Why I miss E3...

- E3 is something gamers all around the world are familiar with and for good reason!
E3 announcements, E3 trailers, E3 reactions... Truly E3 was always an exciting time to be a Gamer.
This has made all those "E3 cancelled" Headlines over the past few years pretty tough to read for some but others argue that E3 is a waste of time and redundant what with the rise of the Nintendo Direct and State of play or Playstation showcase.
I don't think that's true however and today I'm going to explain why I miss E3...

I really miss the E3 time of year. It was like christmas for gaming news. A time for everybody from all genres and all platforms to get together and see what everyone is getting and whats new and pushing the industry forward. I completly understand why its gone now, companies would rather deliver ther news they have when they have it instead of feel rushed to throw stuff together for a 3 day summer event.
There’s definitely advantages to it being gone for the publishers! It’s just a shame the consumers lost such a fun event!
E3 was great because it forced each company to show up with their best and at the end of the show their was a winner and losers! Now companies can go radio silence and drip feed us whatever they want.
The sad reality of it nowadays - I really hope we see E3 again. Thanks for the support! :)

I would love to go to a video game convention one day. I think im outgrowing or getting bored with the vibe of a Comic Con. A convention dedicated to just gaming would be my jam.
I got into the E3 show for the first time only 2 years before it was canned. I was impressed. So if those were the bad years, it makes me wonder just how much I missed out on.
Honestly all E3's were great fun! The good, the bad and the cheesy! It's all part of it!

We need a video game conference celebrating games and that isn’t available to just the press and industry veterans, we would flock to an event if it was just e3 for the gamers

Sadly, the pandemic era made everyone watch a presentation without a rl audience, end everything became way less "human"

Anything worth playing will come to my attention eventually and I don’t have the attention span to sit through being gaslit by companies that companies that have destroyed one of my biggest passions. The state of the video game industry comes down to the fact that they don’t want to adapt and they have nothing but contempt for their customers/audience. Even things like pre ordering games shouldn’t exist in todays day and age. You can buy any game the second it releases but it’s just another way they try and siphon more money from the players.
Wouldn't the game award also count as "Christmas event for gamers" especially since it's during the month of Christmas and it holds the thing people gets excited for which is the game of the year award.
Oh absolutely! We still adore the game awards, it’s a lot of fun! Just doesn’t hit QUITE the same as a week of showcases imo! Christmas time as a mood tends to be more than just the one day to me and that’s how E3 always felt(:

It was definitely the beginning of the end once Sony stopped showing up. Having the big three showcase their own gaming event periodically definitely keeps the pressure off them and helps fans follow their preferred platform instead of the ones they don’t own or care about.
It certainly does put the pressure of them! And yeah that’s a fair point! For me, I think I’d argue that maybe having multiple showcases a year from each publisher actually makes it slightly more difficult to keep up with their news? (More frequently required attention throughout the year and longer runtime altogether than one central e3 showcase). With e3 you had the option to just watch the showcases you wanted, it wasn’t like you couldn’t ignore the others if you wanted! Either way thanks so much for watching and for your opinion!(:
And now E3 is completely dead, and the hype died with it.
They don't even show games in game conference anymore anyway, lol what a shitshow.
