Okay not really but you can't deny that RAID was absolutely EVERYWHERE for awhile and looking back on it... I still can't say I know a single person who actually played the damn game?

The end of this is very interesting, as their parent company said in an investor report last year that Raid has entered "profit mode" - basically, there is less emphasis on obtaining new players, and more emphasis on getting current players to buy in.

Ive been playing raid for like 5 years. I did do a add up of all my spending across this time and it was nearly £2000. £20 here and there £5 £10 ect when I thought something was worth spending on. I didn't really notice it and since I've been playing daily for 5 years have I gotten my monies worth? I don't actually know. I know I did enjoy the high of getting that really strong character pull. But I have stopped spending this year and it's been actually better playing the game as free to play.
I think they've figured it out though, so even a player played it for a few weeks then gave up, later on the changes made to the game will be pretty substantial with new content, but the old customers don't know that maybe grinding is now easier, or the "pull rates" for characters are better, and they may have removed the energy consumption on any actions, so how would they entice you to come back?
Well, re-engage by making more ads here and there. By showcasing the ACTUAL changes and additions to the game. Whether they are good or bad isn't the point, as the old customer can ONLY reference their prior experience, now they may just give it a go again.
They reached a point that they really don't HAVE to do that, but it's still something they will give a go to. Cause I have seen the different ads even now.
Even those players who only played a week, they may have spent even $1 on it.
If they got 1mill new players, then 500k of those new players spent $10 then they made a huge profit even if only for the week, if, out of those 500k, 250k are consistently spending hundreds of dollars a month? They are comfy, but even if you're relying on your whales, you'd still want to bring in more players that'll potentially spend $10 or more at one time, even if they stop playing after a week, if you managed to get another 1mkll players and with luck ALL 1mill spend $10? You've secured a huge net to cover even the cost of the ads 10x's over.

I love your analysis/opinions… the production quality is good but it isn’t much valuable in itself if what’s been said is exactly the same same. This was a topic I was interested in learning about and your approach about explaining the social media bubble and targeting towards kids with “school popularity” marketing was a new take on something quite simple but not something we all realize unless explained to us

Raid definitely is not looking after their current whales. The game is atrocious towards their existing player base. They only care about new players. It might be a treat them mean keep them keen type of mentality but I'm really surprised they have any long time players still.
that's disappointing to hear! Not a player myself but seems like they've amassed quite the player base so not treating them with respect isn't a smart move!
I disagree. Look at the Polymorph change - it only affected the people without a 6-star awakening. It's the same reason they won't nerf Taras and Marichka. The whales would riot and that could actually cost them something. Now I'm not saying that there aren't whales leaving the game, there definitely are (i.e. MacChan) but there are plenty of them left who are still spending.
The only time I have ever seen them backtrack on a decision is when people aren't spending money like they expected - for example, Primal shards being lowered from roughly $8 each to $5 - $6.
I mean, that's the Riot Games Mentality too, except for Riot, they will never crumble cause they have managed to outlast their expected expiry date. They can do w/e they want and their players will either stay the same with the amount of people leaving being replaced with new players entering.
It's heavily AGGRESSIVE now on microtransactions. It's wild. They have battle passes that requires you to purchase even more than you normally would to get the one skin that they would've sold separately 8yrs ago. Rip.
A lot of these companies will start fantastic, REALLY fun, so you spread the word, and you even spend money on it, then suddenly they boom in popularity and now they slowly slide in shitty practices and suddenly GAMBLING is in the game, they tak on skins to passes, so you're pass blocked to a skin you would only spend $10-$15 on, now you gotta spend $25 on it. Lmao.
Raid and Riot are essentially the same in their tactics.

I am so addicted on this game. They have Ronda Rousey, Xena the warrior princess, Ninja content creator as actusl heroes. You cant see that in any other mobile games.
I had a feeling this was the case, I realy hate play to win games. I don't care about games where you only pay for skins but not for the ability to win.
It seems to have effected mainstream games, I feel DLC and loot boxes and other pay for crap should all be banned on a game you pay for.
Should be a season pass or whatever and nothing else.
This is just like gambling apart from you don't win any money and apart from a tiny percent the house allways wins..
This is realy teaching kids how to gamble and to be honest I have never seen such a self destructive activity like gambling.
I'm thankful as once as a child my father said I could have pocket money or double the pocket money if I used it in his bars fruit machine, I took double and won nothing, the only times I have gambled since was just when I was in a Casino and gambled a a couple of dollars for the free food and drink..
The closest main road to me has 2 betting shops and one "amusements" low payout fruit machines and digital casino games.
They also have them in the betting shops but people will spend lots of money on them as in the same as in a nice casino.
I've seen people loose everything from it.
