my home town kennesaw georgia located on barrett parkway next to optimum aquarium , the location was once a movie theater and is very large inside the shop
It is an awesome Hobby Shop. Anything you could want is there. Like you said , " if you don't see it & it is available, they will order it for you". Not only is the staff friendly & helpful. They are knowledgeable of the products they sell. This is a rare commodity in today's retail world. Thanks for the tour Tim. Like you said, " video does not do it justice". So for anyone watching, if you are visiting the Atlanta area, do yourself a favor and make time to visit this store. It is very impressive to say the least. Thanks again Tim.
Now that's the kind of Hobby Shop that will break the bank account. Love the way they display the kit boxes. That really is a "Look at me, Buy me" display idea. Thanks for sharing this one Tim. Love it.
my favorite place. they get new stuff on Thursdays. Burt and Kevin are awesome resources and great people to just talk models. I always leave there with more than I needed. Just a great place, customers are really fun to talk to also. never have I met a bad person there. always happy people that enjoy the hobby.
I was lucky enough work near the shop and stopped by as often as I could. Bert is a great guy on the latest kits and Kevin is a great resource for all things dealing with anything military.
They are in my backyard and try my best to support them. Nothing like walking into a hobby shop and seeing something in person vs online. Just like the old days. Just a thrill to walk in and buy a kit off the shelf. Always super friendly staff. A local modeling club usually meets there and it's just off the I75 interstate exit. Very easy to get to it.
Great video. I'm a two-time US champion in the Gunpla Builders World Cup (GBWC) and creator of a waterslide decal line (Mecha Decals) that just went into the Hobby Town catalog this week. I'm also hoping to go to Atlanta at the beginning of the new year, so I might have to stop by and say hi. The Gundam building community is definitely growing in the US, but still pales in comparison to most Asian countries. I've been to Tokyo twice for the GBWC World Championships and the hobby stores over there are the size of grocery stores here in the states. It's pretty amazing. Our IPMS presence is also getting much bigger and better too. You can find Gundam tables overflowing with entries. It's great to see. The creative freedom you have with these kits is beyond compare and they're a ton of fun. I highly recommend taking one and giving it the full treatment. You'll end up wish something really cool. :)
Growing up in the late 1960’s to mid 1970’s we had two hobby shops in my town in Delaware County PA, plus one $5 & $10…Saving our allowance, we were always excited to go and buy model plane, ship, and WWII diorama kits and all the hobby paints, glues, x-acto knives, and such. I kinda miss those days. I was a stickler for detailing every model and even painted the pilot’s eyes and uniforms.
I see that many gundam kits every week day We sell them like hotcakes Gundam is my main hobby but like most of us in the shop we tend to dip into other hobbies as well but most of us have a specialty that we know the most about For me it’s the gundam/sci-fi kits and figures Thanks for stopping by it’s awesome to see this pop up in my recommended videos!

A great tour through this big hobby shop. Really very big. There should be more for everyone than there is space for in his home. Very cool! Nice presented, Tim. have a nice weekend Greetings, Joachim
I work here in the Train Department, and I really appreciate your tour of our store! (BTW, this was an old-school movie theatre and the floors were flat. I’d wondered about that too, when I first came to work there!)
Aaaaaa ok, thank you for that bit of info Doug. Are you a member of the club who put the Train Layout in up front? I know I found their videos very interesting, that is why I mentioned and showed their RUclips channel.
I live only 30 minutes from Kennesaw, and never new I had such a gem of a store in my backyard. I will be heading there this weekend. Thanks for getting the word out.
You at the 1:00 mark this is a kit I never seen before. I built this for the 2021 Big Rig Group build. And you left a comment. 😆 Funny. It's in my channel videos. Great job showing this great hobby shop. Thanks again Tim 🐭👍
I would say thanks for the tour but I am there at least twice a month. in the summer I just stop to cool down, and I end up buying something. great video.
You made me think of my dad and his 1st RC airplane he built It was A P40 Mustang It took Dad 9 months to build that kit His 1st Flight did not go so well the wings broken In half Back to the ground it came back into kit Form I remember that day like it was yesterday But that did not stop dad the next week he was building the same kit again No problems flying that RC plane
This Hobbytown is the best one I've ever been to. Lucky enough to live nearby. Burt and Kevin are both extremely knowledgeable in the plastic model section and associated history.
Yeah looks like a super dangerous expensive but cool place Love the Carreras too I've always wanted at least one set since I first saw one in the early 2000s
Great tour. That place is huge! We have a couple of RC crawlers. I have a crawling course set up her at the house. It takes a 1/2 hour to run start to finish. I'm gonna pick up a Gundam I think. I had no idea that there were so many!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for your review of HobbyTown USA Kennesaw GA. It is wonderful to watch. Now at 84 years of age and unable to get around as before I sure would enjoy such a visit in person. I do however wish to add a negative note to your fine work. You reviewed the model paint section and proceeded to move 3 bottles of various paint. When you completed your move you neglected to return the 3 to the place they started from. This may sound petty but if everyone passing through did the same consider the disarrangement of the products. Set a good example. Regards, Len
Awesome job on covering the largest hobby shop in USA. They do have everything looks like. I could go broke real quick in that place. LOL. I have been to the streen wheel regatta before in Huntington, WV. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend buddy. Terry
I do like this store! I was disappointed when the one in Brea went out of business. But when I moved to Nebraska, there were two here in the greater Omaha area! Good ones! They have great kits, paints and building supplies. Friendly people too.
I have lots of great memories of time in that space! We were excited when the theater opened, with 8 screens you knew there would be able to catch your favorite flick. It was a great place to take a date and the game room was the best of any theater in the area. I am pretty sure that I have spent more time there (definitely more money) there since it has been a Hobbytown. I used to take my son there when they had a Thomas the Train section and he loved playing on the train tables. Ever since the LHS that I used to frequent closed, Hobbytown Kennesaw has filled that gap. They do a great job of having knowledgeable staff in every section of the store. Each section of the store feels like its own Local Hobby Shop.
Very very very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just brought back a NICE flood of memories as I always took my Son to our local HobbyTown so he could play on the Thomas the Train layout too. (my Son is 20 now, how old is yours now?) The entire time I was in there I was trying to picture it as a movie theater. I love old nostalgia and/or history so it was really cool to read what you had to say about the shop!
Yeah I happen to get lucky enough to be sent to Yamaha training school for outboard motors for my work and I was able to go to that hobby shop and yeah I had to mail some kits back here cause I bought too many lol couldn’t bring them back on the plane thank you for the video awesome
Wow! This is the way to survive with a hobby shop - plenty of different hobbies, tables for gaming, and affordable rent. I live near Nicholas Smith near Philly and it's similar to this shop.
I live in Winder, GA and this was the 2nd hobby shop I had been to. I'm an rc racer myself. Also was into model cars for a long time. Great video! I remember hearing it used to be a movie theater.
This is my Hobby shop and Kevin and Bert are both awesome. I think what Bert was saying is that the store, in its current location in the former movie theater, has been there since 2002. But they were in the same plaza a few stores down (I think where D. Gellar and Sons is now), for a few years before that. I used to shop there as early as the late 90s. So they moved from Austell much earlier than 2002.
@@THROTTLEPOWER I just got back into military scale models last year after a 20 year break. And wow, the hobby has changed a lot in those 2 decades. Thanks for the great video - I subscribed to your cool channel too.
@@aleks1939 Cool, I enjoy building tanks (have 3 on the bench now) and yes, the hobby has changed a bunch in the last 2 decades. Glad you enjoyed the vid and hope you enjoy the future vids! I know you will enjoy my AndysHHQ unboxing vid (because of what I ordered) that I'll have out in a week or so.
This is my favourite store . I’m there all the time. The guy that talking to you is a wealth of information . Also I have never seen it that packed with stuff . Man it would’ve been so awesome to run into you while recording that
I’ve been into the rc hobby since the late 80’s. Started out with the Tyco’s and got my first Tamiya Clodbuster in 89 and I’ve had like 25 of them through the years and I currently still have 22 of them. I still have 2 or 3 sets of axles where I can build some more trucks. I have 2 Tamiya Ford Aeromax tractor trailers and 4 Losi LMT’s in which 3 are in various stages of under construction and one is brand new in the box still. Currently taking a break from my rc’s to focus on some other things, but I plan on getting back into in 2023.
This is crazy, I haven't been up that way in 20 years, but I remember going to that movie theatre when I was up that way visiting family in my late teens.
Great video, buddy. Every time I go in I seem to discover something new. It is truly AMAZING!!! And I think a bucket list location for any scale modeler. And always a must visit for any new Tuber who comes to ACME for first time. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. They have more Tamiya military kits than the Tamiya shop here in Seoul. I'll have to stop by one when I am visiting the US next month. Thank you very much for sharing.
Just stopped by the other week and it was amazing. I've been going to the one in Buford for years as it's right by my house. Their current location now in its entirety is smaller then just the RC room at Kennesaw.
OMG. I've been to ACME in Atlanta five times now and I have never been there. They sure have some great kits. This is now on my bucket list 😜. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Anybody in the Metro Atlanta area remember Auto Motif? Was the best model shop ever! Been gone for probably 15-20 years now. It was very disorganized, but so much fun to scrounge around and find surprises. Mostly car kits and dealer cars. Wasin the Smyrna Ga area.
I haven't been in this shop for a while since I don't get to Atlanta as much as I used to. But I bought quite a few of my Die-Cast cars there, as well as many model kits over the years.
OMG, what an awesome hobby store, definitely my kind of store, my favorite hobby is TRAINS, THAT IS HO SCALE TRAINS, NEW OR USED!! THEM CERTAINLY LOOKED LIKE USED ROLLING STOCK, IN THEM BOXES BELOW, I'D CERTAINLY BUY SEVERAL OF THEM ITEMS, EVEN USED LOCOMOTIVES IF THEY HAD SOME. GREAT VIDEO!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WITH ME 😁☺️👌😉👍, What's SAD ABOUT THIS, IS WE HAD A HOBBYTOWN AT Our MALL MANY, MANY, YEARS AGO, BUT THEY CLOSED IT, AND MOVED OUT, JUS SAD SO WE LONGER HAVE IT. ITS BEEN GONE FOR OVER 20 SOME YEARS NOW..😭😭😭
I built a scale covered bridge for the rc crawler corse this summer. Wish i would've done my roof like the on the train layout in the beginning of the video. Hobby shops use to be like this in the 70s.
I remember when it was a theater back in early 90s. Slope for seats was not that steep. It was pretty rough. Last vestige of early 80s on Barrett Parkway. Great store, always had a great experience there.
Cool video Tim. Thanks for sharing. So I have done a few Gundams, and i will make a full video on them..they are cool kits to build..I have weather one and it's got battle damage super cool..
I live in Greenville S.C. and our hobbytown USA closed up many years ago.Im glad there still around.I had to order my model kit from Amazon and it came from the UK.Its a Hobbyboss YF-23 in 1/48 scale.I would love to go to the one in Atlanta it looks cool.I also fly R/C planes.
Sadly they are closing way to often Steven. Have always wanted to fly R/C Planes, there sure are some really nice planes offered now. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Just found your vlog. Very cool place, need to visit sometime. I have 3 rc cars in storage and haven't run them for years. My favorite one was a HPI nitro powered race car with a 2 speed gear box, very fast and fun. Might have to get mine out of retirement. Thanks for sharing!👍👌
Another fantastic video, a must for anybody wanting to do these type of videos on how to do it. I am not sure if you know about or maybe filmed it back in the day but we had a Longs Drug store in Moreno Valley Ca. and they had a secret room in the back and it was a world class train store. It is sadly gone now.
I've heard something about that in the past Jim and always wondered if it was true. How long ago was that and do you know what is there now and or if the building is still there?
@@THROTTLEPOWER The building is still there but they removed the train store in the back, YES I should have filmed it. I would say maybe 15 years ago its was there. He did great business, I do not know if it was a corporate/owner thing. It was like a Welcome to Ca. you want to go Longs Drugs store or Grunnion Hunting?
Grunion Hunting is a real thing and is very fun, basically catching Sardines in the sand, everyone from the east coast thinks it is a Snip Hunt and won't go.
Thanks for sharing Tim, the wife and I was talking about checking this one out next May when we go to Florida........hope you had a great Thanksgiving bud.......The Bearded Guy
@@THROTTLEPOWER I had the "King Kong" kit shown at the 9:45 mark. I used to like putting together models, usually of cars. Sometimes, they'd turn out okay, but other times, they came out looking ugly. Maybe I put too much glue on them and it would get all over the model, or maybe I was in a hurry to get it done. The point is that I wasn't always too good at making models. Some of them turned out to be too complicated for me. (A few of them were gifts from someone else, so they probably didn't know how hard they were for me.) Other times, I would get glue or paint all over my fingers, and they were usually a pain in the a** to wash off! Finally, I got so tired and frustrated with it, that I just gave up! I haven't touched a modeling kit ever since, and I don't think I would even try to make one of those things today. Besides, I prefer the ready-made diecast model cars and trucks, which I saw this store had some. Incidentally, Tim, I don't think you showed enough of them, just about a minute of them or so. You also didn't show much of the trains. I would have liked to see them run on their tracks for a few minutes. Aside from that, it was a pretty good video.
@@michaelpalmieri7335 You brought back many great memories of building the Monster kits when I was a kid!!!!! Those were great times. Glad you enjoyed the vid and I'm sorry I didn't show the trains running.
You actually saved me a trip into Kennesaw with this video as you went past a few of the shelves I frequent and I didn't see anything new. Yes, I know it's been two months but they don't get new stock that often on some items. They have been a bit short on 1/32 aircraft kits, for instance. The Revell 1969 Camaro SS 396 kit on one of the end caps I just finished a few days ago. Wonder Woman is next (for my wife). The location a bit further northeast in Buford is smaller but has a larger variety of model car kits than Kennesaw.
WOW 😲 Brother I really shouldn't go to that store for multiple reasons LOL 😂 But this was an amazing tour of the place and I already seen too much.. Kinda jittery by the time you get to the RC stuff.. Great video and hope you have a good one 😎👍
It is very impressive! Our company did all of the electrical work when they built the theatre out. Not sure if it's the original owner but they were great folks!!!!
Very cool Will, thanks for the info. From what I've been told it's the same owners since moving in to take over the theater. Didn't meet the owners but ALL the workers were really nice!
Indeed! If anybody is into these hobbies it's definitely better to check them out. Customer service was there best asset from what I remember. Great tour!!!! There was only 3 of us when we built that out. Brought back alot of memories.
I worked for this owner. He started in austell ga with a shop the size of a Beauty salon on austell road. I worked in the plastic kits and the rc department. Back in the 90s
Great video 👍Reminds me of all the great hobby stores that used to be around. Used to be a Hobbytown USA within 2 miles from me near a ToysRus which is also gone. Hobby People was another nice hobby store. Sadly they all went out a business. Only 1 local hobby store near me now. Closest Hobbytown is about 50 mi. away. ☹

Wow! This is the way to survive with a hobby shop - plenty of different hobbies, tables for gaming, and affordable rent. I live near Nicholas Smith near Philly and it's similar to this shop.
I agree!!!! Very cool, I have heard of that Hobby Shop but have never been. Want to stop by some day.
I live in Winder, GA and this was the 2nd hobby shop I had been to. I'm an rc racer myself. Also was into model cars for a long time. Great video! I remember hearing it used to be a movie theater.
Very cool, so glad you enjoyed the vid!
Wow! Very cool hobby shop. If I lived closer I'd surely take a trip there and buy something. Awesome video thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed the vid Jim, yes, it's a GREAT shop!
From France 🇫🇷 Belle vidéo 👌 😉. Super 👌 👍.
Thank you my friend 👍 🙂 👌 😊
@@THROTTLEPOWER 👍 😉
This is my Hobby shop and Kevin and Bert are both awesome. I think what Bert was saying is that the store, in its current location in the former movie theater, has been there since 2002. But they were in the same plaza a few stores down (I think where D. Gellar and Sons is now), for a few years before that. I used to shop there as early as the late 90s. So they moved from Austell much earlier than 2002.
Aaaaaa very cool!!! Everyone in there was really nice which made the visit that much more enjoyable. Are you an RC guy, train or Model guy?
Nice selection of Die Casts too!!
There really was!!
Nice kit selection!!
I think so too!
This is my favourite store . I’m there all the time. The guy that talking to you is a wealth of information . Also I have never seen it that packed with stuff . Man it would’ve been so awesome to run into you while recording that
He sure was knowledgeable. And yes, it would have been nice to say HI.
Aaaaaaa, very cool Wayne!!
This is crazy, I haven't been up that way in 20 years, but I remember going to that movie theatre when I was up that way visiting family in my late teens.
Very cool, the entire time I was there I was trying to picture it as a movie theater.
Great video, buddy. Every time I go in I seem to discover something new. It is truly AMAZING!!! And I think a bucket list location for any scale modeler. And always a must visit for any new Tuber who comes to ACME for first time. Thanks for sharing.
It defiantly is Tommy!
outstanding shop. many kind thanks for sharing dude. will visit soon. bless the USA
Right on, so glad you enjoyed!
I live in Acworth and work in Kennesaw
, and it’s my go to hobby shop! Love that place😁
Very cool!!! 🙂👍
They closed the one here a couple of years ago. Thanks for sharing Tim
Sad but to many are closing Mike.
Wow. They have more Tamiya military kits than the Tamiya shop here in Seoul.
I'll have to stop by one when I am visiting the US next month.
Thank you very much for sharing.
So glad you liked the vid Joshua, I really think you will enjoy your visit there.
Just stopped by the other week and it was amazing. I've been going to the one in Buford for years as it's right by my house. Their current location now in its entirety is smaller then just the RC room at Kennesaw.
Glad you enjoyed it!
OMG. I've been to ACME in Atlanta five times now and I have never been there. They sure have some great kits. This is now on my bucket list 😜. Thanks for sharing 👍.
You'll enjoy it! 👍🙂
👍👍👍👍👍
I haven't been in this shop for a while since I don't get to Atlanta as much as I used to. But I bought quite a few of my Die-Cast cars there, as well as many model kits over the years.
Very cool, defiantly a GREAT place to get that stuff!!
That is an awesome Hobby Store, would love to have hobby store like this locally.
It really is!!!!
ITS BEEN GONE FOR OVER 20 SOME YEARS NOW..😭😭😭
So glad you enjoyed the video! 👍🙂 And yes, it's sad that most of the hobby shops are closing down.
Absolutely mind blowing. There truly are no words. And the place is spotless. How could you go in there and not leave $1,000 every time?
I agree Kevin!
I love hobby town usa they always have a great selection but this store is massive
So true!!
Happy Thanksgiving! Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the kind words Marty and Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!!
I built a scale covered bridge for the rc crawler corse this summer. Wish i would've done my roof like the on the train layout in the beginning of the video. Hobby shops use to be like this in the 70s.
Oh wow, I bet the course is really cool Keith!!! So true, back in the 70's they were all like this.
Now that's a big store for sure like to have one around were I am humm road trip 👍
It really is!!
I remember when it was a theater back in early 90s. Slope for seats was not that steep. It was pretty rough. Last vestige of early 80s on Barrett Parkway. Great store, always had a great experience there.
Very cool, I know when I was there I was trying to picture it as a movie theater.
Cool video Tim. Thanks for sharing.
So I have done a few Gundams, and i will make a full video on them..they are cool kits to build..I have weather one and it's got battle damage super cool..
Very cool, I know the one I did was fun. Looking forward to the vids!
Oh wow, yea, those are FAST!!!!! Heck yea, get em out and run em. 👍🙂
Very cool!!! Gonna have to put this on my list of places to check out.
I think you will really enjoy the visit!
It is an impressive hobby town, :)
It really is Tom!
Quite a few slot car sets too!!
Exactly Tom!!
Out of a dream, amazing shop! nice Video too!
So glad you enjoyed.......... 👍🙂
@@Moondoggy1941 Hmmmm, ok, very interesting Jim. Thanks for sharing.
Grunion Hunting is a real thing and is very fun, basically catching Sardines in the sand, everyone from the east coast thinks it is a Snip Hunt and won't go.
@@Moondoggy1941 👍👍
I live just west of ATL. , and have yet to visit that store. I know if and when I do , I will spend way to much money in there. It's amazing!!!
It's truely an amazing store ......... And yes, I spent to much money when I went.
Thanks for sharing Tim, the wife and I was talking about checking this one out next May when we go to Florida........hope you had a great Thanksgiving bud.......The Bearded Guy
It's worth stopping at Jeff, hope you have a nice Thanksgiving weekend too!
When I was a kid . There were two things I constantly said one was ' comic book shop ' the other was ' hobby shop '😛
Oh yea!!!!!!!!! 👍🙂
Wow !!! At 8:26 I had that Godzilla model kit as a kid. Cool !!!
Very cool!!!!
@@THROTTLEPOWER
I had the "King Kong" kit shown at the 9:45 mark.
Oh ok, good to know about the other location.
WOW 😲
Brother I really shouldn't go to that store for multiple reasons LOL 😂 But this was an amazing tour of the place and I already seen too much.. Kinda jittery by the time you get to the RC stuff.. Great video and hope you have a good one 😎👍
So glad you enjoyed the tour Jimmy 🙂👍 Have a great Thanksgiving weekend.... 🍗🦃
Never heard of this place! Very interesting!!!
It's really cool Annie!
@@willshortland8150 Glad to hear Will and thank you for the kind words!
Looks like I'm going to Atlanta lol great video buddy
It's a GREAT shop!!
I worked for this owner. He started in austell ga with a shop the size of a Beauty salon on austell road. I worked in the plastic kits and the rc department. Back in the 90s
Aaaaa very cool!!!!!!
Did you work for Auto Motif? I just commented on that. The fellow I remember at AM was pretty old 20 or so years ago.
Wow! I've never seen so many gundam models either! That was a really amazing store. Wish we had something like that here in PA. Nice video
So glad you enjoyed the vid Quinn!
Closest Hobbytown is about 50 mi. away. ☹
Yes, unfortunately the hobby shops are closing to fast Bob. Glad you enjoyed the vid. 🙂👍
HI Tim Man,, I haven't been to a hobby shop in year's and after being here I feel like I been in at least ten in the last few minutes,, awesome video dude,, have a great week ahead brother later Glen
Glad you enjoyed the vid Glen and thank you for the kind words!
Hi Tim, that was a absolutely aso e tour through the Honny Store, I really think you were a bit like a kid going through a candy store , it certainly had a great selection, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.

I think I visited that hobby shop back in the early to mid 2000's... Didn't it have several commercial 8 lane slot car tracks in one of the theater wings?
Not sure Bob, hopefully someone will chime in that knows.
Yes an American Red, a Blue King and I think a big tri-oval. If I remember correctly. You'd by track time at the old ticket counter.
