Thanks so much mate, spent hours trying to figure out how to do it all in Canva! Ended up using Canva for the design and then Mac's Preview app. Legend.
I'm using the 2020 version from Corel Graphics Suite. I've also done the same thing using GIMP and Photoshop. Any app that will allow you to use the magic wand selector should work in a similar way to Photo Paint.
Hi Sherry, Thanks for pointing that out. To capture the image frame from the Zoom video, I opened the video in my video player and selected full screen view. At any place in the video wherever both people are on the screen, I used the PrntScn button on my keyboard to capture the image. It was saved in the screen capture folder of my pictures file. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question. Thanks!
I did everything the same way you did and even got the same apps you used but when I go to save my flattened image it makes the whole overlay transparent instead of just the boxes. Could you help me!
The size is 720 x 1280 RUclips thumbnail. Here's the template link www.canva.com/design/DAE6zHzyg30/s5WD12VS5MEYVt-FR_WRgA/view?DAE6zHzyg30&mode=preview let me know if it works.
@@franklintaggartcoaching Thank you. It looks great! Easy to change up for any brand! Do you happen to know if this will work in Riverside? I am torn about which service to use for video podcasting.
I haven't tried this with any app besides Zoom. I understand that with some of them you can use an overlay during the live broadcast. So far, Zoom hasn't allowed that so I've been adding it after the fact. You might be able to adapt this template and take a screen shot of your Riverside screen and adjust the windows to fit.@@CarlosNMartin
I don't think there is an option like that in Zoom. I have resized Zoom videos in Camtasia when I edit them by duplicating the video track and cropping it then sizing each video separately behind the overlay. I wonder if any of the streaming services offer that feature. I haven't used them enough to know.
Hi Franklin this is a great video, thanks. Once I have downloaded the overlay template made in canva, to get that appearing on screen during my zoom video call ? where do I add it to zoom, As I cannot seem to find a place where the overlays can be uploaded? I am on the free version. Or do I first record the zoom meeting with my guest & then in post production add it over the video before uploading it to you tube? Is there a way I can make 1 generic template upload it to zoom and only have to change the guests name for each interview and have it appear directly on each zoom call? Or do I have to start from scratch every interview and create a new template changing the guest name and redownloading it from canva and then uploading it to a video editor every time I do an interview? This all seems like a a lot of work! Is there a more simple way to achieve this?
I don't use this overlay during my live Zoom calls, I add it later when I edit the video. If you're using an app like Streamyard or Restream or OBS, you may be able to use the overlay for your live broadcast if you're using gallery view in Zoom. I've not tried to use the overlay in that situation but Zoom hasn't introduced the ability to use overlays yet. They only use backgrounds. It may seem like a lot of extra work, but if you're editing your videos before uploading them, it doesn't take much time to add the overlay to the mix. Thanks for watching!
If you're trying to use this for the live Zoom call it won't work unless you're using a service like Restream or Streamyard. I use this overlay in my video editing program when I'm editing the recording to cover up all the black areas around the two Zoom windows.

Here's one. You'll have to reduce the size of the zoom video slightly to fit, but I wanted the title to be visible, and the full sized Zoom screen got in the way. www.canva.com/design/DAFKGYSzvRA/-EEvc4xVF2GVWXBMyPC-hA/view?DAFKGYSzvRA&mode=preview

fantastic video! I've been searching for something like this for a long time. I appreciate you taking the time to make this!
Thank you Franklin! I spent hours looking for a way to add borders/overlay on my summit interviews in Zoom! Subbed!
Thank you very much Mr. Franklyn!!!

are you still using corel photo paint for this? it seems that they discontinued the product?

I may have missed this, but what's the video editing software you're using?
It's Camtasia by Techsmith.
What microphone are you using? Its super clear.
I use a Rode NT1A through a Mackie fxpro6 mixer and a Presonus USB 96 audio interface. The Rode USB mics have similar clarity. Thanks for the comment!
how did you copy a frame picture 1st? u missed that part.

Great video but when you added the overlay to your video how did it know to split the two videos apart?
I used gallery view in the zoom meeting and recorded that view. It automatically sizes the two windows.
How did you make the front card? Meaning, was it a template, white board, what size, etc.?
