      People don’t realize how often dogs jump, dig through, even chew through fences during 4th of July. The fireworks freak em out and they go fight or flight mode. My dog hides and I know damn well he’d run away if it wasn’t for my fence being tall enough and him being inside during that time

      This video was posted years ago but fellow pet owners I NEED HELP! Long story short: we’ve had an outdoor stray cat for 12 years. We finally took her to the vet today and she actually has a microchip! 😖 Now I want to know that if I look up her past owners information will it automatically alert them or do I have to manually contact them? The microchip company is Avida of that helps with my question.

      I woke up one morning to a beautiful, white, medium sized dog (I want to say a sheppard but it was a while ago) curled up on my front steps. Well behaved, polite, friendly guy. Fed, watered him and put on a leash as I didn't want him wondering the roads anymore and getting hurt. Could tell he was missing "his people" as he sat up with his ears cocked and his tail wagging everytime he heard a car going down our street and then he'd "heavy sigh" when they just drove by. I put a call into our local radio station and they announced a "found dog" in between sets (I live in a small city). I received a call from a woman who was visiting from out of town with her dog that had gotten frightened by people setting off fireworks the night before and bolted. The dog on my step was soooo happy when this young woman showed up in a van with her husband and 3 kids to pick him up. They were all so happy to be reunited. I don't know if he was microchipped, didn't get to that. Just wanted to stress how easily your dog can get spooked, run and get lost. My family's new little addition, a beagle named "Peanut" was just spayed 2 days ago and I had her chipped at the same time. The more ways you have of being able to identify your pet the better. Municipal pet licenses can also help identify your pet. It would be very helpful if veterinarians or municipalities would offer some kind of financial assistance to those pet owners of lower incomes (vet fees are crazily high). I strongly believe that every child/family deserves a pet, whether low income, middle class or well off can't afford vet due to high costs. Municipalities should consider that when trying to deal with their "stray animal" population.

  • @TwistedBranchAussies
    @TwistedBranchAussies 9 лет назад +70

    Some of you commenters are complete idiots. First, the microchip is barely more painful then a vaccination. I have microchipped hundreds of dogs and most don't even flinch. Second, there is no minimum age for microchipping, although they can be difficult to implant in small puppies. We use mini microchips which are less uncomfortable for the dog and easier when working with small breeds or puppies. There are many great reasons to microchip your pet. If your pet goes to a shelter, most cities are only required to hold them for 72 hours and then they can be euthanized. However, if a microchip is scanned, they will automatically hold the dog for 10 days while attempting to locate an owner. Additionally, many dogs are stolen and sold for laboratory testing each year, but if the dog has a microchip, it can't be purchased for laboratory testing. If you think this is butchering, then I supposed you feel the same way about spay/neuter, which is part of the reason why 7,000 dogs are euthanized in animal shelters in the US each and every day. People need to educate themselves to prevent the continued travesty of unwanted animals in this country.

    It's sad how many of you would not give your dog a microchip and would rather him getting lost and possible never find him/her. I give IV's to people in the back of an ambulance and that's not wether they want it or not, it's our job to keep them alive and believe me, your dog would like to be microchipped no matter the pain because if they're lost they might die, be kidnapped, wound up homeless, or never see their favorite owners.

      Idiots who can't keep track of their dog or pet shouldn't own them, period, and we're not talking about the pain of the insertion of the chip, pffft, that's a cake walk, it's the effects those chips cause, whether they inevitably break off and migrate into the dogs system causing horrific irreparable neurological harm, and being tiny doesn't make them safe, it's even more dangerous..They can migrate, and not cause as much damage as the ones that break, but less is still horrific, and if you haven't experienced it, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!! People and animals are suffering from these evil chips that work less to help and more to harm, not devoid of intention either. Vets won't say a word. They're banking on these pieces of poison permanently implanted in your pet, then just wait, they'll shove one in you. They have expiration dates. The chips and the chipped.

    I get the nexplanon implant that is much bigger than a chip and the amount of pain from the needle of the numbing process is more painful than that looked. And dogs scruff is pretty loose already, not as tight as human skin so it probably has less resistance and therfore less pain. It's probably less painful than getting your ears pierced with the semi blunt earrings at the mall.
    And you can give them doggy cbd (hemp extract) so it hurts less.

  • @annas241

    Let me enlighten some of you... The microchip is MICRO, it doesn't bother them, some dogs are more sensitive than others and some dogs are just babies, trust me, dogs have personality, too. It doesn't have to hurt for them to not like it. Take a look at the form of birth control for woman that is inserted into the arm. It's a whole STICK that releases hormones, they have to make an incision in the arm, insert the stick of birth control, and let it heal. SAME IDEA. But, a microchip is smaller and they don't have to cut a hole in the dog to get it in. You wouldn't say that giving a child a more painful vaccine is abuse, so how is this abuse? Because there's a needle involved? Did you know that the idea for inserting identification information into people's fingers is becoming a more commonly considered option? No, it might not feel great for a second, but it is convenient and helpful in the long run. Just scan a finger. It hasn't been enforced, but who knows, maybe in ten years they will start it. Just think about stuff, people. Lighting a dog on fire is abuse, making sure it gets home to you instead of killed, is not abuse.

    • @paulmcohen4931
      @paulmcohen4931 6 лет назад +1

      Anna S, You need to enlighten yourself.... Especially on frequencies. Chip resonate with frequencies. Diseases resonate with frequencies as well. Dogs instinctively hide their health problems and you'll never know about them until is too late for successful treatment. Radio frequency devices do not belong to living body. Your birth control stick?.. Ha, ha.... What a silly analogy! However your beloved stick will get you too... Unfortunately.

    • @paulmcohen4931
      @paulmcohen4931 6 лет назад +3

      YES!!! I've found data about fast growing malignant tumors around the microchip area. But there is much more to it.... Chip is a frequency receiver and diseases resonate on certain frequencies. Do your research... This vet is so freaky with her alien voice... Run away from freaks, and save your pets.

    how can this vet (and all those who commented likewise) say it doesn't hurt when you obviously can see this dog's entire body flinched when the microchip needle punctured his skin? Although it won't be a fair comparison because we're much larger than a dog, but this vet (and those commenter who agreed that it doesn't hurt) should have a chip put in their back and see how painful it is. maybe then you would consider injecting a little bit of local anesthesia before microchipping. no one likes needles and dogs are no exception.

    So apparently you all are saying that loosing your pet forever is better than letting a small,literally harmless chip go into your dog?
    1. It does not hurt them they are fine
    2. Getting your child microchipped is WAY more different than getting a dog microchipped! There’s something called dog breeds. There can be huge litters of dogs that look the same. And almost all of them go to different people. Or they stay with the person which makes it harder! Us humans are more likely to have twins or a single child. Every child looks different. We humans have markings that can be different from almost everybody else in the world. Dogs on the other hand could end up having similar coats. There is a HUGE difference!
    If that’s what you all are going about you need to wake up. If it’s religion I get it. But honestly still. Would you rather loose a life time of amazing fun with your pet or just be suffering and worried about them if they get lost?
    Microchipping isn’t bad. It helps.

Some registries are "free" but they have poor customer service, so if you have a problem with your login or something your pet could be long gone by the time they get back to you. That is how they terrorize you to keep you information accurate so they can sell it. The system sucks. Before you implant your pet with one of these things, find our more at chipmenot.info

    Microchipping is a good thing. Yes, a SMALL percentage get a little infection but then it heals. I microchipped my cat because he LOVES being outside. I can't put a collar on my cat. Cats like to squeeze through small places. Do you know what that means? That means if he DID have a collar on him and he tried to squeeze through a small place, he could choke himself *AND DIE*. If I put one of the easy release collars on him so he can get it off if he gets stuck so he doesn't, you know, *DIE*, then he might not even have a collar on him if he gets found by someone who thinks he's a stray. What then? I don't want to lose my baby. I love him with all my heart. I don't want him to get put down because people thought he was a stray.
    Also, to the people who were saying it's 'against god' to care and keep track of your pets... I'm Christian. IT ISN'T IN THE DAMN BIBLE. Why don't you stop and read the full thing, not just snippets?
    So much SHIT has been caused because people just read small portions of the literature and not the full thing.
    An example:
    "Being Gay is a sin"
    ... lol no it isn't.
    If you read the full thing then you will also notice that Jesus aid there was nothing WRONG with being gay. Need proof?
    wouldjesusdiscriminate.org/biblical_evidence/born_gay.html
    There ya go.
    Also, should probably mention:
    *It is NOT our place to JUDGE people and condemn them to HELL. Get off your high horses and stop following RELIGION. Start following GOD.*
    To Atheists:
    I can understand your point of view. At one point in time I was in your place. There is nothing wrong with what you believe, but please do not be hateful to others because of it. Hate doesn't help anybody or make anyone feel better about themselves. I want to apologize for any and everyone that was hurtful towards you because of your beliefs.
    To Religious Peoples:
    Don't. Hate. Stop. It isn't our place to judge and tell people they are wrong. It says so in the bible. Do NOT force your religion on others, especially if they make it obvious they are NOT INTERESTED. If people are hateful towards you because of your beliefs, then forgive, forget, and move on. Do not respond. People who feel the need to hate are hurting themselves more than anything.
    And finally, to YOU, dear reader:
    Yes, I am aware I am a hypocrite in some ways. I have judged people even though I have just said not to. It's in our nature. HOWEVER, this does not give you an excuse to do so. Try and stop yourself from judging. It just makes you feel bad overall.. as well as makes the person receiving the negativity feel awful. Thank you for reading. I hope you have a good day. :)

      Paul M Cohen That's not animal abuse. Kicking , beating , throwing , cutting ears , duck taping dogs mouth shut, Skinning your dog to death ,and dog fights. That's abuse. Getting your dog spayed/fixed and chipped is not abuse. The chip is to help so your dog will come home if him or her is lost. Because the dog could end up at a shelter. But when they go look for a chip or any ID they wouldn't find anything and put your dog up for adoption. Or if you have a female dog you would have to worry about her getting pregnant and have to take care of her then take care of the puppies and find them homes when it's time for them to go to a good home.

Seriously you are chipping your pet,someone you love. if you lost a dog, is it easier to find it if there's a chip literally showing where it is or having no Idea where to start looking for it. exactly. it doesn't harm the dog. It doesn't cause any detriment to it either. Grow up.

    So if we do it to pets? Doesn't sound too far-fetched that the government could do it to us? But keeping that a secret forever? Chances slim and none. I thought the tracker delivered through a syringe was absolutely impossible. Now to me it seems that it only depends on the size of the syringe. Hmmm?

      +V. Smith Yes almost any dog is nervous to go to the vet. You may hear other people sometimes, "Oh yeah, he was really excited to go on a trip, but when he found out it was the vet, he hid.Not sure why they get so nervous, probably because they're not used to a bunch of people holding him down and poking him everywhere, but it usually gives a good outcome.

      Actually the acute inflammatory response lasts about 3 days and then drops off as the animals defense system tries to encapsulate it, over a period of about a month. People who monitor the inflammatory markers in their pets that enter competitions, say the inflammatory markers never return to baseline. So the pet carries the inflammatory burden as long as they bear the burden of the chip.
