I do too for retro gaming up to about 2006 or so, but after that the games started supporting widescreen very well and in turn not quite supporting 4:3 properly, as you can see in this video, so want it or not gotta use LCD for modern gaming. When it comes to VGA compatibility what you're looking for is "DVI-I" which is the DVI connector with all 4 flat spade connectors on one side that carry analog RGB signals. "DVI-D" is the digital only version of the DVI connector that lacks those flat pins and won't even plug in.

DVI-I or DVI-A ports support analog CRTs via DVI to VGA adapters. Dual-link DVI ports were for 1440p and 1600p displays.
For the beige keyboard/mouse combo, you can find USB to PS2 adapters.
If you want the king of all CRTs though, you need to look for a 19 or 21 inch FD Trinitron display. I had a pair of Dell 19” screens, and could run then at 2304x1792@60hz, 1920x1440@85hz, and 1280x1024@160hz. The card I had at the time couldn’t do refresh rates faster than 160hz.

The speaker holder thing is meant to hold a 80mm fan. A popular mod would be to cut a hole for a 120. I think ThermalTake or LianLi also makes a thing that uses 3 5.25 drive bays for a 120mm fan.

USB floppy drive controllers are on ebay, so are SATA adapters for IDE devices like beige CDROMs. An intake can be fitted to the lower 5.25 bay. Many of the late desktop cases also had venting in the top panel, towards the back. You could replicate this easily enough but it'd take a couple hours to do it right. As for your single PS/2 port, there's a good chance that it uses the spare pins to support a passive splitter cable. Cheap solution.
And just take stuff from the recycling dump, don't ask. Just take it.

Definitely do a badass sleeper. Cut out all the interior panels and put in custom acrylic panels. You should get one of those old destination monitors that gateway did. I had a 32" with my p2 400.
    That degauss tho... Thank you.

So I guess I *AM* the lucky guy you were saying about. I found a Dell E772c monitor on Kijiji for C$15. I had to drive there and get it myself, but I was also with my friends so we had a good time there anyways. Now, it's not working well out of the box, but it turned out that this thing just had spider webs inside shorting out, and it worked perfectly after I opened it up and cleaned all the spider webs and dust.
After a thorough cleaning (And risk getting myself killed, I know), my CRT turned out to be in a perfect physical condition, and the picture is decently bright and completely burn-in free, though it isn't the sharpest thing because I am running 1280x1024 60Hz on this thing which has a designed resolution of 1024x768 75/85Hz (different aspect ratio)

I have a couple of old ass IBMs(with the BIG ass floppy drives) that my grandma got in the mid 80`s(I used them in the 90`s lol)... I was just going to refurbish them, but her damn basement flooded a few times and they are in REALLY bad shape. So now they will be SUPER sleepers soon :)

VGA works fine to dvi for me for my custom arcade cabinet. Getting the build in micro chip is a must if you use over three monitors still though.

I remember EposVox talking about the last gpu's that have dvi-i connectors in his CRT video. Went back to watch and the last ones with it were the R9 380x and the GTX 980ti.

We had a flat tube HD CRT about 15 years ago. I regret that we gave it away, we could have hooked up the computer to it and I could be playing games, lol.

keep it like this. nostagia. You can put in 80mm fan in front but those cases are really restrictive. It would be nice to do a watercooled version with case which is less in shape.

Some of the last high end crt monitors which where produced are still really good for modern gaming. The Sony Gdm FW900 is probably the most popular of them but there a A LOT of good models.
crts aren't for everyone these days but they can deliver you an amazing experience If you're OK with the shortcomings (only analog inputs, weight and size, sometimes price, could need maintenance). Personally I don't think I can ever find anything comparable to my Sony GDM F520. Payed 50 Bucks for a used one and it's been AMAZING since

The monitor should be good for emulating old consoles or older pc games that run at 4:3.
And if you could rotate the cooler round to draw through the psu that should help.

The last crt monitor I had was 22" and it had a max resolution of 2048 x 1536 at 80 Hz, it's specs were better than what you could get in lcd monitors at the time. I gave it away, it was bulky & heavy.

Make a sleeper, but don't hurt the case.
Also, try overclocking the monitor. I have heard that CRTs overclock really well, and some people can even get 300Hz+.

Interlaced modes are great for this.
You don't need the same ridiculous refresh rates you'd need on an LCD/OLED, because there's inherently no motion blur. 120hz CRT looks way sharper _in motion_ than a 240hz 4K OLED

I still have an Samsung Flatron CRT, 19" , the best I had ever saw. I lends it to the neighbor next door some year ago, and he still uses it.
the image quality is very very good (I cost me to go from this CRT to the flat, plasma, lcd or similar monitors, all I saw was worst compared to the crt), refreshing up to 75HZ, and up to 1600x1200 but I usually used it in 1280x1024

Nice! The best CRT monitors are the Trinitrons (and the off brand ones that don't license the Trinitron name. I have a Gateway VX700 which is pretty much a Trinitron but doesn't have the Trinitron badge on it since it's not a Sony monitor). There was some 16:10 aspect ratio monitors made in the early 200s but those are really hard to find these days and are of coarse overpriced and super expensive to get.
Odd that it seems brightness was the issue with monitors you had. The CRT monitors I've come across tended to have issues with convergence instead. They were all bright enough for my needs and didn't seem tired. Only one seemed like it was tiny bit tired and that one I pulled out of a dumpster down the block. (it's a Optiquest Q71 16 or 17 incher. Pretty much a rebadged ViewSonic as the chassis is the same). It was formally owned by an old man and looks like he put a lot of hours into it.
But the 2 other monitors I have, a Dell e771p and the Gateway VX700 are still pretty bright. The Dell e771P being almost perfect with convergence while the Gateway one still has some issues. (seems it's more common for Trinitrons to have convergence problems).
As for Geometry issues, I've only had this problem with TVs. With monitors you generally can fix them from the OSD menu in most cases....Like the pin cushioning of the left side on your monitor. I noticed that near the top left corner of the monitor's image when you were showing it with Windows running instead of the game.
I'd advise you work on adjusting that. ;)
As for that face book seller....yeah $200 is way too much. I got lucky and found 2 CRT monitors on Facebook. Both I got super cheap. The Dell e771p I got for only $5!
Then there's a third monitor I forgot to mention. A Compaq Presario 1525. It came with the original PC it was bundled with! A Compaq Presario 4112 complete with original mouse, keyboard, AND the side mounted speakers that attach to the monitor! It was in really good condition though (It is a mostly beige machine too and had no yellowing so must have spent most of it's life in a bedroom or other room with no direct sunlight. Though a couple random keys on the keyboard have yellowed for some odd reason. ) the optical drive needed to have it's laser replaced. (Turns out most of the parts inside the original drive that came with my Compaq Presario 5000 are all compatible. :D ) and the floppy drive had a metal dust shield cover stuck in it which must have came off a damaged floppy disk. After removing that and cleaning the drive, the floppy drive still worked fine. The monitor is so old it was before OSDs where a thing and used knobs to control screen size/position and brightness. It also has a volume control knob that doubles as the power button for the monitor. Curious as to how that works. Must be using some of the EDID pins on the VGA port to comunicate volume control info and it's not happening via special software (though Compaq did provide a Windows 95 program that gives a graphical display of volume change when the knob is used). I noticed the knob works even in pure DOS mode with just standard sound blaster drivers! I tried to use the volume knob with the newer Compaq Presario 5000 machine and it didn't do anything so must be a trick that's happening with the motherboard chipset.
As for specs it's an old 95/96 era 486 with a 120mhz Pentium with 17MB or so ram. I have since upgraded it to the max it will go which is 72MB. (uses EDO type ram).
I got this entire bundle for only $25 AND the seller was willing to deliver it to me since i don't drive. :D
The monitor needed some convergance adjustments, but managed to get it to acceptable range. It's still pretty bright and sharp despite how old it is. From what I can tell the PC spent most of it's late life in a closet. The machine wouldn't boot up properly until I removed the dust cover out of the floppy drive as it was preventing it from completing it's power on seek test. After I fixed that, the hard-drive had some critical MS-DOS boot files missing so that needed fixing too. The original warranty void sticker was never broken on this machine so they made no attempt to fix the floppy drive. They must have retired the machine when this happened and got a new PC.
As for my main PC it's similar in specs to yours. Though it's got a slightly better i7. A i7 965 extreme edition clocked at 3.2ghz. The graphics card isn't as good though. A Nvidia GTX 650 which is starting to show it's age. I plan to max it to a GTX 980 Ti when I get the money to afford it. It's the last card Nvidia made that supported the VGA connection over DVI.
Technically though you can still use VGA monitors with modern cards. You'd need a HDMI to VGA adapter (or Display port in your case). Not sure about Display port, but with HDMI, it's not native like DVI so required a powered adapter that has active circuitry to convert the signal and it's sub-optimal compared to having a native VGA connection since you have less range with max resolution and some cheaper adapters kill black levels.
I use one with my Nintendo Switch to play it on my Gateway VX700 (use a VGA switch to switch it off PC when I want to play on the console). I was lucky and managed to find a HDMI adapter that didn't mess with the color/brightness range of the signal.
