I loved the Firebird case so much, more the Blackbird actually, wanted one as a standalone case for the longest time. I still occasionally remember Voodoo and look this stuff up.
Slot loading CD rom drives will never go out of style. Would like to put a modern system in this case.

HP was my first computer from Circuit City came with Windows 98 with a pentium 3 & I only paid $1240 for it and lasted me many years of Gaming. Been a fan of HP ever since.💗
I actually like the case it’s niche’. Timmy show them how it’s supposed to be done and throw and itx mobo in there and a small GPU 💥
You brought up the MXM cards and it brought up a question I have had for quite awhile about the upgrade path for those types of graphics cards. I see them listed on ebay a lot and have been curious about how viable it was to upgrade them. Perhaps, with Tylers permission of course, this is something you could explore. I am sure you could make it interesting.

SLI was always hit or miss when I had it between 2008 and 2011. I gave up on it after that, because the majority of the games I played were a micro-stutter hell with both cards enabled.
CoD4:MW and World at War have multi gpu support, could you try those?
I love this so much. I've always been obsessed with really weird early 2000s hardware, and these videos always hit the spot.

i really want to try out a Deep Cool 360 AIO but i have seen ALOT of reviews claiming the AIO would bust or pop and leak out ruining parts, thankfully they all say DeepCool replaced all ruined parts, but thats still alot of hastle.
I tried to import one of these, unsure if it was this specific model, but it got confiscated by customs for being "suspicious" so I never got it (got the money back minus shipping)

The Crysis crashing issue is likely POWER BRICK related BIG T
This would make a neat looking HTPC. I, until recently, used a core 2 duo with 4 GB of RAM and some garbage GPU as a 1080p HTPC for many years.
Athlon 3000g + 8gb dual channel 3000mhz ram is the best htpc these days. Could even plug a controller in and play a few games xd
In 2009 32bit windows was popular and couldnt use more than 4gb of RAM, im not sure when PC games went entirely 64bit but would that be the thought behind the RAM?
I got a pair of those ocz reaper ram sticks, messed about overclocking a bit on a s775 rig, some great ram sticks.

Not a "failed experiment". It was a lot of fun at the time and mine cost $998 on sale at Fry's once the price dropped from $1700 to $1200 under the influence of grey market goods entering the catalog market in influential markets like Manhattan, effecting direct sales to resellers. And you said nothing about how well it ran as a DVR. So you could also watch TV on it with an add-on TV tuner card and record TV to that second card, which at the time was next-level great! And when you simply adjust the frame rate in Crysis itself you can gain an acceptable playback experience.
Its positioning is for airflow and the frame blocks the view of the hard drives, etc. And no they were not RAID configured but you could do to, this reminds me that I had in mine

My 8700k at 5.1 does 225 cinebench - single core.
Well, if the video was about a pc from 2011 with a sandy bridge in it, the difference wouldn't be as big anymore all of the sudden. The performance gain since sandybridge is minimal.
@@budgetking2591 4.7ghz i7- 2600 scores about 165 single and 830 multi; 5.1ghz 8700k is 225 single/1680 multi.
Only 37% better single threaded performance but 100% better multithreaded performance, not insignificant imo.
What's more depressing is Ryzen gen 1 is basically haswell level IPC
It's definitely upgraded on the CPU there if you read the correct original specs. The Q9400 came out after the Q9550, so it's not a later model or anything
It would have came with two 10k or 15k drives, on Sata II it should match that cheapo SSD.
My Firebird is still running like a champ! Plus, the external power supply was the best idea ever.
PS_ I'm thinking of putting new equipment in the case.
q9550 is a desktop chip so doesn't have dynamic acceleration like the mobile chips (ida/ for duo dda for quad= +1 multiplier for one/ two cores).
q9550 is a 95w chip, q9550s is rated at 65w so may be a more viable option for o/c.
You should try a better MXM card in it.

If you haven't already - try using period correct drivers for the GPU's they will have better support for SLI built in.
MXM 3.0... you could put Maxwell and Pascal cards in it 🤔
That cs go final kill and crashing made it 1000x better
I'm going to have to pick up one of those Castle EX 360's. My CoolerMaster ML240L popped at the pump/block and sprayed my entire PC with sticky green coolant a couple hours ago and I wasn't home so it made a nice mess.
Q9400 definitely doesn't turbo to anything, C2Q's didn't have any "turboing" that feature didn't show up until the "i" series'
That wasn't the problem with SLI. From Win 8 and beyond the Nvidia drivers did not support the use of both of its GPU's. So you are not running it as it was configured for use when gaming. Used during its support period you would have had full use of both of its dual graphics cards and if you could overcome that issue now, you would very likely have a far better experience than what you are observing now.
Kind of like the PC that I fixed up that was found on the side of the road. Has AMD Phenom x4 9650 CPU with 4 gb ddr2 ram and a GTX 285. Would've been high end gaming specs from early 2009. It can handle any 3D game made up till about 2012 to 2013. It seems to handle Crysis pretty good.
I used to have a 3870x2 way back-when, and it always worked a treat, never had to enable x-fire or anything, just worked... :D
added another 3870 to it at one point too, so ran triple GPU config for a bit, with no issues in most games (At the time)
not run more than 1 GPU since :)
Maybe it’s because of driver support in windows 7 you could try windows 8.1 if that might help
Your power supply is not original. The original even after the recall and reissue was much larger than that was a big , flat square.
Try to get 2 better MXM Graphicscards...they should be exchangeable 🤔 shouldn't be expensive
Today is a sad day. I finally retired my Firebird, my most beloved PC bought back in 2009. Unfortunately, the machine has just recently started to shutdown randomly. I believe the PSU (I have the original brick where the VooDoo logo lights up pale blue) is starting to fail. Heartbreaking. I honestly thought I would have to say goodbye a couple of years ago but easily replaced the hard drives with SSDs and successfully installed Windows 10 on it!! Surprisingly, it handled the upgraded OS with ease and was working flawlessly up until early last week. And, in fact, I am not ready to give up on it yet .. if anyone knows of a compatible PSU replacement, please let me know.

My GTX980M plays most games with windows 10, when I was on windows 8.1 I was having trouble run most games.
Q9550 Core 2 Quad Squad! Mine has 16gb ddr2 and an rx570 though...
I had this pc and it took me weeks to find the right drivers to play advance games but it is possible after while I knew it was time to let go and sell it to vintage collector. I had it since it came out tho and this is very true every update would fix and create problems. I wanted to make it better it just such a good looking pc every one that came by would be complement the design.
from this thing you can make a E-sports PC with ease,i have a q9550 running at 4.2 ghz and it dosen't bottleneck rx560 4 gb dedicated card,what you can do is upgrade cpu and run newer MXM low power cards which will wake that PC up alot and only limit you might have i that RAM and power supply

Could aways try the omega modded drivers, site should still be up. Those drivers were really handy back in the day and also added support to drivers, fixes and optimizations.
Really focussed on higher performance is neat and all. I'd really like them to focus on the vertical GPU mount for my Matrexx 70. Oh and the Mesh front.
Timmy the missing link to your Sli/crossfire Escapades is finding a motherboard with the LUCIDLOGIX chip that allowed you to combine amd and nvidia cards togather and other Crazy configurations..

You had your cards OC'd during most of your failed attempts at loading games like Crysis etc. Do you think it's possible the OC was unstable and that's why those games were crashing, and not SLI itself..?

A q9550 will give you a 65fps avg on panorama csgo with a good GPU. I know this because i have tested my q9550 with a 1050ti. It will even run fallout 4 at 60fps in diamond city if you drop some settings.

Best Cinebench I ever got on a Core 2 System was either 320ish or 360ish somewhere in there. I still like to mess around with Core 2 Systems they do still run many new titles. Apex fans don't wan't them though lol

Can’t play WoW on this anymore . Although I had windows 10 to run fine I just can’t seem to find the right drivers for the graphic cards to kick in .

You can tweak it with ntune. You can find it on nvidias website. It's just really hidden.
Unfortunately the XFX RX5700XT Ultra I bought just hard crashes constantly , too bad really the two XFX RX470 cards I ran worked great so I had high hopes for the 5700 . My Powercolor RX580 works great, I may just keep using it
That why i hav3 RTX for most ppl the 5700 crashes cus no one has money for LN2 to cool it ....

NVIDIA fine wine...So you can't upgrade the video card or if the power supply craps out good luck finding one. You can always use it to shave yourself in the morning.
