos. I have been a fan since the park lake campaign, that was the best fishing video i had ever seen up to that point and its only gotten better. 👍
Another fantastic film what an experience to have had and catching the fish you dreamed of You commentary style is soothing and relaxing I could listen to you all day Keep up the good work
Didn’t get any presents this year but you’ve uploaded this banger watching this now in my bivvy (also as a junior you’ve inspired me t make videos and i love the creative journey of it
Having fished the Cauvery twice nearly 20 years ago i cannot explain the joy this gave me and the excitement and passion this rekindled within me to take the step and commit to these as some see it mad adventures. What they don't realise is the capture is just one part of the experience and almost more than the fishing the memories are of the place and the people we meet on the way. Fishing maybe the reason we go but sometimes not the reason we return. Great film guys, the news of the dams planned is sad for me but devastating for the communities and cultures of the area. I will be adding my objections wherever i can, the loss of this population of a species that survives the adversities of nature as it does only to be made extinct by mans efforts to tame nature would be a huge loss. Fishing as the team at Himalayan outback clearly bring revenue to the region and raise the profile of the issues maybe there is hope. What film, what memories came flooding back, keep them coming Carl!
A few have mentioned but I'm amazed you aren't being seriously quizzed about making docu films like this for a wider audience. Stunning camera work and great , well researched narration. Top notch Carl and right up there with your very best stuff . Great viewing and glad you snagged such a beautiful fish.. dare say they'll be a sequel at some time in the future
Makes me reminiscing of the time when, as a small boy, I rented John Wilson's videotapes here in the Netherlands. That was the first time, some 30 odd years ago, that I heard of the mahseer. Looking forward to watching your YT video!
@@derekmay8679 I was thinking about this the other day, did a bit of digging and the hydro electric has done so much damage especially the real bigguns are no longer there.

They capture the atmosphere and emotion perfectly. I want to express my greatest thanks for taking me to places i could only dream of. I wish you great luck on your adventures, and thanks for sharing them

The mighty masheer seriously distracted me from my main endeavours there. My biggest came from a piece of chapati. There is an aura about these fish that is unique. Well done Omi . Glad they are still using clay chai cups...
Fantastic video as usual Carl! Nice to see you and Alex spending some quality time together as well! Glad you finally caught one🤣 Keep up the great work!
Carl , it’s not often words fail me but this trip was amazing. I remember a long time ago John Wilson fishing for these fish, as a young boy I was amazed and enchanted by them. I may never live my dream of going but you making this film has made me feel that feeling again. You did amazing, well done , cheers Ady
Extremely well made film and reminds me of my childhood sitting in John Wilson's shop and chatting to him whilst he was editing his mahseer episodes. Keep up the good work Carl and team
I’ve travelled quite a lot in India and whilst I’ve not fished I am so glad that you felt the magic of the country , the people the landscape and attitude is so inspiring.
Another amazing film. Authentic is the word. Poignant is another. This story speaks to a fisher who has been at it for 60 years, thanks for masterfully bringing home why we do what we do.
Gents. Ive been with you since the beginning. Not only have you grown as men, but as terrific anglers and documentary writers of the highest standards. Amazing story & stunning production - possibly the best I’ve seen on RUclips. Why the BBC haven’t signed you up yet is a mystery to me. Has to be a matter of time. Good luck for 2025 & yet again, thanks for sharing your adventures.
What an amazing film!! Having grown up watching JW fishing for these on TV , it’s lovely to see the next generation of anglers/filmers/ conservationist revisiting with the same passion we saw all those years ago. The Golden Mahseer has to be one of the best looking fish, regardless of size. Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas to you all. 🎄
I remember watching John Wilson catch these fish and they have always been on my wish list.. You managed to capture something truly magical with your film and I sincerely hope you carry on making films like this in the future.... Bravo sir... and congratulations on fulfilling a dream
In the footsteps of the great John Wilson but so new and fresh. They aren't just videos they are amazing documentaries well done team and please kepp them coming.
Carl, what you’re doing on your Channel has only ever been done but three other anglers on TV, Mr Wilson, Mr Yates and Mr James. The honesty and passion for angling runs pure. Thank you.
Omg. The vidoe i waited so long, the golden Mahseer is also my dream fish, im from Pakistan and live on the bank of indus river, very few people around the world know that the real home of Mahseer is indus river, Mahseer that live here are gigantic, i have seen some big Mahseer, although i haven't been able to catch a big one yet, but i am trying, someone i know claims that he saw a golden Mahseer weighting over 80 kilos, (i doubt it but who knows) the best encounter i had with the was last year in October 2023 on the of indus river (very big and deep river) a fish jump in the middle of the river the sound was so loud that many people heard and talked about it, unfortunately this fish isn't being valued as you do carps in your countries, fish is just food here, you can also come to Pakistan and catch golden Mahseer larger maybe a record size... Amazing video btw 👌🏼

No , the oldest fossils of the mahseer are from the Ganges riverine system. And moreover it's recorded history in the Ganges is older than that of the Indus.
Carl this is absolutely incredible! Easliy as good as any documentary on TV and maybe even better! I first saw this fish when John Wilson went there it's so many years ago and this brought back so many childhood fishing memories of fishing and watching fishermen on TV. I'm so happy you got your fish in the end, definitely deserved it for the time, commitment and dedication you have. It's people like you that still give me some hope for this planet which sadly is going to rack and ruin...Keep up the amazing work and chasing your dreams Carl...
What an incredible film! And a beautiful fish to end it on! You have inspired me to finally go and visit India! And put another thing on my to-do list there! Keep make amazing films and inspiring other anglers! I don't think I'd be as hooked on this hobby if your videos didn't show me what was possible when I was only catching a few roach and not sure what I was doing wrong
Thanks for the Xmas day Video Drop Carl! Merry Christmas to you all, hope you have a good day! Nice to see you share the experience with Alex, Naomi and Cal.
I have long been a fan of your story and your amazing videos but this one resonates more than most. As a teenager, I watched several videos of people fishing for Mahseer and it remains a bucket-list wish for me to follow in their footsteps and now yours. Perhaps I need to work a little harder on making that dream happen. Please continue to inspire us to get out fishing but to take joy in the surroundings when we do this. You are truly a wonderful story teller and movie maker.
35:45 To say that a golden mahseer is breathtakingly beautiful is a massive understatement. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Good to see you all this happy on a trip of a lifetime. 👍👍👍👍

It's like a Christmas present for me .. I was always wondering when you all will visit my country India . I have been following your channel for the past 5 years. Seeing your fishing video always brings me happiness. Being passionate about fishing myself I learned a lot about fishing from you all . I hope I will get to see another fishing adventure in India. What a brilliant video this is Carl. You have truly caught India’s most beautiful fish and created the most relaxing and informing video. So excited for the future of this channel, I know this is just the beginning of brilliant exquisite videos like this that intrigue young anglers like me to carry on in this amazing hobby. An idea for a future movie/vid could be to visit Hawkhurst fish farm and catch big catfish. Wow what a fantastic documentary Carl. You capture the emotions of fishing so perfectly. You had me tearing up at the end. Keep up the good work and continue the quests around the world!

Mate....this documnet is one of the best i have seen, actually i follow this himalayan guys facebook page and there i have seen your picture and was waiting for this video.finally got time to watch it and i really loved it.and you said "that fish will never know that effect it had on you just like omi"was so poetic ❤😊
I've just finished watching this, my little dog next to me, sat next to the Xmas tree with a couple of Baileys. What a fantastic film! I watched with a smile on my face, which because of depression I've not always had. I always look forward to your adventures, totally unique, NEVER change or stop chasing your dreams. It was so nice seeing you share the trip with Alex and Omi, both getting their life's needs met. It was fate when you and Omi both met. Who knew what fine adventures and support you would share together? She's a true keeper. How about a trip clonking for big cats on the mighty river Po next? Wishing you all a fantastic new year and providing us with a conduit into worlds we could only imagine xx
The quality of the editing & filming of this upload is at another level, well done to all the team that were involved Carl & Cal and the rest of the team including the guards who this would not be possible.
To think there's 1.4 BILLION people there in India is crazy while seeing these beautiful places, man what a great film, absolutely love it and for some reason they hit different when you brothers are together! Love seeing you guys adventuring together, Good stuff man thanks for the Xmas gift!
Outstanding video, as good as any angling programmes that have been on mainstream TV, exploring different cultures etc, not just all about the fishing, superb 👌

What a brilliant episode Carl. Reminded me so much of John Wilson back in the day, clambering over rocks to land a fish. You didn’t land the biggie, who cares, it’s not always about monsters. Be proud of what you and your team achieved. Thanks for the Christmas present.
A brilliant movie thanks for sharing Carl what amazing family and friends you have I thoroughly enjoyed it I would love to do a adventure like this one day with my wife and children cheers 🎣🙏
What a beautiful video, I'm sure I'm not the only one that remembers as a child watching John Wilson laughing as he was dragged around by a huge mahseer in the rapids. Love that this video is just as inspiring but you've also captured a real sense of what that part of India is like also. Omi may be the start of the video though :)
Brother what an absolutely beautiful film. Hard work and dedication definitely pay off . Please do make more of these videos to inspire anglers like myself . Greetings all the way from South Africa God Bless
What a great Movie, as usual, Carl! Really nice to see Omi, Alex and Cal being together with you in this journey. About mankind construction changing the rivers, communities - sad of course as it changes the wildlife but in Latvia for example that has allowed fish to grow enormous and untouched in the reservoirs deep and dark depths where otherwise I don’t think it could happen. Change is not always pleasant and happy for all parts involved but we have to try to gain the most of it and look on the positive side, just like the leaving of your camera man and so on. I believe the fish will adapt in a way that it doesn’t get extinct, just like you Carl! Love from Latvia
Yet another fantastically produced video, from the content itself to the editing. Nice to see you and Alex reunited! ❤ Already looking forward to your next video!

Now that's a MOVIE Carl! 🔥 Awesome fishing trip to India!
Just love the sense of adventure and destiny in the hearts of these young people. Beautiful story - inspiring - thank you.
Thank you so much!
Ah sounds amazing Rich, thanks so much for watching! Have a great 2025!!!!
@fishwithcarl thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Definitely 25 will be a good year!
This was amazing, 10/10 I'm so glad you both got to catch one, this was such a great story, thanks for sharing it with us.
Merry christmas! Keep up the content and letting the majority of us see things that are out of reach!
What a treat! I have been watching your videos for many years, and seen you grow as a fisherman, as a creator, and as a person, this latest video was very inspiring and beautiful, and it’s is probably the best yet! I look forward for many new adventures, thank you very much for sharing them!
You’ve grown so much as a person and film maker. Congrats to you and the team for coming this far.
That had me in tears wow I have only seen pictures of a mahseer what an incredible fish..

Absolutely brilliant watch. Great videography and editing and so glad you got to land one of those amazing fish in the end. Brought tears to my eyes.
What a brilliant episode Carl. Reminded me so much of John Wilson back in the day, clambering over rocks to land a fish. You didn’t land the biggie, who cares, it’s not always about monsters. Be proud of what you and your team achieved. Thanks for the Christmas present.
Merry Christmas😄
Thanks You for visiting India…
Hoping for more of your fishing adventures in India.
Majestic! Watched this on Christmas Day and far better than anything else on the tv! Really well edited and captured… thank you
Ahh thanks!! Very kind!!!
India is truly Incredible. Loved the video

Im crying, such a great film. Great footage and great message :) Thank you 🙏🏽
Epic Carl. Only channel worth watching from our scene. Videos with soul and emotion. No one else captures it.
Thank you for showing me this magical place!
Thank you for watching!
A wonderfully made video!
Been so so lucky to have come across it.
I never knew of this fish before. I was drawn in. It was as much a documentary as a fishing video. Excellent work!
Brother what an absolutely beautiful film. Hard work and dedication definitely pay off . Please do make more of these videos to inspire anglers like myself . Greetings all the way from South Africa
God Bless
This is just the best video, so far. It got me right in my feels
What a great fishing documentary!! 10/10 man
Yet another fantastically produced video, from the content itself to the editing. Nice to see you and Alex reunited! ❤ Already looking forward to your next video!
Cheers! Yeah, was great to be back with my brother :)
