This video is awesome! I do have some questions I’m hoping someone can answer for me. I’m between the 650 and 850 (the middle and top of the three line series)
Can I add water to the 850? I have read a ton of reviews on 850 and I always see people saying it doesn’t add a lot of water and clothes don’t get as clean bc there isn’t enough water to rinse dirt/soap.
What is the actual difference between the 650 and 850 as far as features and cycles? I know one has 10 and the other 12 but what extra things are there? Good or bad? Thank you!!

  • @livingaboard

Just got the 650 washer for $595 at ge on clearance. They are coming out with a newer model. Also got the 85 series matching dryer for $476 also in clearance. Unfortunate the washer is white and they only had the dark metallic color left at that low price. They are in a closet so color doesn’t really matter
The 85 series dryer is a step up from the actual matching dryer to my 650 washer but that’s fine for the price.

What do you think about GE’s Profile UltraFresh 950 series. It’s a little bigger in capacity, at 5.3 cu. ft.? Was wondering what your thoughts were the larger capacity one, and if it would be worth it.

    • @Appliancefactoryout
      @Appliancefactoryout  2 года назад +4

King-sized comforters are one of the main reasons people need a larger capacity. The models in this video are already large enough to handle all but the bulkiest of king-sized comforters, so unless you have a very thick comforter you may not need the extra capacity.
The other consideration would be the average size and frequency of your laundry loads. If you are doing multiple full loads per week, the extra size could save you time by letting you do fewer loads. If you typically aren't filling the machine, or are only doing one or two loads a week you probably wouldn't notice the size difference.

Just realized the 65 doesn’t seem to have the washer link feature where it communicates with the dryer, like the 85 series does. Is that a feature I'll really miss out on?

  • @JavierG26868

Currently debating between the 550 vs 650 series. Currently the 550 bundle is $1550 vs the 650 bundle $2050. Trying to make sense if the features justify the $500 increase for the washer/dryer combo.

@@mskatpurple43090 hi Carmela, I ended up going with the 550 series because of the appealing price tag. I love it! I didn’t find I need for the extra features like the auto detergent dispense, or steaming, etc. I just bought a new home so I used those savings put it towards another project.
Regardless you will be happy with both options. If you find a deal on the 550 series you won’t regret it.

You can minimize the odors by keeping the door open, use powder soaps (liquids are fat based) and keeping the filter and door seal clean. BUT, GE washers do not use enough water and they keep way too much dirty water in the bottom of the machine between loads. This is a non vented warm area where too much bacteria mixed dirty water just sits and gets extremely nasty. They could easily change the design but after years and years they haven't. They know there is an issue with these machines. It's disgusting wearing clothes that are full of bacteria.

This is by far the worst washing machine. Does not wash nor rinse clothes properly. the amount of water the machine uses is way reduced. We have had the machine for 4 months and slowly started noticing my daughters white clothes not getting cleaned. Especially the underarm area which turned gray and yellow on all her whites as well as odor.
The washer also does not rinse all of the soap out no matter the cycle as well as using the extra rinse option and the machine itself is very loud.
Save your money and look else where .. horrible piece of engineering. Also is not easy on the water bill because we have to keep running the extra rinse cycle.
the other issue is if you a smaller laundry room run both the washer and the dryer at the same time the heat from the dryer and moisture from the washer will cause your walls to sweat or collect moisture while they are both running. so resolve this we have to leave the window open
i have to say the noise generated by the so called venting sounds like a semi truck and for us is a problem ..
machine does not rinse or wash your clothes properly .. we kept it for 4 months and got rid of it.

GE appliances is a Chinese company owned brand. If their products are great they don't need to sold it to Haier many years ago.
