"By Grabthar's hammer... what a savings." That is still to this day one of my favorite movie line deliveries. The amount of vitriol and self loathing Rickman was able to squeeze into that line is absolutely amazing.

+Nitpicking Nerd Basic scriptwriting. It goes through a three-part sequence of meaning: first the empty bravado of the original TV line, then the horrible experience at the stereo store, and lastly the redemptive declaration to Quailig. Triple beats are one of the basics of writing a movie.

One of things that Galaxy Quest doesn't get enough credit for is being very accessible to people who haven't watched Star Trek. This movie is simply amazing in every way, giving a tongue in cheek poke at fandom and at the same time be a homage to that same fandom. The actors all do an amazing job, perfectly balancing slightly over the top performances with glorious professionalism, not to mention that each of these characters have more substance, story arc and soul than what all the characters in modern Star Trek and Star Wars have put together.
And then there's Alan Rickman.... It still breaks my heart that he's not with us anymore, such a great actor. His passing was a true loss, he truely was one of a kind.

I have long said what makes this movie so brilliant is that it mocks so much of fan and science fiction culture, and then turns around and uses it at every turn, including using the fans to save the day. And even when it is mocking them, you still get the feeling that the writers are themselves those kind of fans so they are doing it with so much love. It's never mean or vicious, allowing us to laugh at ourselves.

It was reported that after Tim Allen did the scene apologizing to the leader, he needed a moment to come down from that scene. Alan Rickman was reported to have said "Oh my God, I think that was the first time he acted." Or something like that.
Nothing but love for this movie here. Everyone should watch it once.

Not often you see a movie full of talent. Well executed, with actors and directors who seem to have loved making it.
